We recently visited Third Coast Provisions to try out their happy hour. If you are dining in for happy hour you are seated at the bar, which is comfortable and spacious enough. I thought the selection of food was very good and the drink selection was decent, although they did not offer any cocktails besides an espresso martini. I was a little apprehensive to go because of a few low reviews but thankfully they were all wrong! I loved it here, and simply put it was the best meal I have ever had in Milwaukee. We traveled along the appetizer section and coursed it out, so I can't speak for the main courses but I was in LOVE with nearly every course. Oysters two ways with either a grapefruit or a chile granita were the perfect start. Enticing. I wanted more! Second up, a little sturgeon caviar for $35? Beam me up Scottie! Next was a lovely salmon crudo with a lickable sauce poured tableside. Then a lovely seared lobe of foie gras whose accompaniments and fresh naan were stellar. Beef tartare was the only course that didn't wow me as it tasted aged in some way and had a more Eastern Europe taste to it versus French, but the cheese crisps were delicious. It would have been nice to see an egg yolk on top. I finished the meal off by pairing their yuzu dessert with a glass of Sauternes, which was spectacular! I love a balanced dessert with some savory notes so this was culinary school perfection. Hubby loved his chocolate cherry tart and ate it in .2 seconds. I barely saw it! If you're on the fence, don't worry, GO! Food is incredible and the environment is really pretty too. Only thing was our server (who was also the host) seemed inexperienced. But it's totally okay. Exquisite dessert, must try! I happen to have a hankering for dessert after a night out in Downtown Milwaukee and walked into 3c provisions go satiate that craving and wasn't disappointed at all. The mousse pound cake was very rich and creamy without being heavy and with artificial flavors. The presentation and aesthetis were impeccable and the taste complimented the visuals. So I've been here a few times now the past year. Everything is still fabulous, service is exceptional

Stopped here while in MKE for a night as one of our last dinners on the road. Had a reservation for 8:30 and while making it over the phone - we were told to make sure to place food orders quickly so the kitchen could close up on time. Not a problem. We were within walking distance from our hotel, but it looks like the street could be busy in terms of parking if you decide to drive. We walked in and our table wasn't ready so we ordered a drink at the bar. Bartender was hyperactive in trying to make us know he was a great bartender. I went with a Crown Manhattan. Waiter was nice - a little over the top at times but I liked him and he was friendly and attentive. Our table was ready and we opted for the crab croquettes and bread with spread. Both were incredibly good - and I would recommend both to just about anyone. Flavors were there - perfectly done, attention to detail, wow. So good. For an entree I ordered the surf n turf filet - which aesthetically looked rough - and I'm still not sure the Oscar part was done properly as the crab meat looked more like imitation. But man was this good - steak was more on the rarer side of medium than I ordered - but the bernaise was perfectly seasoned. Also the potatoes were incredible and flavorful, and the vegetable had a salty lemon taste to it that had me wanting more. I have to give them about a 3.5/5 in terms of overall experience. Reservations are easy to make ahead of time. Unsure if this is typical (pre pandemic times) but they personally contacted me ahead of time to confirm time, party, allergies and any special occasion. We arrived about 15 minutes prior to our original time and seated promptly. We dove into the menu and ordered some small plates: steak tartare, oysters on the half shell, foie gras and lobster pothole. I think I still prefer oysters from St. Paul's fish company over here. A broader selection to choose from. I throughly enjoyed the complex and balanced flavors from the foie gras. A little sweet from the berries and savory from the bourdin. The lobster pothole was a favorite amongst the table. The sourdough had a nice crunch to the outside. I think there was a bit of lapse in service and mainly communication because we had been served all small plates before I asked the server if we could order a main entree. This lead to us sitting for longer than I typically would for dinner. As far as dishes, we had the lobster pot pie, whitefish and miso scallops. These entrees were a lot larger of a portion than I expected so if you plan on doing small plates ahead of time, maybe consider sharing. The lobster pot pie was highly recommended. I opted out of the mushrooms (personal preference) but the top is light and flakey, similar to a croissant. I'd say the lobster was a bit over cooked and chewy but you do get a decent amount. Someone ordered the miso scallops. The scallops were pretty salty here and an utter disappointment with the salty risotto. The crust on the whitefish was phenomenal. Paired with the mustard sauce (if you like tangy) was a good option. The three of us shared the creme brûlée with the pistachio on the side due to an allergy. The berries and pistachio (I poured this on after the person had their fair share of the dessert) paired well to off balance the sweetness of the creme. I ate here twice with a colleague while at a legal conference and I can't hype this place enough. From the service to the drinks and food, this place is incredible. Natalie was our server the first night, and Brooke was our server the second and they were both super nice and very attentive to our table. The Alaskan halibut was not available the first time (this happens with fresh fish) and Natalie recommended the Spinach + Artichoke ravioli and wow, what an amazing dish! The halibut was available the second time and was even more fantastic than I thought it would be. We had the royal renewal for drinks both times, as well as the oyster sliders and 3cp greens for starters. The first night we also had the ahi tuna tartare on crispy rice and while it was delicious, 3 apps was 1 too many. My colleague had the Miso Sea Scallops the first time and Ora King Salmon the second and I tried both and if I am ever back in Milwaukee I will order one of those next time if the menu hasn't rotated. For dessert we had the chocolate trifle; delicious and not too much to eat considering I was already full both times. The space itself is beautiful and not too noisy. The first time we were on the main floor and the second time we were on the second floor and I think I liked the first floor slightly better but only because I'm obsessed with light fixtures and the first floor light fixtures are cooler. Natalie was our waitress if you go there please ask for her table area, she's not only friendly and pleasant but the right amount of attentive to the table. It's nice to be at a restaurant and your waitress seems to genuinely enjoy her job and even if she did have a bad day you wouldn't know it. The food was amazing! our friend lives here part time. My boyfriend had his Son here while living in Milwaukee before moving away. We were in town visiting for a Brewers game and I found this place for us. I was glad that I found this place for us to dine at and our friend who is local had not visited this place yet but said he would definitely come back. We started with the staccriatella peaches so delish! with the naan bread, for the mains we had the lobster pot pie, you can share this among two people, the rigatoni was delish, also the hash brown Royale with braised beef was really good. Run- don't walk to this place. We had an excellent experience here. Started with "potholes" a very garlicky and buttery appetizer with crispy bread. Wonderful stuff and added bonus- no vampire issues . For entrees we chose the hash brown short ribs and cioppini stew. One was just as amazing as the other. Dessert was lemon creme brûlée with blueberry ice cream and short bread cookies. Kellly was the only server and she gave each table her full attention and never seemed rushed. Absolutely outstanding meal and unparalleled service, we ordered about half the menu. The kitchen was even gracious enough to whip up a side of corn for my 7-month old little guy and toss it in the blender so he had something to work on while we enjoyed our dinner. How did I not know about this restaurant! (I'll blame Covid). Nice and somewhat unique menu. Highlights: 1) Fresh baked Gluten Free Bread ... that taste good !!! It may not seem like much to most, but for all Celiacs, pay the price of the meal, just to get the bread! I'm told the pastry chef (Joanna??) comes in at 6:00am to prep. 2) Lobster Pot-Holes; think: escargo, but with Lobster ... wow... I can make this at home, or with shrimp. Never thought of that. Other thoughts: 2 diners had the Short Rib. Both reports are great, with perfect prep and flavor. Menu prices are on the higher side, but just at my thesehold of pain. Drinks could be larger, or I really need to take smaller sips to extend to more than two, and cosmo & sidecar were "okay" but nothing the mixologist couldn't improve upon. Service. 5 stars, from small plates oysters and sesame Ceasar salad, to our salmon and halibut...we paused during each bite just to take it all in. My first oyster, guys!!!! I was hesitant about it too.....very hesitant. Then I saw the El Tirador on the menu: an oyster shooter with a jalapeno shot, or something like that. Anyway, my thought process was that if the oyster was gross, the spiciness of the shot would wash away any fishy flavor. Well. Let me tell you. After explaining to me how it was NOT improper to scrape the oyster out of the shell with one's teeth (it wasn't the slimy snot ball I had always been led to believe!), I did just that; chewed that little sucker up and downed that shot faster than a cheetah chasing a zebra. That's the trick! Follow a raw oyster with something spicy. The two flavors mingle together so beautifully, that you'll forget all about that glob you just had in your mouth! If they weren't $8 a pop, I would have been drunk within 15 minutes. Instead, I opted for a cocktail, hubs got a beer, and we both shared a tray of oysters, a lobster roll, and a po' boy. The lobster roll and po' boy were divine, but I wouldn't specifically seek out oysters to eat, like I would tacos. We had a great time at Third Coast. The food was excellent, not a single bad bite all evening. The drinks were also excellent, the bartender even made an off menu cocktail for my sister that she had last time she was here. The service was polite and prompt but not overly attentive. We got there early so it wasn't very busy yet but got louder and busier as the night went on. The only knock I have is that our server told us to place our whole order at once so that they could course it out for us. However all of our dishes came out pretty rapidly which had me feeling a bit rushed to eat so that there would be room at the table. read more

I came here for valentines dinner and was blown away. I don't think you could go wrong with anything on the menu. I got the spinach artichoke ravioli and my boyfriend got the surf and turf and both were amazing. I also suggest working with the sommelier. We talked to him about our likes and dislikes, orders, and price range and he picked out a great bottle that we definitely wouldn't have chosen on our own. Highly recommend! What a great experience! This is my birthday weekend! My girlfriend took me here and it was both our first time. Staff were very welcoming and knowledgeable. Hand sanitizing station when you walk in. Staff and patrons were wearing mask. You can take your mask off when you are at your table. The food was delicious. We started with raw oysters and chargrilled oysters. Our waitress was very accommodating, pleasant, and made great recommendations. At the end, the staff treated me to ginger cheesecake as we celebrated my birthday. They even lite a candle on top. We went here for dinner and were so disappointed with the food. For appetizers, we got bread with stracciatella + peaches with dills. The bread was good but the dip (stracciatella +peaches with dills) was so flavorless. The dip needed some salts. Funny that the dip was lack of salt but all of the sauces from our entrees were too salty. For entrees, my boyfriend got the hanger steak with fries and I got the salmon. The meat and fish were very high quality. When you have high quality meats or fish, you don't need to do too much. They did too much with everything. For example, my salmon was overwhelmed with the sauce. I don't think the sauce went well at all with fish at all. It was spicy and too creamy. For a good salmon that they had, I would go with some light sauce to let the salmon shine. My boyfriend's hanger steaks' sauce were too salty. The fries that went with it were crispy but salty as well. The only good thing that they did with those dishes was they cooked the steak and salmon perfectly. I also got oysters as well. They were fresh but small. We got the old fashioned granita for the oysters which was interesting and sweet. Overall, overpriced and bad execution with good quality meats and fish. read more

Wow, Third Coast. First, I want to apologize for taking so long to write a review for you given how amazing my food and experience was at your restaurant. This is certainly one of the top restaurants in Milwaukee - I can't believe I have lived here so many years and only have had dinner here ONCE (although I used to go to Oak & Oyster all the time for their HH). Jeesh, I have been missing out. We started with the crab cakes. They stayed together well but were not super fried/crispy. There was a ton of crab in them - YUM. We also got the tuna with crispy rice, lobster mac and cheese (amazing) and the star of the show (in my opinion), the lobster potholes. I had never heard of "lobster potholes" before, but as an East Coaster who loves warm lobster, this sounded like the perfect dish for me, and oh my goodness it was! There were large chunks of lobster tail in the dish, and the buttery/herby/garlicky sauce it came in was to die for. Honestly, I would come back to this restaurant and just get that all to myself (despite the massive amount of calories in the dish). The restaurant ambiance is amazing. We sat at a table, but I think I would sit at the bar the next time. Service was good too - Attentive but not overwhelming. If you have not been here, I highly recommend it! Thankfully this was my third visit because had it been my first I would never return! Very slow service and overly salted food! Over cooked lobster and we had to ask for a drawn butter I would think lobster and butter or an automatic combo.... disappointing. Great for special occasions or just when you are looking for a nice night out! Lovely ambiance, kind staff, and good food/drinks. Brought my parents visiting from out of town here and we were pretty happy with our experience. A little on the pricier side but definitely worth the experience!! Had a drink at the bar while we waited for our table, my personal favorite was the cool it kemosabe which was fruity and not too sweet/strong. Bartender was friendly and happy to give recommendations though! Tried the lobster potholes per our waiter's suggestion and loved it, would highly recommend as it was our favorite. Hit or miss! The interior is tastefully decorated and has a comfortable vibe. Our waitress was inexperienced (and I get it) . Drinks took a long time and my order was mixed up twice. Looked forward to the fresh Naan but was served what tasted like older microwaved Naan. It was not light and fluffy but was heavy and stodgy. The cheddar butter accompanying the bread was very good. Enjoyed the Salmon crudo. Husband ordered the halibut and it was accompanied by a delicious coconut sauce and an abundance of vegetables. I ordered the squash ravioli and noted it was served with "pie crust". The pie crust was crunchy bits that were overly sweet. The ravioli were bland and the dish overall had a greasy taste. We went here for a date night. We were sat upstairs; plenty of social distancing going in at this restaurant. The atmosphere was nice. We ordered the lobster and crab rolls for an appetizer. We found the get enough of those. Delicious! For dinner, we ordered the surf and turf with shrimp, and the sea scallops. The surf and turf was unbelievable and cooked to perfection. Went with another couple and all of us had a terrible experience. The white fish was no better than frozen breaded commercial fish from the grocery store. 3 of us had it and all agreed. Also the cabbage potato side dish we're terrible. Chowder was good. But dessert again was terrible. The Crème Brule was the consistency of soup and the key lime pie had no taste a all. This is a tough review to write. This is a good place and for the second year in a row, I went there for my birthday. It was a Wednesday night and only one other table was there. We had a cocktail at the bar and then moved to our table. The bartender came over and said they didn't have any staff so she would be our server. No problem. I had the scallops and my date had the salmon. Both seemed different from the last time we were there - but still good. The risotto with the scallops was super rich - we couldn't finish it. They brought us a crème brûlée. It was great. The reason this is 2 stars is because when we got the bill, it showed the two martinis my date ordered were $33 each. He ordered the house dirty martini on the menu which was listed for $20 but instead of the garnish they had (blue cheese stuffed olive, regular olive, and anchovy filet) he asked for two stuffed olives. They said fine. Apparently an additional stuffed olive comes with a $13 surcharge. When he asked about it the bartender simply said, "no that's correct." He asked again and the manager snatched the tab out of his hand and reduced the drinks to $20 each without any further comment. It was clear they were not happy about us asking about the bill. I realize mistakes happen and have no problem paying a premium for drinks or food. But in this case $66 for two martinis without any understanding or apology (again it was dead in there) is not the kind of establishment that seems to want our business. Next time we will go to Harbor House. What a pity. read more
