The staff is friendly enough. The ambiance is nice enough. You get your hopes up. The food is expensive because... chances are YOU WILL ONLY EAT THERE ONCE. It reminded us of a chintzy Bahamian vacation we took years ago. It was sub par. If this is 4 stars in Cambridge, Ohio, we'll go eat at some drive thru and a rest area. It was late and we were looking for any place other than fast food. As we drove to this place we wondered where the heck we were. It is in a neighborhood and bit out but definitely worth it. Everyone that works there were extremely friendly. We ordered the steak burger and it was delicious. Worth the drive if you are close to Cambridge. read more

Found Central Station Steak & Ale to be just OK-ish Stopped by for early dinner. The restaurant was about 1/3 full. No line but we waited at the door ungreeted long enough for me to , after a couple minutes, find the restroom, use it and return to the door before being greeted/seated. The restaurant is pretty standard issue tables/booths. It does have a large covered outside seating area with a bar inside and out . It was pretty humid so there were no outside tables. Decor wise, as stated, not particularly inviting. Nothing special or unique. The menu is not large, but well done with choices ranging from steaks to entrees to sandwiches to salads. Several items sounded good while deciding. Our server was, utilitarian. Rote almost. Not much in the way of hospitality. My daughter is a server and she described our server as "mid....at best". We essentially received the basics. Order taken, drinks brought, runner brought the food, server brought the check. No refills on drinks no check back. Just literally the minimum. This would have been understandable had she been "in the weeds" but she had 2 tables.....and I could not get my drink refilled Food wise i had a burger, wife had Fish and Chips, daughter had the walleye. Again, the word that comes to mind is adequate. Portions were good sized, plating was nice. Flavors trended towards bland. Nothing jumped off the plates. There was no wow factor. It was Appleby-esque levels of food. As a plus they do have fresh cut fries, but I found them to be slightly doughy and in need of more time in the fryer. I always try to get a look at other tables food and felt similarly about what I saw. Nothing made me say "I want THAT!". Price wise we were at $75 pretip for a burger/Fish and chips/a dinner/ and shared onion rings. Price was decent, but the food was not special in any way. My advice, go to the Bear's Den. Similar menu and price with FAR better service and food quality. read more

Stopped here on Friday night as we were traveling by on 70 and we are so glad we did! It was a great experience. We were seated immediately, had a hard time picking from all of the great options, food arrived quickly, service was kind and attentive and our meals were delicious. Plus, great value! The steaks were cooked perfectly and full of flavor. The grilled fish was also really tasty. Casual and comfortable environment; we had a great booth. Place was lively without being too loud. Visited CSSA recently with my mom. The reviews for this place were good, but the location unusual. Upon arrival, we were promptly seated, given menus, and our drink requests were taken. Reviewing the menu, we requested fried pickles and fish n chips. Then a small fresh loaf of bread was served, which was warm and delicious. It reminded me of the bread my mom used to make. Not long after, the pickles were delivered. They were hot ad delicious. After that, the fish n chips arrived. The fish was hot and tasty. I wish the portion size was a little larger. Maybe they could throw in 5 fish fingers instead of 4. This is a good restaurant and we will visit again in the future. Hopefully, they expand the menu. Good stuff! read more

I thought I was definitely going to the wrong place. It is in an industrial looking building, in a neighborhood of trailers, and across from a factory. But pickings are scarce in Cambridge, and this is a good choice. Good service, good food, great prices. I was just passing through and I'd visit again if I wanted a steak. Nice selection of sides. Our group ordered the battered shrimp and it had to be returned because of over cooking. The Chicken Parmesan was ordered and it was totally over cooked and not eatable. Not sure if there has been a change in chef or what but was highly disappointed with the food that was served. read more

Walked in at 6pm on a Thursday and sat at the bar. One waitress walked past me 3 times and never said a word despite eye contact. 2 other workers looked at me and continued what they were doing. For 10 minutes I was completely ignored. There was 1 other person at the bar and maybe 4 tables in total seated. I wanted to try this place but their incompetence and unprofessional shined! My wife and I were staying the night in Cambridge and wanted to go somewhere other than a fast food chain for dinner. After perusing Yelp, we came up with Central Station Steak & Ale. This place is definitely off the beaten path. But after one visit, I think I can say we would go back for another. Overall, the restaurant was clean and tidy. We chose to sit outside on the patio. We were surprised how quickly the restaurant was filling up. We opened with adult beverages, a glass of wine for my wife and a Manhattan for me. I'm not sure what was in the glass other than some whiskey and possibly sweet vermouth but I do know I tasted simple syrup. I'm not sure if this is a local variation of a Manhattan, but I know they're not difficult to make and do not have simple syrup. We ordered our main courses, a chicken Caesar wrap with homemade chips for my wife and a Cajun sirloin steak with baked potato and broccoli for me. An uncut loaf of bread came out as bread service. I've never been keen on that. I would rather a roll or something that I don't have to cut myself. Our main courses came out surprisingly fast! My steak was sizzling, perfectly seasoned, and delicious! The baked potato was ridiculously huge and the broccoli tasty as well. My wife's wrap was huge! She thought it could have a little bit more seasoning. After striking out on the Manhattan, I decided on a can of Brew Dog IPA. Though I was leaning towards three stars overall, four stars is more deserving. read more

Well this place delivers. Juicy, flavorful, well seasoned and several choices for great sides. I like my burgers without ketchup because I like the flavor of the beef. Tender, not fatty and accompanied with a great tasting fresh bun! I decided to try the onion rings too! Thick cut battered onion rings that you would expect from a roadside steakhouse! Holy cow what a diamond in the rough. I got a hotel in Cambridge due to heavy snow and slick roads. I asked the front desk lady, where to get the best steak in town and was told central station steak & ale. After navigating through town into a quiet residential area I came upon the steakhouse. Walking in the front door the feeling is how most people would describe a dive restaurant. The place is super clean and I didn't see a waitress that wasn't super attractive. After looking over the menu I noticed they had tons of super unique hamburgers to choose from along with fresh fish and chicken dishes. After a little convincing, the waitress helped me choose a 12 ounce ribeye cooked medium rare on a sizzling hot skillet. I have to admit I was a little skeptical to have my steak show up at the table still sizzling like a fajita. I also ordered as my two sides a baked potato and a side salad. So first the side salad, which in some places would be considered a full dinner salad, showed up at the table with a mini loaf of bread. The ranch dressing was fresh probably made this morning at the restaurant. The salad had chopped onions, chopped tomatoes, cheese and croutons. The salad was chilled and delicious. The bread which appeared to be a small loaf of fresh braked baked bread, came out still warm with a giant slab of butter. Yum Onto the main course the 12 once ribeye and baked potato showed up on the sizzling skillet. First things first I took a chunk of the butter and placed it on the still hot skillet to allow my steak to marinate while the skillet cooled off. The potato was larger than I expected and perfectly cooked, steamy hot with ample butter and extra cheese. One of the best potatoes I've had in years. Onto the real reason why I ate at this restaurant, the 12 ounce ribeye. Lightly seasoned, and piping hot, the ribeye is how the ribeye showed up to my table. I cut the first bite and it was perfectly medium rare but still warm to the touch. I have to admit I was a little skeptical to have a steak in the middle of nowhere but all and all this steaks Has to rank in the top 20. Whether you live in Cambridge or in the surrounding area or traveling through make this place your dinner destination I guarantee you will not be dissatisfied read more

First things first, the food is absolutely first class. Everything we had was perfectly cooked and well seasoned. Secondly, the draft beer was ice cold, just the thing that goes amazing with a good meal. We had lunch, black and blue salad, fish and chips and zuchini. While the portions are very good, we did bring home our leftovers which I am happily noshing on now. Service was excellent and attentive. The docor and everything was outstanding. BTW, unless you aare a local or ask a local, you may not stumble across this place. It's not in a hotel parking lot or strip mall, but that makes the experience that much more interesting. We found this place in our way to Barnesville for a Friday night football game. There were 5 of us at 530 and We were seated right away. We told the waitress we only had an hour and she said she'd see what she could do. Wow. Food and service was great. We had perfectly cooked steak, juicy chicken breast and lightly breaded fried fish. I was very surprised when arriving at Central Station Steak & Ale. It's not where you would expect to find a restaurant as it is surrounded by houses and across the street from what appears to be a large warehouse. Upon entering I was greeted by a very friendly host that quickly got a booth ready for my friend and I. The service was prompt and friendly. I started with the fried mushrooms which were great! The fried mozzarella was also very well prepared. Shortly after the appetizers arrived the waitress brought a small fresh loaf of bread to the table. This bread was fantastic and had I not gotten so much other food I would have definitely asked for a second loaf! I ordered a medium-rare ribeye and it was cooked to the perfect temperature. The waitress recommended that I not get it on the sizzling hot place because it would probably cook it past my medium-rare temperature while sitting on the table. Good tip! For the sides I ordered the steak fries and mac and cheese. Both were fine but nothing out of the ordinary. The only reason I didn't give this meal five stars is because I feel the steak was a bit under seasoned. This was easily fixed by adding a bit of salt but I would have liked to have seen it seasoned more before cooking. All in all a great experience and when I'm back in the area I'm sure I'll be returning! read more

What a nice little spot my wife found for us to dine in via Yelp before attending my son's football game vs Muskingum College. Staff was friendly and our waitress was also very friendly and efficient. Ice cold beer served while we looked over the menu. Appetizers ordered were Bavarian pretzel sticks served with honey mustard and house made beer cheese ($2 upcharge) and fried mozzarella shaped like half moons. Both were excellent and the beer cheese worth the upcharge. I decided on the build your own burger option. I went with the steak burger for the protein but had options of chicken cutlet, bison or sliced prime rib to choose from as well. Had it topped with cheddar, bacon, sauteed mushrooms, sauteed onions, lettuce, tomato and pickles. Not thinking, I should have decided on the Swiss considering the toppings I chose but oh well. This burger was stellar. Cooked to my liking of medium and the juice just dripped from the burger making every bite delicious. I failed miserably with taking photos though. It was my son's girlfriends 18th birthday and our waitress allowed her mom to bring in a cookie cake and even provided us with utensils to serve/eat it after we sang Happy Birthday to her. So this just added to our great dining experience and we offered our waitress a piece of cake to which she happily accepted. Just a nice time from start to finish. Recommend a visit. read more

This is our second time eating at this establishment while traveling through Cambridge. Food and Service was great. Shelby was our server and she was so kind and friendly. She made suggestions as to food when we asked questions. For a Monday night they were definitely busy. My only disappointment was that they no longer have Frog legs on their menu. I was so looking forward to having them as I had them last year when we came through. Being raised on them; there's nothing better. If you're staying in Cambridge look them up.
