As delicious as beautiful they look! This place has become one of my favorite places to go for an indulgent treat or fancy edible gift. They offer a large variety of croissant based items with a variety of savory and sweet toppings/stuffings. Their price point is very reasonable for the quality. Lots of layered flakiness and well portioned flavor additions. I feel you can't really go wrong with any of their choices. I've gotten several drinks from here as well but today was the mocha. It was one of the best I've had. Not overly sweet yet made with a good amount of chocolate. Alongside Mink it's one of my favorite places for a mocha. The seating is comfortable but can fell a bit squishy if a crowd builds up by the entrance and along the aisle. It also boggles my mind how they are closed on Sundays. They are closed Mondays too which are more typical, but I've lost count how many times I've wanted to grab something there on a Sunday only to remember they're closed.

My Kouign-amann had a glorious surprise of Raspberry coulis inside! I hope it becomes a regular item.

Tomato & Bocconcini Sandwich, Champagne Truffle, Iced London Fog

Not a big space, but there is a pretty varied selection of desserts and pastries as well as soup and sandwiches and a full coffee/tea menu on offer. Tables are placed very close together so there isn't much sense of intimacy, but even so I like the layout of the cafe. The tables are all placed near the windows so they get natural light, and there's this one corner that looked really cozy. There's a fenced-off patio area that's also a little cramped but still has those nice fresh-air vibes. Given that they're usually busy, I much prefer the tight seating situation over a scarcity of tables. The appropriately chocolatey tones of the interior are very aesthetically appealing. I ordered: Tomato & bocconcini sandwich: Also included avocado, which added a nice texture and didn't steal the show from the other ingredients, and roasted red peppers, which added little bursts of flavour. Very tasty, a little messy - could have perhaps used a little less aioli to make things from slide around less, but it's not like there was WAY too much as it was. Champagne truffle cake: Delicious! The very dark chocolate ganache coating was heavenly and all in all there was a very nice play of flavours going on here. The inherent sweetness of the cake was balanced out by the bittersweetness of the dark chocolate and the booziness of champagne. Iced London fog: Very memorable! Usually I pay attention primarily to the quality of the tea and not so much the vanilla syrup, but here, in addition to using a very fragrant earl grey, I couldn't help but notice the strong vanilla bean flavour, which was achieved even without using a ton of syrup to sweeten it. I'm very impressed because some places struggle to make the iced version of London fog properly unless they use tea powder, but this tasted like steeped tea and was perfect. In addition to the very good food, the staff here were all very pleasant to interact with, and it was a good sign to see many people behind the counter with clear roles to keep organized and on top of the traffic.

Wow, can't believed I've never reviewed the OG Chocolatier of YVR. Keeping this simple as possible without being redundant. My faves: Double Baked Almond Croissant, Hot chocolate, Chocolates. My rant: Pear Frangipane Compared to whole foods pear frangipane (which I haven't seen since 2021...), Whole Foods win. Why? (and I have made this before like 3X and I was very successful). The pear is to hard, and not poached properly even if its not ripe, you can cook it longer with a bit more cinnamon. The pear brine wasn't sweet enough. The pear was rubbery in the tart, with how it's placed so closely, it's suppose to be fanned out so ones fork can glide through it until you hit the tart crust with a bit of resistance. The almond frangipane filling had no almond flavour, that is too basic to skimp out. The glaze is weak also for the finish, you had a raspberry layer but no apricot glaze? I don't get it. Overall it was doughy and under seasoned with no pear flavour or almond flavour. My low review hopefully balances out the line up at the Haas Haus.

What a treasure to be able to savour such a wonderful dessert, really a pillar in chocolates, gateaux, other desserts and pastries in Vancouver for so many years, this creation is also a standout. Attractive to the eye, the vibrant colours really popped. The fusion of a classic seasonal fruit tart with crème and lemon curd was unbelievably tantalizing. We have gone to heaven with so much lemon curd, tart and sweet at the same time, great texture and so balanced in flavour, We fought for the last bite. The pâté sucrée rounded out the whole experience with a desirable richness and sweetness. The crumbly texture was a great compliment to the smooth gentle toppings.

The cake here is solid. The chocolate is fantastic. Croissants are crispy, buttery and satisfying. Thomas Haas and crew are super talented. Their chocolate art display is always out of this world beautiful. I absolutely love the Blak collection. Still remember my first bite after my good friend spoit me with it on my birthday one year. I knew this is 'the' chocolate cake on my list. This round, we tried the yuzu mousse. Beautifully balanced in texture and flavour. Definitely light when you want dessert and had no room. The mango coconut mousse though!!! It is my new favourite amongst the many here. Pear tart also made a lasting impression

Pistachio cherry tart

Ordered a pistachio cherry tart which was lovely not overly sweet or tarty, it has been a while since i really enjoyed a dessert bought from outside, will have to try other's they offer.

Thomas Haas had been on my hit list since taking a pastry masterclass with him back in 2004 when he was the Pastry Chef at Daniel in NYC.I always said I was gonna visit his shop if I ever made it to Vancouver...15 YEARS LATER! We arrived early Saturday morning, just before opening, which in my opinion is the best thing to do, for best selections! I perused the case up front like a kid in a candy store-macarons, bonbons, truffles, petite gateaux(little cakes), vienoisserie(breakfast pastries), and gift baskets and retail items in the back. This place is loaded! Unfortunately Chef Haas wasn't there until the afternoon, but one of the ladies behind the counter was very helpful in suggesting items that I may want to try. After debating, contemplating, and improvising, I finally pumped the brakes after she kindly replied with a little giggle, "Just so you know, you have 4 desserts and 4 baked goods" Glad I stopped there because when our order came up, there were no trays and everything was plated individually which filled our little table to the limit! Patrons in line did double takes and comments like "Oh my, he's definitely got his hands full!" and "That's quite a spread!" were heard LOL!!! We shared the Pull apart loaf, Kouign Amann, Ham and Cheese Croissant, Cherry Turnover, Special of the Week, Black Forest Cake, Mascarpone Mousse Cake, and Almond Pear Tart. Each and every bite was delicious and my Maple Latte was a perfect accompaniment to our breakfast of champions. The service and staff were very pleasant and the variety of items were great (come EARLY for best selections!), price point is perfect, and it's not too far from Kitsilano Beach were we took in the scenery afterwards. ALOHA!!! SHAKA METER: \uuu/ \uuu/ \uuu/ \uuu/ \uuu/ 5

Sublime. Where do I start? The variety of viennoiserie left me wanting more than I could eat in one sitting. Light, flaky and with the right balance of crisp and buttery. The double baked chocolate was a favorite. The pistachio and traditional pain au chocolate satisfying. But it was the pastries that blended a smooth, rich and neither too sweet nor overwhelming that left us wanting more. Beautifully boxed for a trip over to friends for dinner. Then top it off with a hot chocolate to cut the cool winter morning and we are off to the races. Do I need to say anything more? We'll be back.

All their baked goods!

It's right beside the Performance Works building. I don't know how long this shop has been here, but in all my life I've never noticed this place until now. I happened to have just come out of an afternoon show at Performance Works and as I was walking away from the Performance Works building, I happened to turn my head and see this shop, so decided to check it out. They're a small shop/ workshop that does tours which teach how chocolate is made. When you walk in, you can smell chocolate in the air. The lady in the shop offered some samples of their chocolate. I tried their Tanduay Rum chocolate and their Earl Grey Tea chocolate. According to their website their chocolate is award winning. To be honest though, I wasn't blown away by what I tasted. It wasn't bad but it also didn't taste to me like it was award winning chocolate. I noticed a sign though that said they had a drink which was part of the Koolfest. This is a new festival that started this year and is a celebration of cold drink creations from vendors of the annual Hot Chocolate Festival. Kasama's creation was a Filipino Cacao Husk & Kape Cold Brew with Vanilla Cinnamon Syrup and Ube Cold Foam. I hadn't had any Koolfest drinks yet, this one sounded appealing and to be honest...I'm the kind of person who tends to feel guilty about taking free samples and then not buying anything! So...having sampled the Tanduay Rum and Early Grey Tea chocolates, I decided to buy a Koolfest drink. Not much of a coffee person usually. This might be only the second time I've ever ordered a cold brew drink. I very much enjoyed this drink! For me to enjoy a coffee beverage, it has to be sweet and this one was sweet...but not excessively sweet. I loved the Vanilla Cinnamon flavor in it. It really hit the spot.

The smoked salmon croissant is served cold (they always check if that's okay), and even so, it's one of my favorites. The portobello sandwich, served warm, is also rich and full of flavor.
