Waterway's refresh is quite lovely. It went upscale a bit but it's still approachable and casual. There is an expanded area for more outdoor seating and an enlarged dockside bar. They've added a fire pit or two and have some seating dockside where you can lounge with a cocktail. Dockage for those who want to arrive in your boat is provided as well. Service was attentive and responsive. Appetizers and meals came out in good timing. While the prices are up noticeably, so too are the presentations and flavor profiles. They've got some lovely specialty cocktails too. Our dishes were quite flavorful. I had the maple glazed Antarctic salmon with asparagus and garlic whipped potatoes. So tasty. The maple glaze had chili flakes in it which kept the sweetness in check. The salmon was boneless and perfectly cooked. Asparagus and potatoes rounded out the dish as it should. The smoked swordfish, I forget the glaze, had a perfect hint of smoke but still allowed the flavor to come through. Well balanced flavors. The Parmesan crusted chicken was crispy and the chicken was tender and just right. A great dish for those who may not enjoy fish. I saw filet au pauve, and almost ordered that but figured I'm at The Waterway, I should order fish. Regardless, with chicken, pork, and beef on the menu, your group will be able to find something you like. Plan to spend a little more than you used to at Waterway, but it is worth it. That and the slightly bland key lime pie, I reduced 1 star. Finally, the vibe and customers were great. Good happy energy and loads of laughter and easy going conversations all around. Saw a few large tables celebrating birthdays, it was a lovely evening. We're looking forward to returning. read more

20% SERVICE FEE !! On entering the restaurant the first thing you notice is a sign stating a 20% Service fees automatically added to all checks so as to ensure their staff receive a living wage ! This IS NOT a tip it's because the restaurant wants YOU to contribute towards the salaries they pay their staff - obviously they are not paying enough. The food is mediocre. My Cuban sandwich was inedible. The other meals served to our party of 3 were barely acceptable. Even the coffee was only luke warm and granted the management comped part of the meal - with 20% enforced diners they should do MUCH better. Our server,Jessica, kept apologizing however she was the best part of the night. Upbeat, friendly and trying to overcome a bad situation. She deserves the whole 20% for effort. read more

The restaurant is beautifully designed, with an inviting interior and exceptional outdoor dining areas that create a wonderful waterfront atmosphere. The service is consistently attentive and professional, and the food is both creative and absolutely delicious. The portions are generous, the presentation is excellent, and the quality of the ingredients is evident in every dish. I have dined here many times, and Waterway Café has never disappointed. We were greeted warmly and promptly seated out in the covered eating area on the channel. Our server Christopher came over quickly with water and menus. He was very helpful as this was our first time. Offered suggestions, his favorites and described any item we had questions about. He came back with our beers and did a simultaneous double pour into our glasses! Never seen that before, well done Christopher! We got the blackened mahi sammich with sweet potato fries and the pistachio encrusted tile dinner. My oh my was everything delicious! Then we got the triple decker sponge cake with buttercream icing. It has been many years since the first time I went and the restaurant has been completely renovated. It's beautiful and resides with a water view on the outdoor patio. We were seated right away during lunch without a reservation and it was busy. The menu looked very good and I went for the Cuban sandwich and fries. It was delicious and plentiful! If I wasn't so full, I would had an appetizer to share. Our waiter was friendly and he made sure we were happy with everything. There were other staff members that were helping one another and the food came out in a reasonable amount of time. Maybe happy hour next time? We shall see. read more

Came here with my team and sat outside by the bridge, which gave us a front-row view when it went up. That bridge is so damn infuriating when you're trying to get somewhere . Drives me insane but it was cool to see up close. The view itself is nice outside. This was my first visit to Waterway Cafe since it reopened, and overall it lived up to a little of the hype: solid food, scenic waterfront seating, and a relaxed, casual atmosphere. I had an Arnold Palmer, and we started the table off with the Fuji apple brie pizza. Pleasantly surprised by how good that was--definitely a strong starter and one I'd recommend. For my entrée, I ordered the jumbo lump crab salad. It was delicious, the crab was plentiful, and clearly the star of the dish. My only critique is that the tomatoes were cut way too large, which threw off the balance a bit. I finished with the vanilla bean crème brûlée. It was fine--nothing bad, just nothing memorable. Came with some fresh berries in the side. Service was okay, pretty standard. Not bad, not standout. Parking was easy for weekday lunch, and the lot is fairly large, though I've driven by before when it's been completely packed, so timing probably matters. Overall, it's a nice spot; food was better than expected, service was decent, and the location does most of the heavy lifting. Came here for a birthday celebration as a party of seven. Everyone enjoyed their meal. We had the Alfredo, chicken Milanese, stir fry lobster/shrimp, burger etc. we indulged in the desserts for the birthday. The snickers explosion is HUGE, easily can share with 4-5 people. We also had the keylime pie which was very good and the orange cake which we also liked a lot. We really don't have anything negative. Our service was attentive. All our food came out together. Most importantly if you have a seafood allergy they take separating seafood from non seafood very seriously. They even have one fryer that only does French fries to avoid cross contamination. They don't fry seafood in it. This is how it should be done. The ambiance is also really nice. Looks like they renovated. I would come here again without reservation. I'm honestly surprised by the low ratings with only a 3.6 overall. We did not have 3.6 star food nor service. Maybe they had a recent change in management or chef etc. read more

Booked an inside table at 5:15pm on a Wednesday to celebrate a birthday. The renovation is spectacular; roomy open air dining room with water views of the ICW. Our server was new to the area and job. She was on point and very helpful to make our selections. We started with apps consisting of crab, spinach and artichoke dip. Entrees were maple glazed Antarctic salmon and lobster & shrimp stir fry. All servings were good portion and very flavorful. The stir fry had a bit too much soy sauce for my tasting. Dessert was finished with Key Lime Pie. Very good experience. This place has been renovated and is incredibly beautiful while still being casual dining. Sitting outside is your best bet. There are two bars outside as well as fire pits. When you walk in, no one is sitting inside on a nice day. It's a gorgeous place to eat at night. The staff is very friendly but very busy. The reason for one star isn't because of the food, ambience or staff. It's rather that the staff was so busy that three times I had to preen my neck to look for our water and I had to get up and find a children's menu myself at an empty hostess desk. Don't let this deter you though the food is delicious. The fish is fresh. The drinks are made well. The kids menu is fantastic and not as basic as most places. I'm a huge fan of the renovated Waterway Cafe. The place is beautiful and the food is a million times better. It's more upscale so the increased cost reflects this. Andy at the bar took care of us tonight and he did great job. They offer HH from 3-6 (I think only M-F) and the menu features a few dinner size options. We ordered the maple Atlantic salmon which is paired with asparagus and mashed potatoes. Although, they'll allow you to swap sides so I ordered green beans in lieu of the mashed. This was my second time ordering this dish and the quality was consistent. Finally, the restaurant and ladies restroom were both clean. Parking is still a challenge, but luckily they offer valet. The bartender was absolutely great! Five stars for his service. He was attentive, friendly, and definitely one of the highlights of our experience. Unfortunately, the food didn't quite match the level of service. I ordered the chicken sandwich, and my husband ordered the bacon cheeseburger. Both sandwiches actually had good flavor, but the buns were very soggy, which made it difficult for us to fully enjoy our meals. We also tried the bread pudding. It was good, but I do think there's some room for improvement. Overall, the service was excellent, but we were disappointed with the food quality, especially considering both of our sandwiches had the same issue with the bread. read more

I came here for a lunch meeting with a vendor and we sat outside which was nice since the weather was great that day! We enjoyed the sun while sipping on our drinks and we got the smoked fish dip which was simply delicious! I got the fresh catch of the day blackened and ate every single bite. The staff was friendly and our waitress made sure to refill my drinks. It was alo easy to find parking and we were sat down immediately. This afternoon we met another couple for a delightful lunch here. The parking lot was full at 1 pm so we valet the car which is gratis. It seems we weren't the only ones interested in eating here. It was a magnificent day and what better way to enjoy than to eat outside on the porch overlooking the waterway with all the boats and yachts passing by. The ambiance is very special. Cory was our waiter. He was very pleasant and proficient. We all chose entrees which were fresh and flavorful. I had grilled grouper over a voluminous beet and goat cheese salad. Paul had pasta over scallops and shrimp. The tuna wrap came with fries and David enjoyed it. Donna also had a grilled grouper with mashed potatoes and string beans. In review of the overall score, I find it hard to believe this has been rated below 4 stars. My personal opinion based on the food, service & ambience I experienced this is 4.5 stars. From the Valet to closing of the check, this is a place if you are in the Gardens area you need to come experience. I had the Mahi Mahi Tacos & my wife had the fresh catch (Mahi-Mahi) over a lovely constructed salad with ample amounts of greens, tomatoes, peppers, onions, blue cheese crumbles, olives...., both entrees were excellent! Didn't know what to expect but this place was awesome! Got a spicy margarita drink that was on the menu but changed the tequila to mezcal, and it was a hit. For apps we had the crab and artichoke dip (how can this go wrong?), the bang bang shrimp, and the lobster guac. Honestly the lobster guac was a little overkill for me... I think the guac was better on its own. For a main I got the grouper pasta special, and got the grouper blackened. The fish was the highlight of the dish, although I didn't mind the pasta sauce with capers. I wish the pasta itself was lighter as opposed to the large flat noodles they used, maybe a linguine would've paired well with the fish, but either way I enjoyed the dish. It was a Lobster/Shrimp salad on a tortilla bowl. It was a large portion. Mostly pieces of shrimp and small pieces of lobster claw. Lots of romaine lettuce. Not worth the price. Our waiter was good. The restaurant was very noisy. It's a big restaurant with high ceilings so it carries the noise. The restaurant adds an automatic 20% gratuity to your bill. They do tell you upfront. Waterway Cafe, before the remodel. Food was pretty good with valued prices. The place probably could have used some sprucing. But, it was not that bad. It represented old Florida by the water. I may add, it was always packed with locals and non-locals. Other than it's pretty inside and by the water. In my opinion it's overpriced with mediocre food. read more

Pulled up to Waterway Cafe with our Aston Martin crew for a car meet and somehow ended up feeling like we rented the whole place. The ambience was immaculate--laid-back waterfront vibes, perfect backdrop for shiny cars, good laughs, and zero stress. Service was chef's kiss--fast, fun, and on point. The loaded Bloody Mary came fully armed and dangerous, the grouper was hands-down the best grouper I've ever had (no exaggeration), and the eggs Benedict was on another level. Then came dessert... our main guy brought out one of everything like a true legend, and somehow they were all amazing--especially the carrot cake, which deserves its own fan club. 10/10 would rev engines, eat irresponsibly, and call this our unofficial clubhouse again. read more

We wandered into Waterway Café for a light lunch, enjoying the outdoor seating along the Intracoastal, as we prepared to leave for Thanksgiving holiday and return to winter wonderland. The renovation of Waterway Cafe in Palm Beach Gardens was completed in January 2025 after an 18-month transformation. The new design has an elegant, upscale contemporary flare, creating a brighter, more modern ambiance. An expanded outdoor seating area offers more space to enjoy the beautiful surroundings, and a new floating barge bar on the water. I would describe the atmosphere as upscale yet still approachable. During my previous visit for dinner, I noticed that some of my favorite appetizers had been removed from the menu. Today, for lunch, I found the prices to be somewhat higher compared to the pre-renovation days. Nonetheless, we ordered the Beet Salad, which was beautifully presented and delicious. The service was attentive, and available when needed. One of the highlights of the renovation is the bar area on the floating barge, which is now much more spacious and offers stunning views of the water. It's a perfect spot to unwind with a drink while taking in the scenic surroundings. read more

After an appointment with Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, my party of four stopped here for lunch. It was the first time for all of us and was recommended by a staff member of Bascom. We all had a wonderful experience. We were greeted with smiles and were seated in a booth overlooking a spectacular view. Our server, Paris, was very attentive and friendly. We ordered the crab cake and the spicy tuna for the table. Both were phenomenal! I ordered the Roasted Beet & Goat Cheese Salad. The rest of the table ordered Shrimp Stir Fry. All of us were extremely happy with our choices. Paris recommended the Orange Florida Sunshine Cake for dessert. It was delicious, moist and large enough for us to share. The beet salad was refreshing and plentiful! The Stir Fry serving was ample as well, but no one had any leftovers to take home! We all had a GREAT time! I visited Waterway for a work dinner a few months ago and it did not disappoint! The restaurant is cute & quiet. Perfect for a date night or solo dinner. Service was great and the staff was very attentive. I ordered the conch fritters which were good but I wish had more conch. I also ordered the stuffed snapper after much debate since the photos online did not do it justice at all. Overall the experience was good and I would return on my own. read more

In all honesty, the upgraded atmosphere and finishes really hit the mark The inside dining room is beautiful and the new layout with the bar position is much better! The outside has been totally revamped and is coastal modern with beautiful lines and styling. The star of the show though is the floating barge - to be able to sit at either a table on the water around the bar , or at this big, beautiful bar, and order food and drinks was the highlight of our dining experience! As for the food, we had a couple of our old favorites that included Ahi tuna stack and the calamari and both were great... sime other hits are the lobster guac and the bacon cheeseburgers. I'm personally not going to waterway for fine dining so I'm not gonna order a $35 piece of fish... If you go with the intention of sharing a few appetizers with friends and to enjoy the atmosphere , I think this place will always be a winner! read more

The Food is top notch quality. So delicious. For an appetizer we had the Crab and Spinach Artichoke dip. Absolutely delicious. For lunch we had their Special which was Lobster and Shrimp Taco salad! Fabulous!!!! ALL was recommended by our wonderful and attentive server, Travis! He was the absolute Best! And then for our Grand Finale, Thee Dessert...
