A close family friend with a solid construction background advised me to get some Benjamin Moore paint for our new door. The guys who installed the new door told us the same. So today we popped into the new Simsbury Paint store to get some door paint, and we were absolutely blown away by the incredible selection and AMAZING customer service. Primers, paints, sheen, prep, rollers, brushes -ever single aspect of our project was covered in amazing detail. Brought in a paint chip to see if they could match…read more Since I had peeled the chip there was some residual (and different color on both sides)I was clear which color I wanted. When I got home I realized they had mixed the other color mistakenly. I get it. Mistakes happen. I went back the same day, brought another chip and showed the same person that had mixed the original batch what had happened. They acknowledged the error and mixed a new batch but insisted that I had to pay full price for the new quart. Since he wasn't the manager he wasn't authorized to give me "free" paint.

They offer paint recycling. If they don't have the product in stock, they will order it for you since they are affiliated with the Ace Hardware warehouse; the warehouse carries over 80,000 items. They offer many services in-house such as key cutting and propane fills. When you join the Ace Rewards, you can earn rewards with every purchase. Overall, a great asset for the community.

When that nasty Christmas week windstorm dropped a whole load of tree debris in our backyard, some of it struck the back of the house, and cut holes in a window screen and the slider screen. So we threw the damaged goods into the car and drove them over to Matt at Welden Hardware. Within just a few days, he called us and said the screens were ready to be picked up. They look great and the price was very fair; in fact the job cost just a few bucks under what our homeowner's insurance company allowed on their estimate. Welden is really quite a cool store. We spent some time wandering around when we dropped off the screens and saw a big variety of products -some of which you'd expect to see in a hardware store (electrical, tools, paint, garden equipment) and some surprises, like snowblowers, kitchen supplies, and gloves. Next time you're thnking of driving to one of those big box hardware stores, check out Welden.
