All of the fundamental cafe staples are well-executed here - I'm a big fan of their Chile Verde burrito, and the Chicken Gyro is the definite sleeper of the menu - juicy chicken served in a perfectly-warmed up pita. If you're feeding the whole family, the family burger packs can't be beat - enough burgers and fries for the whole gang to munch on. Definitely take advantage of the daily specials, too - the Carne Asada plate (on Tuesdays I believe) is enough to stuff me at least twice over, haha. I've been coming for years and always felt like the service was less than satisfying but today brought it to a whole other level of bad. My family and I visited today and left with no food. My grandfather ordered food and made a comment on the price going up, which resulted in the cashier implying he could not afford it for some reason. Words were exchanged and the cashier ended up saying he looked like he was homeless! I used to support fantastic cafe and eat fantastic since they are owned by the same family and are a local business, whether we ate in San Pedro or Long Beach. This was our go to spot for takeout when we don't feel like cooking- no more! I will not support this business again and neither will any of our family after the way our grandfather was treated. If you want to know who it was, I have no idea their names but the lady who exchanged words was an older heavy set Hispanic lady and a second employee who jumped in for no reason was an older gentleman. I stopped by today to share my concerns with the manager after calling six times with no answer, only to find out that they lost power directly after the incident. I can't say i was upset to see them closed after what happened. Either way they are extremely rude over the phone when placing a to go order, though I enjoy their hamburger baskets. I still won't be visiting a single location again. Another thing to note is that a significant portion of the Hispanic population who works there says incredibly inappropriate things to each other while working. Quite deceitful...Looking at the menu, chili fries are listed small, $7.99 and large, $8.99. Pretty expensive for fast food, but came here willing to pay that amount. Having grown up right down the street I have been going to fantastic cafe for a better part of my life! When I was a vegetarian, degenerate 15 year old punk rock we would come here after shows and eat bean and cheese burritos in the back booth. Now that I am old and grown my go too whenever I am in town visiting my fam is a Bacon Breakfast Burrito and they always do me a solid and let me add beans. I've been getting this for years and it will continue to stay a favorite for many more to come. They put the greens hot sauce in but I recommend swapping that out for the red! I was craving Carnitas and the place I usually go to was closed. So I ordered the Carnitas, fried zucchini and a slice of cheesecake. Let's start withe the rice and beans. They were ok, nothing to brag about. The Carnitas were dry and bland (my dogs liked it). They had a little bit of a taste after I seasoned them.
