We stayed at the Hyatt for C2E2 2024. Although I had in and out parking privileges, me and The Queen did not want to go out to eat per se. Me and The Queen dined here for breakfast. The prices were not bad for hotel food, $24 for all you can eat. There was an option to order from the main menu or do the buffet, so we went with the buffet. They did not have an omelette station, but you were able to have a made to order one made for you. There was the typically breakfast brunch fair, but I noticed that they kept it moving so it was fresh. I loved that they had smoked salmon with all the fixings for bagels and lox. Even though it was a buffet, the staff was on point checking in on us. And I loved that some of them were in cosplay :-) For those who may have been on a budget, you could get your fill here at breakfast and skip lunch. Was here for a conference and this was one of the only places for breakfast. Was sat promptly, and was told that someone would be by in a moment. Looking around I noticed several tables waiting for food so I decided to get the buffet. Pretty standard setup with egg's to order and omelettes. However there was no chef to be seen. After I got my buffet food I went back to my table to find that no one had been back to get me a drink. I ate my food and finally someone can by to take my drink order. Had breakfast here a couple of times. The buffet is very good you get a made to order omelette that is bought to you by the waitress. No lines. There is a griddle pancake of the day. Eggs, bacon, sausage, oatmeal & fixings, fresh fruit including oranges, bananas & melons( which are not on the menu separately), lox, capers, cream chees., yogurt, cold cereal, & juices. No vegan options outside of fruit & cereal @ the buffet. Also when I asked about vegan eggs; no suggestions were made. But there is a tofu scramble on the menu. Went here today with colleagues for lunch since we were at McCormick Place for ProFood Tech, but it was just okay. We actually all ordered the Greek turkey burger, with fries. I did like that they offered an assortment of sides such as a cucumber tomato salad or a quinoa salad. It took a while to get water refills, which is a pet peeve of mine. Prices were reasonable considering it was a hotel restaurant, the burger was $15. I'd go back again if I was at McCormick for a show but I wouldn't order what I did, as it was only average. Dinner was good enough and reasonable although very expensive drinks that were not that special and were weak. Tip of 18% was added for "large group" of six so actually they got less than we would have given. Breakfast buffet was not very good - there were two lines so it looks like more than it is, food was cold and not particularly tasty. Menu item one of us got - blueberry pancakes was better. I'd recommend menu but be aware plain coffee is then $4 extra (included in buffet). Waitress Alicija was great and brought rating up. UPDATE - after eating here two more times during a 5 day Star Wars convention, I am upgrading from 3 to 4. Breakfast from the menu while a little slow during busy time was much better. I was a little skeptical about trying this place after reading yelp reviews. But to be honest I felt it was a very very decent place. The patio was open and it had 3-4 fire places with relaxing couches. Rock n roll music was paying on a perfect volume. The restuarent staff was friendly and caring too. We ordered deviled eggs, tofu tacos and chicken wings. All of them were really good. Wings were cooked to perfection (I have had terrible wings at well known places). Deviled eggs could have been a little more hot.. But I don't mind. I would not discourage people from trying out this place. read more

I find it very difficult to find any redeeming qualities about this place. They gained a star for comping the breakfast (I refused to eat because it was so terrible) but still $30 for one adult and one child to eat breakfast, while making said child wait the whole meal for crayons/markers and at the trail end giving him a used pen to play with the menu they provided still fails to sit well with me. If you're at the hotel and have a hankering for breakfast I strongly urge anyone to walk a little and go somewhere else. read more

If you're going to be stuck paying $25 for breakfast, you'd hope it'd be a damn good breakfast with good service. Such is not the case at Third Star, the breakfast eatery at the Hyatt Regency. The restaurant was empty when I showed up. The waiter took my order and when I asked him about an asterisk on a 2/2/2 breakfast platter, he told me that some fancy sausage was extra charge I chose a regular sausage instead. He asked me if I wanted coffee? Yes. Did I want cream or milk? Milk, I replied. I waited almost 10 minutes for the coffee to arrive (suggestion - diners will bring out a coffee pronto, especially for breakfast) and then tried to flag the waiter down to get some milk. He replied, "You didn't ask for milk." Um, yes, I did. And this is where a simple, "Sorry" would have negated a growing bad experience. Another person arrived for breakfast, and to my surprise, the waiter told her that there was a breakfast buffet at the back of the restaurant. Why didn't he say anything to me? Odd omission. The food shows up - eggs over hard and oily. Chewy sausage that would have given my dogs a challenge but very nice, light pancakes. Total with coffee $25. Plus an extra $1 "plate" charge. Typical major hotel restaurant. I stared with a 3 star but after many visits for breakfast, lunch and dinners. We agreed the service and the food deserve better rating. So far we have had dinner and breakfast here. Service is fine. Dinner seemed a bit under staffed. Breakfast was fine due to buffet. We were early and much of the food was cold. Maybe out too long before service started. Food and drinks are good. And the prices are on the high side for drinks and breakfast. Glass of wine was$12. Buffet was $23 with coffee and OJ. Coffee on the menu is $4 plain coffee. Alicya was very nice at breakfast. All were very nice and worked to make the meals enjoyable. read more

I really enjoyed Third Star. Great food! They have anple vegetarian/vegan options. I got the Sofrita taci and it was BOMB. They seasoned the tofu perfectly which I find to be rare. Great service and great vibe. If I'm ever back in Chicago I will probably return. read more

Came here for dinner because I was at a conference nearby. Plenty of tables were open, but we had to wait about 20 minutes for a table. We got wine at the bar across the way - they allow you to bring it in to the restaurant if you don't finish it. Felt it was overpriced for the food you received. Started with the Spring Minestrone which had huge chunks of vegetables in it - ended up having to cut through my soup so I could eat it. Next I did the Great Lakes Caesar and the Brown Buttered Mashed Potatoes. Again just mediocre - nothing to remember or want again. Service was kind of slow, but our waitress was friendly. read more

This was a great little place! Service was great! Bread service delicious! Burgers were great for my son and I and my husband liked his ribs! The fries were really great! Better than they look even! Super accommodating with my crazy requests (switch out arugula for normal greens on my beet salad, Turkey burger instead of beef) and had a good beer selection! Not terrible prices for a hotel attached to a convention center- I was pleasantly surprised! We'd go again- you should too! Especially if you're staying here! read more

So this is the hotel restaurant, that we used for breakfast twice due to lack of choices the second time. The service here is ok, you have two choices either from the menu or buffet style. This was a good choice for a solo dinner while staying at the Hyatt for a conference. The Bolognese came with a chunk of straight up butter on top (is it supposed to be served that way? I'm not an expert) but it tasted really good actually. They have several good local craft beers. The bread was delicious. Service was great, super fast. I fell in love with the lamb stuffed dates wrapped in bacon which is probably the best thing on the menu. We came for breakfast with a group of 7, and a line was beginning to gather at the front desk where the manager was indicating that you had to have a reservation to be seated, meanwhile the restaurant was totally empty. When we attempted to make a reservation, we could not because all 7 members were not here so no one could be seated. I do understand that policy is common, it was 7am and the restaurant was empty. An angry table just decided to bypass the front desk worker and sit down anyway. Once we were seated, it was clear that our waitperson was angry, short, and not friendly. I could hear employees bickering with each other on several occasions. We had 7 customers as I mentioned and when our food came, there were several issues. I got the wrong omelet so had to switch with someone after we had already begun eating because we didn't want to get yelled at. One parties toast was wrong, one didn't get their potatoes and when the missing toast came - it was burned. The food itself was okay, the oatmeal somehow was stale though. Overall, we were super disappointed in the service - each time the server approached the table we were mid conversation and she just interrupted without so much as an apology or concern. I'm a pretty mellow customer, and I know how busy and chaotic the restaurant business is but I was super disappointed with this meal and cannot recommend going here. read more

We went here a week ago. We first stopped at Arc Bar across the hallway. The servers there were friendly and prompt. We then went to dinner. The staff was friendly. The place got really busy by 6 and the servers got stretched. The food, skirt steak (the succotash was good by itself, but complimented the tender steak perfectly) and shrimp de jhonge was very good. The restaurant was half full at best but I was still told to wait 15 min to be seated because they have been unable to clean the tables. How come it take 15 min to clean 1 table??
