Met a friend here and the service and ambiance are what you would expect local gem mixed with sports bar. We had a good time and the menu was great. I had the tuna appetizer and I definitely recommend it. We each had a beer. The only disappointing factor is there are no raw items on the menu. We had a friendly server that was patient with our table, even though we have been there a hundred times some of the table could not decide what they would like. Food was decent like always, not my favorite as everything was fairly cold by the time it made it out to us since some of the table got wings which takes longer to cook. Happy hour specials for house liquor and wine. Get there early as the mosquitoes and no seeums start to come out once the sun starts to go down. I cannot say how pleasantly surprised I was to discover this great neighborhood bar/restaurant. We went on a late Sunday afternoon and walked into a packed house. A number of football games were on numerous televisions and the energy was great but not overwhelming. We were immediately greeted by our server and drink orders were placed. Great pours and tasty cocktails. The menu is quite extensive with something for everyone. We ordered artichoke dip which was piping hot, flavorful, abundant, and served with a large amount of fresh chips. The mozzarella sticks were good but nothing different then served in most bar/restaurants. We also enjoyed the fresh coconut battered Shrimp. Excellent! Entrees were also not disappointing. Perfectly seared scallops and tasty fish and chips (not a big fan of the fries). Key Lime Pie for dessert finished a great dinner. Highly recommend! read more

We were visiting family from out of state and decided to try this place out. We sat outside and it was a cool place. They have a jungle type set up with tiki torches lit up. The customer service was great. Our server was new but she did amazing. The food was pretty good. We tried a few appetizers and they were all good. I was looking at yelp for restaurants near out hotel and found Thirsty Turtle which was literally around the corner from the hotel. It's located in a strip mall so there isn't much to say about the front of the store. We went in and it was friendly. There were several TV's with different games going on. On the wall, next to the entrance were several signed dollar bills and just to our dismay, lots of Yankees memorabilia and us being Red Sox fans was slightly depressing. The waiter was friendly. We stared with fried calamari. It may have been a little over cooked as I found several pieces that all I could taste was the batter and not the calamari. However, the sauces were tasty and went very well with the calamari. I ordered the fish and chips. It was very good. The batter was thick and tasty. The fish easily fell apart which made me know it was well cooked. My daughter decided on the coconut shrimp and enjoyed it as well. My wife went for the seared scallop cobb salad. She said it was very good. The vegetables were fresh and the dressing good. She was a little disappointed at the amount of scallops she received. It was a nice meal. read more

We really had a different experience our second time. So we were standing by the host stand waiting for our table, 2 feet away. 20 min later, still waiting and people are walking in and being sat. I go check in and ask why we are not being sat and she said, oh it says you were sat already..... we were standing in front of the host stand! Then we get sat, and Brittney is our server. She really lacked any customer service skills. Unfriendly. Mind you she was very pregnant but still, she could try a little. Also, I asked for spicy sauce on the side, and it came out in the wrap. I couldn't eat it. The food was mediocre. The shrimp in the tacos tasted old, but they were pretty good still. The wrap I had would have been really good without the sauce on it. I mean that in the best way possible because this spot is a classic and should remain that way forever. I your the chicken wings as the best I've ever had, and after this recent visit I've converted my wife to this school of thought too. These wings are crispy, golden, juicy, and coated in an amazing tangy, garlicky slightly spicy and sweet sauce that haunts my memories! Back in the day, as a young professional on a serious budget, I came for the wings alone, always wanting to order some of the deliciously fresh seafood in the case. This recent visit I got to try it, ordering some blackened grouper. I feel like I got the wrong cut because the fish was thin and somewhat dry, but had the freshness you expect when eating seafood in FL. I was pleasantly surprised to see the Turtlen got a few updates in the past years, including some new TVs, outside tables and fans, plus a selection of craft beer, none of which took anything away from the charm of this wonderful little local restaurant.
