Dirty space, failing electrical, and five months of empty promises on my deposit…read more I rented an office at Meadow Creek for about 8 months and regret it. The location looked promising, but the office floor was filthy -- I had to cover it with my own carpet. The electrical was failing: lamps flickered or cut out when I plugged in a kettle. It got very cold in winter because the heating couldn't keep up. There was also a break-in on the second floor that left several offices ransacked. Worst of all, the owners have been promising to return my deposit of over $700 since January. Every time I follow up they either ignore me or say they'll "look into it." Five months on, still nothing. The deposit dispute is now headed to small claims court.

Layout wise, they have a decent size multi-purpose room with kitchen. It is big enough to have a low height stage, and its capacity is 150 guests. They have three conference rooms that also acts as meeting rooms or classrooms. These spaces are available for rent. The online link has photos of these spaces. A reception area with a few couches and a bookcase is just inside the entry. I have seen people, young and old on these couches, mingling, and just hanging out here at all hours. They offer senior activities during the daytime, as well as community classes throughout the day and evening. I have taken yoga classes as well as a stretching class. The class catalog is available online. Both Kirkland and non-Kirkland residents can sign up. During special occasions, they host bigger events for the greater community. The most recent is a Lunar New Year celebration with children's activities indoors inside the community center, the kitchen offered spring rolls to snack, the adjacent teen center building held performances, and a Chinese Lion Dance team entertained everyone outdoors on a beautiful day. Beware of Renting Blakely Hall in the Issaquah Highlands…read more On Saturday October 12, 2024, my wife and I rented Blakely Hall in the Issaquah Highlands (operated by the Highlands Council) to host a baby shower for our son and daughter-in-law with about 30 friends and family in attendance. We reserved the hall for 4 hours from 10 AM to 2 PM at an hourly rate of $150, or $600 total for the event. The guests of honor were late arriving at the shower (they had a couple of errands to run), and so we stayed a bit beyond 2 PM to finish cleaning up. A few days later we received an e-mail from the manager of the facility saying that we had stayed an extra 38 minutes. Per their policy, they rounded that up to 1 hour and charged us twice the normal hourly rate for being tardy vacating the facility, or an extra $300. We tried calling them twice to discuss what happened, but they never returned our calls. We then e-mailed them to explain what happened and to see if we could get the overage charge reduced (per their website we could have simply added an extra hour for $150 when we made our reservation). We agreed that an extra $150 was warranted for not leaving by 2 PM but that doubling the charge to $300 seemed punitive and unfair. They replied that doubling the hourly rate as a penalty was their policy and they would not work with us to lower the charge. We never heard from them again. I would caution anyone thinking about using this facility either to look for an alternative venue or at the very least be aware of the onerous way that the facility is managed and plan accordingly. We will certainly never use this facility again or recommend it to anyone.

I come to Blakely Hall once a month for the Issaquah Poker Club monthly tournament. It's a great…read morevenue space and it's always so clean and well kept. This is a feat when 50-60 men and women bring their own beers and bar snacks all gather together and leave crumbs and debris on the floor. The cleaning staff here do a great job here. The open space in Blakely Hall is a great spot if you want to host a shower, birthday party, auction, or a charity event. It's spacious and we're able to fit 8 full size poker tables with room to spare. There's also a large kitchen with two french door refrigerators and ovens, so if you're planning on catering a party, you can do that as well. Blakely Hall is located in the Issaquah Highlands near residential area. It's tucked in a place with lots of houses and townhomes. The positive is that there's plenty of street parking and you're in a safe area with plenty of foot traffic. I love coming here once a month to play poker. It absolutely beats playing in a garage or an old hall built in the 1950's with no heat or air conditioning. It's not like I'm playing in a players-only club from the movie Rounders, but I enjoy a nice clean modern venue. If you're looking for a spot to host an event, check out Blakely Hall.

Despite assurances of responses within 24-48 hours, I waited over two weeks for a reply. On December 10, I requested renewal information for my current apartment so I could determine whether to renew or transfer to another unit in the building that was offering a 7-month lease at $2,175 effective 12/30. This request was made within the 20-day notice period. Had I received timely information, I would have transferred units, complied fully with notice requirements, and saved approximately $400 per month in rent. Instead, I was forced to repeatedly call, text, email, and leave voicemails with little to no response. There is no transparency in communications--you do not know who is responding, and replies routinely address only a fraction of what was asked. After submitting a formal escalation, the only response I received was essentially, "Thanks for your patience; we can't do anything," despite the delay originating entirely on management's end. Living in a building where residents are treated this way is shocking. My correspondence has always been respectful and courteous, but persistent non-responsiveness and lack of accountability understandably erode trust. I still do not know who to speak with to resolve this issue, and the overall conclusion is that resident concerns are simply irrelevant and ignored. I sincerely hope the incoming management team brings a greater level of professionalism, transparency, and respect for residents.

Five years ago Milehouse was aptly considered a luxury building. As the multitude of competing…read moreproperties have come online in Redmond, Milehouse no longer has a competitive set of amenities or services. Things such as charges for use of the 'clubhouse', (just a public area in the lobby that is not at all private), and the generally out of service theater, are among the things that make residents move to other properties. The recent refresh of the lobby was, oddly, a huge step down-market. The wood-laminate flooring was replaced with what is clearly discount vinyl. The added artwork could well have come from a clearance bin at Target, and there is new and lobby garish signage as well. There is no designated area for outgoing packages. Your option is to leave it on the mailroom counter where it may be either ignored or stolen. I've had both experiences. When the building was initially opened, they hosted a buffet and open house with the architect and others. The architect told me how the feature fireplaces (lobby and outdoor patio) were high-efficiency and designed to be left on 24/7. UDR wired in timers with the default as "OFF", making both areas look dark, neglected, and unwelcoming. The security keypads just installed in the building are cheap plastic. The keypad on my home safe is better built. At Milehouse the numbers immediately stop working, and soon the whole black plastic keypad is out of service. You are then locked out of the building, or the elevator. If coming from garage you're locked out of both. They keypads are clearly not suited for a commercial application. The building has a mezzanine area with tables and chairs that once had an operating station where you could get hot coffee and tea. That disappeared and now the mezzanine is abandoned. Management permits ongoing incursions into, and theft from, the building's bike room. Expensive bikes and ebikes are routinely stolen, getting barely a shrug from management. All the bike owners in the building would gladly monitor a security app or desktop program that monitored entrance to and activity in the bike room. Such a simple fix. Management moved the Parcel Pending package lockers from inside the secure building, outside to the open garage. Oversize packages too big for the lockers are left on the ground for thievery which is now common. There are just less than 40 new multi-resident buildings in the Redmond area, and all have surpassed what was once a highly desired property. None of this is the fault of on-site staff. The low standards commenced when UDR purchased the building. It appears that someone is not paying attention, or simply does not care.

Hello! I've lived at…read moreThe 101 for a number of years, and generally enjoyed the experience. Both Dee and Joe are wonderful people. The complex is no longer livable. A construction site has been erected next door, and the noise and shaking is incredible. It begins, every weekday, at 7:00 a.m. and the beeping/slamming/crashing cannot be drowned out even with earplugs. Just for laughs, I checked the decibel level in my apartment at 8:30 a.m.; with no appliances running and seated at my desk (approximately 15 feet away from a closed sliding-glass door), the decibel meter read a very respectable 70 decibels. For the people who will rush to dispute this review, that's about the sound of a running vacuum or hair dryer. Except, of course, those noises generally don't persist for 8-10 hours per day. Oh, and they don't tend to physically shake the unit, either. I cannot open my sliding glass doors for ventilation because of the dust and smoke from the site -- but that's okay because I'm sure I'm getting plenty of it, even with all the rain, through the ventilation ducts. The unit's balcony might be a selling point, except it's unusable during daylight hours. The property manager was condescending, suggesting to me this long-term construction is part of the landscape. Pillar Properties is unwilling to accept the notion this construction has dramatically impaired my ability to function in the apartment. Meanwhile, I am immunocompromised and quarantined for the duration of the Covid pandemic. Even if I were vaccinated and able to move, the Pillar folks won't discuss an early termination of the lease. So I'm here with the banging and clanging and shaking for eight more months. To the point: Hello, devil. Welcome to hell! (And anyone who's thinking of moving here, know that construction has just begun and won't be completed until 2022 or 2023.)
