Fresh pasta

Nice friendly neighborhood bar, but the fresh pasta was nothing to write home about. Good amount of beer, wine, and liquor choices.

While in town I realized it was dinner time and I was slightly hangry. I looked up local places on my trusty Yelp app and lo and behold I found "there" Seriously, it's here, Wait no "there" Themed as a Gastropub, I sat at the bar all to my self and since I've been trying, really trying to be good... they had deviled with . I enjoyed my keto themed dinner with sheer delight!! They were nicely garnished with a sriracha base that really gave it a nice heat. I left full and happy knowing I stayed low carb and really enjoyed my meal. In Brookhaven? Hangry like me? Go "There", here Aw jeez go to the gastropub named "There".... The food is outstanding. The bartender is a wealth of knowledge on many subjects. The fellow patrons are dog lovers. Food was as above above par. What more can one say.

Minhzy's Pho Pop-Up Menu. 10/22/2019.
Daniel B.

I visited There for a pop-up this past Tuesday night and had a good time. This is a local gastropub that opened in the Town Brookhaven mixed-use development in 2011-12. It's right across from Costco so there's plenty of parking. My friend Jonathan Truong, former Yelp Atlanta Community Manager (2015-2018), worked with There owner Bill Brown and executive chef Shane Devereux to host "Minhzy's Pho Pop-Up," benefiting the American Heart Association. The turnout was great. Most of the customers throughout the night were there to try the special pop-up Vietnamese menu. There normally serves scratch-made New American cuisine, fare that's more creative and elevated than typical pub grub. They use locally-sourced ingredients. They have an acre of land nearby where they grow a lot of their own produce. In 2017, There won Atlanta Magazine's 3rd Annual Best Burger Battle at Lenox Square, determined by popular vote. Craft cocktails are a specialty. There has a simple space: an L-shaped bar, a few TVs for sports, booths, and versatile tables. Outside, they have a small, dog-friendly, covered patio. The atmosphere is casual and at night, is dimly lit. This place felt like a neighborhood watering hole. They're open late daily and also serve weekend brunch. You can catch live music certain times of the week. I felt comfortable here and enjoyed the ambiance. The pop-up menu consisted of two drinks and three food items: Drinks * Anh Oi ($10) - Vietnamese margarita using fermented lemons and tequila * Minhzy Julep ($10) - Batavia Arrack (Indonesian rice and sugarcane molasses) with ginger, lemongrass, Thai basil, simple syrup, and club soda Food * Veg Papaya Salad ($9) - mix of papaya, sliced napa cabbage, onion, and sprouts topped with cilantro, crushed peanuts, and vegetarian fish sauce * Thit Kho ($10) - four-hour-plus palm-sugar-simmered pork butt and eggs with fresh garlic, caramelized onions, and rendered fish sauce * Momma's Pho ($12) - 50 pounds of beef marrow bones simmered for more than a day, infused with fire-roasted ginger, sweet onions, and lemongrass; rice noodles, cilantro, and scallions, topped with slices of New York strip The menu, which I uploaded to this listing, sounded a lot more colorful and funny with Jon's entertaining writing style. There owner Bill and chef Shane were at the event helping Jon both in the kitchen and out on the dining room floor. Jon and Bill came out and served some dishes themselves. I tried everything, but the Anh Oi. The Minhzy Julep could've been better. A couple others independently agreed. The alcohol tasted cheap. It's okay, though, because this was a fundraiser and we were there to support Jon. The food was a different story. Everything tasted great. All of the dishes were Southern Vietnamese dishes. My favorite dish of the night was actually not the pho, but the rice (Thit Kho). It was really good. The pork had amazing flavor and texture. Savory and rich. I'm pretty sure it was the best Thit Kho I've had anywhere. I was really impressed with it considering Jon isn't a professional chef. The dish could definitely hold its own against any Vietnamese restaurant. The ingredients were fresh and I really liked the addition of the crunchy, raw watercress. Also, not only did the dish taste great, but it looked great too. In general, Jon did a wonderful job with the presentation of all of his dishes. As for the pho, wow. The best part was the meat. My fiancee commented it was the best meat she's ever had in pho and I agree. The meat was high quality, tender, and served rare (it eventually cooked in the hot soup). The beef was super tender and succulent with little fat and virtually no gristle. The broth was clean, clear, and on the light side. Several folks commented on the lightness of the broth. Like the other dishes, all of the ingredients were fresh. I appreciated the attention to detail including stalks of spring onion in the soup and the side plate of veggies including basil, culantro, green *and* red jalapenos, and lime wedges. Jon personally served the side plates. I could tell he put a lot of thought and effort into the execution of each and every dish, both from a taste perspective and a presentation perspective. My friend Melissa said she hasn't had better pho. The Veg Papaya Salad was excellent. I couldn't stop eating it. I've eaten a lot of papaya salad, both here and in Southeast Asia, and I was a big fan of this particular version. It tasted light and fresh. Some papaya salads are just drenched in fish sauce and become salty. Not this one. Also, the consistency of the papaya and cabbage was just right (often, some can be too hard). The shrimp chips were a nice addition, providing an appetizing, contrasting texture. Overall, I loved how spicy the dishes could be too if you ate the Thai chili peppers and jalapenos. It makes my mouth water just thinking about it. Mackenzie B was our server. She was sweet and did a nice job. Thank you, Jon, Bill, and Shane.

Tasty delivery!

I live close to "There" restaurant and yet have never gone in. While in quarantine I decided to give them a try for lunch. The hamburger was very tasty and the sauce was delicious. I also ordered their wontons which were enormes. They also had a well seasoned salad on the side which I ended up putting in my burger. The portion sizes of the dishes were humongous. I had half for lunch and saved the other half for dinner time. Overall good, and I will definitely visit the restaurant once businesses are again open to the public. To be continued...

Sorry, future Terra Terroir patrons, that table is ours now. We'll let you use it when we're not there. ;-) Our server was very pleasant. Sorry didn't catch her name. Our dinner included the Oysters and Okra appetizer. Proof you can fry anything and make it good. But the mustard dip/sauce that came with it was excellent (I say this as a non-mustard person). My husband's entree was the scallops. He enjoyed them. I had the KC strip steak with smashed yukon potatoes and forest mushrooms with a sauce and broccolini. I was not a fan of the broccolini (a bit bitter), but the flavors /seasoning of the rest of the meal made up for it. I had a citrus and a hibiscus mocktail. Not bad, but probably would just get a Coke next time. I cannot say enough about the fresh bread and butter. Heavenly. But why only 3 slices for two people? I wish they would expand their mocktail offerings, but other than that, I'm glad we picked this place for our random Wednesday date night.

No-go for us. While Terra Terroir carries a fine-dining price point, the quality of food, service,…read moreand atmosphere fell well short of expectations. Some describe this place as charming, but we felt the opposite; the interiors seem tired and could use some polish and updates, and most table florals were wilted. The garden area has potential, but the mix of faux plants, dated light fixtures, and inexpensive tables gives it a less refined vibe. Menu-wise, prices don't align with plating, flavor, or overall experience. Even the wine list leans heavily toward entry-level bottles rather than thoughtful pairings. On the positive side, the host greeted us warmly, and we were seated right away (only two other tables were occupied on a Thurs @ 6p). Unfortunately, service lagged after that. Our server was pleasant but offered little guidance when asked about menu highlights ("everything" was the answer), water refills were sparse, and empty plates lingered well into the next course until we finally stacked them ourselves. Food notes: * Scallop & corn fritters - 6/10 ($18). Moist and flavorful but over-fried; plating felt amateur for the price, and the sauce was thick and dull. Honestly, LaGarde & Confab down the street both do significantly better fritters for less ($11), with a better vibe * Jumbo crab cake - 6/10 ($21). Nice flavor, but again, not worth the price. (Even Chops Lobster Bar charges just a few dollars more for a far superior experience.) The jicama slaw was fresh but overly soaked in sugar water * Burger - 9/10. The highlight of the night! * Salmon - 4/10. Overcooked, overly salty, served on plain couscous with the saltiest green beans I've ever had, all topped with a syrupy blueberry sauce. * Grapefruit & pomegranate salad - 6/10. Overdressed, with too much sweetness from the pomegranate-honey vinaigrette; the grapefruit tasted canned. Grilled shrimp were cooked nicely. Not sure how this earned an OpenTable Diners' Choice 2025 badge... it wouldn't crack my top 100 spots in Atlanta. And yes, a cat ran across the rafters mid-meal.

I found…read morethem on Yelp a week or so before and ended up making a reservation on their website the next day. I'm so glad we listened to the other reviews and gave them a visit because our entire table of four had a lovely time. We started with drinks and I settled on a glass of wine. They had the exact type of sauvignon blanc that I wanted, which was an immediate win. As a group we settled on the whipped goat cheese and brussel sprouts for appetizers. The brussel sprouts came with bacon so I steered clear, but the others raved about them. The whipped goat cheese dip was also a nice choice with the garden veggies. Super creamy and refreshing. As for my entree I went with risotto of the week with salmon. It was absolutely delicious and I ate every bite. We had a birthday in the group so we of course had to get desserts. We shared the creme brulee and this super decadent chocolate cake. Both with fresh berries, love! The creme brulee was definitely my favorite of the two, but you can't go wrong. As for the space itself, it's beautiful. It gave off a sort of a modern farmhouse vibe with the wood and brick. With the twinkle lights and earthy touches bringing it all together. Our service was also on point. Jackson was awesome (as you can see in the other reviews) and kept the good vibes flowing all night. I would definitely come here again.

The Ashford is a pretty nice place to grab either brunch, lunch, or dinner! We came around 7, so we had dinner. You can sit outside or inside, the weather was really nice, but we just wanted to sit inside in the AC. I got a glass of the bieler rose, which was recommended by our server. My wife got the lavender daydreams cocktail, which was really good! We all shared the chicken spring rolls and the burrata bruschetta. Both were really good! The chicken spring rolls were in a rice paper, and not the usual wonton paper. I don't usually like the rice paper spring rolls, but these ones weren't too bad. For our main, me and my wife got the chicken schnitzel. They even split it on two different plates for us too, which was nice of them to do. It was SO GOOD. Pretty sure I inhaled mine! We also shared the mac and cheese and the mashed potatoes. The mac and cheese was soooooo good. It was a pimento mac and cheese, and had herbed breadcrumbs. Chef's kiss! The only reason this isn't getting 5 stars, is because our food took FOREVER to come out. There were some larger parties, so I do get it, but this was like 30-45 minutes forever. Also, I can't remember which dish, but one of the dishes me and my wife got was cold, so we asked to send it back to get a warmer version, which they did. They comped this off the bill, which was nice. That didn't bother me as much as the food coming out so late. Had that not been the case, I would've given this review 5 stars! The food was really really good. We would definitely still come back in the future!

After that, we shared an 8-inch Margherita pizza, which was the perfect size to split without feeling overstuffed. I washed it all down with their house-made lemonade, which was so good a refill felt mandatory. The service was friendly and quick. Next time, and I think there will be a next time, I will ask if they can make it less sweet. Also, the cherry was completely wrong. At least it wasn't good. I take my cherries very seriously in my old-fashioned. My burger was good and the Caesar salad was delicious. However, it just didn't hit the way that I had hoped. The restaurant was also out of Tabasco. They gave me a buffalo sauce which in my opinion was gross. I hope this restaurant finds its bold audacious way of telling the neighborhood who they are and what they offer. I feel like they're trying to figure out what the neighborhood wants. We thought it would be fine because our reservation slot was for 2.5 hours, which is plenty of time. From the moment we arrived service was extremely slow. Drinks took forever to come and some were forgotten. My friend got a virgin raspberry mojito and it was so sour it was undrinkable. We had asked multiple times for one regular menu to order from and for some simple syrup for the mojito, neither of which we got. We pretty much had one server for our table of 18 people, and he was serving other tables as well. He told us at the start that another server would be helping but she was barely seen. It got to the point where my husband and I had to get up to talk to management. They were apologetic, gave us a bottle of rose, and asked how they can make it better. I told them that things need to be on time not just because we were approaching the end of our reservation but also because we had plans right after. Service was still slow and once we were finished we were still sitting and waiting for the check. We ended up being late to our other plans. Keep in mind this was our wedding day. We had just gotten married and everybody was in a great mood. We were nice and clearly communicated our needs even though service was lacking throughout the whole dinner. I write a review and then a day later they reply to my review, telling lies to try and discredit me. As if the poor service during dinner wasn't enough, their timing and dishonesty reflects their lack of respect for their customers. We spent over $2000 which included a 22% gratuity fee. Such a waste of money. You couldn't pay me to come here again. If you're looking for a restaurant for a wedding, proposal, anniversary, celebration, graduation, reunion, date, large party, or really anything, save yourself the trouble. Jahjoy pork belly: Tasty & tendor. I loved the papaya salad which left a refreshing contrast. A bit too saucy for me. Flavors were strong. Squid ink bucatini: our favorite! Must get dish - bucatini is perfectly al dente & the spicy sauce was very flavorful. Jumbo shrimp was delicious, and the anchovy on top left a nice strong flavor. Red snapper: This has some Vietnamese influences with the sauce. It was a lighter dish which was just OK for me, I would have liked the fish to have a crispier skin. Not much flavor besides the sauce which is inspired by canh chua. Wagyu flank steak: cooked to perfection and flavored well, loved the celery puree which was much tastier than we expected celery to be. Dessert was mint chocolate cake which was very tasty. Loved the ambiance, my server was great. I came alone on a random Friday night around 8pm and there…read moreweren't many people seated inside. I had the gnocchi and ciabatta bread for the appetizer (very good, and I don't like mushrooms!), and lobster risotto with Brussels. 2 strong Le Frenchies to drink! Would love to come back with my friends.

Located in the Burgess Hotel, this hidden gem had me considering a return the next day. When I walked in I was stunned by the beautiful and intentional decor. Such a cute entry, bar, lobby and restaurant - made me wish I was staying at the hotel! We were seated promptly and received excellent service. We had an idea of what to order based on reviews, but the server provided additional recommendations. He was awesome. For starters, we shared pan-seared potato gnocchi with an order of grilled ciabatta on the side to soak up that delicious sauce. This is a must try!!! It was so good, I could have enjoyed it as my meal. The flavor was out of this world, the chef definitely got it right! I chose the braised lamb shank for my entree. Another banger. So tender it fell off the bone. Flavorful..Moist... SO good! The portion was huge too, it could be shared by two unless you have a big appetite. It was a whole meal for me another day. I can't say it enough, the chef really understands flavor profiles and how to make them come to life. Didn't order dessert, but I did have the coconut pecan old fashioned and Le Frenchie. Both were good but Le Frenchie was really my speed. Had the best time and experience here. I would visit in a heartbeat the next time I'm in Atlanta.
