Great spot to sit back and drink a few brews. Showed up with a friend on a Friday around 7PM. The guy at the front confirmed my order was great and suggested the Vietnamese wings. I had the lemon Cajun along with the truffle fries. The ambiance was great. There's a good bit of TVs along with a projector so a great place to watch the game. The food was delicious, great wings and great truffle fries. They have over 30 taps with all kinds of beer along with a handful of beer fridges you can grab from. Def a great spot for groups too. Come check it out!
Although we ended up here on accident, I'm glad we did. Honestly, I'd never considered Thistle Draftshop for dinner, but they delivered! In addition to a hearty selection of brews, and take home packs, we were pretty impressed by their elevated bar food. I mean what other brewery has Campechana and Brussels sprouts with pomegranate on their bar menu (I didn't try them, but still)?! We did order one of their deli style sandwiches, pretzel sticks with beer cheese and wings, and everything delivered. There's nothing better than an unexpected gem, right?
Great selection of beer; limited wine selection room. Good, fun atmosphere on a Thursday night. Food took a looong time to arrive. Thai-flavored Chicken Wings were so-so; dry and hardly Thai flavor - a tiny smear of Yellow Curry Sauce on the plate and a few cashews and red chillis. Hardly Thai - pricey and disappointing. Steakhouse Burger and Fries, however, were fantastic. Asked for Med-Rare but got Med, but overall very tasty. Good neighborhood gathering hole. Paid over $50 for two, including $10 tip.
Searched live music. Found Groove City Texas performing at Thistle Draftshop. They were awesome. We were a bit late. We watched from the side room. Pianist, bassist, I guess drummer. And lead singer Lady. Great selection of songs sung. My husband and I so enjoyed. Tina Turner "Whats Love Got To Do With It?" A song by Roy Orbison, The theme song from TV sitcom "The Jeffersons." "Moving on Up" So fun, so familiar. Pianist sang lead, bassist sang lead and of course the Lady. A song sung by Sade. It was so fun. Food delicious. Ordered food from bar. Excellent customer service. Restroom clean. Thank you. A really nice time. Pleasant place. Highly recommend
Lots of parking, daily specials, and solid burgers and draft list. We went in for dinner on a whim after driving by a bunch of times and seeing it was packed. There was a bingo night going on but even without events, don't expect to be seated- grab a menu, pick a table, and order at the bar, and they'll bring your order to your seat. There were also several tv's showing that night's game (basketball) so it was a really, let's say, spirited environment for a weekday night. Despite the packed house, we got our burgers out in a reasonable time, pretty quick. I got the classic burger with fries, and it was a solid meal.
My husband and I visit many breweries throughout the country. The beers here were so good. We enjoyed that they even had local breweries beers. Unfortunately, I don't remember the names of the four beers we had. I know that they were under the Big and Heavy menu and one was a stout the other was a nitro. I think the other was a triple. Service was great. The place is quite relaxing. Food was so good. We will definitely be coming back.
I been coming here since it opened. This is "Cheers" version of a bar for me. The staff is always amazing and always helps with recommendations. I love draft beer and the options they have in a can as well. The beer does fluctuate for variety, but there is always a selection. My favorite day to come is on Thursdays for Bingo. Everyday is a theme and you can always find the schedule on social media. I love the vibe of this place and the maturity of the guests and music selection.
Thistle is a really fun spot for hanging out with friends and enjoying drinks/food while watching a game. They have multiple large screens for watching football as well as a large patio area. There is also a lounge space and circle bar. The food options are diverse for a draft shop. We got the wings and pasta salad - both were great! The most impressive items on the menu are, of course, their draft selection and take home beverage wall. This consists of an entire wall of fridges filled with beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages available for purchase to take home. They have monthly activities - like burlesque or trivia - flyers posted throughout the space. Parking fills up but there are additional spots behind the building. Great spot if you're looking to try new beverages and have a fun evening!
I've been to thistle a few times now and always had a good experience. The vibe is nice, service is good. The food is good too but a bit expensive. I paid $18 for the fancy ass truffle fries ($15 + tip), which is crazy. They were good but for bar food that price is a little much. I could get a full meal for that price and then some. Me and my friends went for trivia (on Tuesday's) and it was ok. Lots of teams playing and the bar was pretty noisy - hard to hear the trivia announcer. We probably wouldn't go back for trivia. Overall, thistle is usually pretty good but a bit expensive, loud, and busy. Just not really my vibe haha
I was thinking about that scene in Pulp Fiction where Vincent Vega is taken aback by Mia's $5 milkshake. He said "I don't know if it is worth $5 but that's a dam good milkshake." My 16 y/o grandson was in the mood for a burger so we went to Thistle Draftshop. We took a seat and were promptly attended to. I had the classic burger and he ordered the Thai burger. Normally, when I ask him how his food is I get a grunt or an "ok" but several times he said his burger was "great." I thought mine was pretty good also. I think that's the first burger I ever had where the bun didn't fall apart before I finished the burger. Those are the crispiest fries I've ever had, and I mean that in a good way. They do breakfasts also, and brunch on the weekends. Good food and a large selection of brews. Several TVs and big screen TVs also. Was it worth $16? I don't know, but it was a really good burger
Thistle is a terrific place to hang out, enjoy a very wide selection of draft beers and enjoy some very good pub food. It's a casual barn-like space, open to the outside when the weather is decent, and there's also an outside patio in back, along with more parking. They have a large projection TV for showing sports, etc as well. Service from the bar, but the crew is friendly and responsive. I've been numerous times both for business and casual meals and the food has been consistently excellent. The menu is not too large and is primarily pub fare - burgers, sandwiches, etc, but the food is amazingly good. It's certainly more expensive than a fast food burger, but in today's market $16-18 for a really good burger with fries is not out of line and the quality is superb. The list of sharables is pretty extensive and the brussel sprouts are wonderful - I could make a meal out of those. Last night my partner and I split a burger and an order of sprouts and it was plenty of food for two.
A great experience! The staff, food, and whole experience were amazing! The bartender was very friendly, made great recommendations, and overall, we had a great chat with him. The rose cider I ordered was the perfect mix of rose flavor with the crispness of cider. The thai burger I ordered with the truffle fries and o my goodness what the burger one of the best things I have ever had. Sweet, salty, spicy and tangy, all the things you look forward to but between buns. The truffle fried where also very delicious but after starting our meals we realized quickly it was a lot of food! Looking forward to going back and trying more of the menu!
Overall, a pretty decent spot for the area to get lunch. Definitely on the pricier side for what the food really is. The truffle fries app is $14 and the pork belly taco (2) are around the same. Friendly service, plenty of seating - at bar or at a table. Pork belly tacos had a lot of unique flavor throughout and maybe could've been a bit less crunchy but still a good choice. The aioli of course makes the fries, as per usual. But the truffle and parm amount was a solid ratio to fries. A lot of interchanging draft beers as well.

Start off It's the best beer garden I've been in Houston/spring area thus far!!!!!! The beer selections are AMAZING! I'm a dark, stout lover and this beer called saloon door is exactly as described "tasty AF" The food is perfectly tasty for beer matching as well!! People of Spring, Tomball, pretty much everyone in North of Houston, Thistle Draftshop is a destination you have to check out for great food and beer at a great price! I have came here a few times already and every time it's always a great time. Now, I live on the west side of Houston so it would take me at least 45 minutes to get to this place, but man, every time is always fun and get to meet new people there. The first thing you'll notice is how spacious the restaurant is with all kinds of seating, event space, lounge couches, and patios. There's always some sort of special every day of the week days and of course great happy hour price on the beer. Speaking of beer, the people who work there are very knowledgeable about what they have on tap and even if you have read the menu thoroughly with great detail on the styles of beer, sometimes a human suggestion is all it takes to find a new beer for your liking. They also sell cold beers for you to take to-go. But you can get beer anywhere, it's the food that really made the time here even better. The menu is extensive but not overwhelming. I was recommended to get at least the braut of some kind and my friend decided to go for the Kimchi Braut while I got the Bacon Grilled Cheese sandwich that came with a tomato soup. Before that since I was there on Monday night, I got the oysters on a half shell as it's fresh Gulf oysters that's shucked well and decently flavorful. My friend and I got an appetizer, he got Dees Knots (because his last name is Dees) and I got the Octopus tostada, both were wonderful and tasty. One thing surprised me was how cool the tomato soup was. I thought the soup may be piping hot but a slightly cool soup goes better with a hot cheesy melting sandwich for me to dip in. Thistle Draftshop also have games like corn hole for you to play inside or outside, and it's always a good time drinking beer and playing corn hole with new friends. But sometimes, you will get a few surprises like a local patron who have a bird to accompany him! Ms. Mary is one of those people who you meet once, and you can never forget them. I had the pleasure of filming Thistle Draftshop for my YouTube series "This Is Houston" in December 2018, EAGER to explore the gastropub that's right down the street from my house. They're a beer bar, restaurant, retail store and venue all in one, with bay doors (it used to be an auto repair garage) that open depending on the weather. Located in northern Spring near The Woodlands, Thistle Draftshop has the execution of a bar in the heart of downtown Houston, with the feel of "Cheers," that neighborhood bar where everybody knows your name. While filming, I was treated to a barley soup and steak dinner prepared by chef Ernesto Villarreal, and I was also introduced to Texas Keeper No. 1, a cider that I instantly fell in love with. Dimly lit and MASSIVE, Thistle Draftshop rotates 60 beers on tap, with steak and taco nights, plus breakfast options, coffees and game nights. They also have a reading lounge and a separate room dedicated for events. Their taps are sourced from the litany of breweries in and around the Houston area--some as far as my hometown of New Orleans--with a wall of coolers offering proprietary drinks and other craft beer brands. My shoots almost always run long because I'm usually greeted by some of the most welcoming small business owners. Mary Thorne, however, took that to a whole new level: mom, but a boss--nurturing, while being someone you can't wait to have a drink with. Not only that, but midway through our interview, she managed to list what amounted to a manifest of craft beer brands: "11 Below, Back Pew, Southern Star, B-52's a really good one, Spindle Tap, Holler Brewing, Buffalo Bayou--I mean, the list goes on and on..." Yes, I did just transcribe all of that to emphasize how Thistle Draftshop is a great enterprise being run by someone who *knows* her products; Ms. Mary has been in the brewing business for years. Soon after getting my new job with a book publisher, I had my heart set on visiting Ms. Mary and her team for a burger and a beer. But COVID-19 put a damper on that. They're offering curbside service, thank God, but it's not the same as dining in and taking in the full atmosphere. Attached are stills from the episode. This place was amazing! The beer selection was great, but the food was what I really loved. The burger was cooked perfectly, and the truffle fries are absolutely amazing! The feel of the place was very relaxed, and I wasn't worried about COVID at all because of how much space there is. I highly recommend this for a lunch meeting or a little hang out spot for friends. read more

Finally had an opportunity to drop by and taste the craft bar food featured here on what sounds like an amazing menu. Midday and with my 16 year old so o didn't sample the wide variety of beer and alcohol that is there centerpiece but rather some craft soda and lunch items. The place is open and airy and staff is very attentive. We warmed up with the pork belly tacos and found them outstanding. The pork belly was crisp and cut in small chunks reminiscent of cracklins. The dressing and salsa were a perfect compliment. My boy and I opted for burgers. He opted for a classic take on a cheeseburger while I went with their version of a blue cheeseburger. Both came hot, fresh and juicy with plenty of fresh quality toppings. The fries accompanying were crunchy yet light and were their tasty version of ordinary fries. They offer other options but these were perfect so I may never no. Definitely worth a return with someone street legal so we can engage in the full experience but delicious nonetheless. read more

So this place is pretty cool, I mean if you like good beer and a nice little bottle option. Bottles and cans in fridge are very inexpensive, you can get them to go or in house (2.50 corking fee) I know it's a bit crazy to think that you have to pay $2.50 for them to crack a can for you, but honestly I can't stress this enough cans and bottles are very reasonable.... So 4 stars because it's got a great atmosphere and good selection, just not an awesome selection. read more

Great craft draft house with 60 taps. They cycle the beer selection weekly plus they have 11 cases of craft beers in packages from meads, cider, beer and wine. the menu and weekly specials are out of this world, taco Tuesday, steak Wednesday or fish Friday. Its a great stop to pop in for lunch or dinner which I do a lot. read more

Spacious, friendly and comfortable atmosphere. Staff is accommodating and knows their menu. They all make you feel at home. They have a room off to the side available for private parties, meetings etc. Our networking group uses these accommodations twice a month. Love their avocado toast! Everything is fresh and served at the perfect temp. We all order something, so I know this from the others in our group. Spic and span restrooms/spacious, too. Definitely a place to visit if you haven't already. read more

Wow. My first mistake was bringing my father. The concept of sitting and getting up to order when you need service does not compute for him. It honestly didn't go over well with me. I was excited to try some new "tapas' style foods, but even though the over all flavor of the oysters was good, they were really expensive and oddly paired with unleavin (sp) bread. Not a good pairing in my opinion. We wound up finishing our modest app and good beers and going a few doors down for brunch. I hate to see a good looking, well setup venue that I am going to guess won't survive the grinder of Northwest Houston Restaurants. But lackadaisical service and high prices are a bad sign. read more

Top-notch new place. Thistle Draftshop is a brand new local craft brew pub in Spring, TX, on FM 2920 near Gosling Road. We went on Friday night. The ambiance is terrific - two large garage doors open in the front of the place, and one gigantic one in the back, also open, make it feel like an outdoor patio, perfect for nice spring evenings. It also has a little living-room like area at the front. There are high-top tables and regular seating too. There are large screen TVs on the wall for game-time. They have an extensive beer list - and I mean, extensive! Lots of craft beers from all over the country, many local Houston-area choices (like Conroe's Southern Star brewery), and some international beers too. They also have an eclectic menu with small bites and full meals. We tried several different burgers, Vietnamese chicken wings and house-cured pork belly tacos. All the food was terrific: my 15YO son loved the chicken wings and tacos; my wife and I had habanero-bacon blue cheese burgers which were wonderfully prepared, and our other son (17YO) had a plain cheeseburger, as he does. Everyone loved their meal. And let me add: the truffle-Parmesan fries did not disappoint! They have craft sodas, too, for minors who can't have the beers. They also have a wine list, but we didn't get anything from that; let's be honest, we went for the beers! We are very happy to have this place open locally, can't wait to go back and have more meals here and try more of the craft beers. read more

The bartenders was amazing ( Dawn) he gave us amazing options of drinks and food for us to try, loved it, I asked for truffle fries and they amazing, they were supper crunchy and full of flavor, they were super good, the cheese was great and fresh, I also got the broiled oysters and they were the best thing ever!!!!!! They were so good!!! Best oysters ever!!!!!, the beer was amazing, best temperature and the wine was it of this world, love it, I so recommend this place, amazing for it try out, cute guys everywhere read more

This is a cool place any beer lover needs to try. Amazing selection of beers, looked to be around 50 on tap beside the full wall fridge of bottles and cans. This is a real beer connoisseur's dream. Doors were open for a nice breeze as well. Also had the broiled oysters which were amazing and the wings with house made blue cheese which was hands down best wings I can remember having. Oysters were fantastic with breadcrumb and spinach and finishing with just the right amount of heat. read more

Hoping that the reason I read and write reviews is valid. This place got some nice reviews. Started a little slow. Walked in, sat at the bar while the dude behind the bar was staring off into space and then walked away. Finally a nice young lady looked over and asked what I'd have. That took awhile. Ordered the cheddar burger and truffle fries. Can't wait! The atmosphere is most def chill! Family oriented is obvious, and they have a ton of board games near the back. Soooo...so far so cool! Takes awhile for the burger. Looks awesome! Now I sit and wait for someone to stop by as I got no silverware! Ok got that finally! Ok - this burger really is sooooo good! You can tell they're made fresh on the spot, and well worth any wait time! I'll be back if I'm ever in the neighborhood. That burger really was the bomb! The service is "meh" and takes a 5 down to 4! Still in their soft opening stage, but this place is definitely worth getting an uber to, with your friends. I was only able to try the roasted brussel sprouts with pomegranate (yum!), but they were very good. Their greens rival my favorite brussel sprouts from Uchi. Plus, I was made aware I able to eat them because the staff was inadvertently made aware of my celiac status (boo) and brought them to us! A+ staff. Even my old school, beer snob dad was impressed with the selection of canned and on tap beers. Go check them out if you're in the neighborhood. read more

Lunch today was terrific. I had classic burger with fries. Paid the $2 extra for cheese and truffle fries. I really liked the flavor of the bun, sauce, loaded with lettuce and pickles. The freshly made pork rides with tuna tartar was a tasty blend. Didn't try the beer, something for future. read more

Is this a kid friendly place?
Somewhat… I believe they have some board games and the menu features some kid items. However it really is more for beer lovers who appreciate craft beer and great (eclectic) food.
Do they often rotate their offerings to include some of the more well known Michigan breweries (New Holland, Founders, Bell's, etc.)? And can I bring in my own growler to be filled?
