I usually get excellent service at AutoZone, not today, not at the Placerville store. I walk in, and there was one employee in the store. He was helping another person. I didn't get a "hi", an " I'll be right with you, " absolutely, no acknowledgment that I was even standing there. After a couple of minutes, I politely cleared my throat, still, no acknowledgment whatsoever. Another employee who seemed to be helping another person out in the parking lot, walked into the store, and as he walked past me, I politely said,"excuse me". I was going to simply ask if he was almost done. Again, no eye contact, no acknowledgment whatsoever. He just kept walking. After waiting for five minutes or so, I just walked out. It's amazing how far a simple "hi, I'll be right with you" , can go. I was heading "down the hill" anyway, so I stopped into the Rancho Cordova store. The gentleman who helped me was beyond friendly and helpful. I explained to him what happened to me in the Placerville store, and his exact words were, "that's unacceptable." He said that when a customer comes into AutoZone, they are supposed to be greeted within 30 seconds of walking into the store. Guess what? It didn't happen in the Placerville store. Consider the Placerville AutoZone off my list. read more

Most expensive chains I've purchased and they gave me the wrong size. $200 for the wrong ones...Blonde young guy at the counter was lazy and gave me the wrong size snow chains even after I asked him to double check...he seemed out of it and like he just hated his job...it was so expensive for no reason lol. I feel like he just picked the most expensive chains and didn't do his due diligence, which sucks because I did all the work of telling him my tire size and make/model, he ignored my comments that I have a sedan and continued to search for Hyundai truck chains. First time coming into this business. I had 15 gallons of oil to recycle. When I entered the store, it seemed completely empty. I stood for about 5 minutes and said, "Is anyone here?" From behind the counter, John said "ya". He had been sitting there the whole time, without saying anything. When asked about oil recycling, he said, "Oh great." The employee I interacted with was extremely rude, he wasn't wearing a name tag so I didn't catch his name but I believe he was a supervisor. Slim build, brown hair and glasses. I came in and approached the counter. He asked me what I needed so I stated I was looking for a new battery But I wasn't sure exactly which would be the best fit for my car, he replied "well I am not going to know". I responded with OK is there anything I can do and he said he needed the information about my car so I gave it to him, We found one and I asked if there were any places close I could get the battery replaced because this is the first time I need to do something like this. He responded "well I can't do it here probably an auto repair shop" in a sarcastic manner. Then stated "I would be able to replace it myself but it is too busy in the store." There was not one customer in there but myself... I didn't mind finding a place to get it replaced that is the whole reason why I asked I just didn't appreciate the manner in which she spoke to me and it was very demeaning and rude. I Then decided to go to the location in Cameron Park and they were kind enough to give me exactly what I needed recommended other parts I can buy along with it because of the condition of my car and they replaced it for me for free, so i will be going to that location instead. read more

This place forgets to place your order you spent 45 min placing with them, just because they are incompetent. I found my part on their online app and had the part number. Then tells you parts are going to be in the next day. They don't call when you call oh it's going to be another two days sorry. Then they stopped caring a brand or Freon that I purchased there so they won't give me my deposit back on it. This place is a joke. They don't know anything about auto parts. On more then one occasion, I have asked if they carried something, been told they didn't, then found it on the shelves. read more

During our first winter trip to Tahoe, we didn't realize we might need chains until after we already left. We called up every possible chain-selling store from Fairfield onwards, not having any luck until we found this Autozone. They were awesome and reserved us the last pair of chains for us when we were an hour away. And then three days later, let us return it (unopened as we never needed to use them) without any issues. Other autozones who had them out of stock, offered to call their other locations for us. Everyone we talked to was very understanding to our situation. Customer service is inconsistent, too the point where it just isn't worth trying with so many other choices near by. It always seems like they are too busy and are annoyed a customer walked in, even when no other customers are there. Note: The internet also appears to confuse the manager. I told her I needed to borrow use an OBD tool to check a diagnostic warning light, and told me that I had to buy one. I told her that I would borrow one somewhere else, but their website specifically lists OBD scan tools as available, for free, in this specific location and that if it isn't accurate they should remove it from their site. She just kept repeating that this was HER store and I should buy one from her. I understand that she probably had zero control over online content, which is usually handled at the corporate level. It was just her attitude, which left no doubt that I was on her turf so I should just pay up. I've been here a handful of times, usually for something simple. Each time I had several people check on me, upon entry and while I was browsing through. They're quite helpful in pointing me to the right direction when I can't find a product right away. During my most recent visit, I was looking for a particular type of key chain (mine fell apart). Scott searched through the inventory and through their computer system in an attempt to locate one. Turns out they didn't have it in stock at the time. But, with a quick phone call, he located a couple at another location and explained exactly how to get there. Great job, Scott. My battery in my car was dying and I had my grandchildren with me when I pulled in. You have a real nice store. The cashier was friendly and helpful BUT I was offered a battery that did not have the cold crank amps I wanted and it was $159. AND to top it off when he went to get it from the back he came back and said they were out of stock. WHAT?!! Why didnt your computer tell you you didn't have any in stock instead of wasting my time?!!! Fine!! I went to Riebies and got a battery with 800 cold crank amps with 7 yrs for $30 cheaper! Wow! I'm on the verge of reporting these people to the Autozone headquarters! They were courteous, friendly, responsive, and extremely helpful, NOTHING like any other Autozone I've ever been in. Considering the service I get at the other Autozones, this one HAS to be out of Autozone policy. I'm used to being ignored, put on hold for at least 20 minutes, having them go in back to "check on something" for me, but not coming back, then seeing them on the side talking to their friend about this girl they were out with (yes, that has happened at an Autozone). I can honestly say that I've never received such great service at an Autozone. I've actually had a personal boycott on Autozone that's gone on for over 5 years due to the bad service, but was forced to make an emergency stop at this one because they were the only ones open. Here's the story: I went up to a little town about 20 minutes east of Placerville to pick up a boat, I didn't realize it, but the trailer lights were out, ALL of them. I was told this by a friendly CHP officer who STRONGLY suggested that I fix them NOW or he will meet me a few miles up with a ticket (That's hella cool in my opinion). So, it's about 7:50pm, and I'm calling around to find that everyone was closing at 8pm. I had no choice, I had to call Autozone. This super friendly guy answers and does everything he can to help me in making sure he has what I'm looking for in stock, and even comes back with a couple ideas that I didn't think of. Surprised, and pleased, but still reluctant, I drive to Autozone to find the service to be just as great in person. After them helping me to find the perfect product for my needs, I paid for my items and went out to put them on immediately so that I didn't have to meet that CHP officer again, nice guy, just trying not to have another encounter. While I'm out there, I find that my tool box didn't have all the necessary tools to complete the job, I went back inside to buy some stuff when an employee tells me they can loan it to me. Surprised again, I take the items I needed from their box of tools for loan, and complete my job. This may not seem special to some of you, but for those of us that live in the very untrusting bay area, THIS IS RARE! Even my beloved O'Reilly auto parts in Alameda has just a small selection of very select loaner tools. I got my lights, received no ticket, and made it home happy. Sad ending though- I figured, maybe I'd give Autozone another try, so yesterday I stopped at the local Autozone near me to pick up a battery and discovered that this Placerville location is just an anomaly; At the location I went to yesterday I was "greeted" by an angry girl that was far too stoned to even pay attention to what I was saying to her, another guy, less stoned but helpful, was trying to sell me a battery that was all wrong for my boat. He was really helpful, but full of bad information. I just went back to the O'Reilly auto parts in Alameda for the battery, and the Autozone boycott is back on. PLACERVILLE AUTOZONE LOCATION ONLY: Parking........................5/5 Service........................5/5 Will I go back?...........Definitely! Next time I'm on my way to Tahoe, I may even stop in just to see what else I can buy that I might need. Placerville Autozone has got my business, the other locations, eh....not so much. read more

The guy could care less.... I have an old (1948 GMC) and I needed a gas cap. It is a basic gas cap that fits saddle tanks for probably 20-25 years of EVERY type of vehicle. I even brought in the current cap for reference. He tried to look it up on his computer and it didn't show anything... so we basically said he didn't have it and couldn't get it. I had to suggest he try a different year but he kept searching for the wrong size truck. I asked the guy if he could just take my cap and do a quick look at the caps they had. All the caps were in the exact same spot and he could have EASILY just spent 2 minutes and found the right one. He was less than helpful and offer NO help in any way. LAZY is the best way I could describe it. read more

Purchased an oil filter, looked identical to current. Tryied to install, threading didn't match. Called the store, they said they could refund me but could not offer any other help. LEFT ME STRANDED 30 MIN FROM TOWN. Store REFUSED to deliver or overnight the needed part. Very unhelpful and poor customer service. Spoke to David, commercial manager, who had poor customer service ability and was very fast to tell me there was nothing he could do, eager to hang up the phone. I am not only disssapointed at the service, but will also NEVER shop at this store again and will inform any other people not to also. read more

They sold me wiper blades that were supposed to fit. They didn't. The employee came out to check, couldn't get the blade off, nicked the paint in the process and I had to stop him before he bent the arm. Finally it was determined it wouldn't fit and out of about 6 different brands didn't have anything that would. He said these Toyota parts sometimes are tough....even though it's a Lexus. I wondered why if it says in their computer that the blade should fit that it doesn't?!!! All together this wasted about two hours of my day, plus he was rude and kind of grumpy. Then I took it to a local mechanic, he got a wiper blade at Riebes and replaced the old one in about 30 seconds. Needless to say I won't be back. read more

All I can say is WOW! We buy all our car parts from Autozone and have quite a few older cars so we are there a lot. A while back something happened with the computer system and they can never find our warranties for our parts. With a lot of time and effort they will finally find them and always honor Yesterday I had this experience with Lucas, he was patient and was able to find everything I was looking for and more. Today however was quite the different experience. I went into the store to exchange warranty parts. The store manager Scott was the person helping me. What a royal jerk! First off he tries to sell me the wrong part for my truck and when I question him about it he says they change design and color all the time. After being more forceful about it being the wrong part he looks into it some more and realizes it was the wrong part and I was correct that it was not the one I needed. Instead of apologizing and admitting fault he loudly states "I work with a bunch of idiots". Continuing on, we come to the next part, it can't be found in the computer system, big surprise. Instead of being like Lucas, Scott refuses to put in the time to find the part and is very belittling and condescending and simply says it's not in the system. Mind you this part was purchased with the other one he found no problem and one would not be purchased with out the other. So after more arguing and a phone call from my boyfriend he decides to warranty the part but makes it clear he doesn't believe the part came from his store. I NEVER should have had to get my boyfriend involved to get what I needed! I took a picture of the part I was returning compared to the new replacement. They are exactly the same except one is black. He states this is clearly not from his store because of the color change.......well.... I'm pretty sure Scott you just told me 5 minutes prior when you tried to sell me the wrong part they change color and design all the time! Thank goodness I have some knowledge of my vehicle, but being a female had I not been knowledgeable about parts I would have been mortified by this experience! Came to them to get a new battery and discovered my alternator was bad. Waited two days for the alternator which was over $250. The battery light came on within a few days, so I returned to find out that the alternator was bad (they told me that it happens with rebuilds sometimes). Had to purchase another alternator - another $250 (rather than just paying for the core charge) and wait another two days. Meanwhile my car died, thankfully not on the freeway, and I was without a car for the two days. Finally got the new one, returned the old one (this was now the fourth trip to Auto Zone....) and put it in. Within 15 minutes the battery light came on. I went to another car parts store and was told the alternator was no good (TWO in a row). Then, they also told me that it was the WRONG alternator for my vehicle. Auto Zone called me and asked how my visit to their store was. I was very polite when I described what had happened to me and all she could say was "oh.". While the guys behind the counter were so very nice and helpful, the parts are not good and their customer service was terrible. DON'T GO TO AUTO ZONE IF YOU WANT PARTS THAT WORK! read more
