    Agua Fresca
    Erin T.

The food is always good and the service is fast and attentive! We got a chicken Caesar wrap and the steak tips and they were both great! We also had an "Agua Fresca" which was great as well!

Avocado Toast off brunch menu (no bleu cheese).

Food: My partner and I ordered from here the first time. We ordered from the brunch menu to go: I ordered the gluten free avocado toast (no bleu cheese) and a side of fries. My partner and I went to eat our food 10 minutes after picking it up. When I saw my avocado toast, I was more than disappointed and shocked. I paid almost $10.00 for two pieces of soggy bread with a little avocado on it, one cut up small tomato, and pickled onions (see attached photos). The fries were okay at best, they were very disappointing due to the fact that they were very soggy. Overall, I'm still hungry and disappointed over my food. Service: The person I spoke to on the phone was extremely nice and helpful, hence the two star rating instead of the one star. They were helpful with helping my partner and I navigate through the brunch menu (the online menu we were looking at hadn't been updated). They also assisted me with navigating items that were gluten free. Ambiance: N/A; ordered to go. Overall, I am disappointed with my experience food-wise. Service-wise, the person we talked to was great. Unfortunately, my partner and I probably won't be coming back.

Clark's American Bistro opened in Downtown Durham recently, formerly Young's Restaurant. I stopped in here for Sunday lunch, a good time when they were not busy yet, I was the only customer during my visit. Upon entering for dining in, temperature was taken and Covid questions were asked. The restaurant is sectioned with the full service bar area (8 beers on tap) to the right (plexiglass dividers at the bar, and long dining room area to the left and back with booths (high glass window dividers).  I was seated in a corner booth near the front window and offered a drink (I got water). I started out with a cup of Chili ($4) served with a small piece of grilled cornbread. The chili (vegan) was pretty spicy and thick & hearty which had beans (kidney, pinto, black), carrots, peppers, and tomato base. The grilled cornbread was good, not sweet. Next, the Baja Fish Tacos ($12), 2 fish tacos were comprised of lightly fried Haddock (crisp coating), chipotle aioli dressing, cabbage slaw, pico de gallo in soft grilled corn tortillas. The accompanying fries were deep fried golden and salted, hot soft texture inside, a bit greasy.  I had enough food and passed on the offer for apple pie or fried oreos for dessert. The check came of to $17.44 before tip. The food here was pretty good and the service was very attentive. The waitress checked up on me a few times and left me in peace to finish my lunch. Light music was playing over the speakers (including Fleetwood Mac) and the waitress and bartender were chatting about their extended family lives during covid times, which sounds a bit similar to a few of my friends. During this health emergency (in 2020), masks are required here, except when seated and eating and drinking. The staff here were masked.

We visited on Friday night and sat at a table as the bar seating was pretty packed. Crowd was pretty chill - a mixture of people in their 20's having drinks & apps, and then older couples/families enjoying dinner. We were happy to see Smithwicks on the draft menu, and we also got a Downeast cider with a caramel/cinnamon rim. We ordered the house made mozzarella sticks, which were ginormous, crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside, and all around delicious. We all opted with different types of burgers - sliders, fried chicken, and a pub burger. All were served with fries and were perfectly cooked. The coating on my fried chicken was crispy and flavorful. Service was awesome - our glasses were never left empty! Best of all, Dwyers has a free jukebox packed with favorites. Looking forward to coming back on our next visit to Portsmouth - we'll definitely be trying the deviled eggs, wings, and fried oreos!

I understand that it's a busy St. Paddy's weekend and they need to turn tables over and make $ but it was quite jarring and rude AND we were getting ready to order food. I enjoy this place but i won't be returning. On a President's Day Monday at 1pm, the establishment seemed at just under half occupancy. I thought I needed to wait for seating, but staff said I could pick any table and they'd head over shortly. My friend and I ordered the sausage roll ($12) and scotch egg ($13) appetizers to share, and I ordered the bangers and mash ($19) entree for myself. The sausage roll, cut up into 6 slightly larger than bite-sized pieces, consisted of flaky and buttery pastry with herbal, earthy, and slightly crumbly sausage out of its casing. Imaging homemade breakfast sausage, but less sweet and more sharp. The accompanying brown mustard provided a nice contrast, yet remained relatively mellow. It also came with a bit of field greens so I could pretend to be healthy. The scotch egg arrived as a textbook example of a softboiled egg with a yammy yolk. The outer sausage shell tasted similar to that of the sausage roll. The accompanying chili jam cut down on the savoriness just a touch; it melded tart, spiciness, and sweetness yet also remained mellow, not overpowering the egg. My entree, the bangers and mash, proved exceptional. The peas were some of the brightest, most vibrant, juicy and crisp peas I'd ever had. Each one had just a slight burst at the bite. The caramelized onions adorning the mash had been browned down a long time, like what you'd expect in French onion soup. The mash itself, made from red potatoes, tasted robust and rich without being overly dense or overly reliant on butter (not shaming butter, but these potatoes deserve to shine, not drowned out). The bangers themselves possessed crisp, taunt casings with juicy interiors. I would almost describe it as "fresh" in the same way I would describe high-quality vegetables. Weird, but I don't know how else to express this sentiment. Service was a bit slow, probably from the Monday holiday. Since it was technically a weekday, I was able to order $4.5 bud lite drafts from the happy hour menu (Mon-Fri 1-230pm). Overall, I walked away quite impressed from what was me randomly picking a place to get lunch after being at White Birch Armories at opening to beat the range wait.

The tables are superbly clean. The bathrooms are scrupulously spotless. The bar is perfectly curated and organized. A health inspector here would be sorely disappointed. Cleanest venue I've seen in a long time. The service lacked, however. Right after being ushered to our table with a beautiful outside view, the young waitress started yapping interminably on personal issues with a couple she obviously knew two tables away. We were forgotten. Finally after a good 15 minutes, one of us went to the bar to get menus. The bar waitress came out and bought us menus and gave the young lady a look.... Then the taps were out so in an Irish pub, no slow-poured Guinness. I did get it in the bottle and then had to send the waitress to get a cold glass. Lunch came. Delicious Chicken Moher and my other half a delicious Club Sandwich. Yum The lunch was very good. I would have given five stars. But the initial reception with a lackadaisical waitress tells me that although the pub may be outstanding, they need some better training for their wait staff.
