The first time we went to this cafe, they forgot to put our order in and we waited over an hour until they noticed and checked on us. Other tables were served food without issue during this time. When they did bring the food out it was excellent. We decided to return. After being seated we got a drink order taken and delivered. The waiter got my husband's coffee order wrong (I'm not sure how you screw up "black coffee no creamer" but he did). We then got ignored for 30 minutes while everyone around us was served at which point I'd had enough. I approached the register and let them know we were leaving and why. read more

I walked up to the register and politely asked a woman if my online order was ready yet, and I also noticed a to go bag sitting on the counter behind her. She barely acknowledged me and said wait one second. She stood there for another 4 minutes inputting info into her POS system. I tried to ask someone passing by but they said to wait one second. She then turned to the person waiting behind me, who came a few minutes after me, and assisted them with closing out their bill first. I asked her why she couldn't just check behind her and when she did finally check it just so happened to be my order! All she had to do was hand it to me, it took 2 seconds!! I don't understand how customer service is so bad these days it is crazy. As someone who works in customer service these establishments need to do better!! This cleverly named "Think Cafe" cafe caught my eye on the way to a well known coffee franchise. Stopped in for a caffeine pick me up. Ordered a Mocha with almond milk, a bit bitter, not sweet at all. I decided to sweeten & pour over Ice to stimulate an afternoon pick me up. Doctored it up to my personal taste. Perfect! Early Saturday afternoon, lots of open seating with my choice of indoor or outdoor patio. The cute covered patio is very appealing but due to the air temp I sat inside. Quick pleasant service. Extensive attractive menu. Vegan & vegetarian options. Good option for breakfast brunch lunch or dinner. Very enjoyable breakfast, with a big asterisk. We sat outside enjoying very pleasant weather on their shaded patio, which really transports you out of downtown San Pedro. Very relaxing. The menu has some nice vegetarian options beyond the norms, I enjoyed the Greek Omelette with plenty of feta and sun dried tomatoes. My wife had the Huevos Rancheros with black beans. Both were enjoyed. Other breakfast options included a veggie frittata which sounded good. Coffee was very drinkable. Lunch options for vegetarians included eggplant parmesan and grilled veggie sandwiches and multiple good salad options. The asterisk...service was *not* good, to be charitable. It was really to the point that it interfered with our ability to enjoy the meal. (I was debating 3 or 4 stars, but there is enough promise I would like to come back.) The place was 3/4 empty, and staff appeared adequate, but for some reason they almost never ventured to the patio. When a foray to the patio was made, typically to take an order or leave a check, not once did they scan to see if other tables needed/wanted anything. For anything after the initial order was taken we had to verbally stop the server from dashing past and ask for coffee refills, the check, the check to be processed, etc. Not very comfortable. read more

Were brought here by some friends (yes, we have a few friends!). Sort of an eclectic menu. A lot of American-style dishes, plus some southwest or Mexican food, and some pasta dishes. I settled on the carne asada burrito. Being from Arizona, this was almost a dare (the waitress all but dared me when she found out where we were from). Very confident in her menu! The burrito was pretty large. Good value. Flavor was good. Not the best I've had, but a solid performance. I would rate 3.5 stars for that, but am going with 4 stars because service was cheerful, and appropriately attentive. Also, others in our party really seemed to like their food too. We had the pleasure of dining at this cafe, unfortunately at the time while they were changing the signage. However, Nick, who started off as a greeter, then worked up to waiter, apologized for the inconvenience. The outdoor dining area is really comfortable and inviting, don't think twice about eating outside. I tried their meat omelet with their home style potatoes. The omelet was generously filled with meat and flavor. The home style potatoes well okay, just a bit cold due to the gravy. Or maybe because I like my breakfast potatoes on the crunchy side. I can't wait to go back again and try something different from the menu, probably a sandwich, as I observed another diner enjoying one. read more

This place is very good they have a pretty big menu and lots of options to choose from. Instead of nothing sounding good I had a hard time choosing which of the items I wanted most. I've been here several times actually and each time I've loved what I ordered. Except one time in the morning I ordered the steak and eggs, the steak was supposed to be medium rare but it was definitely well done. It was busy and I didn't want to complain so I just ate it anyways but I'm sure if I would've said something they would have remade it for me. They're always sweet and attentive on the front end. San Pedro has a lot of little hidden gems such as Think Cafe. Right upon walking in for the first time, I felt that this is locals-only "hot spot" as customers were chit chatting with the staff as old friends. Although I can't fully recall everything during my first visit, except that the food and service were great. I want to take this time to highlight my most recent visit on Tuesday. My 5 other colleagues and I were quickly seated since we had a 12pm reservation. I believe the same waitress from my previous visit took our order. She went over the specials and really took good care of us. I had pineapple juice and the white fish in special sauce from the day's special completed with the chocolate hot lava cake. Pineapple juice was good, not overly sweet. The small size is pretty small, but I wanted to save room so it was fine. The special sauce consisted of chopped up tomatoes, corn bits, and diced up bell peppers swirled in a tangy sauce with a hint of spice went well with the brown rice. The fish seemed to have been broiled and light, yet tasty when mixed in with everything. I felt really healthy with no guilt eating the main course. The chocolate hot lava cake melted in my mouth. The hot chocolate "lava" was delicious! I could drink it alone if it were an option! The cake was moist, not too sweet, but definitely flavorful. I ate that up with no problem! My key to not feeling yucky after a great meal here was the fact that I didn't eat any complimentary bread. In the past I had a piece or two, the bread's pretty standard. I never trust a restaurant that is called "Think" but this place was not my choice. And I did not know that this was the name (Think Cafe) until we left so my disappointment with this place was not caused by the power of suggestion. Actually, there are many good things about this place. The ambiance is nice and cozy like a cafe. The service was good. The appetizer and dessert we ordered were both good (Avocado and Brie Melt & the Chocolate Lava Cake, respectively). My only complaint and a big one is my entree. I ordered this gyro dish called "Shy Guy". And, yes, it should be shy because it's simply no good. It's seasoning is neither here nor there . . . I'm sorry, I don't know how to describe it. The best pork chop I have ever had! This has been an ongoing pursue of mine along with the ultimate chicken fried steak:). Sonny's is hands down the best. Can you turn down a double cut chop perfectly crisp on the outside and moist and tender on the inside? Then, he puts a generous crispy, salty, mapley strip of pork belly on top:) Mmmmm. It was 45 minutes of heaven and God wouldn't let me in without the pork chop!:). It's a "have to" if you like a chop. read more

A nice sit-down place for lunch, and close to my work. I come here with co-workers about once per month. Service has always been good, and the food consistent. On this visit I opted for the gyro sandwich ($8.95). You get a large gyro sammie made with grilled lamb gyro slices, red onions, tomatoes, cucumber slices, and tzaziki sauce on a warm pita. It comes with your choice of fries, fresh fruit, or their pea salad (fresh peas with onion and bacon in a creamy dressing). I got the fresh fruit - pineapple, cantaloupe, strawberries. The sandwich was great as was the fruit. They also give you warm french bread with butter for the table - yes please! Other standout dishes I get here: french onion soup - really rich and satisfying, southern fried chicken pasta - crispy fried battered chicken breast pieces, corn and sun dried tomatoes mixed with creamy garlic pasta. They also have a large back room for larger parties/special events. I've been to two baby showers here and they were lovely. Overall this is a nice lunch place with consistent good food and service. read more

Think Cafe is one of my usual stops in San Pedro...mostly because my friend really likes the steak sandwich here, as well as the basket of bread that they immediately bring out when you're seated. Now that we're regulars, I rather enjoy that the waiters know our orders and are friendly with us. I originally wrote a review for Think Cafe in 2011. I *think* (haha, pun intended) that someone actually read my review; I had complained that the ketchup tasted off every single time I was there, and then one day, MAGIC! The ketchup was normal. Was I onto you, Think? Were you refilling Heinz bottles with some off-brand yuckiness? Hmmmm. ;) In any case, it's much better now. I used to be a huge fan of the Croque Monsieur. And I hate to say it, but I have stopped eating it because one time I thought the ham tasted off, and when I asked the waiter, he confirmed that sometimes the ham isn't fresh! BLEH! Seriously, that made my stomach turn. But, I'm a bit of a hypochondriac when it comes to food, and I didn't get sick. So don't let that detour you from giving it a try. The fried chicken pasta is yummy, and I'm a huge fan of the turkey burger with cheese and bacon. When I'm feeling REALLY daring, I'll ask what the special of the day is! *laughs* The homemade soups are pretty good. My friend is a HUGE fan of the carrot soup (and she doesn't even like carrots). But, they don't always serve it...might be seasonal or something. I'll be honest, though. This place is a little pricey for the quality of the food. I haven't tried the other Think restaurants, Think Bistro and Think Prime, but I compare this chain of restaurants to Banana Republic, Gap. and Old Navy. So really Think Cafe should be the Old Navy here and cheapen it up a bit (in my opinion). But they are pretty cool about letting you order off the brunch menu instead of the dinner menu. A lot of the items are the same. This place has a patio (with heaters), and that always makes me happy. This particular patio has a "peely tree," which is thus called for its drug-addicting qualities of "MUST PICK NOW" when I'm sitting outside. (I'm OCD.) read more

We found this place after staying in San Pedro for more than three days. First, we went on a Sunday for brunch. What a kick! I loved my brunch the first time we came here. I had a salmon sandwich with pea salad and Hubby had tuna with two types of soups. They offer a trio, so instead of the regular soup and sandwich, like most restaurants do, he could choose a third one either salad or another soup and he did the soup. So, Hubby had french onion soup, seafood chowder and tuna sandwich on a baguette. My sandwich came on a baguette too and I love baguette! Our waitress is a nice lady named Kashka (spelling?). Anyway, since we loved it the first time we planned for the second time. The second time we went for breakfast right after they opened at 8 AM. I ordered my favorite avocado toast with sunnyside up and pea salad and Hubby had his bagel and lox. I loved my avocado toast, the avocado was fresh and nicely cut for my toast. We also ordered an extra bagel to make another bagel and lox because we thought the lox they gave us was quite a lot. We had the same waitress Kashka. Then we came back on the same day for lunch and I had a chicken brie sandwich with pea salad and Hubby had a tuna sandwich, salad, and french onion soup. Wow, we really loved this place. We thought they offer good quality food and very affordable. How did we not find this place earlier? Actually I saw this place on Yelp before coming here but due to the opening at 8 AM, we thought it was quite late for us. We up early! However, this is worth a visit or visits! This has been one of my "go to" local restaurants for several years ... (I grew up in San Pedro but, I digress) The food is generally good with a variety of choices ... the clam chowder is one of my favorites ... and ... the service in the past has been friendly Last night was an exception. Our experience with our waitress, "Kazka," I think, (she has purple hair) was poor. I ordered the clam chowder, "very hot" ... it appeared she was writing it down ... then ... she asked for my entree ... then ... she asked, "Do you want soup or salad?" Really? I said, "I just ordered clam chowder very hot" She snapped, "Well, we discussed many things" and frowned. When the soup was served it was lukewarm ... I asked that it be heated again. She did not return to our table to ask if everything was OK or whether there was anything else we would like. She did return with our bill. No smile. No "thank you" ... just the frown ... When I go to a restaurant I don't expect to be treated like "chopped liver." I'll eat here again ... but ... this waitress won't serve me. And "the tip" is a reflection of the service I receive. read more

Was looking for a place to hold a group dinner for 20 in San Pedro in a few weeks, so came across Think Cafe. Saw that they have outdoor patio dining, another plus. My sister came with me to check it out, and we ordered several items for lunch: avocado & brie melts; tater tots (w the chowder); chinese chicken salad, and a BLT sandwich with the pea salad. Service was attentive and fast. And then the food came out. I thought we'd end up taking some home for leftovers, but everything was so tasty that we finished it all! I like that they use green leafy romaine for their salad and as the lettuce in the sandwich instead of iceberg lettuce. The proportion of Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato were just right. I don't like too much bacon because then the sandwich is salty, and too much lettuce or tomato makes the sandwich seem unsubstantial, but theirs was just right. The pea salad was surprisingly tasty as well. And the dressing on the salad was not too sweet nor too heavy on the oil. I look forward to coming back, not just for my group dinner, but as a regular customer. read more

They say "gluten free" but they really don't provide gluten-free options to bread, etc. They leave it up to you to make gluten-free choices from the menu. Service could be better. Servers seem to be bothered by their jobs and don't check back in with you after dropping your plates on the table. read more

The food is pretty good but the issue I have with them is that I order the same thing all the time, a turkey avocado sandwich. However, I don't eat avocado so I have asked if there is a different price without it since they don't serve a REGULAR TURKEY SANDWICH, which I find absolutely ridiculous in the first place. The answer is "no", so I started substituting the avocado for bacon which is about the same price, however there is one server there that likes to charge for both the bacon and the avocado. So this is to whomever makes this menu, can you please just have a regular turkey sandwich OR not charge for it if a customer doesn't want it OR allow for the substitution? If you go to any other restaurant, avocado is extra. Today, I left my entire order there because I refuse to pay for something that I didn't get. And by the way, I instead ordered the same thing from San Pedro Cafe because they do in fact have a regular turkey sandwich and I asked for bacon and not only did they not charge me for it, but my entire exact same meal was about $10 cheaper and the food was exceptional.
