Wanted this place to be good. Unfortunately it just wasn't. Started with the manhattan that was served warm which wasn't what I was looking for. Then moved to the fried pickles that were more fried batter than they were pickles. Reminded me of eating a corn dog. For the meal had the lamb pasta which tasted great, but I woke up the following morning with food poisoning from it. This place has a great concept but just isn't up to par. read more

Hey if you are looking for a good burger that's the right place for you! The bison Burger was amazing. Probably as good as Holeman and Finch. I was also pleased with the There salad ( because I'm completely crazy with pistachios) and I think is a great variation for the almonds and pecans ( usually out there in any restaurant on the market) The star of the night is the Tomato soup. It's made of fresh tomatoes and cream. Tasty and worth it the $4 for a little cup ( believe me, you will regret not ordering a hole bow of it) . The only thing missing was a little toast or piece of bread on the side of the place. If you are looking for a place that looks like a bar but with great food , that's where you want to go. The atmosphere is casual for a good thursday or friday night with friends. PS: A lot of people think deviled eggs and burgers are not inspiring. I think is the classic american food, and when is well made, it's a strike for sure. read more

i keep giving this place another chance and it keeps going down hill. different staff every time I go in there. I suppose high turn around because they dont make money waiting tables. place is half empty for lunch and wait service is still bad. food is inconsistent. sometimes they cook the burger right, sometimes they dont. there doesnt seem to be any standards. guess they hope the cook that day gets it right. i have to say I wont go there anymore. too many other options in this city and area to not know what will happen when we sit down. read more

First, the place was so dark I didn't even think it was open. I went inside and stood around before someone came out to seat me. I ordered the fried pickles and the Skirt Steak on risotto plate. The pickles took a long time - and the place was not busy. They were ok, but the batter was so thick that you could barely taste the pickle. The dipping sauce was good though. The skirt steak came out before I was done with the appetizer. It was so thin that I wouldn't even call it a steak. It was hard to cut and chewy to eat. The menu indicated it was on a bed for red wine risotto with mushrooms. Failed to mention it also had green beans, which I dislike. But, it was so dark I could barely see what I was eating anyway. What an interesting experience at the most unexpected of locations, but yes, we went There. First, we had a great and quirky server names Sam (girl, don't assume). She was a trip and a half and so much fun to have as our waitress for the evening. She was delightful and made helpful menu suggestions and friendly enough without being intrusive. Unfortunately, it sounds like she only works on Fridays. The atmosphere needs a little bit of work - it seems a bit sparse inside and looking for an identity. The space is on the smallish side, and it did get louder as it got full, but no so as you couldn't watch TV or talk to your friends. The food. We ordered: Crab Fritters Vodka-Beer Battered Fried Pickles with Dill Ranch Fried Oysters with with Sweet Bell Pepper Drizzle and Remoulade Braised Short Rib with Turnip Green Flan and Butternut Squash Grilled Shrimp with Angel Hair Crawfish Étouffée over Cheddar & Poblano Grit Cakes Brussels Sprouts Green Beans My items were the pickles (OMG, I wish I could classify this has a fritter I am such a fan), the oysters and the short rib. After a couple of hours there, we had ordered 3 (maybe even 4) orders of the pickles - these were the best item of the night with the shaved Brussels a close second. The oysters were delicious. I loved the combo of the remoulade and the peppers; the oddity was the varying sizes of the oysters. Some were must larger and some were the small, sweet ones. Weird, but they were all delicious. As for the short rib, the meat was succulent and falling apart. It was so tender, I could have eaten my weight in it. My friends will tell you that if a short rib or pork belly is on the menu, odds are I WILL order it. The turnip green flan was amazingly good, but so tiny in comparison to the dish. What was not written on the menu was that it also came with the butternut squash - wow, sweet and caramely. WOW. I wanted more. My only other complaint, sort of, was when I first got there. The "host," I guess, was confused by the need for a table for 5 people. He looked around no knowing where to put us (I was by myself). He offered to put 2 tables together, then changed his mind. Next, he said he would pull up a 5th chair to a 4-top. I explained we would be eating, and possibly a lot, and that the tables weren't big enough. He then suggested a booth and pointed me to one. I walked to it and realized the booth seats are not glued or nailed down - so the other tables had smushed all together so that no even Barbie, herself, could sit in this booth he was offering. So I asked to take one in the back instead. He was confounded. I walked to the back and it took him at least 5 minutes to bring me an extra chair. It was a little off-putting, but he made it right and I think ultimately understood my point. They need a little work, but the food is great. They need to work on the rest. read more

I fell in love with this place for the best reason of all... The food There was phenomenal. Everything we got was a culinary masterpiece. I started with the crawfish étoufée... Now, i expected it to be tasty, but i didn't expect it to be heaven! It was probably one of the best things i've eaten since i have lived in Atlanta. It definitely rivaled anything i would get in Charleston (which has great food and specializes in seafood, if you didn't know...). The flavor was just so... flavorful! It came out piping hot (as did everything else), and the texture of everything from the grit cake to the sauce was just perfect. I just gushed about it to my friend who went with me.... I was like "I wish you ate seafood because this is just sublime". Next, I ordered the (beef) burger and fries. Both stand-outs... absolutely delicious... and again piping hot and perfectly fresh. My friend ordered the chicken fried chicken and again... stellar. A fantastic cut of chicken breast perfectly breaded and fried served with awesome mashed potatoes and green beans. I'll admit the green beans were a little too soft (maybe overcooked?), but with entrées and an appetizer so good, that was only a small issue. On top of that, the service from our waiter was fantastic. Wonderfully nice, friendly, courteous, and he got us everything we needed. There is my new favorite restaurant and i have fallen in love. MEDIOCRE SERVICE, DIRTY BATHROOM, & GOOD (BUT OVERPRICED) FOOD We arrived for lunch on a Saturday around noon and were instructed to have a seat anywhere. We appeared to be the third table of the day. Our server was very nice, but a touch slow. To her credit, she was the only one working the floor. Upon sitting we were given menus, but not offered kids' menus. We simply assumed they don't have a kids' menu at all and because our kids eat anything this was no big deal. We look at the specials and see spaghetti and meatballs. What kid doesn't like that, right? We sell our kids on that and go to order it. Our waitress then tells us that they are out of meatballs. On your 'specials'? Three tables into the day? Not so special, I suppose. So I then ask what else are you out of before we continue ordering. She mentions THREE other items they don't have! THEN after all of this she volunteers an entire kids' menu verbally, but says to hold tight while she makes sure they still have the kids' menu items. (SIGH) Sadly, as the place is filling up the time between her trips to our table are longer and longer. They DO have chicken fingers. Success! I order the Bison Burger, my husband and our friend both ordered the There Burger, and our two kids had chicken fingers and fries. She asks how I want my burger cooked and I said Medium. While waiting on food, I take my 5 year old to the bathroom. It is a wreck. Toilet paper is all over the floor and hairs are scattered in both sinks. I easily gathered this place gets more bar-like in the evenings and the bathrooms had not been touched since. Our friend was on his one hour lunch break and at 5 minutes to 1pm we still didn't have our food. He finally left with no food. Another server joins her on the floor. Our food finally arrives and my husband is very pleased with his There Burger. I thought the Bison Burger was good, but certainly not a touch pink on the inside and most definitely not worth $14.50. And - of course - our kids think the chicken fingers are great. She boxes our friend's There Burger (as we requested) and discounted our ticket 20% (without our having said a word about our displeasure with the experience). As people who love eating experiences ranging from Six Feet Under and the Food Truck Park to Rathbun's and Miller Union, we know what good food is and don't mind paying the appropriate value. Ultimately my vote is that I've had way better, I won't be back, and this place needs some organization and quality assurance. read more

Best food, best local craft beers, and best cocktails hands down. Sunday brunch is great. The jazz combo is super talented. Ask about the food specials as they are so good they end up making the regular menu. The Bison burger is the best burger I've ever had. The bloody is on point and if you are a Manhattan fan you'll want a second. Everything is fresh and you can taste the quality from the ingredients grown at There's local garden, items bought at the local farmer's, and bread from Lee's bakery. My husband and I stopped in here on a rainy Saturday night a few weeks ago and were very pleased with out experience. We had the burger which was OUTSTANDING along with the french fries, which I believe were garlic/rosemary and were also delicious. We met the bar manager and the owner. They were both super nice and spent lots of time chatting with us to make sure we had a great time and also shared the backstory of the place. Just wasn't for me. I must admit this was our first time There and we only had one drink and an appetizer but they were both so unappealing that we decided to go somewhere else for dinner. The Very Berry cocktail tasted exactly like Dimetapp cough medicine. I couldn't even get it down. Then we had the Smoked Chicken Rangoons appetizer. The chicken was so overwhelmingly smoky that we couldn't finish it. I'm hoping it's not normally that intense and we just got one that was left in the smoker too long. Today wasn't my first time There, nor will it be my last! I got the bison burger with fries. The meat was crazy tender and juicy, the bun was even more delicious than I remembered and the poblano and avocado just absolutely set this burger apart from the rest. The service here was fine, but the food was extremely mediocre. The fried pickles were fried in this very strange, very puffy batter. Don't go (T)HERE! I rarely review - it has to be exceptionally wonderful or extremely bad in order to prompt me to review. Simply put, the service and management here is a joke. The food was good (although our orders were totally wrong and salad portions were small and thrown together carelessly). Waited for 40 minutes, server came to check on our waters and WE HAD TO ASK when our appetizers and food were coming... he gave us a confused look and said "ill check". Brought them out after 10 additional minutes with minimal explanation and zero accountability or apology. There "computer was messed up and the chefs didn't see the order..." I suppose the computer could have been messed up, but even so, don't you have a BRAIN and common sense??? Would be more understandable on a busy night, but we came at 3pm on a Thursday and were the ONLY customers (aside from one lady at the bar). All the staff and cooks were standing around talking the entire time we were waiting for our food. I'll never give them by business again based on the principal and how they handled the situation. Manager was there and wouldn't even face us! They couldn't have cared less that they wasted our time and that's a place that will never get my business. read more

Talk about your neighborhood bar/restaurant. I stopped in for a pop up dinner with a good friend of mine from Amelia Island. He was evacuating for the hurricane. While he was here he hooked up with Bill the owner and they got together for this wonderful meal. Now the place is nice inside with some old music memorabilia on the walls. This is also a place where most of the folks in here know each other from the condos that surround the joint. I hear that the normal food is really good and the chef and owner truly care about what they put on the plate. On this night Chef Jose Salome from Atlanta fame was severing up some of his own creations. The chunu oysters with a tropical salsa and a jalapeño slice was an amazing start. We moved onto a fresh striped bass with fingerling potatoes and a herb broth that was plate slurping good. The highlight of the night was Chef's own award winning dish of braised short rib and cauliflower puree with crispy brussel sprout. This was a spectacular dish and I could hear the raves all around the bar. I enjoyed this tasting menu so much I ordered it twice. Now I would follow Chef Jose anywhere and I was really glad that I got the phone call that he was in town. I will also return to There the Gastropub again soon enough. read more

I went here on a Friday night couple nights ago. I looked at the menu and noticed that they have nothing vegetarian, not even a sandwich or pasta. The waitress said the chef could accommodate a vegetarian customer by putting together some kind of veggie plate. I'm always wary when the item is not on the menu and I was right to be. The veggies were bland, oily and boring... nothing I would ever order again. I was hungry though so no choice but to eat it. The bison burger is great - as good as you can get. The service is very good too (although it hasn't been crowded when I've gone). The reuben is huge and if you get fries with it, you'll end up with enough food for at least 2 meals. The salmon with orzo was also good - the salmon was served with the skin up, which I thought was strange, but it was very good. It was a more normal-sized meal with adequate portions but not over the top like the reuben. read more

As for the service 1 out of 10 as for cleanliness again 1 out of 10 women's bathrooms proped open with trash cans at dinner service, the men's had no trash can and the towels were being thrown on the floor needs a paint job and a good clean. My husbad and I ate there the friday after christmas. We had a young man as our server, that didnt seem to know much about anything (bless is heart) He had to keep going back to the kitchen when we asked questions. He also gave us the wrong menu specials that we were trying to order, and he came back to give us the correct one. He was very nice though. so for the app's I had Fried Avocado & Cherry Peppers tempura fried avocado and peppers with house made wasabi/nori mayo Pepper seeds got stuck in my throat (almost choked) could not eat the peppers at all, and the mayo I got was just plain mayo that was hot, as if it was setting up. I think someone gave me the wrong dipping sauce. the few fried avacado pieces was just ok. I will not order this again. My husband had Crawfish Etouffe served over poblano & white cheddar grit cake He said it was real good. So I ordered for dinner Chicken Fried Chicken served with white gravy, potato pancake and southern green beans My husband ordered Steamed whole Lobster off the special menu only butter came with it, so he ordered some Garlic Rosemary Fries and told the server to bring them while we wait on the meal. Thank goodness we did, the food took forever,and only a few people were there. I believe they were steaming only 1 or 2 lobsters at a time, 2 people at the bar ordered them as well.. The garlic fries were VERY GOOD!! I love the almost raw garlic, but many people may not. My favorite thing there! The chicken dinner was good, but they smothered the entire plate in gravy, and I couldnt taste my green beans because they were swimming in gravy! also that took away the crispyness in the chicken. YES I will order this again, but with the gravy on the side. The lobster was just a hair over cooked, said my husband, but not too bad I had a taste, he was right, but We will eat here again, and try the burgers. We went to There for Brunch on a Saturday around 11. We were the only people in the place so it was a little odd. Our server told us how they had a brand new chef and how the menu was about to get soooo good. I ordered the deviled eggs for an appetizer and the crab cakes Benedict for my meal. It took an hour for our food to come out and my benedict didn't have eggs on it? It was basically a crab cake on an English muffin. They seemed to be a little off.. It was an interesting experience but I will say my crab cake was insane. read more
