The winery uses California grapes and other, locally-sourced fruits and traditional winemaking techniques to produce small-batch, handcrafted wines. They sell their wines through their website, at a couple local businesses, and at some farmers markets and festivals. I first encountered Mingo Creek Cellars several months ago when the owner, who is one of the very best review writers on Yelp, kindly gifted me a bottle of sangria. As he released more wines, I had to try more! In recent months, I purchased three other wines: Blushberry, sweet strawberry-apple; McFarlane's Blueberry Battalion, sweet blueberry and named after Major McFarlane who fought in the American Revolutionary War and the Whiskey Rebellion; and Blackpaw Treaty, a semi-sweet blackberry cabernet named after the secret agreement. I loved all of these wines! Mingo Creek Cellars currently sells many other wines: Cavalier Cab, a dry red cabernet sauvignon; Bradford's Blaze, a dry syrah; Whispers of the Hill, petite sirah; Militia Whisperer, Gewürztraminer; Rebel Scout, a dry riesling; Forbidden Flame, a semi-sweet with raspberry and dragonfruit.

Instead, I found them yesterday at White Oak Park. They seemed to be very popular, and the park was crowded for a cross country meet. The wait was around 20 minutes. People there are friendly and give off that local family-owned place vibe instead of the corporate ice cream shop feeling. Their prices are quite reasonable. Even a large was less than the competition's price. Much better quality and quantity than Rita's. Portion was great. I had the cherry, and it was pretty tasty. They have lots of unique flavors that I'd like to try next time. Some include peach, something with dragon fruit, coconut, birthday cake, guava, piña colada, among others. I believe they rotate flavors. I will say that I prefer having a bit stronger of a Cherry flavor and I feel like there wasn't quite as much of a flavor punch. If your wondering how this place got its name, this place used to be a service station that serviced cars. When you go in the one door, the handle is a gas pump nozzle. When you drive up and look at the front, the big garage doors are still there as is the holes where they would push the exhaust hoses out through when they ran the vehicles inside. The doors are still usable too. Maybe someday they'll add a place to eat outside and open the doors for you to order your food and sit out to eat without having to go inside.
