Found this place when driving into Cambridge to find a drug store. We were vacationing at The Wilds in Cumberland. Boy, are we glad we stumbled upon it. We both ordered sandwiches, which were very good and the fries were yummy. The best part PIE, PIE, PIE! Save room for pie. I ordered Peach Pie and my husband ordered Chocolate Cream Pie. The slices were huge and the taste...outstanding. I have never had a peach pie so delicious in my life. My husband loves chocolate cream pie and said it was one of the best. I told him we must make a trip down to Cambridge to get more PIE! read more

There was a good sized crowd but we didn't have to wait more than a couple of minutes before we were seated. I read some of the reviews so I ordered a hamburger since it came highly recommended. It was very good as was the service and the overall ambiance but the reason I will go back is the pie. It was delicious and my companions raved about their pie as well. read more

I have been eating here for over 35 years and this possibly will be my last visit. The waitress was inattentive and rude. My meal was horrible and no one cared. Suggestion don't call it a Philly Steak Sandwich when it would barely qualify as a Steak-Umm Sandwich. It was dry, tasteless and raw peppers (uncooked and poorly cut). I lived in the Philly area and what I had was not a Philly Steak but a Gross Mess!!! I went to Theo's while conductIng a training session for work. I had been told, "Everything's delicious, save room for pie." I had the creamed chicken over biscuit with apple sauce and mashed potatoes. I wish I had an extra slice of bread to sop up the rest of the gravy once I was done. The dish was absolutely delicious. For dessert I went with the black raspberry pie; though I definitely would have considered any of the 12 or so other pie options. I'm told that the peanut butter chocolate is one of the best. Aside from just how great the pie tastes, it's very well priced at just over $2/slice. Definitely check out Theo's if you're near Cambridge. I'm already trying to plan future training sessions there, just to have a meal there, and save room for pie! Also; they will validate your parking for the nearby parking lot if you ask. read more

On my way to Pittsburgh recently, my wife and I stopped at a small restaurant in Cambridge, OH for a bite. I had found it ahead of time online as a good in-between place to stop. Based on the prices on the online menu, I had assumed the dinners were ala carte. Not true, not true at all. I had Jack Daniel's marinated pork chops. The chops were small and thin...but there were three of them. I also felt the sauce was a little too sweet. It came with two sides, I took the cucumber and tomato salad (this wasn't a greens salad, but rather cucumbers, tomatoes and onions in a yogurt based sauce, actually a pleasant surprise as it was very tasty) and mashed potatoes. The price for all of that was $7.95. It would be a stretch to say the food was delicious, but for $7.95 I was expecting straight gruel. Had it been gruel, I probably would have not even been disappointed. But this was definitely a step up from gruel. The ambiance was passable as well, the same kind of completely neutral décor you would expect from pretty much any family restaurant. For the price, I can't help but heartily recommend it. read more

We used to live on the east coast before we moved to the midwest. We liked where we live now, but one thing we miss is the Greek diner. By that I don't mean a place where you can get stuffed grape leaves, but rather a place where you can get just about anything you want and trust that it will be pretty good, relatively inexpensive and served promptly by a friendly staff. In short, the iced tea will be fresh and refreshing. So it is, based on one lunch, at Theo's in downtown Cambridge, Ohio. We were in the midst of a day-long drive and looking for something local and cheerful. Theo's has been a fixture in Cambridge for more than 80 years, with the same family in charge all along. Some of the lunch crowd we saw may have been at the grand opening, but we always enjoy the increasingly rare opportunity to bring down the average age in a place. A good but not overwhelming list of choices on the menu, which appeared to be recently updated. As noted above, the fresh and brisk iced tea was a good sign. We took a chance on the fish and chips, which is not always properly prepared in diners. Good score. The two large filets of fish were fresh and covered in a crispy and tangy breading. The fries were good as well. We tried the chicken salad, too, and it passed the test as pretty good, relatively inexpensive and promptly served. Don't expect a food adventure at Theo's. My family and I were in town and wanted to grab some lunch. There are not too many places to pick in a small town. It's always hard to find the gem in the unknown but here one is! This place was packed with a lunch crowd! You seat yourself and a wait staff comes by to take your order. They have an extensive list of daily specials! We ordered an appetizer of fried mushrooms...let me just say those puppies were tasty! Try then!! My Dad ordered the meatloaf special and that was huge! The portions here are jumbo! My brother ordered the special pork burger and seemed to really like it! My mom ordered the soups special of French onion (she is super picky about her French onion soup) but she said it was one of her favorites. I got a side salad and a cup of the spicy chili (be warned it's zippy). Since every table seemed to have pie ordered we decided to also! My mom got the peanut butter pie (it was creamy and very peanut buttery). My brother got the coconut cream pie and ate it all. I ordered the black raspberry pie but didn't think it was amazing. Overall this restaurant was a hit besides my pie slice. Definitely worth a stop! read more

Ate dinner here on a busy Friday evening with 60+ relatives as the kickoff event of a weekend family reunion at Salt Fork State Park. Great food, superb service for our big group, and separate checks for each couple/family. A wine, a beer, crab stuffed Alaska Whitefish, a gyro sandwich, and a slice of chocolate cream pie, $21.00? A friend if mine and myself were just passing through the area and picked this place on a whim, and it was frankly the BEST decision we've made in a while! The service is very friendly with such a down-home polite attitude. I ordered the steak sandwich with grilled onions and it was one of the best I've ever had! I dined here recently while staying in Cambridge overnight. This was not our first choice, but the first restaurant we stopped in was far too crowded on a Friday night. We were happy to find Theo's with tables available. The initial impression wasn't a great one. The decor is plain at best, even a little shabby, and the service we received was very inattentive. (Took a long time for someone to take our order, took a long time for our server to notice my food had never come out - while my companion's had, etc). As another reviewer mentioned, they employ teenage girls who don't seem to have much instruction or supervision. As for the food, we splurged on a carb fest of the beer battered onion rings AND the battered fried mushrooms. Boy am I glad we did, both were fantastic. (The fried mushrooms were so good that I've been idly considering buying a fryer since eating here). But, I should have just ended my order there. I added a chef's salad which was pretty mediocre, with wilted ice berg lettuce and lunch meat grade meats that were not at their prime. Would I go back? If I had to eat in Cambridge, I probably would, because it's probably one of the better bets in town, and the prices were extremely reasonable. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again though. read more

Second visit to Theo's in 10 years, now I remember why. Service was ok, waitress slow but friendly. Masks worn by all employees, thank heavens. Unfortunately a huge woman with a bad cough and sneezing proceeded to sit within 6 feet of our table and the waitress kept giving her more napkins for her nose instead of asking her to leave to potentially protect the rest of us in the restaurant. Not bad... not bad. Recently, I had the mushroom swiss burger here. Really good! Service here is super friendly as well. Also had some chicken tenders here on another occasion and they were simply OK. Nothing special. However, the bathrooms were absolutely disgusting. The floor by the urinal area of the men's room was covered with what seemed to be urine. If they let the bathrooms get like that... what's their kitchen like? If it weren't for the nasty bathrooms, this place would get at least 3 stars. read more

This is a diner style restaurant, and they are FANTASTIC!!! Very friendly service, the wait staff up sells to add pies, but the pies ARE great! we got 2 slices to enjoy, and both were very good. From what I saw, a very well oiled machine, hard working, open kitchen...ate here twice while visiting Salt fork state park in 4 days. Theo's is the real deal, wish all restaurants were run this well. read more

I grew up in Cambridge, and my family used to love Theo's; alas, it is not what it used to be. We've been back in the past year and found it disappointing. My French onion soup was all cheese with little broth that was bland. Our fried mushrooms were soggy and tasted like they had been frozen. The batter on my fish and chips barely stuck to the fish, and the bottom was soggy. Their menu is too big and too varied; they need to pinpoint a theme. And, being from a Greek family, their gyros are a joke. Bland tsatziki, and the lamb is definitely fake and processed. read more

This is an excellent restaurant with a great menu. The service was speedy, insightful, and helpful. The wait staff cared for each table and customer. The ambiance was casual and the restaurant was full, but customers were not hurried and conversations could be carried on easily. The selection of foods ranged from expected comfort and family food to more interesting fare such as crab cakes with an alfredo sauce drizzled on top. The prices were more than reasonable encouraging a return visit. I am only sorry that I am just passing through town. This place is a gem. read more

A Historical Cambridge Institution...around since 1931. Warm, cozy atmosphere combined with good old "Home Cooking" is a real treat each and every time! Enjoy a wide variety of meals but the Legendary Coney Dogs, or Hot Chili is tough to beat! Of course...many just come for the Infamous Berry, Custard or Creme Pies! One bite and you are hooked! Every thing I have had here was top notch. Food is so subjective. That Bobby Flays restaurant would probably get criticized on here :) Lunch time is packed most times. When you have to wait in line for lunch. That says something there in of itself. Its downtown so parking isn't the best I have not had the chance to try dinner time there. So I cant rate that time frame. But its worth going here. read more

I went to Theo's before and had a pretty bad experience. But my mother convinced me to try it again. The food was cold, the server never refilled my drink, and I had to flag one down and asked for the check. Thankfully she was rude about it. During the entire time we were seated, the servers were either talking to each other. The best part was when she sat down another table and made sure to check on them often, ignoring us to the point she raised her finger at me in the gesture of just a minute. She never came back. My mother loves this restaurant and said both times were off days. I am going back up to visit my parents for fathers day and I might get talked back into eating here. Been here several times. Food is ok but the pies are my favorite. Last time I visited I heard their ribeye. Nothing to write home about, I make better at home. Our kids like the chicken fingers, they look homemade but not sure about that. Now about the pies...big selection to choose from. The berry pies are my favorite...all of them. Their peanut butter pie is awesome too. I would recommend this place for a nice desert and coffee after you've eaten dinner somewhere else. read more

We are fans of breaded mushrooms so we ordered 2 & we all said thy were one of the best we had! Next time we travel, we will definitely stop to eat here.
