Bagels aren't that good and coffee is served from a pump and it's green mountain not local roast or their own. No atmosphere. Haven't been there in while. Last time I was there a girl who was covered in tattoos and tattoos all over her arms and hand and was very rude and I was later told she had an OnlyFans by another customer who I was chatting with. He said she was a local and that it was well known she " modeled" for multiple sights. He said he knew her father who he said had sued the city of Portsmouth multiple times. He said her mother had been arrested for theft of methadone patches and credit cards and her brother was a junkie. I'd rather not be served by someone like that and bagel was not so great. Great place for lunch/brunch! I went a few weeks ago and got delicious mac&cheese and the hummus wrap. I was disappointed that the wrap wasn't as described online - no sprouts, no cucumber. Got the super chicken panini. Hands down one of the best and most satisfying paninis out there. I was too hungry/excited and forgot to take a picture of the sandwich before eating it. Worth every penny though (around $9 with tax). Also got the kale Caesar salad and sunrise smoothie. Kale salad gets a 2.5/5. Thought the salad dressing was too garlicky and there was not enough to detesting to cover the whole salad. I felt like I was just eating bitter leaves for the most part. Just didn't have that satisfying Caesar salad taste which was disappointing. Sunrise smoothie gets a 3/5: it was an average smoothie. I liked how it wasn't too sweet and tasted healthy with no added sugars. Atmosphere of the restaurant is great. There's plenty of seating space and areas for people to do work. There's a parking lot too so it's convienient to get to. read more

Went here for the first time and it was busy. A good sign. Not an open table in the place and it's self seating. I saw a party leaving so I grabbed their table and sat down. My family joined me and I went to the counter to ask for something to clean my table. The staff was working hard but did acknowledge me. The young woman that "helped" me looked at me like I had three heads when I asked, yet she did say she would have someone come clean the table. No one showed up so my daughter grabbed napkins, went to the bathroom and wet them in the sink and returned to clean the table. So,the food was good, the service meh, but the place was busy and it certainly looked like the owner could afford to have someone cleaning tables. I think it's pretty disgusting to expect patrons to sit at a dirty table and eat. There are so many choices for food in the area that eating at a filthy table is a deterrent. I guess college kids don't care as much but the folks footing the bills should. I will probably return, but with my own Windex! read more

Most of the time I use the app to order and then I pick up. Once in a while I get back to my office and the order is not quite the way I ordered it or the salad has the wrong dressing but the staff are always eager to resolve the issue when I reach out. read more

Something has happened to this place & its not good. Used to be our favorite. I generally order the same thing, a super cheese with ham & extra sprouts & mac n cheese for the kids. The salted bagels are now nearly inedible- too much salt where it burns your mouth. And they have been hard. Something is up with the sauce - its like plain hot mayo. And if I order extra sprouts, i should get them, right? The mac n cheese is served WAY under temperature - like a breeding ground for food poisoning. And the bathrooms? Come on - someone hasn't cleaned them in what appears to be at least a year. This place needs to get its act together. read more

This college town bagel shop is busy and could use a few more staff members; however, they are nice and everything I eat here tasted awesome. Today I ate a toasted French toast bagel with maple cream cheese. It was perfect and delicious. I drank a single shot Americano, also perfect and delicious. This food satisfies your heart, mind, and soul. The Works prides itself on fresh ingredients, and they're not saying that for show. Simple things like the lettuce on a sandwich here tastes like it was just grown in the back. I would gnaw on the raw head of lettuce that comes from here. I almost always avoid tomatoes, but at The Works, it's a delicious snack. Every item on the menu deserves its own review of praise. Works bagel, sunrise burrito, super guac melt, fresh mozzarella, turkey avocado bacon, and the dagwood. You really can't go wrong here. The variety of options is as impressive as the product. Been here a few times. Would have rated this place higher but their cream cheese is horrible today. It does not taste like cream cheese at all. It almost tastes like some solid cream product and not cream cheese. It really does not taste like cream cheese. Also asked for my bagel to be toasted and they forgot to taste my bagel. After a tour of UNH, we realized the dining halls on campus were closed. We were directed to this establishment from the employee at the school bookstore. We were starving. They offer a great selection of healthy sandwiches and soups and serve breakfast all day. We had two orders of the Green Monster and a "build your own." The Green Monster consisted of fresh carved roasted turkey, cheddar cheese, guacamole, lettuce and onion on multi grain bread. The other sandwich was turkey, cheddar, lettuce, tomato, and onion on multi grain bread. All the sandwiches were tasty and a nice change of pace from the other chain sandwich locations. The bread was fresh and the amount of meat and cheese was perfect. The location is a short stroll from campus and just off of Main Street. The prices were very reasonable and the staff was friendly. We will be back if our daughter enrolls at UNH. read more
