Premium package did not meet expectations and the cost included a poor attitude. If you do hire this company, the window cleaning itself was fine but not extraordinary
Let me start out by saying I've never had windows professionally cleaned before and my expectations may have been too high.
1. The communication was a bit disorganized between the owner/technician and his wife. He would text me one thing and she emailed something else. He quoted me a price by text but her email quoted higher. The time changed a couple of times. The good thing was he did end up arriving at the time he estimated versus the one she provided.
2. During our texts, I advised him I needed the windows professionally cleaned because I was having a company put solar screens over my windows. He apparently does that type of work and was a bit pushy about him taking that work on. I made it clear I had committed to another company and would only need him for window cleaning. When he showed up to clean the windows, he began bad-mouthing the other company that was to do my solar screens. He was never told what company I hired. It was unprofessional to disrespect another company for no reason other than he did not have the job. He began talking about his dad starting the business in 1976 and that's why he has so much knowledge. Just because your dad was a great window guy doesn't mean squat. My sister is a doctor, do you want me to perform surgery on you?
3. I agreed to pay $350 cash (I was told it would be higher for other payment forms) for the premium package which is the highest residential service he offered. It was to include inside/outside windows, screens, and the tracks. He cleaned the windows fine...a spot here and there but it was fine. When I looked at the job when he said it was done, I noticed that the side and top of the window where it meets the wall was not cleaned. He explained that was a "sill" and not a track and he didn't clean those and none of his service plans provided that. The manner in which he delivered that message was arrogant and super disrespectful. He took a paint can opener pointed it at the track and then the sill and sounded out the word "track" vs "sill" a couple of times.
4. I pointed out two tracks he completely failed to clean (kitchen and bathroom). He did then attend to them.
5. He left a bit of a water mess in each room and in the track. I have hardwood floors so it was careless; I had to clean up after him. The mess was not huge, but for $350 it seemed a bit lazy.
6. He had about ten full size windows to clean and only four screens since I was getting some screens redone by the other company. He failed to put the four screens on before he left
7. He asked if I read the literature he emailed me because that would resolve everything and my expectations would have been met- He emailed me a document a day or two before his arrival but I needed a password to open it. He never sent the password. His tone was rude and said the password was in the email - I doubled checked after he left and it was not. Also, he handed me the literature before he left and it didn't resolve any questions or concerns. It just relayed that if there are window imperfections his cleaning can't resolve it (scratches etc...).
8. He knew I was dissatisfied with the work. When it was time for payment, he looked at me and asked how I liked the service. I stated this was my first experience hiring a window cleaner and it was my fault for expecting more. He started talking about another customer in Calistoga who also had issues with him and his work. He began comparing me to people from Calistoga. I said to him that he knew I was not pleased, so why ask the question if he didn't want to hear the answer. I gave him his money, looked him in the eye and told him to have a nice day. I was not snarky but I was very direct. I said it so he would know it was time to leave my home. He stood there and just vented about "people like you...." and acted as though I was a millionaire. I again had to tell him to have a nice day and motioned him to go to the door. He did leave and was talking the entire time about wealthy people and their expectations. Newsflash: I'm not even close to being wealthy.
The extra BS that came with his service (his cocky and arrogant unprofessional behavior, lack of cleaning the "sill," beyond pushy on hiring him for the solar screen job, cleaning up after him) was improper. He owns a company and should be professional. He needs to start acting his age and not his shoe size.
Beware if you live in Calistoga. He has a chip on his shoulder about people from there...I'm guessing because the stereotype is they make more money than average people. That being said, I am not sure where he has the right to criticize because I'm not the one making $350 for less than 2 hours of average work. read more
