I came in here after eating lunch next door at tangerine and opted to have dessert. Their OMG brownie with gelato is good. REALLY SWEET though. My brownie was topped with the Tahiti Vanilla gelato. I swear I wish I had a glass of milk when I ate this. I had my fill after half the brownie and scoop of gelato ice cream but I didn't want to waste my $5.50 cents of sweet goodness. So I finished the dessert and then felt disgusting from having too many sweets for the day. If you're going to try the brownie, I suggest bringing milk. It was just too sweet in the end for me. Damn, now that I"ve discovered this jewel of a chocolate shop, I am definitely going to have to get the next size up in pants. What a joyous treat to stumble upon this while my partner and I were out on Solano looking for dinner. I am a chocolate snob and I can tell you this is some of the best I've had. Plus they use organic ingredients and they take care of the vegans among us - how cool is that. We also shared a salted caramel gelato - divine. The Marin folks who make this gelato start with a Strauss Creamery base - which pretty much guarantees it's going to be excellent. This place is too fun!! Most choices are vegan (and therefore dark chocolate) which is nice for those of us who cannot do dairy. Plus vegan sweets always seem richer and the flavor more pure in my opinion. I got a box of bon bons for $12, an OMG bar and a chocolate coconut marshmallow totaling $19. They have sipping chocolate (at least stop by for a sample!) for $4 small or $8 "large" (can only get so large with sipping chocolate). In my bon bon box I got... Dark chocolate truffle...haven't tried it yet The Buddha...mango and tamarind filled....YUUUUUM!!! Coconut...meh nothing special Chile organe...havent tried yet Peanut butter...haven't tried yet Lavender...also yum!! The OMG bar's name fits perfectly. It is a soft caramel with almonds and sea salt. Perfection in bar form. The marshmallow could have been skipped, maybe next time I will try the caramel marshmallow instead. Some people say staff isn't friendly...the woman who helped me was not overly enthusiastic (maybe she is just an introvert). However, she was helpful in suggesting what the popular items are so I was pleased with that. A great chocolate boutique with friendly staff and delicious truffles. The white chocolate pomegranate is insanely good--the perfect combination of too much sugar and too much sour, each canceling out some of the other for a final verdict of just the right amount of sweet and sour. The original hot chocolate is rich and thick--so thick it's almost solid. I was disappointed to learn they didn't serve lavender hot chocolate anymore, though. read more

This place has really beautiful and delicious chocolates. I am not sure how they make their chocolates and truffles so pretty, but they really are just that. Also, they have excellent gelato and the richest sipping chocolate that I have ever had. The staff here is always friendly patient and helpful. If you're in to chocolate, this is the place for you! They had beautifully made chocolates that were almost too pretty to eat. Chocolates in various shapes and dustings. Xocolate also had many chocolate covered fruits and marshmellows. My cousin and I opted to try the drinking chocolate. $2.50 for a 4oz shot, and $4 for an 8oz cup. We got the cup and asked for 2 small cups so we could split it 4 ways- and I'm glad we did. It was SWEET. I'm a fan of chocolate, but it took me a while to finish my small portion. It was a dark chocolate and slightly bitter but very good. A specialty shop for sure, and great if you are a real chocolate lover! read more

After brunch w/ some family friends at King Tsin, it was cold and rainy but we were drawn to this store by the gelato offerings for our dessert. Gelato on a cold rainy day you say? Crazy? Perhaps not so when you're talking to a preggy lady. The shop is small, but we managed to squeeze in 6 adults and 3 kids into this cozy and beautiful chocolate shop (YES! Even the preggy lady fit!) We all had different flavors of Gelato, all very good and delightful (made in a shop in Mill Valley, but still very good) While we were eating in this cozy little shop, we all couldn't help but notice the curiously beautiful colors and curiouser ingredients of the organic chocolate offerings. Not only did they offer simple bites, but sculptured works that would make for affordable gifts for the chocolate lover in your life. We were full of Gelato and had no room for the Chocolates, but I will be back.... Alas, we were rewarded some free samples of their famous "Sipping Chocolat" which is like an espresso version of a hot chocolate. Ahhhhhhhhh.... it was like a very surreal Through the Looking glass kind of place with all these curious samplings to take one to the other side... A nice respite and excuse for a "treat". read more

Finally went in there but it was after dinner, so all we could fit in our stomachs was some gelato. Got a tasting of the meyer lemon but it was a bit too tart for us. I love chocolate! This place is fun to check out but kinda pricey. You WILL find something you HAVE to try just because the selection is unusual... violet, bacon, salted, whatever you can think of. The gianduja (hazelnut) wasn't as strongly flavored as I expected, but was still good. The irish cream tasted way too strongly of alcohol (the alcoholic beverage doesn't taste of it that strongly) - which is a common problem for me with truffles like that, but the lady hadn't tried that one yet and couldn't warn me. :/ The chili caramel I couldn't taste the caramel part. The lemon cream was fine, the espresso was good. The pomegranate was fine. The cardamom was fine. The peanut butter one was so so. The nut barks were good, but nothing too special. The OMG bar was the best of what we had (it was really good!), though all the the truffles were beautiful - love the shimmery colors on them. Some of centers were a bit more liquidy than I personally prefer, mostly the fruity ones. The sipping chocolate had good texture, but the flavor wasn't as rich as the one I fell in love with in Savannah, GA. I do want to go back and try more of their bars. read more

Every year at Rakkasah West, a major bellydance festival, I stop at their table (where they also sell jewelry) to buy at least four of the cardamom crunch bar, and any number of truffles/bonbons that call me. There's literally no other place like it in this area, the boxes of truffles and the sipping chocolate are my two favorite things. The decor recently changed up with some really cute additions and there are new shapes and flavors that I haven't seen before in the display. A perfect after-dinner treat, given all the great restaurants on Solano. They hand-make their own chocolates, and I think the guy serving up gelato and ringing up customers actually is the chocolatier. Pretty awesome. All the chocolates in the case looked great, the guy even told us when they were made and how fresh they were. I had a cranberry cream morsel, and it was amazing. It had a soft and fresh cream center (think fresh Belgians like Leonidas) with amazing dark chocolate outside. Expensive, yes, but good chocolates are. Think of them like wine. In fact, I think I'd rather show up to a dinner party armed with a dozen chocolates from Xocolate Bar than a bottle of wine! read more

Stopped in here after some Chinese food and let me tell you...what a combo..dairy with some MSG. But really folks...who doesn't like gelato? Very yummy stuff! I'm not a hardcore connoisseur, but I'd call myself picky about chocolate - I notice the difference. These guys make great products. My favorite is a really simple, clever product that have called "sipping chocolate". Just a small cup is all it takes. It's intense but not bitter, sweet but not overly so. Amazing! I drove by over the weekend and did a double take. They replaced my favorite take out sushi bar. But, I'll forgive them! They have ORGANIC gelato that is simply to die for. I had a scoop of their cardamom and honey-vanilla gelatos, and will be back for more. They change their flavors every week, and each batch is hand made by a gelato artist in San Francisco.
