I've been using Fiderio's for about 10 years. They are amazing, and the quality of construction is so good, my kitchen and bathroom still look brand new, even though they were done 5 and 10 years ago. They are a joy to work with, which is definitely not something people typically say about working with contractors. They are amazingly talented and experienced, and guide you through the process with good tips and ideas so you can make fully informed choices. After Fiderio & Sons handled our roof in December, we hired them again to redo the siding of our 80 year old house. We were sad to hear Mike had passed, as he'd been great to work with on the roof, and just an all around nice guy -- but fortunately Yancy was also fantastic to work with on this project! He walked us through everything that would need to be done, all our options, the benefits, and timeline. Quotes came in very timely manner and broken down in a way easy to understand. When we realized we'd need to get the windows done as well in addition to the siding, Fiderio was very flexible with making that happen -- the contractors were in contact with each other to coordinate to get both projects done as efficiently as possible. We also got a decent discount on our new gutters due to customer loyalty. Now the house looks brand new without sacrificing any of its New England charm. Yancy stayed in touch through each stage to make sure it was to our satisfaction. And the project clean up was quick and done within a day. I contacted Margaretann about getting their professional opinion and a quote to fix some walls that had been damaged by a painter. I sent some photos and she told me that the cedar shingles would need to be replaced. I told her this was fine, so Mike came out to look and told me they would email me a quote. A week later, I emailed asking about the status of the quote. A few days after that, I contacted them again. This time they replied with a couple sentences in an email stating a price and very little else about what they planned to do. I responded that I need a proper written quote. Of course I would never give a contractor $14000 without a formal proposal, but I also told them that this was going to be required if I was to seek money from the original painter's insurance (or my own insurance, for that matter). For context, that week I also received a 15-page formal quote from another contractor for the same exact job, and the other quote was actually lower. I received no response to my request in the next week, so I called. The next day, Mike replied that "company policy" says that they can't work with me because I am fixing work done by another contractor. It seems to me that the company policy excuse was nonsense and really they didn't like being called out on their unprofessional attempt at quote-writing. First, it would be absurd for a company policy to prevent fixing another contractor's work, unless of course they are often on the other side and tend to be the cause of such problems. Second, I explained the problem in great detail and sent photos of the damage the first day I contacted Margaretann, and did it really take several weeks of emails, phone calls, and a site visit to determine that company policy prevents them from working with me at all? Third, why did they provide me the quote, albeit a substandard one, that they did if company policy says they can't work with me? They wasted my time and endangered my family by coming to my house during the pandemic when they had no serious interest in getting this job. read more

We used Fiderio to replace shutters on our house, and to rebuild our front porch (replaced railings and posts that were rotting/bowing/peeling wood with no maintenance Azek). Mike came out to check it out and give us a quote. He was super professional and gave us a quote on the spot. He had books for us to check out all our different options for shutters and railings, and said for bigger jobs, you can go to the showroom to check out materials. I personally loved the convenience of sitting on my front porch and picking everything out! He was patient and let us flip through the books and never once made us feel like he was in a rush. We put a deposit down on the spot. Our ability to do the project was dependent on another contractor doing stone work on our porch first. Fiderio was great about scheduling around them and getting the work done quickly once the stone work project was complete. They did their work fast and cleaned up without a trace. The prices are fair (let's be honest, home improvement projects are never cheap!) and the service and quality of workmanship is fantastic! I haven't even received my invoice for final payment, and I'm already eyeing my back deck for replacement....when I'm ready, I will definitely call Fiderio! read more

I wrote a review on 2/29/2020 (KS in West Haven CT) giving a 1 star because of issues with ceiling stains and cracking from some prior work. Since that time Fiderio & Sons (specifically Jonathan and Margaretann) contacted me to resolve my concerns. They did just that. I am UPDATING my review to a 5 STAR. Jonathan, Margaretann and myself collaboratively came up with a solution. The person that did the work was thorough, efficient. The work is professionally done. He was respectful of my property. When doing a portion of the work we came into unforeseen, necessary item needing repair. The person doing the work graciously (with a smile on his face) offered to take care of the repair that day. For over 4 years we had wanted to change our damaged/ugly aluminum siding to vinyl and make the house pop more and look better while enjoying time outside during the summer. Fiderio and Sons worked with us in the beginning to go over material and prices. Had a sales rep come to my house for a quote request on a Bath project I was ready to start. I received a call 2 days later to review the quote and was told I had to come to their showroom to receive the quote. OK! The soonest they could meet was in 3 weeks. I requested they email me the quote and the rep refused. She then came belligerent and said this is how they operate and I obviously couldn't afford them, really hard to determine when no quote was give. Don't waste your time here! read more

Every person to show up has said how the last person has done the job incorrectly. News Flash, you work for the same company. How many incompetent employees do you have? During a wind and rain storm in November we had a very, very large tree fall in the middle of the night that caused significant damage to our 3 season sunroom. Since this was obviously going to be an insurance claim, we wanted to find a company that would deal with the insurance company directly and alleviate that stress from us. We contacted Fiderio & Sons to provide a quote and to see if they would contact and work with the insurance company directly. Matt Dowe came out, provided an estimate and took the lead in working with the insurance company. Matt submitted all paperwork, pictures , worked with the insurance adjuster and negotiated on our benefit. We waited a few weeks for the materials to arrive but our new 3 season sunroom was up and done within 1 week..... in February. We highly recommend Fiderio &Son. We had 13 windows replaced and a slider, and their workmanship and professionalism is top notch. It was somewhat of a tricky install needing to take siding off and actually cut out the old windows but they did it properly, even adding new trim around the outside, and the new windows look absolutely stunning! The crew took great care inside the house to minimize the mess and they cleaned up every day before leaving. Before leaving once the job was complete the foreman went through everything to make sure we were satisfied, even pointing out a damaged sill that would be replaced before we noticed it ourselves. Just had new windows installed and am very happy with the price and the job. The workmen were very professional and skilled. I had a picture window installed where a small window was and when I saw what the giant hole in my wall looked like I almost died. The worker assured me that it will look beautiful when completed. Nothing but GREAT things to say about Fiderio & Sons. From the beginning, they have been very professional, easy to work with, and very accommodating. Jonathan Fiderio was very polite and not pushy like a lot of sales people. Their showroom may seem small from the outside, but inside, they have tons of samples of tiles, flooring, cabinets, and other fixtures to look at (they even have a secret door to the downstairs that's behind a bookshelf - my 4 year old loved that!). The carpenters and other people from Fiderio & Sons working on our bathrooms are extremely nice and doing a great job. If they have questions on how we want something done in the bathrooms, they ask before doing it so it's done correctly the first time. Don't call these guys for help with ice dams!!!! I did and they said it would be $200 for the first hour and $85 for each additional hour, I agreed, I had water in the ceiling of the bathroom and bedroom. I told them it would be the back dormer. They sent someone out, he looked at the roof and said he needed a bigger ladder and left. They he returned and said he would take a picture of the snow before he started so I could see what it looked like. He was on the roof for 30 minutes. He was shoveling off not much snow, as I could see it all landing on the ground. He came down, said he forgot to take the before picture and showed me a picture for the 2' ice dams that remain. I asked him what was he going to do about them and he said nothing, you could damage your house if you did anything and then he left. The leak has continued to get worse, and the bill came today for $350.00. Of coarse it is Sat. and the office is closed. I will pay the $200, for the 45 mins of his time. I will not pay for the fact that he brought the wrong ladder. And I am very unhappy with Fiderio. I asked for help with ice dams not snow removal. If that is all they could do they should have said that!!! read more
