I have a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix GT. I had the engine rebuilt twice and my car was running great. However, the car has had a recall for an under-hood fire Hassard for over a decanted or 2. I got sick of getting post cards and notices from DMV, regardless that issue was solved already for that recall. The only GM dealership that had the repair part " valve cover", or willing to do the non-needed work, but had to be document that the recall was reminded was in Patterson. I took my car in March 30th, 2025 After I got my car back, I notice that the gas gage needle was going up rapidly as I drove away. I thought that was normal. Soon I found that was not normal. After contacting them about it... it was bad after that. They will not take responsibility for their actions and became rude over the phone. Not a great experience at Thompsons. On 11/16, I was coming from 90 minutes away. I told Chris I would be there between 1 and 2 p.m., and he said they had everything they needed from me. Arriving at 1:30, Chris seemed confused and surprised and then went on to say how they were short-handed. Cut to 3 hours later, they are finally ready to sign the paperwork--typical finance guy hard sales pitch about upselling warranties. Noting multiple scratches in the hood and tail lights before leaving, they say they will call to address them. 11/18 After a runaround, they say they will order the lights and call back to schedule picking up my truck. 12/5 I have to call back. The parts department tells me that they have it, but the service department has amnesia. 12/16 I call again because I am getting emails for my service appointment. Once again, the service department has zero clue what my request is or whether any parts have been ordered. Update... I spoke with the Kieth Fradenburg who is the General Manager. He researched the incident and took full responsibility for his employees actions. He made no excuses and explained he will work with the employees to make sure this never happens again. He offered to sell me the vehicle at the original rate and is even delivering it to us as we live about 2 hrs away. Very impressed that they owned the mistake and did what they originally said they would do. Thanks Kieth! I worked with Johnny Carr over the weekend on a Yukon they had in stock. I explained to him that we were going to buy a car and we didn't want to play "car sales games". We went back and forth with the price and eventually we agreed on the price. I was VERY clear with him that I understand the car business and do not want them to mark up the interest rate like dealerships due to capture money they have took off of the price. He told me they DO NOT mark up the rate. I told him I expect him to be honest because if they plan on marking up the rate I don't want our credit ran. He promised that's not how they do business. Long story short, they came back and marked up the rate 2%. We have a credit score of over 800 and amazing income to debt ratio. So good that they didn't ask for income proof. The "Finance Manager" and Johnny called me and said that was the best they could do. I said I am not paying that rate, especially since GM advertised a lower rate to qualified buyers, which we are. They said don't worry you can refinance after 6 months and get a better rate. After telling him that I don't need a car and can wait he offered to see if he could buy down the rate a 1/2 percent. I laughed and got off of the phone. They marked up the rate 2%, and if the loan is kept for 6 months they don't get charged back what they made on the loan. If he had been honest about the rate mark up we wouldn't have let them run our credit. We were very clear about this with Johnny, and he blatantly lied to me. Once I called Johnny on how he lied to me he quit responding. Called another dealer that had a similar car and they ran the credit and turns out they were 2% lower. This was a total waste of time!!!! It's with a heavy heart I write this as I have had my vehicles serviced at Thompson's for over a decade. Lately the quality has declined. I was told an hour for a repair today and it ended up at 2 1/2 hours. No apologies or concession. I only give this 2 stars because the repair was done correctly. I also had an issue covered under warranty which they claimed to have fixed before but needed attention again. On that note, their new service consultant needs some lessons on bedside manner. I shall not use his name here. He inferred I had done something to cause the malfunction. All I wanted was for my pickup to be correctly repaired. I don't need veiled accusations. When my vehicle was finally done there was no explanation or even a bit of concern. I received a fair price for my trade and the process for buying the new vehicle was streamlined and straightforward. My truck was detailed and filled with fuel when I picked it up. I tried to purchase a 25 GMC Denali pickup truck and I would have if they treated me like a customer. They took over 24 hours after I submitted my credit application to run my credit and give me numbers. We stop by dealership and test drove truck and did credit app online. When I call Brian the salesman he said he was too busy with other customer to talk to me. Then I call his sales manager, Jessie and he just blew me off. He didn't care and told me he would have the salesman call me back. It should not take 2 days to find out what my number were. Do not buy ANY used from Thompsons! I bought a used Trax for my daughter's first car, they noted that the car did make a gurgling sound but not to worry as it was not a concern because it was most likely air in the water pump. Not 2 weeks later car was in the shop at Thompsons on 1/22/25, we did ask about a loaner car and they said they cannot loan a car (we live 1hr40min away). Thompsons service department do not communicate between each other or the customer and they do not return phone calls like they say the will. As a customer, I should not have to play cat and mouse to find out the status of my car, so I had to speak with the service manager to find out what is going on. The service manager kept assuring me by saying "that's not how we do business". He also stated that they were having problems with the warranty company as they had to wait for someone in the used car department to help them figure out who is going to pay for the repair as the used car warranty does not cover head gaskets(car sat for 2 weeks) and the Trax had a dealership 60 day warranty. Again, no updates so I call again this time they tell me that parts have been ordered and are waiting for them to come in and they will call me middle of next week. Again, no phone call received. I call them again the following week, this time I am done being the nice customer, as no one seems to care that they have had my car for 38 days (not to include Sundays). When I called again and spoke with the service manager AGAIN, he tells me that they replaced the head gasket but while doing so they broke it and had to reorder another gasket as well as another part to fix it correctly. While speaking/yelling because I am OVER being jerked around, the service manager does not like to allow the customer to finish talking nor does he listen to what the customer is saying as he likes to talk over you. He tells me that they have put 14hrs on the car and all of this money into the Trax, and he does not know what is going on, he does not know me, he is trying to figure out what is going on....but he has no idea what is going on with my car! As a service manager, you should know how long EVERY car is in YOUR shop and WHY it is there for so long! At the end of it all, because "this is not how they do business" bs, and finally fixing it, Thompsons service manager will deliver the Trax to my home. Now, they did deliver it and they did fix it, however the Trax had over a half tank of gas when I dropped it off to them in January, and they had to do test drives in the car multiple times, but delivered the Trax on empty gas status.....as in the light is on. Will never do business with any Thompsons again and will tell all friends and family to avoid as well. read more
