Tom (the owner) was very informative about the benefits and drawbacks of each kind of flooring and I was shocked to see how nice the vinyl plank flooring was. I changed my mind and have no regrets. Tom is a true flooring expert. He purchases the flooring from the manufacturers, is there to help you select your flooring and also installs it for you. This gives him the unique perspective of having intimate knowledge of the quality of materials that will be used during installation and he can advise you on what you will get for your money better than any big box store. He also has a great staff and they are also very knowledgeable. Royalty's prices are also very competitive against the big box stores. Royalty was actually LESS expensive than the big stores and outlets for this flooring. You get so much more for your money than just good material. With Royalty you receive the best installations (I have never had any issues with all of the installations over the years. They've been perfect) and SO MUCH BETTER SERVICE!

To prepare the space, he removed old wood pieces that left the wall looking rough. He then mixed drywall paste, repaired the damage, sanded, painted, and installed the shelving. The finished area looks great. Additional Home Repairs Because this is an older house, several other items needed attention. James handled each one carefully and efficiently: * Fixed door slides to add extra security when locking two exterior doors. * Added missing weather stripping to the bottom of the storm door. * Cleaned up torn metal siding beneath the front door. * Installed a hook in the cement wall for the car charger. Above-and-Beyond Support During the move into the new house, the master bed proved difficult to assemble because it had many pieces. When one of James's jobs ended early, he came over ahead of schedule and put the bed together that same afternoon. That level of flexibility and care was truly above and beyond. James will be our first call for house repairs in West Hartford.

Staff would not return calls or provide estimates as promised, requiring my having to initiate following up with staff on 5-6 occasions when they did not act congruent to their word. My floor was installed and it revealed knots and colors not depicted in the sample; I again had to pursue follow up weeks later to only be told the manufacturer determined that I should somehow have anticipated these knots and colors to exist in spite of the sample not even indicating in writing these potential variations and staff not educating me to this point. The contracted staff who actually installed the flooring itself were professional, thoughtful, considerate, and hardworking. They did a wonderful job on the floor itself. However, the floor is not consistent with my expectations and, even worse, main business staff fails to communicate in a timely way to resolve outstanding issues (such as needing to re-install a small molding piece that has been outstanding for nearly two months now). While I empathize that the business may be experiencing staffing limitations and transitions, the lack of communication and action turned an otherwise joyous renovation into a stressful and disappointing experience. I will not personally use this company for future renovations, which is disappointing.

(Lynyrd Skynyrd) After we had our hardwood floors and steps sanded and refinished, we decided to pretty up those steps with a carpet runner, which explains why we visited Galaxy Discount Carpet Store today. That decision ended up being a FIVE STAR experience. Their two floor showroom is just incredible! Sample boards, rolls stacked on the floor in rows, area rugs hanging from the ceiling, gorgeous stuff everywhere. We met with Charlie and explained to him what we were looking for. He said that staircase runners can either be pre-manufactured in big rolls, or custom cut from carpeting meant for rooms. We knew we wanted a runner in some shade of gray to complement our wall color, and decided on a carpet runner to be cut from a big grayish roll and then finished with black binding along the edges, to complement the black stair rail and contrast with the white stair risers. It was installed 72 hours later, and that was pretty amazing in it's own right. Communication with Galaxy was great. Charlie was a dream to work with, the installers called us the day before install to confirm the date and time window, and the van with two workers arrived as scheduled mid-afternoon and did a neat professional job on the install. Charlie's price was $140 less than one we had from a flooring company out in our neck of the woods, and the carpet quality was better at Galaxy. Everything went well, and the stairs look great!

How could one project go so well and the second project end in disappointment?…read moreThe first hardwood floor installation in June 2025 was professional, no dust and job clean up was thorough, it was flawless. It went so well I decided to do another room. Two different workers came this time, July 2025 & asked where my 220 plug was. The worker plugged his wires into my dryer machine plug. I questioned why there was no plug on his machine only wires coming out & he said "it's ok" when they began to sand my new smoke detectors were blaring & I come upstairs to one worker standing in my living room, far from the room they were working on with a mask on in a cloud of dust saying "sorry, something wrong with the machine" and my smoke detectors were put into a bathroom. As a professional they should have prevented the dust from circulating throughout my house and if the equipment was faulty it should not have been used. As soon as the dust was circulating throughout the house the equipment should've been turned off until a working replacement was available. Apparently the sander had no vacuum bag attached, in the high humidity the dust settled & adhered to everything inside the house. The fact that the smoke detectors were blaring was additional proof that the workers created a hazardous environment in my house and judging by the layer of dust on my fan blades I used to clear the air my new smoke detectors are probably compromised. Also the baseboard heater was left dangling from the wall & I had to fix the holes from them ripping it off the wall to reattach properly myself. Also worth noting, I have found 2 live cockroaches so far in the rooms that were done. I'm not sure if they were brought in with their equipment or what, but I have never seen previously in my home. I felt my concerns expressed to Brian were not taken seriously and the only apology I received for the second job nightmare was from 2 of his employees and none from the owner of the business. If this happened on the first job, they would never have been hired for the second Job. I have other projects I'm looking forward to do, but will look elsewhere. I would give the first job 4/5 stars, but zero for the second.

The owner, Brian Harding, came in within just a few days, and gave me a great estimate! He was very professional, honest, and right on point about a few nicks that were already on my floors. I don't use price as my final determination. I also checked his reviews and they were all excellent. Shane came over my house to give me an estimate and show me some carpet samples. He was very professional and polite. I chose my carpet, put down a deposit and Shane told me when he expected the carpet to come in. He did advise me that there might be a delay due to supply chain issues. While waiting for the carpet, Shane was easy to get a hold of and he was very communicative. The carpet came in when he thought it would and we scheduled the install. When Shane arrived to install the carpet he was very careful and meticulous. He put down clean gripping drop cloths wherever it was necessary while he worked. He made sure that his tools and carpet weren't in the way of foot traffic. Shane is a hard worker and you can see the pride he takes in his work. He completely moved our bedroom furniture, removed the old carpet and pad and installed the new carpet, and replaced our bedroom furniture, in one bedroom, in one day. He not only installed the new carpet but he fixed a squeak we had in the floors of both bedrooms. Shane made sure we were happy with the furniture placement and was very careful moving it. The next day, Shane removed the furniture, removed the old carpet, installed the new carpet and replaced the furniture in our smaller bedroom/office, in a half a day. The products Shane uses are top of the line, unlike Home Depot and he goes above and beyond when installing the carpet. Shane is professional and trustworthy and does incredible work, you won't be disappointed.
