I've been to Third Coast Provisions twice now -- once upstairs and once at the downstairs bar/lounge Oak & Oyster. While O&O featured some phenomenal happy hour specials (your going to ask what they were...$1 oysters, tiny shrimp cocktails, po boys, shrimp rolls and discounted cocktails..not sure of the prices..) the decor kinda had a "we're in a fixed up neighbor's basement in suburbia"feel for me personally. I much preferred the white - silver - marble Milwaukee street meets Harbor House vibe that I felt the upstairs exuded. I dined upstairs for Downtown Dining Week, and while we got a boatload (sorry, I couldn't resist) of food, we also decided to sample the intriguing appetizer "whitefish dip" of the regular menu. It came in a mason jar with crostini type Bread...kind of reminded me of those jars of Ma Baeschs creamed herring we used to keep in the fridge when I was a kid. Holy fishballs though, it was so addicting! I can't explain why or how, but it was creamy salty, not really fishy and delicious! Other things tried: a coconut Thai shrimp dish (so good but sadly came after the dip), lobster mac and cheese (meh, I wasn't as impressed.) We also had apps and desserts but these were the standouts. They have a really nice cocktail list...I personally loved "stalk and stone." I also had a couple drinks that were crazy strong here! And for whatever it's worth..after trying the West and East coast oysters...i prefer the East. But, hey, Third (time)'s a charm, right? read more

Delicious (but very expensive) oysters at $60/dozen. Really good flat bread that is not so expensive. An unusual but delicious take on steak tartare. And tuna tartare that was good but our least favorite. I'd recommend more tuna and less not so crispy rice. This was my first visit to TCP and overall, it was good. My only complaint was that we were not informed about menu items that were not available ahead of being asked what we wanted to eat. There was one appetizer and two desserts that we tried ordering only to be told they were out of them. We also had to request that our server and anyone delivering food to our table wear a mask--something TCP accommodated for us graciously, but was surprised this wasn't standard practice considering the omicron variant. A small but elegant interior with white marble and gold touches. Definite upscale feel. The name of the game here is oysters and they do them well. Started with the oyster shooters, tried the tequila mixed with lime and spicy salt on the glass. Opened up the pallette for the pacific oysters that came next as a chefs treat. For the main meal we had the Milwaukee oysters marinated with beer and a buttery/milky sauce. The lobster Mac and cheese is very rich with soft bits of lobster. The favourite would be the lobster potholes though, chunks of crab in a garlic butter sauce served in an escargot plate. All oysters and crab served with soft sourdough. If you've got room the tuna tartare squares are great balancing the soft tuna with the crispy fried rice holding it. Great seafood and very attentive service. read more

If you're a fan of Merriment Social then you will love their sister restaurant Third Coast Provisions. It is one of those spots that steps up elegant dining a notch and the place has found itself thrust into the Milwaukee food spotlight putting out some truly decadent and delicious plates of food. To say this is a joint that hooks the goods up correct is an understatement. I waited to write this review so I could experience the full scope of 3CP's offerings. Dinner hour was our first visit and it was spectacular! We sat at a table in the upper "balcony" area. First thoughts focus on the ambiance. The place is so bright yet tame with its vibrant and subtle lighting and mirror placement. You've got to respect the architecture and the feeling it gives you when entering, seating, chilling and eating. The goods: We started off with oysters of course, char-grilled. Rockefeller and straight were both scrumptious! On to dinner which we had the following meals: - Alaskan king crab risotto was off the chain in my opinion. Really good flavors and lots of crab. - Lobster pot pie was great but for the price point not my favorite but still a decent dish. - Skunka bay salmon was a dish I wished I had got but I did taste it and the salmon along with the cauliflower was amazing! Very good layers of flavors going on here. Also had the parker rolls, jeez these were off the chain and the clam chowder, so good! One helluva a bowl of chowder! The second trip was a visit to Oak & Oyster which is the basement area. Again a solid spot for that after work enjoyment/happy hour. Tasted some of the freshest and cleanly served oyster I've had the pleasure of having in a long time. Also had one damn killer Po Boy! Tried the clam chowder smothered fries which were good but being that this place is a notch up they need to step up the fry game with some hand sliced potatoes. Minor but noticeable. I forgot to mention both visits we enjoyed excellent drinks. I had a hand crafted cocktail that I particularly loved called the Crown of Thorns. It had me feeling pretty nice. In that drink is rye Whiskey, cynar, blackberry, lemon and the unforgettable star of the show, sage. The sage combined with the whiskey for an intensely unique flavor profile. All around Third Coast is one solid spot. Considering it's only been open for a short time and they are already serving it up on point they do have it going on big time. Went here for a friends birthday dinner. It's a cute restaurant don't get me wrong but to me the food was mediocre, definitely didn't think it was worth the prices. The table ordered the lobster potholes, which weren't too bad but not worth the money, steak tartare, would not recommend, taste was weird and the bread tasted like a straight up burnt toast. We had the short ribs, salmon, scallops and lettuce wraps. And all had a cocktail with our meals as well- about $15 a cocktail. My girls and I wanted to try a new restaurant that we've never been to and Third Coast Provision was definitely worth it. The hosts were very welcoming and greeted us right away and took us to our seat. Our waiter Jake was extremely kind and professional. The food was amazing, we had ordered oysters, lobster rolls, lobster potholes, lobster mac n chz, steak tartar and clam chowder soup. The house roll was excellent. The chowder was a bit too salty but tasted good apart from that. The big plateaus of raw food was mostly good, except the salmon tartare which I tried twice to eat and couldn't. I have to say that the west coast oysters tasted way better than the east coast ones, and that the seafood salad with seaweed was quite excellent. However, the dipping sauces were kind of a disappointment, in my opinion overly creative and lost the classic taste they should present - none of it worked for me and I had to eat with just lemon juice and horseraddish. The knife had a fine splinter (about 1.5 inches) that poked in my index finger as i grabbed it, that was unexpected, but they were able to change it of course. Wish they could have checked it before setting it up on the table. The lemonade was lame at best. I know Valet wasn't their fault and I didn't evaluate the restaurant based on it either, but I think it's valuable to share that the valet outside is a bit unorganized and made some big mistakes that we never encountered before - mixed up the ticket, grabbed the wrong key to get our car and couldn't get in, came and grabbed my spare key and got the car here after a long time (it's cold outside waiting for them), and then couldn't find our first key for another 10 minutes... We eventually didn't have to pay for the valet service, but it was still a bizarre experience on Valentine's Day. So I advise that you plan your parking before going there, especially on a busy day. Overall, the food was good, but I will be more selective in what I order next time if I go back. I may or may not go back. read more

Carnevor did the switch and this is the old restaurant which reminded me of the price gouging and it was true to form. Thank goodness I wasn't paying for this meal because otherwise I would have been upset. Honestly I don't mind paying good money for an amazing meal but this wasn't what I expected. I got the surf n' turf with the seared scallops. It was $35 for the filet plus another $17 for the scallops. For this price I expect more than two scallops on the plate. The scallops had a good sear, in fact too good of one because they were pretty dark on the plate. The green beans were done perfectly but the whipped gruyere potatoes were a bit thick for my liking. The atmosphere is great and the service was decent but I think the pricing is way crazy. Maybe it was my fault that I didn't stick with the surf portion of the menu. read more

Walking out of there with three apps + a glass of Prosecco down $75 didn't feel great, but the food delivers. The steak tartar was filling, wonderful tastes, and more than I expected. It's on a piece of toasted sourdough that's the absolute right thickness for the offering. The oysters (6) were good, though the skimpy size on the New England's were even smaller than expected. Taste was good though not amazing. Lastly, the mussels in the curry was definitely not what I was expecting ... I didn't finish the last 20% as I was overwhelmed with the sauce. Slurping raw and briny east coast oysters in an actual restaurant like a normal human being - heaven on dis oif! Indulging in 3CP's version of escargot drenched in garlic butter, with chunks of crab and lobster instead of snails, was terribly decadent. But we made up for it with a bright and tart green salad with fennel, green onions and crunchy marcona almonds (whatever those are). The entrees took their time showing up but it was worth the wait. I had the Lake Superior Walleye with 'whipped' potato (an unfortunate adjective), savoy cabbage and dill pickle vinaigrette. Excellent, if a bit boring to look at. My wife won. She ordered the Alaskan halibut wrapped in strings of crispy potato, served atop vanilla hollandaise, roasted asparagi and a bright sauce of pureed sweet peas and butter. Perfect. Did the late night happy hour disappear?!!? Review is based on Oak and Oyster, which is the pseudo name for Third Coast during their late night happy hour, and also from 4-6pm in the lower level. After perusing the menu, it looks like they have removed the late night happy hour that was from 11pm-close on weekends at main level bar?! Menu for happy hour is still the same, and it certainly is delicious! Makes the tastes of the menu more affordable for the everyday seafood lover. My friends swear by the Union Shooter oyster shooter, and I must say this is the place I had my first raw oyster on the half shell that I actually liked! Waitstaff was excellent at describing the differences in flavor between the oysters and where they came from. Ahi tuna was great, but the jalapeño sauce definitely gets your nose running! Tacos are good, but don't know if they are worth the money compared to other items on the menu. Lobster roll sliders were also good, but you'll want to know that it is a slider as advertised, so it's about 2-3 bites; definitely a snack and not a meal! Don't know that I would go to Third Coast outside of Happy Hour, given the higher prices, but everything we've had has been of very good, fresh seafood quality, so the prices may be warranted. Interior is awesome, super high end feeling and swanky vibe. Would not recommend this restaurant for kids for many reasons - definitely a friends and family / date night spot. read more

We visited Milwaukee for the first time since living in Chicago this weekend. Now we have made it a hobby practically eating our way around Chicago, so we were excited to see what Milwaukee had to offer. We found Third Coast Provisions on Yelp. Let me just tell you, our experience did not disappoint. The interior was very modern classy. Servers were super friendly. But the food? Mind-blowing! We started with the rock shrimp. They definitely mastered the sauce to shrimp ratio in such a way that the breaded shrimp was still crispy. The hatch chile grilled oysters were addicting. There were pops of sweet from the corn, smokiness from the bacon and heat from the chili. I wish we ordered more! The lobster rolls were reminiscent of Boston. The accompanying brioche buns were buttery versions of heaven. The steak was perfectly cooked as was the scallop. The gruyere whipped potatoes were so cheesy delicious. I chose Third Coast Provisions to celebrate the day my now fiancé and I got engaged and it was a great choice! Everything about the experience was excellent. Our server was knowledgeable and extremely friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was beautiful. The food was first class, amazing. We chose to go with small shared plates to experience as much of the menu as we could and the flavors were spectacular. Amazing seafood! In the middle of downtown, this place provides an elegant ambience with amazing food. There is a bar in the beginning and then cozy tables after. We came here late evening with a friend and started with their steak tartare which was delicious. They had some great drinks and other options like the shrimp and potholes. Our server was sweet and attended to us right away. He was very nice and gave u some great recommendations. I believe they have another space downstairs which was closed off that evening as it was pretty late and there weren't many guests. Since it's in the middle of downtown parking can be a challenge but they may have valet parking. If you have reservations give yourself enough time to look for parking in the area. Fantastic seafood restaurant in Milwaukee, if you are anywhere near, give this place a try. We had a party of three for a late weeknight dinner. There were not a lot of other patrons at the time, so service was practically exclusive. Drinks were great (old fashioned and tuscan leather). We shared several apps (octopus, croquettes, potholes, rock shrimp) and they were all fantastic. the taste profile of all dishes had balance and demonstrated great technique. I went to third coast provisions for New Year's Eve. It had a nice ambiance and great service. They had a set 5 course menu for the holiday. The food was good but small portions and a little pricey. We started off with the oysters which was one a piece but they were excellent. The second course was like a salmon tartar also pretty good. For the 3rd course, I got the scallop which was just okay and very small. The fourth course was short ribs with mashed potatoes which was SO good and filling! This place has been on my fiancé and my bucket list for the past few months after hearing great things from family and friends. Food - our food was all very good. I had read some reviews of the clam chowder being salty and can definitely confirm this. Although we both really enjoyed it. Next, because we liked the menu so much, we decided to split one entree and try a couple small plates. For small plates we went with the lobster Mac and cheese and the blue crab + pimento croquettes. We enjoyed both but if we had to choose just one, we'd order the lobster Mac over the croquettes. Creamy cheese, large noodles and good sized chunks of crab throughout. Both were solid choices. Finally, after an amount of time I'll discuss in the service portion, we received our Baja striped bass. Very interesting dish! The gnocchi had a slight crust to it that we really enjoyed, especially in the yogurt. The yogurt is very light and whipped and went great with the entire dish. The bass was very tender and flavorful. Overall a satisfying dish, but would like to try the scallops at our next visit. Food overall was very fresh and well prepared 8.3/10. Service - our waiter was very professional and knew everything on the menu. He was able to answer all of our questions and we constantly had a girl checking and refilling our waters. As mentioned in the food section we did have one negative here. We received our clam chowder first, which our waiter was nice enough to split into two bowls for us instead of having us share. After this, the croquettes came out, followed shortly after by the lobster Mac. After these bites it took close to 45 minutes for the bass to get to our table. The waiter checked on us multiple times and ensured us it was coming, but this was a long time to wait after some heavy apps. We were both tired and ready for the check by the time the bass came. The waiter, again, was great. Realizing the time it took, he apologized and told us he was not happy with the time it took for our entree and that he was going to take our round of drinks off the bill. We never complained and very much appreciated this gesture. Overall great service, but we must have hit a slow spot in the kitchen. We had a great dining experience and enjoyed our time here. Would like to go back and try a few other entrees to get another taste. However, for upscale seafood, we both agreed we enjoyed our visit to harbor house more. read more

Service was great. The ambiance was great. The food, however, was extremely disappointing. Ordered the mushroom appetizer, followed by the king salmon and steak frites. Simply put, all dishes were over salted . The mushroom appetizer was so salty we couldn't finish it. The steak and salmon were practically bland in comparison to the mushroom appetizer, but the sauces that made up both dishes were still salty. You know how your lips tend to swell or pucker after eating salty food? It's a shame we spent quite a bit of money, but at least we didn't order more food. First time coming here for my husbands birthday. Service: 9/10. They gave us nice seats overlooking the rest of the restaurant. Josh was our server he was great, friendly, frequently checked up on us. Food: 4/10. The appetizers saved the entire meal. The lobster pothole dish was great, the ahi tuna was amazing. We got scallops and surf and turf. The scallops were overcooked hella chewy. Felt like I was a baby again on my teether. Everything was so dense it was way too heavy of a dish. It lacked acidity to break out the butter of the dish. The filet mignon was phenomenal only to be obscured by subpar sides. The entire meal took a turn for the worst when it came to desserts. We got a crème brûlée and chocolate hazelnut to-go. Once we got home we opened a horror scene of a mess in one box and the second box had pink colored Elmer's glue. It looked like the chef had a personal grudge against me and threw my shxt in the box as hard as he could. The crème was so liquidy it was NOT properly set by a long shot. I called to ask where my dessert was all to find out they forgot the chocolate hazelnut which I drove back for. And that I indeed have the crème brûlée. The staff member explained getting crème brûlée to go consists of it being deconstructed because they have to keep the dish..... weird as hell considering I paid $250 for the meal and they cant afford to go dishes for the crème brûlée? Wish they explained that to me before I ordered it? I wasn't offered a refund or compensation for it which was sad. Definitely wont be returning.. read more

Third Coast Provisions definitely deserves all the compliments it's given. The interior is so intriguing I found myself constantly looking around. It has and updated east-coast charm with a good amount of hipster. Faux marble inlaid table tops, Edison style lighting, various seating styles and levels. This is a great date spot.
