I had an eye doctor appointment for my six year old son during this summer. All went well and he got a new pair of glasses. But when the pediatrician saw him for school documents, he didn't get the needed 20/20 vision and I had to go back to the eye doctor for followup. So, my initial appointment was at the end of July, he got his glasses almost a month after and I called to schedule his followup in beginning of October and they scheduled me fro mid November. When I asked(on phone) about the charge, they mentioned that the glasses check would be covered and I don't have to pay for the appointment. However, when i went they wanted to charge me anyway ..... initially because I was seeing a different doctor in the same chain of clinics( I said I will go back to my previous doc). later the lady comes back and tells me that I will be charged anyway as my appointment is not within the 90 day window after the initial check(I have called them well within the 90 day window, but they have scheduled me after month and half)... Even though the doctors are good, the staff create so much confusion and they don't care about the patient. They are very rude. their apologies are so plastic.Hated it. I wouldn't recommend anyone to go there. read more

Came to this office for a consultation about ICL vs. Lasik because of early signs of cataracts. Instead of using the 90 minutes of test data collected last week for the Lasik evaluation, this office decided to repeat all those test. Not pleased with that decision. Maybe an insurance money grab ? Be prepared to wait, at Suwanee office it appears they book multiple appointments expecting some no-shows. So...if you are on-time an respectful of their services, you get punished. Although I observed some good things, the deliberate waste of time for a consultation by repeating ophthalmic tests that are one week old, and the starting at 10:15 for a 9:30 appointment discouraged me. read more

TWO HOURS AND 20 MIN wait for a 5 minute visit with the actual doctor. Only when we asked about it, they called us in. The assistants were very nice, but this is unacceptable. If there's only one doctor available, do not schedule visits so close together. Everyone we talked who was waiting was irritable and unhappy, and puzzled by the wait. We got an apology for "the wait" but even the first assistant was shocked to see us still there! On a school night, they should be considered of our time. Sorry but can't recommend a place that does not treat their patients respectfully. The doctor barely read the chart and asked a couple of questions before sending yet, another person to give us the final paperwork. Taking our "eye business" somewhere else. read more

I waited 30 minutes to be seen by anyone after arriving on time and there was no apology or acknowledgment of the wait. The "technician" or whatever her title is (she didn't say what her title/role is) was unfriendly acted like she didn't want to be there. Then I was then told to wait in the waiting area where I waited another 20 minutes before the test on some kind of medical equipment. I then waited another 30 minutes to see the Dr. Once I was called in, he cut me off several times when I was telling him about what other providers had told me about my eye conditions and treatments and when I pointed out the discrepancy between his advice and theirs (mind you one of my previous Drs is a Fellow and current President for the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery) he said "well some doctors will say anything. It doesn't mean they know what they are talking about." How incredibly arrogant to imply that my previous Eye Dr of 6 years didn't have a legitimate reason for making recommendations or that there could possibly be honest medical disagreements. He looked at my eyes and left the room within 3 minutes. I know because I looked at my watch! He didn't say a word about me being a glaucoma suspect, as I've been told before. Additionally, I told him, the first person who examined me and also when I scheduled the appt, that I wanted a prescription for computer distance lenses. I told him *again* before he rushed out of the room and he said they'd have it up front when I paid. It was NOT there and I waited 12 more minutes while the person at the desk went back to get the computer prescription. She also left me standing there for 5 minutes to get a billing question answered. I was at their office a TOTAL OF TWO hours for a simple eye exam and NOT ONE PERSON acknowledged or apologized for the wait. I've waited less in ER Depts. The arrogance of the MD, the disregard of their entire staff for people's time, and the fact that my 3 requests for a computer distance prescription were completely ignored and then waiting 12 minutes without so much as a simple apology are appalling. They clearly think their patients' time is less important than their profits. And when I asked two people in the waiting area if they are always running this late, both said YES and one said "It's always like this. It's a nightmare." We'll I'll pass on going through such disrespectful treatment again. I filled out their requested survey as well. I hope they care enough to make changes otherwise why are did they ask for my opinion?? And why do they think it's OK to disrespect people like this already? Long, long waits. 2+ hours to see the doctor, even when making early appointments. No respect for people's time. Long waits when making phone calls to Thomas Eye Group, as well. Lack of return phone calls. Recently, I had a procedure done (laser iridotomy, as the first step of ICL correction) by Dr. Carlisle and I have HORRIBLE glare in my eyes now. They were fine before, albeit nearsighted, I had no glare/issues. This elective procedure that I had done was supposed to enhance my vision and it has in fact made it worse. Having this procedure done, as an elective procedure, is one of my life's greatest regrets. I went and saw Dr. Carlisle about this and he was rude and condescending to both my fiance and myself. He told me I had to "deal with it" and proceeded to argue with my fiance about the side effects/risks of anything and went on a diatribe about "getting hit by car on the way to the procedure". It was terrible bedside manner and I will never go back to see Dr. Carlisle or any other doctor at Thomas Eye Group. Please do not have a laser iridotomy done unless it is absolutely needed due to glaucoma. read more

What a fraud eye group. I brought my son back in 2015 and paid the office visit 55.00 but they still want to say I owe them 85.00 that I didn't pay the 55.00 visit fee. So my son can't go there unless I pay the 85.00 bill from 4 years ago. Aside from that they have no customer service and the experience for children is horrible. Wow!! What a pleasant surprise. They are absolutely great with kids. I was so nervous about what this experience would be considering I have a little one who is into everything but I was completely shocked at how savvy their techniques are. They were able to get him to name the pictures (without cheating :-) and they used an incredible strategy to dilute his eyes. He was so afraid of the optometrist and kept calling her a pediatrician. He thought he was getting a shot. She knew exactly what to do. She completed her exam and we were out in less than 20 minutes. They really have it together and know how to work with kids. I can safely recommend this place and say with confidence that they will take care of your child. read more

Went for eye exam for a possible cataract surgery. Had a complete eye exam done. Turn out the cataract surgeon was not on duty on that particular day (but still sch. Me in). So I had to come back again . On my second visit which is like a week later, I was subjected for another eye exam again . It sure was no fun.. it sure was redundant. It doesn't matter if you show up early, or on time...you will sit and wait....and wait.. I realize they have to overbook a little to make up for no shows, or people coming late, but every single appointment I have waited an hour, and once I waited more then an hour. They do not value their patients time, AT ALL. The eye dr we saw was very inpatient with my daughter and just not friendly at all, felt like we were bothering her by being there. When it came time to order glasses, the gentlemen wanted to pick 3-4 pairs of glasses and let my 11 yearold pick from that selection. Can you imagine picking glasses that way? I would recommend finding somewhere else to go. read more

The doctors and receptionists here are very nice. I had an issue w/ my eye insurance changing w/o my knowledge and the receptionist helped me figure out which insurance it got changed to. She could've just sent me out or let me pay out of pocket, but she went the extra mile and helped me a lot. That really resonated w/ me. The only reason I give the office a four star is because the frames can be on the expensive side so if you are on a tight budget; there are very few choices for frames. read more

If you want to wait 2+ hours for an appointment that can be done in max 30-40 minutes then this is the place fire you. My younger sister and I arrived at 2 for appointments at 2:20 hoping if we arrive early we can go back early which definitely was the case. So we went back at 2:12 and had eye exams done by a nurse which took about 25minutes, but then they sent us back to the waiting room. So then we waited until 3:25 to go back and see the doctor....over an hour after we had initially arrived. By the time the doctor came into the room it was already 3:35, I had to get to an interview so I left after she checked my eyes and declined dilation, so my mom went in to stay with my sister. With getting dilated and everything my sister didn't leave until around 4:20 and ended up not getting contacts like she had planned because that would have taken another hour. 2 hours just for a yearly eye exam? Nope never again! read more

Previous reviews seem like patient specific. Can't comment on their experiences. I and husband who has v high astigmatism have been seeing Dr Glenda brown for over 4 years now and she is the only person who could explain what was happening with my husband's eye why his glass prescription kept failing him and what needs to be done to achieve a proper set of glasses that suited his vision. No other opthomologist could make an accurate pair of glasses for his eye sight with v high power. Nobody refered us to see her, I had to research a lot with the help of reviews online and Ultimately found her the best I ve seen so far. It is true the wait seems long each time I take my daughter but the Dr. at the Suwanee location has taken good care of my daughter's eyes since she was 4. When she needed additional medical care, they took the time to address those issues so that she does not have issues seeing to read or in the classroom. She enjoys going to the eye Dr. and we just plan the extra time because the thoroughness of the exams is always good. read more

The doctors and assistants are always professional, nice, and informative. The girl at the front desk always seems a bit dry but she's busy so she is probably just trying to get work done. Great selection of eyewear. They email you for confirmation of appointments as well as when they close unexpectedly, for example in February when the bad snow storms came through (snowpocalypse) they informed all of their patients of the closing. read more

Unacceptable Long waits every time (the receptionist actually said the normal wait time is longer than 2 hours!!!), impersonal service, expensive, the eye doctor we saw was rude, and they don't return phone calls. Always dread taking my myself or my kids here because I know its going to be an unpleasant experience and long wait. Bottom line is they take their customers for granted. I scheduled eye exams for contacts & eyeglasses for myself and my son. The check-in was via the computer and was really not user friendly for a first-time patient. That should be for returning patient check-in. We had to go to multiple rooms just to complete the exams. I leave with prescriptions for both my of us, only to find out that the contact piece was not included and they wanted us to return in order for them to give me the contact portion. No one stayed this during the exams, after the exams not at check out when I asked if I had everything that I needed. With them knowing that I came in specifically for contacts for my son & contacts as well as eyeglasses for myself, no one has even followed up to ask if we are still interested in contacts seeing that THEY were aware that we needed to return for contacts. Again, I only find this out because I called to get our contact prescriptions because they were not included in the paperwork. As if that was not enough, my husband's eyeglasses has been ready for pick up for over a week and he only found out they were ready during my phone call about my missing contact lens prescriptions. Poor service. Save yourself a headache and go anywhere but here! I would not recommend them ever! I never write reviews...but this experience deserved my time. read more

This is my second visit to this eye group, separated by 3 years. My first visit was "meh" and so was the second. The wait is long, they are overpriced and the doctors are mediocre. Overpriced for sub par service. Expect to wait 60-90 minutes to be seen. The reason for my follow up with this office was that they wrote a report to my pediatrician stating my child needed a follow up exam, for a possible cataract, but never informed me. I didn't find out for a year later. Second visit was painfully slow and just when you think you are done dealing with this office, they mess up your billing with my insurance. They also did not log a payment I made. I spoke with Brittney in billing who is obviously not in love with her job, was snippy and spoke to me as if I could not do math. I know my Ps and Qs and you can NOT try to talk me in circles and expect me not to follow. I follow! and I won't take the brush off approach. Lastly, I called to try and get my child contacts instead of glasses, they wanted to start the whole process over again since it had been 6 months. Thank you but NO, I will head over to Advanced Family Eyecare. And if I ever need a ophthalmologist, I will head over to Milan. read more

They are not professional when it comes to respect the appointment time. You have to wait for hours. Staff is not friendly. I came here for my daughter's appointment. My appointment was at 4:00 pm. Had come 20 mins before my appointment just to make sure I don't loose my appointment spot. But just for simple eye checkup without dilation took them more than 2 hours. I could leave only after 6:00 pm ... will really not recommend for anyone ...so unprofessional! read more

Called and made an appt. for a cataract consultation. On my first visit, there was no waiting, proceeded with a full eye exam. Everything went well but at the end, they told me that the Dr. I needed to talk to was not there and I had to made another appt. a week later. A week past, went back and they did the same eye exam to me again, I told them that I had the same eye exam a week ago and the technician was not very friendly, she told me that this was the Dr's order. I was very annoyed and upset because it was not a good feeling to have your eyes re-exam and dilated again. They could have easily used the same data. Now I received a bill which is over priced for an eye exam. A lesson learned. Overall, not very professional and billing is not transparent. read more

Dr. Glenda Brown is VERY RUDE and HASTY. She was in such a hurry and attempted to stay in the room for 5 min and exit. The techs perform 99% of the visit! The techs did the refraction and I was told by the tech that the Dr. would check those values to confirm prior to the script being finalized. THAT DID NOT HAPPEN, she did look and complete the health of the eyes portion but did not confirm the script that the tech did prior to her coming in. When I asked about it and requested she at least perform the refraction herself to confirm if the techs values were correct she became VERY rude stating she has been doing this for 20+ years........etc....And how dare I question the way she does her exams. (in my opinion lack there of) .in front of my child who is sitting in the chair . I am a nurse and I get that techs assist; however most of the exam was performed by non licensed personnel and all I asked was that she perform the refraction also to ensure the prescription was correct and that the techs values were the same as she would recommend. NEVER AGAIN , would NOT recommend this Dr. at all. Maybe that is why I was able to get an appointment so easily read more

How many times can you mess up a simple appointment to receive contacts? Well at the Thomas Eye Suwanee location, the answer is 5 or 6 times. I will absolutely NOT be returning due to their poor communication and lack of professionalism. I scheduled an appointment to receive contacts for the first time. My overall appointment took 3+hours. They allowed me to schedule an appointment to receive contacts, yet upon arriving the person whose job it is to assist first-time contact wearers was not there. The doctor was not there on time either (not due to an appointment running over, I was told she was just in bad traffic). For the next two hours I received very haphazard lessons from multiple staff members on how to use contacts. Though most of that time I spent sitting and waiting for someone to show up and help. The first girl put the wrong contacts in my eyes, yet insisted they were the correct prescription. I waited 30 minutes to see the doctor again, just to have her take them out (the first office assistant hadn't taught me how to do that) and confirm that they were indeed the wrong prescription and wrong type of lenses all together. Take two involved another office assistant taking about ten minutes to very impatiently teach me how to use contacts. I was then allowed to leave (with the contacts in) but with basically no practice putting them in/taking them out myself and no instructions/detailed information on how to take care of the lenses either. When I finally was leaving, the computer system was down and they could not accept credit cards etc to pay. When I asked for a bill to take home so that I would at least have a copy of the charges, they apparently couldn't do that either. At this time they also said they would put in the order to have my year supply of contacts shipped to me in 3 business days. 3-5 days later...and no contacts have arrived. When I called the office to check on the order - I discovered that they had not even placed it yet. Their solution was that they could have the lenses expedited, but not to my home address, only to their office. So I had to make another trip to their office to pick up my lenses. When I wanted to have a doctor or specialist verify that they were indeed the correct prescription (lest I have to make yet another return visit) I was left waiting yet again for quite some time. Just ridiculously poor service on all levels. Go somewhere else! read more

The initial eye exam was fine. The staff was friendly enough and professional. My complaint is that later they incorrectly coded my child's appointment and submitted it to insurance which declined it, so they sent me a bill to pay. I checked with my insurance and they assured me they cover the simple eye exam my child received. When I attempted to call the billing department to get the situation fixed, I was given the run around! And then they turned my account over to collections!!!!!! It is their mistake and they keep assuring me they resubmitted it correctly when after I check with insurance they still haven't fixed the problem - this is still not resolved and the billing manager has yet to return my messages! Poorly run billing department. I liked the clinic but what a hassle and it makes me feel like they don't care about patients, just the dollar! BEWARE!!!!! read more

The Doctor was great however the same can't be said about the staff. The appointment was made in person 6 days in advance and in person to confirm insurance. The day before the appointment the office staff called to confirm the AVN number as they wrote it down incorrect from my card when I made the appointment. After the appointment of 2 hours for a routine eye exam I was informed that actually I am not covered for hardware (lenses/frame). Confused I left and called the insurance and they confirmed twice to myself and my husband that we are covered. We went back and was told by the office staff that they don't file claims for hardware unless it is the 6 providers they deal with. She refused to call my insurance to verify and simply stated that our plan doesn't cover vision. She got frustrated and went to Carli, who's role is unknown and she present a business card with the office manager details in my husband hand and said call my manager and turned around and walked off. Rude is an understatement. The other lady told both of us in front of other patients that we are rude. In a service industry, the customer is always right and if she is educated, she would have called us into an office for privacy and not insult a customer in front of other patients. read more

You will wait. Then be called. Then wait again. Then wait some more. We took our 18 mo old for different size pupils. The staff were GREAT with her, thus the high rating. The doctor who saw her (Dr. Jeri Salit) was patient, articulate, informative, and thoughtful in her responses to our many questions. Highly recommend her and if we ever need her services again, we would not hesitate to suffer the long waits to go back. Just please work on the long waiting times! read more

My 7 year-old son was diagnosed for conjunctivitis at initial visit w/ Dr. Brown (O.D.) and was prescribed a very expensive antibiotic eye drops. After a week of use, steroid eye drops were added to the prescription because redness in his eye wasn't going away. After another week of antibiotic and steroid use, I found something unusual under my son's eyelid and took him back to Dr. Brown. She had no clue and referred my son to ophthalmologist in the office. By then, I couldn't trust the office and took him to another ophthalmologist for a second opinion. It turned out that my son had a stye, and all he needed was hot compress. The other Dr. also told me that the steroid eye drop that Dr. Brown prescribed should not be used at his age, and it made his condition worse. Now, my son might need a surgery because of her misdiagnosis and misuse of the medication. What really bothers me is I specifically mentioned at the initial visit about my son's previous history for a stye. I will stay away from an eye doctor who does not even recognize a stye and prescribe over-priced medications. Not to mention 2 hours of unexplained, inconsiderate wait. read more
