Le Bánh Patisserie - Adorable

Le Bánh Patisserie

I recently visited Le Banh Patisserie for the second time, and once again found myself overwhelmed…read moreby the quality of the baked goods within. I find that most bakeries drown their flavors in sugar, glazes, and frosting, while the pastries offered at Le Banh Patisserie deliver the perfect balance of taste and texture without being cloyingly sweet. If you are a fan of crossaints, you owe it to yourself to give these a try - they are golden and flaky on the outside with an incredibly buttery and airy center, and baked to perfection. Whether you choose the almond, chocolate, or classic butter, I guarantee you won't be disappointed, and will likely feel as if you just stepped out of a Parisian café. The scones are equally delightful with a crisp exterior while remaining soft and moist in the middle, and abounding in flavor. Also, be sure to grab a Doodle cookie (or two) before you go, and give the Vietnamese coffee a try - you'll be glad you did. Above all else, the owner/baker is one of the friendliest and most personable people you are likely to meet, and I could have spent the entire afternoon talking with her. After complimenting her on the quality of her treats and contemplating the lack of decent bakeries in the area, she was generous enough to recommend other establishments which she thought would be worth trying. In addition, after telling her I would love to possess her skill, she encouraged me to give it a try and even gave me a few resources with which to begin my baking journey. Overall, I can highly recommend this hidden gem as perhaps the finest confectionary I have ever had the good fortune to stumble across, and would honestly suggest to anyone that they would be doing themselves an incredible disservice by failing to stop in one afternoon and give Le Banh Patisserie a try

I really wanted to have a great experience with this bakery, especially since this was our wedding…read morecake. The cake itself was beautiful, but unfortunately that's where our positive experience ended. We ordered a lemon cake, and when we cut into it at our wedding, there was absolutely no lemon flavor and the cake was extremely dry. My husband and every guest who tried it said the same thing. No one even knew it was supposed to be lemon until I told them. It was also the only dessert we served, which made it even more disappointing. I reached out afterward hoping the owner would at least acknowledge that something may have gone wrong. Instead, I was repeatedly told that she knew the cake was made correctly and that she had personally tasted everything. I was offered a discount on a future cake, which honestly didn't feel like much of a resolution after being so disappointed with our wedding cake. What bothered me most was how the situation was handled. As a small business owner myself, I understand that things can go wrong. I wasn't expecting perfection I was hoping for some accountability and an effort to make things right. I sent one final email explaining how disappointed I was and never received a response. The cake looked beautiful, but unfortunately the taste and the customer service afterward left us extremely disappointed.

Madrid European Bakery is an excellent spot in Barrington for wonderful European cakes and…read morepastries. Everything in their display case looked enticing, and staff was friendly and patient as we asked what the individual pastries were, as many had delectable creams or fillings of various flavors. They also serve up ice cream, cookies, and coffee/caffeinated drinks. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, which gives off wonderful local cafe vibes. The parking lot is a bit tricky as there's only a one lane entry/exit, so could result in accidents if you and other drivers aren't careful in paying attention. We tried a Santiago orange-chocolate cake slice, an almond croissant, a chocolate chip cookie, and a selection of their 5 mini pastries. These baked treats (5/5) were all excellent in terms of quality, with delicious and satisfying flavors which we really liked. They use fresh and high quality ingredients, so while prices aren't cheap, they are reasonably in line for the quality of baked goods you're purchasing. We also ordered a cappuccino (4/5) which was beautifully presented, but wasn't our favorite among area coffee shops, but still an excellent accompaniment to enjoy their baked goods. We'll definitely be back and would recommend Madrid European Bakery and Patisserie to others. Their list of ice cream flavors looked unique and intriguing, so that only creates a dilemma of which sweet treats you choose to indulge yourself in when visiting.

Euro Madrid Review This spot is a hidden gem for dessert…read morelovers. I came specifically to try the crème brûlée ice cream after hearing about it--and it did not disappoint. The photo I took doesn't even come close to capturing how rich and indulgent it truly is. What really stood out, though, was the cake: a heavenly mix of crème brûlée and chocolate mousse that's unlike anything I've found elsewhere. Each bite was smooth, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. Euro Madrid is definitely worth a visit if you're in the mood for something sweet and unique.

"There was a girl in Portland Before the winter chill…read moreWe used to go a-courtin' Along October hill" (Johnny Cash) We stopped in a few days ago and were very impressed by October Kitchen's variety, price, value, service, and most importantly, the quality of their foods, When you walk in you'll see a big menu board with today's listings, a freezer case and a refrigerated case loaded up with the foods. This made it pretty easy for us to review the menu and zero in on what we wanted, which was four items. Our server Anca was very pleasant and professional, and enhanced our entire consumer experience. We went with a small container of freshly made egg salad, a small container of grilled shrimp ($5), Meatballs with rice and vegetables ($13), and a frozen eggplant lasagna ($9). The egg salad was very good. Just egg and Light Hellman's Mayo and nothing else. It was a pretty much perfect batch, and a good convenient value at $5. The shelled "tail-on" grilled shrimp were five large nicely seasoned pieces that were delicious. We split the Asian Meatballs dish for dinner tonight. It was a big 19-ounce container with three Asian meatballs, rice, broccoli florets, and julienned carrots, squash, zucchini and scallions. A half portion was plentiful, the meatballs were excellent, and the sweet chili sauce added a zippy finishing touch. If the eggplant lasagna is half as good as the meatball dish, I'd be very happy. Some of the other intriguing listings we saw on their menu were Balsamic Shredded Beef, Turkey Cutlets with Fontina, Garlic Parmesan Flounder, Spanish Rice with Chicken & Shrimp, soups, salads, and desserts. Definitely worth your while to stop in and check out their grab and go goods.

It was Angel hair pasta, chicken and spinach. The sauce was beige in color but definitely not the tang of lemon and it didn't contain capers. If you have ever had this dish in a restaurant, you would not recognize this dish as the same.
