The portions are huge, too huge. The breakfast menu is creative, most dishes are named after dogs. We tried 2 breakfast skillets and left over half the food. They upsold us on a grilled blueberry muffin. It was warm but not "grilled". It would be nice if they buttered the muffin and cooked it on the grill for a bit longer. Coffee for 2 was $8. Service was excellent and I would return in warmer weather to eat outside. read more

Stopped in for brunch on our way to Portland and we're so glad we did. We ended up enjoying this brunch over the next day's breakfast hands down. I loved that they offer fried green tomatoes and skillets, stuff that's not typically available in all breakfast/brunch joints. I opted for the vegetarian sausage Beans Wallace while the hubby opted for the Sabu Burger. Both were pretty darn good. You wouldn't be able to tell that the veggie sausage was in fact vegetarian. The only thing I would do differently if I ordered my skillet again is to ask for them to prepare the home fried potatoes extra crispy. All in all, it was a really great pit stop and I highly recommend. They even had an adoption event outside with some really sweet doggies that need homes. Let me start by saying this.... This place has breakfast starters!!! - Brilliant!! Why more restaurants don't have Starters for breakfast is beyond me. So for Starters... we got the freshly grilled Blueberry Muffin, Cinnamon Roll, and Apple Cider Donu! Fantastic!! For our meals I got the Sabu - Think Double Smash Burger, add pulled pork and pickled onions and you have a party. Did I mention they have Sweet Potato Tots??!!! When a restaurant has sweet tots, it's a must side!! California Breakfast Burrito - steak, eggs and add some French !! Yes, please. The French toast - to quote Mrs. B - this is almost as good as my mom's. She never said that about my French toast!! Oh man, we chose this place because of yelp. Good choice. 4 of us went, I got the skillet Danny boy which was amazing. 2nd got the same as an omelette, which was fabulous. 3rd got shakshuka and practically licked the plate. The accompanying fried bread (that is not what they called it but indeed what it tasted like) was decadent. 4th got traditional French toast. 3 thick slices and he loved it so much. I would again order the Danny boy skillet. Doesn't taste like corned beef hash, it tastes like it is just corned beef. Very decadent. I tasted the Danny boy omelette and felt it was a bit over salted, but owner of omelette loved it nonetheless. He took half home, too. We started with 2 blueberry muffins right out of the oven for 4 of us. Almost couldn't finish them. They are big and light and very very good. Wait staff was excellent. Room was pretty loud, busy, bustling. Not a place to lounge around for sure, but we walked a bit outside after. It was REALLY great to go here. I think a big part of it, is that it seemed clear that the people who work here like the restaurant a LOT, and really like each other. I'm guessing owners and managers are nice people. I'm not just saying that cause owner is a deadhead either. Def going back there. We traveled just over an hour to go there cause of the yelp reviews. Well worth the trip. TY! read more

Amazing service, delicious food and friendly staff at this family-run breakfast spot! We had the Fat Elvis (hello sugar rush!) skillets and a blueberry muffin that was grilled and crispy on the outside but super moist on the inside. We also got a great tip from our waiter about a local pond and then lent us some inflatable tubes! We travel to the area several times a year, so we will definitely be back! read more

Wife and I each got a breakfast skillet. She said hers was just ok. Mine was underdone, vegetables were uncooked, eggs were good. Cup of bottomless weak coffee was 4 bucks. I bet other items were better served, maybe an off morning. For the price of the place I would expect better more premium ingredients as well. Ok, I'm torn on this one. The food is a strong 4 stars. Perfect quantity and quality. The vibe is great for a diner. The waitstaff is very friendly and nice. But holy crap, for a small place with only 8 tables or so, and three waitresses, you'd think they might...just might...have a clue about how to wait on tables. I was seated before two other tables. They had their food before my order was even taken. Once the order was taken, food took forever to come out. When it did come out they asked if I would like ketchup, I said yes please. Never got the ketchup. Had to ask for water. Water was never refilled. Not once during the meal did any of the three come check and see if we needed anything. But like I said, the food was great. The owners and waitstaff are just what you are looking for in a small New England town. Friendly, accommodating, and they remember your name. And then you get the food, it is amazing. Always a new special to try, but the classics are amazing. I love getting the healthy breakfast bowls, my kids love fat Elvis, and my husband gets anything with biscuits or pulled pork. We loved Fat Dog Kitchen for breakfast (ate there 2 days in a row) for several reasons. The food was SO good, the staff was friendly, the place had a real small town vibe and many regular patrons coming in for takeout and to sit down. The parings and photos of all the dogs was adorable. But, the food, though! I had to try The Fat Elvis, and was not disappointed at all. The banana was sliced thin and pan seared so the surface caramelized. Warm peanut butter and Nutella oozed from every corner of my French toast stack. It was ridiculously decadent. My husband had the Captain's French Toast, which was lighter, with whipped cream, fruity pebbles, strawberries and blueberries on top of fluffy challah French toast. We had a side of bacon which was thick cut and cooked crispy. The second day, I went back for eggs Benedict with (American) bacon and delightful hollandaise served over an enormous enough muffin that seemed to be toasted and then put on the grill after being buttered--it was the most perfectly crisp buttery English muffin I've ever had. New Hampshire knows how to toast bread to perfection, it's no joke! I'm sure we'll be back the next time we pass through town. read more

The BEST breakfast destination ever! Always receive excellent service (kudos to all the super friendly and helpful servers), and the food is amazing (the super-talented chefs create masterpieces that are ALWAYS perfect). The Wake Up Quesadilla is my all-time favorite. But the Big Damn Burrito is a close 2nd. Love that the breakfast items include so many creative dishes you wouldn't find at other restaurants. This restaurant was recommended to us by friends of ours. It was excellent. The service, the food, and ambiance. It's a small restaurant but very homey. All of the staff work very well together. We did have to sit outside for a little bit to wait for our table. They had hot coffee outside. We didn't have to wait that long (10 minutes). Once we were seated, someone came right over to us to see if we wanted anything to drink. We tried their blueberry muffins and they are delicious. read more

This business moved to a place that is twice as big as the old one, but they did not hire more staff. So now it takes way too long to get your food. We've been to the new place a few times, thinking we would give it another chance, but it was frustrating every single time! Sometimes it even takes several minutes for them to go to your table the first time to ask you what you want to drink! If you move to a bigger place and seat twice as many people, you need to hire more wait staff and kitchen staff to keep up! read more

First time here. Great reviews so we'd figure we'd come up to try. First food was great! We weren't diss appointed with that. From the Captains French toast to corn beef hash, even the coffee was great. I gave three stars because the service was very lacking. Maybe it was because we were in a corner but having a toddler we were surprised the amount of attention that the two other toddler families got vs us. Order was missing two items which we had them take off when the check came, we asked for extra napkin (which didn't come), only had 1 coffee refill, and our waitress after taking our order never came back to check on us (had to flag one of the other waitresses down to check us out). We went to the new location for breakfast. We are extremely disappointed in our experience. It took 20 minutes to get our order taken and another twenty minutes to get our food. All would have been forgiven except when we did get our food it was stone cold. The owner took one of our meals off the bill with no apology for the service or the food. We spoke to several of the customers after we left and no one was happy. Too bad as the food used to be good as well as the service. We will not be back. read more

I really need to visit Dover more often. I had an amazing breakfast here and then the best iced tea drink I've ever had a few doors up at Flight Coffee. In fact, the downtown looked pretty cool. Our waitress was so nice. She even helped us rearrange chairs so we had a bit more room at our table (my dining partner for unknown reasons picked the smallest free table in a corner of the room, sheesh!). The decor is so fun. Definitely check out the bathroom and the posters in there which are very cool and vintage. The menu is huge. We decided to go with breakfast choices but the lunch options looked yummy as well. My partner got the Tasha which was smoked salmon, an extremely yummy cream cheese and capers on a bagel. He snarfed it down and loved it. I ordered the Danny Boy burrito and wow, just wow. It was huge. We joined forces and were only able to eat half of it. It was packed with brisket, potatoes, tomatoes and egg. I have to add that I loved his home fries and the potatoes used in the burrito - both tasted slightly different and appropriate for the meal they came with. I only scraped off the onions on top (sorry!) but my partner liked them so they didn't go to waste. Prices for both breakfast meals were more than reasonable. I'm still in shock at how huge that burrito was and how tasty! I can't wait to go back! read more
