We reached out to a few different Roofing companies and got the best bid from Stephen Curley. The roof on our old building (office for a non-profit) was leaking and had caused some damage. We needed the work done last summer before this rainy season and the storms. They were so friendly and easy to communicate with about the re-roofing. The office staff were on it, they called and emailed to confirm the date and when there was an opening to move the date up called and put us higher on the list. Stephen Curley put a new roof on my house 9 yrs ago but the materials didn't hold up and it needed to be re-roofed. This was a failure of the product, NOT the workmanship. Stephen filed a claim with the manufacturer and they covered the cost of the new roof. Meanwhile, due to some storm-related damage several inspectors surveyed the 9 yr old roof to determine the source of the leak. Every one of them said that roof was not the culprit, it was well built and solid. It turned out to be unrelated to the roof. Since the homeowner doesn't typically go up on a new roof to check out the work this was really good feedback to get. Very pleased with both roofs done by Stephen Curley Roofing! We were LONG overdue and delayed longer than we most likely should have but we finally picked a roofing contractor based on personal recommendations from friends and signed the contract with Stephen's company. From day 1 when we started discussion I just knew he was someone we wanted to do business with. Incredibly friendly, informative, honest, and responsive. All great qualities for someone you want to do business with! He was honest when there was price increases on materials and did what he could to navigate those changes from initial quote. It took us a while from initial conversation to action finally happening due to Covid, our dining timeline and finally their timeline of availability but it was worth the wait. The crew came this week for a 3 day job and while they technically took all 3 days most of the work was done in 2. The last day was final touch ups. The crew worked quickly, efficiently, and were great at attention to detail as far as cleaning up and keeping it clean while working and before they left each day. Everyone was respectful and kind that came on our property. I've never been in a house with a roof being installed - it's loud!!! Lol, if you have pets and can relocate them it might not be a bad idea. It was a little stressful for our zoo but everyone got over it. The roof looks SO good, reasonable pricing, they helped us out with some extra time and material needs relating to dry rot and venting to complete the job. The easiest most resounding 5 star review I have written. I worked with Steve directly to have my roof inspected for a home I was buying on the Sonoma Coast in 2023. I had a very tight escrow timeframe, and needed an immediate inspection, and Steve was able to adjust and accommodate me in inspecting - and getting the report back even with a little time to spare. When it was completed, he got on the phone with me, and we reviewed it together. If you haven't worked with, or even spoken with Steve, you will notice that he immediately exudes honor, professionalism, and integrity - not easy to find. When it came time to re-roof my home, Stephen Curley Roofing was the first company I called. Additionally, I got another bid just in case. The prices were similar, but Stephen Curley roofing had better and also additional material. It is different with the rain and wind on the coast. Anyone can put a roof on your house, but you need someone who knows how to "weatherproof" the roof. There is a reason why they install so many roofs along the Sonoma Coast. They know what they are doing. It was a very easy and comfortable decision to work with this company. Also, fast forwarding to the job - and I'm not saying this is going to be the same experience for all, but for example, one of my skylights had a leak. During the tear off, they determined that the prior company that installed the roof, NEVER flashed the skylight. One of the employees took two hours to flash and install it properly. They charged me $0. Additionally, last minute I asked for a diverter (to divert water from dripping off the roof near my front porch). The cost - Steve threw that in also. Last thing is, we had kind of complex job where we replaced two extremely large skylights with 4 smaller ones. We had to get inside and outside contractor work for the modifications. Very fortunately, Steve referred one to us and acted as a personal project manager throughout the entire job. I felt like Steve acted as a business partner to me and only strived for a perfect job. I have to say, there was also an unforeseen need for electrical work that ended up costing an additional $625. Guess what, they credited our final invoice that amount. Seriously, what other company would do that? The end product looks so much better than I imagined. The material, the craftmanship. you can tell. OK, the very last part is, after they left, you would never know they were there. Total clean up. Probably cleaner than before they started, and just very professional and courteous. Our insurance was not going to be renewed and we needed to find a replacement policy. Our insurance broker told us that we would need to have a new roof installed before he could find an insurer who would cover us. I just had my house roofed by Stephan Curley Roofing. I am extremely happy with the results and the entire process. Steveʻs communication style is very calm, which helped ease my anxiety about the job, as he clearly explained to me the entire process, and responded to every question and concern I had. I noticed that that each time Iʻd give him info, he relayed it straight to his crew. I was impressed with how responsive he is to emails, as well as his attention to communicating details everyone. Steve estimated the job to be 2-3 days, but they got the job done in two full days. Cliff and Steve both paid close attention to where the interior ceiling damage spots were. They were able to report that they discovered the source of one of the leaks was under the solar and the plywood had only some water spots; no dry rot. The crewʻs foreman Asevio has been with Steve for 30 years and was always available. There was a wooden structure atop the wood stove chimney that did have dry rot, and they re-built the whole thing beautifully. Steve has owned this company for 33 years. Not only did they help with the challenging HOA person, but also was responsive and I was quickly scheduled. The tear off was messy, but was cleaned up afterwards. The new roof, with all the angles looks great. This was two years ago and it's been great knowing I had protected my house with the new roof. I had an issue with the big storm the beginning of February (2024) where the high wind gusts took a small corner of my roof off. Stephen had his crew come out immediately and repaired the damage.
