It has been over 30 years since I've been here. Sadly, my visit was not long enough to be able to sit down here for dinner or lunch, but we did take out from thirsty turtle express. I went into the restaurant and it is still warm and friendly And old Floridian. High top tables are near the door and booths all around, make for comfortable seating and the Floridian artifacts hanging all over the walls are the perfect touch. The best. You don't find a lot of these places left anymore and this place is iconic. For me, one of the best places for smoked fish dip and it was all that I remembered. Tasty smoky and perfect for a sunny Floridian afternoon. Something I had not tried before or remembered was their wings which have a homemade honey garlic sauce and were extraordinarily tasty. As I say, I cannot speak to anything, but those two items that we had carried out, but I will return. read more

I have been passing by this restaurant for so long as I travel up and down Northlake Blvd. and as I'm going in and out of the shopping center on at Ibis. I finally decided to go there for lunch with my brother and see what it was about. I read the reviews prior to going and they weren't really spectacular so I wasn't sure what to expect. We were both seated pretty quickly and greeted by Brian our server. He had a very big smile and a very pleasant personality very friendly and helpful. And that goes a long way to making my dining experience a pleasant one. Our drinks were ordered and brought super fast. Right after we were ready to and order and he immediately took our orders for appetizers and lunch just as quickly as the drink order. My brother started off with a bowl of delicious chili and I had some baked clams oreganatta. For lunch, my brother had a delicious, huge coconut shrimp salad. For me it was the crispy clam strips with two side orders, one of rice and beans and the other fettuccine Alfredo. Everything was exceptionally tasty, hot fresh and plentiful. Brian was always helping us with refills on our soda and also chatting with us about life in South Florida and generally being a wonderful person. I don't love leaving critical reviews, but accuracy matters. On my visit, I paid with a debit card and was still charged a credit card surcharge ($2.22). I mentioned it to the server and the manager before closing out, and the charge remained with a suggestion to contact corporate. This seems like a system or policy issue that should be fixed--customers shouldn't have to dispute small fees after the fact. The rest of the experience was okay, but billing practices matter. I hope management corrects this so future guests don't run into the same problem. read more

Going downhill fast. My wife and I have been going to thirsty turtle for years. The wings have been excellent until recently. I think they have switched suppliers. I hope this restaurant is not buying from Sysco. Today's wings look like zombie mutations. Disproportionate size and broken bones throughout. When you order wings, you are lucky if you receive one or two actual wings as the order is typically 90% drums. We often order the clams appetizer, but today's clams seem to be filled with more sand than actual clam and are tiny about the size of a fingernail compared to what this restaurant offered a year or so ago. I am very disappointed in what was hopefully a refreshing restaurant for this area is turning out to become another cost-cutting chain serving Sysco style mutated chicken. Haven't written a review in a long, long time but when I get a really good meal or a really bad one I feel obligated to post. I ordered the ribs with cole slaw and red potatoes. My friend had the salmon with rice pilaf and broccoli. The ribs were tasty but not not the most tender but ok. Cole slaw was fair and the red potatoes just came out of the pot. No butter no salt no parsley. No seasoning at all. The salmon was the worst that I have ever tasted. Fishy taste with no seasoning at all! The rice pilaf was fair and the broccoli had no salt, pepper or seasoning. My father had better salmon when he was in the hospital. We tried the coca cola cake with ice cream. The cake had a good taste but one side was moist and the other side was extremely dry, almost inedible. Maybe one side dried out in the fridge or freezer. I have never had a piece of cake like that before. The sever was courteous and helpful. I have to stress this. DONT EAT THE SALMON! I wouldn't chance any of the so called " fresh fish". I was excited when I heard that a location was opening here to Loxahatchee. I have always enjoyed the ambiance of the Juno location and my only complaint was a longer wait to get in at times. I have now been to the Loxahatchee location several times and it's just not run the same. I never get greeted when entering. There is never a person up front. You consistently see people standing in the kitchen talking while you wait for one of the 30 open tables. Once you get a seat it gets better. I get a great waiter about 50% of the time and the food is always consistently good. I am a big fan of the wings here. I have also been for a trivia night where the host was awkward and went into political rants. I respect all views but don't really like hearing it while eating. Overall I gave them a 3 star. If you can tolerate everything else the food is pretty good. read more

We've been going there since it opened 5 years ago. Food and service have always been pretty good. We noticed a few months back that the food has gone hill and the Friday night crowds have disappeared. I've always enjoyed their wings, but no longer. I ordered the conch chowder tonight, it was more like a conch stew, had no liquid and tastes like it had been re-heated a few times. The elderly server noticed I hardly are it and asked if it was ok. Told her my thoughts and did nothing. I was surprised to see it on the bill. I looked on our local social media and many negative reviews also. Sounds like change of MGMT or chef. Great experience tonight we came for happy hour and decided to order some food. I ordered the wings,hot with blue cheese. My wife ordered the chicken Philly with mushrooms, peppers and onions. We both had drinks from the happy hour list The food came out quickly and looked perfect. My wings were worm but not really hot, let's say they were a little spicy but very good. The sauce is not like any I've ever tasted. Very good. My wife loved the chicken Philly sandwich. We shared her French fríes and the meal was delicious. Food = My family's faves are the wings. Burgers with sautéed caramelized onions come in second. Service = is so so. It's either an attitude or over the top and they think they're funny. But whatever. I want hot, fresh food, a full beverage and clean restaurant. We don't have to be BFF's. But we definitely appreciate a little friendly banter vs. being "looked through" and just another transaction. Ambiance = Can get very busy during games, and of course after 5pm. I *think* Tuesday is trivia night, if that's your thing. We found it loud and annoying. The chicken wings are the best, hands down one of the best places in Palm Beach County. Definitely worth the wait as they are made fried to order. I love the medium sauce they are tossed in. Service.... The few times we went on the girls at the front are a bit distracted and one time they didn't even acknowledge us... she just said "3?" As in the amount in the party. We were really excited about Thirsty Turtle opening out west on Northlake Blvd....however, the restaurant is so dirty we cant even go there anymore. The windows are smeared with food, bugs in window sills and tables on patio are always dirty. Clearly there is a lack of good management - the staff huddle around the bar area talking when they could be pitching in to improve the cleanliness. If this is what the front of the restaurant looks like, we can only imagine how bad the kitchen is. We love good music but The music is so loud you cant hear the people at your table. Literally nothing to write home about. I received a $50 gift card and went to the restaurant to use I very clearly asked the waitress to check on what price entrées were going to be. She came back and told me that would be 24.95. Not only did she confirm this, but it was within earshot of the cashier for reiterated that. based on that, I decided to get a soup and the entrée. To drink I just got a water with lemon so I was shocked to receive a $47 bill. She then explained that the grouper was $10 more when I had specifically asked what the highest price entree was. She claims she spoke to the manager and was so happy to tell me she could take two dollars off. I gave her the $50 gift card and told her three dollar tip it was included. About the food the soup was conch chowder, ok but not great. Although the broccoli was nicely steamed the red skin potatoes, neither had red skin nor were they seasoned basically three little boiled potatoes I even had to ask for sour cream for them. The place is very noisy and fairly greasy and dirty. I should've just walked out the moment I came in and given the gift card to somebody else and the best part was at the $35 piece of grouper was no bigger than a deck of cards. We went early evening on a Monday so sat right down, but there were quite a few tables full even at 5:00. Where to start? Great choices on the menu. We started with the nachos with chicken. WoW! What a great amount of melted cheese! Condiments came on the side which was different, but it prevented us picking off the stuff we didn't want so .... I had the beer-battered shrimp with fries. Shrimp were large and moist! Great cocktail sauce too. The fries were really good - cut in little crescents & tasted like real potato. Loved them! Son had the shrimp scampi & ate all of it! The rice sucks. They only serve Pilaf, even with what they'd call Asian dishes... haha. Do not order ANYTHING that says scampi in the menu. It simply is awful and tastes terrible. Not sure why the rating for this place isn't higher. We've eaten here before and haven't been disappointed. Ate there today, hubby had steak poivre and he was a bit nervous, only because this isn't a steak place. While it wasn't USDA or anything, it was surprisingly tender and the au poivre sauce had good flavor. His only complaint was that the red skinned potatoes were whole (he actually had to cut them and apply the butter himself, he was thinking they'd be more like a side dish than just 3 small while potatoes). I got the seafood combo with fried clams and coconut shrimp and WOW were they good! Plus the jalapeño bacon Mac and cheese as a side was so yummy, just enough heat from the jalapeños and not too spicy. Lots of TVs to keep you entertained with whatever sport is going on. Also, Lori was our server and I saw the previous comments but we found her friendly and attentive. I think people need to remember there's still a shortage in servers and that weighs heavily on those that are picking up the shifts. Give your server a pass if they don't smile as big or as often as you'd like. They're working their ass off while we sit and enjoy a meal out. read more

Not one of our favorite restaurants, but we came in for a quick burger which are usually good. My husband had chicken tacos and found a big piece of plastic in his tacos. Sal, the owner came over and gave us a comment about "You know this is not that kind of restaurant". He offered us another plate of food which we turned down. We , however, expected the dinner of tacos would be taken off the bill. It was not. We did not even get a free dessert or free drink. Also, I asked my waitress for pickles to go with my burger halfway through my meal and she never brought them back out to me. I told her at the end of the meal since I never saw her again until then and she said "oh sorry". Very disappointed in Sal and very disappointed in the waitress service tonight. After a day at the beach I stopped in hoping for a good dinner...I was underwhelmed. I started with the crab stuffed mushrooms. The filling was mostly breading instead of crab and the mushrooms were tiny. They were ok but nothing spectacular. I chose the fried shrimp tacos for my meal with a side of black beans and rice. The black beans and rice were good and had peppers/onions in them. The tacos were your usual restaurant shrimp tacos. The server Maddy was attentive and very nice. Our bills got mixed up at the end but she quickly corrected them for us. I went to the west palm location and online it looks like the st. A terrible experience from start to finish. We arrived on a quiet Monday night, but after being told we'd be seated right away, the hostess disappeared for 20 minutes. Once seated, our appetizer took over 40 minutes to arrive, and after finishing it, we waited another 20 minutes for the server to take our order. After another 40 minutes, with most tables cleared out, our food arrived, but the chicken Caesar wrap had raw chicken inside. The server apologized and promised a fresh one, but then disappeared for another 25 minutes. At this point, we were nearing two hours. When the check finally came, they had the nerve to charge us for the raw wrap. After handing over the credit card, it took another 15 minutes to process the payment. Went to the Northlake location last night (Friday) after visiting the Jupiter location several times. Walking in, our interaction with the hostess was not fantastic. Not the worst, but they could use some training on saying hello to customers when they walk in, as opposed to staring like a deer in the headlights. We noticed it did not seem to be exceptionally busy for a Friday night. After we were seated, we ordered drinks which took a little longer than expected but again, not awful. Our server came and took our order without asking if we wanted to start with anything but again, not the worst thing. We waited quite awhile for our food, and noticed several other tables who had arrived after us had gotten their meals. Things start to go downhill at this point. Our server came by and dropped our check on our table and we stopped her and let her know we had not gotten our food yet. She apologized and said "oh sorry, it's not you guys", which I thought was a strange response but okay. She went to check on our food and a little while later, a different server came over with our order...all in to go boxes. She asked if it was our order I said oh I certainly hope not, since ours was not to go. Our food finally came out on actual plates another 5-10 min later. Food was okay, nothing super great but not bad. We ordered the key lime pie for dessert, which was really just cheesecake with a hint of lime. Our server asked how it was, and we gave her an honest review that it wasn't actual key lime pie. She did take it off our bill (which we were happy to pay, but it was a nice gesture), however made a comment that she took it off the bill but wasn't going to tell the in house baker that we didn't like it. The comment kind of invalidated taking it off the bill, and after so many other server errors, I can't say I'm impressed. Hopefully they can work on their staff training to improve. read more
