This made it pretty easy for us to review the menu and zero in on what we wanted, which was four items. Our server Anca was very pleasant and professional, and enhanced our entire consumer experience. We went with a small container of freshly made egg salad, a small container of grilled shrimp ($5), Meatballs with rice and vegetables ($13), and a frozen eggplant lasagna ($9). The egg salad was very good. Just egg and Light Hellman's Mayo and nothing else. It was a pretty much perfect batch, and a good convenient value at $5. The shelled "tail-on" grilled shrimp were five large nicely seasoned pieces that were delicious. We split the Asian Meatballs dish for dinner tonight. It was a big 19-ounce container with three Asian meatballs, rice, broccoli florets, and julienned carrots, squash, zucchini and scallions. A half portion was plentiful, the meatballs were excellent, and the sweet chili sauce added a zippy finishing touch. If the eggplant lasagna is half as good as the meatball dish, I'd be very happy. Some of the other intriguing listings we saw on their menu were Balsamic Shredded Beef, Turkey Cutlets with Fontina, Garlic Parmesan Flounder, Spanish Rice with Chicken & Shrimp, soups, salads, and desserts. A friend recommended we check out October Kitchen as a way to help us feed an elderly parent who just moved in with us (in-law apartment). This is such a great option to have in the freezer, when I know I won't be able to cook I can drop one of these flash frozen meals into the fridge the night before and the next day I can have it ready in minutes. My father in law is a rather picky eater, but he absolutely loves the meatloaf, pot roast and macaroni and cheese. I love that there's no commitment to a minimum number of meals, we can buy what we need, when we need it! Their prices are reasonable and the portions are perfect. We pick up our orders, but they do deliver and that charge is very reasonable. A great service we will definitely continue to use! read more

I used to really like October Kitchen but I don't know if they have some new chefs but although it's good it's just not the same in taste. Also the monthly menus always repeat with mostly the same meals in rotation and their comfort food section could use some new menu ideas. Their Mexican dishes are always good. I do appreciate their freezer sale however even though I have items in my cart for delivery there are times when they don't have it in stock when my meals are delivered which I find odd since it should be accounted for on the site. That is disappointing when I am looking forward to a particular item and it's not there. Overall the food is good and I appreciate the convenience. read more

First time at October Kitchen. Just a fabulous experience. The young woman who greeted me was so friendly and so proud and knowledgeable about the food items. I purchased shrimp and corn chowder and herb cod with spaghetti vegetable. Both items were so fresh and tasty, not over salted like many prepared items. The price was too good. First thing I want to say is that YELP SUCKS! They use a crappy algorithm to determine which reviews are "recommeded" or not. God only knows how this works because I can't get a good read on any business using their system. That being said we have been with October Kitchen for over 4 years. That in itself should tell you something. We order essentially every week we are home. The meals are excellent, tasty and wholesome. The menu changes, but there are specials that we look forward to like Candy Cane blondies, mango muffins, stuffed peppers, tortilla lasagne, eggplant anything, pulled pork. I love everything. We also stash meals in the freezer, and take them into work for lunch. The food is not over salted, so you can salt to your taste. Worth a try, especially for a busy household with kids! read more

I used this service for 9 months straight when my job was on overload with lots of overtime and a husband who just doesn't cook but can reheat. Loved the ordering, the food and the delivery!! The food variety was terrific and everything was tasty. My favorites were the salmon meals and the stews. October Kitchen is truly is a wonderful place, and their staff - especially Stephanie, represents them well. I needed a food care package delivered to someone who just had a death in their family and the women I talked to at the restaurant couldn't have been nicer. They went out of their way to include a note card and ice blanket just in case the recipient wasn't home. And the food sounds delicious! They even had breakfast muffins and cookies besides cake and pie. I couldn't be more impressed as they called me when the food was picked up and I already have an email copy of my receipt. Started this service after coming home after a long hospitalization. Their info was given to me by my home nursing service so I called. Very impressed with the prices the variety offered and the lady on phone. Called back next day with my order and never looked back. Someone told me of this place for meals for my Senior Citizen mom. We went in to check it out. There were like 4 other people there and the sales area is very, very small. A good selection of meals but somewhat pricey . $7.50 for a one person dinner. $15, for bigger meals,. I took a chance and bought the Shepard's pie. When I went to eat it , it was very dry . This place has been a godsend. So many reasons this works for me: 1. I recently lost 40 lbs (juice fasting ) and needed a way to eat good healthy well balanced meals. I have not gained a pound since finding October kitchen meals. 2. Price: I don't like to cook and sometimes I don't have time. So often I would do fast food or eat out to avoid fast food. Well the fast food while slightly cheaper left me hungry because it was devoid of nutrition and the eating out kept me eating more and in the poor house. 3. Variety : while I have my favorites (tomato pie is the best!) I have not had this variety at home in years (probably never). 4. Portion control: the single meals are the perfect size for me. I don't over eat and at under 500 calories it's perfect. 5. Healthy: meals are tasty and many are gluten free. Not eating bread and gluten has certainly been helpful in maintaining my weight loss and has also given me energy to power through workouts. 6. Great customer service! Everyone is so helpful and happy. I tend to want happy people cooking my food. :-) I could go on but I won't. Truth is, I don't like every meal I've tried but i have taken a lot of risk trying foods i never had so that's completely understandable. Some foods you may not like. I had been buying the potluck for several months. I react to MSG. It causes serious heart arrhythmia and severe headache. I ate half of one stir fry dish and was extremely ill from MSG. I was lucky I only ate half or I would have been in the hospital. I threw out the other stir fry dish that I had. I called to tell October Kitchen about my experience. I was told that Tamari soy sauce had been used. I was told to be more careful, because the website did say "soy" was in the meal. I was not happy. First, MSG is not "soy." MSG is not found in traditionally processed soy foods. It is not found in Edensoy or any Eden brand traditional soy product. Free glutamic acid or MSG is formed as a result of alkaline processing techniques using hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, and caustic soda, also known as sodium hydroxide or lye. This process is referred to as hydrolysis. It involves boiling of soy or other protein containing foods in large vats with acid and then neutralizing it with caustic soda. When protein-containing foods are processed using hydrolysis it frees amino acids and if strong alkalines are used, it produces free glutamic acid or MSG. Japanese Tamari is very high in free glutamates. This stuff is the puddle left over from making miso. So, don't just say "soy," say "soy sauce" or more particularly "tamari soy sauce." How about an even more clear "may contain MSG"? Second, thank you for telling me I should be more careful when ordering from your website. I tolerate ordinary soy products very well. I did not have a soy allergy. I react to MSG. I was insulted. Third, they should have at least offered to replace the meals, said they would tell the chef or to even show some concern. In the future, I will be more careful and not take any chances. I will not be returning customer. read more

The food was good and the convenience can't be beat. I've dealt with two people there and one person was over the top friendly and willing to help. The other person was helpful but didn't seem to care as much. The website is not user friendly. Despite trying to follow the directions on the page I ended up with the wrong order.
