I give it a solid 4. The atmosphere is really nice. There are 3 different seating areas. One is right outside. They have some picnic tables there, but sadly they're poorly designed so they don't fit many people. They have a sort of outdoors area and then an indoors area. The service was ok, but there weren't an overwhelming number of servers running around. The food was the good and bad and it cost them a star here. The menu is too big. It should be condensed. The serving sizes were also too small. I got one of the plates and I could easily have eaten 2 of them. That's sad given that the taste and texture was really good. Someone clearly put some thought into it. This is a great place to hang out. I hope the owners bump up the portion sizes though. read more

3.5 STARS We frequent this place a lot, as it's a 5 minute drive from where we live. Luckily, we've always lucked out on their limited parking out front, so can't complain about that. As many other reviewers have already mentioned, this place is good for a quick Mexican bite, but it's nothing stellar. I've tried all the tacos, and while they're all delicious, I feel like they can be a hit or miss sometimes. Sometimes they're the epitome of the simple taco you can get from the best mom and pop food trucks and other times the meat is overcooked, or the portions of meat to other filling (pico de gallo or cabbage slaw) is way off. The queso fundito is amazing. If you're not watching calories or your cholesterol, get it with the chorizo. It's heaven. And the burger or steak salad are always excellent choices as well. They have quite an impressive beer list, and during the summer the outside seating is choice. The service can be a little slow sometimes, especially when it doesn't seem like they're *that* busy. We like this place enough to pop in when we're looking for a no-fuss meal, so would recommend that people try it at least! read more

Very cool feeling place and the menu has some good sounding items. We went there on a Saturday morning. The place was pretty empty, but it still took 15 minutes to order. We were by the kitchen and could see our orders in the window for about 10 minutes before they were picked up. Needless to say, the food was luke warm. We told our server. He took the dishes back and they had obviously been microwaved. My sunny side up eggs turned into hard yolk eggs. Terrible service. read more

This place has a great outdoor patio that is also dog friendly! I don't believe that the inside is dog friendly, space wise I think it'd be a little tight to have furry friends laying on the floor. The food is good, had the chicken sandwich as I wanted something on the lighter side. I always enjoy their tortilla chips with salsa or bean dip. The beer selection is usually decent. I can always find something that I'll like. Depending on the sports season, this place can get PACKED. read more

Went to the Yard today 2/4 around 10pm for a friend's birthday and had possibly the worst service ever. I work at a restaurant and was extremely disappointed with how rude our server was. My friend asked to split a bill and the server refused because she said it was "just two beers." I would love for a manager to contact me because that was unacceptable. I don't know if the rudeness was due to the group being of foreign origin or not, either way extremely disappointed with the lack of professionalism displayed by our waitress. read more

Went to watch the Sounders match and friends of the bartender sat right in my view of match. Had to move just to get a good view of the match. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Seattle. I find myself coming here again and again, each time getting the same things + typically one new item to try out that looks or smells good. Their a la carte tacos are incredible (they're all good, but my personal fave is the chile verde pork), the guac and chips dank, chipotle orange salad delicious, and the newest item to try tonight was the Cardini salad (if you like intense garlic + ceasar salads, then this is your jam). More so, the real draw for me is the rotating craft beer selections. They have 18 taps that are continually allowing me to enjoy and explore regional beers (Kolsch, sours, farmhouse, ciders, porters, stouts, IPAs, reds, browns-they carry the full assortment of what there is to offer). Additionally, they carry a solid scotch selection and also have really good french press coffee (which is also two of my staples there). read more

Great space, (nicely socially distanced tables) but service needs to improve. We were a party of 3 and were seated promptly. We were also told upon seating that tables were limited to 90 mins. We ordered: queso and chips, 1 burger, 2 tacos and 1 drink. It took 50 minutes for our food to arrive. I asked our server for a side of pico to go with my now soggy tacos, which cost $5.00 each and the server forgot and I had to ask again. Funny enough, our bill came quickly. Good thing too, because we were about to go over the 90mins at our table. The house made chips were great but I'm not sure we'll be back. We were in search of a breakfast place on a Sunday morning just before 10am. Even though others had told me that The Yard was just "so so," I decided to still give it a shot......which was a waste of time! When we walked in, the place was empty, so we weren't sure if they were open, even though the sandwich sign on the sidewalk clearly said "open." We waited for a couple minutes, but nobody came out to greet us. We thought maybe we had come in the wrong entrance, so we went to see if there was another door. We went back in (through the same door) and a guy came out carrying a few wine bottles. No greeting, just a grumble as he walked back towards the back room. I think he might have said something about sitting anywhere. With that warm (not) welcome, why would anyone want to stay!!! Maybe that's why the place was empty! Needless to say, I should have listened to my friends. I was willing to give The Yard a chance, but that will never happen :-( read more

Great Mexican food that is a little pricy for what it is but hey, it's Seattle. Your food is great but just a few tips. 1.put ice in your water. It is gross tap water that is warm and could use some ice 2. Don't charge extra for cheese and bacon on your burgers. It's cheap 3. Don't charge $16 or 14$ for dishes like your sopes. Three words: Om Nom Nom. Delicious. The two of us ordered three food items off of the happy hour menu and 4 drinks and totalled less than $50. Drinks were... adventurous, but the food was unique, flavor packed, and fun. We especially enjoyed, and highly recommend, the Sope. It is a dish that is of its own ranking and should be enjoyed by any food enthusiast: rich, salsa drenched pork on fluffy corn. We'll certainly return for another happy hour soon. read more

I've been to The Yard several times. The patio is awesome (and it's dog friendly!). The interior is dark and cozy. They have some good craft beers on tap. Cocktails are expensive and food is okay. I'm vegetarian and they have a few basic options. Service was good the first couple times but extremely mediocre the last. I'm pretty sure our server either hated us or hated herself - she never once smiled and would nod and walk off without saying anything if we ordered something additional. read more

I am definitely not an overtly-critical person, but felt compelled to write a review after my brunch experience today. I knew more about the beer menu than the waiter did; nice enough guy but had a super disheveled appearance and clearly no one had given him any training on the new Sierra Nevada collaborations on draft. My chilequiles were ok, for $8 a pretty good value but fairly bland and mushy. The tortilla triangles are supposed to be lightly fried and a little crispy...definitely not this batch. Last time I was there, the bartender barely said hello much less attempted to spark up any conversation; was either super unhappy to be there or my friend and I looked unappealing...who knows. I live down the street so I'm sure I'll be back and hope to have better experiences, it will not be a go-to spot however. read more

SO disappointed in our experience this past Sunday night! The Yard has been a signature spot for my boyfriend and i to grab a drink or enjoy a good meal (the bbq chicken salad is our go to!) So much so, that we decided it was the place to take my parent's to during their visit this weekend. I love a good Red/Amber beer. So when i saw that there was a beer on the menu that was labeled that, i was quick to order. There wasn't any description of the beer, but because of my love for Red's i didn't think it would be anything aside from what i was used to. Needless to say when the drink came, and unfortunately it tasted like it was infused by straight vinegar! I took one sip and knew even if i wanted to, i couldn't suck it down. So as soon as i saw the waiter over by himself by a the computer i wandered over (to avoid making a fuss at the table) and told him i wasn't aware the beer would taste this potent and asked if i could exchange it for a pilsner (which is always a safe bet). His immediate response was snarky and "Oh i can get you another beer, but you'll still have to pay for this. We are a small independently owned restaurant, so we don't take beers back." I was floored. If you're a neighborhood establishment, wouldn't you want to take care of your community? It's a frickin beer! To top it off with our experience, a dad wandered in with his 3 year old daughter and sat down at the table next to us. They were obviously having a father/daughter outing. He gets her settled and pulls out a peanut butter and jelly sandwich to keep her happy and content. She saw quietly and ate her small sandwich as her dad began to look over the menu for himself. Just moments later a waiter came over and said they couldn't have outside food in the restaurant. I'm sorry, WHAT. Is there even a kids menu at The Yard? This is absurd. Of course, rightfully so, the dad and daughter left, UPSET, claiming never to return. The ownership of this place needs to sit their staff down and have a little come to Jesus chat about their demeanor, attitudes, and interaction with the public and community. It's hard for me to say i'll be back, and will spread the word about our experience. read more

I rarely give out a 1-star rating and it isn't like me to base a poor rating solely on the service, but today was an exception. Let me start from the beginning... - The "yard" cafe has an appealing outside eating area with picnic tables and it was what made us stop on the way home from running errands. We first headed inside because there was a slight chill in the air, but the inside was so dark that we decided to head into the yard. - Once outside the waitress dropped off one (1) menu for the two of us to share while sitting on opposite sides of the picnic table. - The waitress came back to take our order which included: chips and salsa, and two tacos each. And then we waited, and waited, and waited. About 30 minutes later, four tacos arrived, each with luke-warm meat and no chips and salsa! When we asked the waitress about them , she made her first mistake and said, "hmmm I don't know what happened to them?" - We waited a few minutes to see if the chips and salsa were coming out...no sight of them so we started eating our tacos. - 5 minutes later--When are tacos were halfway done, the waitress came by to say that there was a mixup and our chips and salsa were on the way. The hubs decided he was still hungry and ordered more tacos and some red rice. - 5 minutes later--Now our plates are empty and my husband sees chips and salsa coming out of the kitchen...they made a sharp turn and ended up on the table next to us?! The hubs promptly asked the waitress about the chips and salsa, and the reply was something like "oh, those were their order, yours should be out soon!" - Well, that was the last straw, 40 minutes and only four tacos...we informed the waitress that we would pay for our four tacos... and then we left. To add insult to injury...I spotted chips and salsa sitting in the service window...and we still weren't offered them! Don't be fooled by the picnic tables and the word "cafe" in their name... they are a bar. The first clue should have been when they asked for our credit card to start a tab. read more

My friend and I live in the neighborhood and thought it would be a great idea to walk up to the Yard Café, sit out on the patio and drink/dine in the beautiful Seattle weather we have been enjoying. We were able to get a seat quickly on the patio which was a surprise because the place was packed indoors and out. The reason I am giving this place one star is the service. We sat outside, along with the entire packed patio and witnessed that almost everyone either didn't get their food, or the waiters couldn't remember who ordered what and were consistently serving the wrong entrees to the wrong people. The worst part however, the majority of us on the patio never received our food. My friend and I waited two hours for our dinner which never came. She nicely asked the waiter to check on our order, he replied, "I can't, this place is fucked!" The whole experience was disappointing and highly chaotic for all of us. We ended up buying dinner at the grocery store on our way home, I don't think we will be returning. There are so many wonderful restaurants and bars with great food and service in the neighborhood, why would we ever want to return.... read more

Love The Yard. The guacamole and homemade tortilla chips are delicious. You should also get the orange salad and adobada torta. Both are excellent. On summer days the patio is one of the best in Seattle. I didn't give 5 stars, because like many places in Seattle they are part of the scourge of having like 20 IPAs and only 1 or 2 other beers. read more

I originally went to this place pre corona and it was great. From good food, service and drinks I was very pleased. So when I saw the had take out I thought we would try it but we're extremely disappointed. The food was practically inedible. I spent 50$ for trash. Tacos and fries were so soggy It would make you gag. The online posted hours said they would be open, then person I talked to should have warned me that they were minutes from closing due to reduced corona hours. I would have rather had an update then be served/ paid for garbage. I don't know if I'll come back after restaurants open, if that's how the restaurant and staff operate then maybe try somewhere else. read more

I freaking love this bar! Their food is good, simple and understated which is a refreshing change of pace. The decor is epic, I love sitting at the long enclosed table in the back with a big group of friends or out on the terrace when the weather is nice enough. The bartenders I've had have always been super sweet, helpfull and just plain nice. I'm gonna keep this review short and sweet and just say that it's one of the best additions to Greenwood in the last few years. Great for groups and if you like good beer or in my case crisp ciders it's a good place to hit up on the north end. read more

This is one of my favorites on Greenwood Ave. Great outdoor setting with picnic tables, lit by globe lights in the evening. Indoor bar area has partial open air space and built in booths for larger groups. I haven't had one thing on the menu that wasn't delicious. Their beer/cider selection is rotating and their cocktails are quite tasty too. No reservations or host so If you're meeting there with a larger group, be prepared to wait and scope out tables. read more

The Yard doesn't officially open until the 29th, but they're up and running now, with just beer (liquor to come) and a limited food menu. The food looks good (mexican themed) but I didn't sample it myself. The decor is pretty sweet, with a nice huge... um... Yard, as well as a covered/heated deck, and a surprisingly large interior. I am amazed by how many things are wrong about this place. Horrible, almost non-existent service, lame, lazy, unknowledgeable, way too hip bartenders, incredibly bad mixed drinks ( you gotta be bad to screw up a Margarita). Food was passable but not worth the 30 minute wait (for chips/salsa). Do yourself a favor and go across the street and see Rene at the Pig and Whistle. He is everything the bartenders at the Yard are not. The picnic tables are OK. read more
