Crappy, crappy service. Over an hour to get food, even though they knew of the reservation for a large party ahead of time. Our table asked 9 times to get a refill on coffee. 9 times! The worst service I've had in a long time waited over 10 min for my drink the food was not good all store bought frozen crap I had the southern dinner chicken fried steak the best thing on my plate was the mashed potatoes and I'm sure they came from a box my wife had the blue cheese burger and it was just plain nasty my daughter had a sampler platter with mozzarella sticks potato skins and jalapeño poppers and she said the best thing on her plate was the cheese sticks so overall not good now I think I have to puke read more

Eaten here a couple of times now. Decent food, decent prices. Didn't want to eat at any of the fast food joints around and wanted a sit down lunch so ended up here. Was seated quickly by a cute waitress who took my drink order quickly and came back almost as fast. Food was crisp, fresh, and tasty. I'd be back! read more

There really is only two places in Soledad to have food that isn't fast food and this is one of them. I had the BLT and potato salad a couple of weeks ago while traveling through, order taken and served up by a cute waitress name of Jackie. Floor manager was attentive, tables and floor were clean and although only about 1/8th full (late lunch for me), food was served up fresh and quick. I've eaten here twice before with somewhat the same results, so the pattern is pretty well developed. I'll be back. read more

I ordered the Chicken Crunchy Salad. I enjoy this salad because of the boiled egg and good portion of chicken. It is served with bread and your choice of dressing. I love their homemade hoeny mustard dressing. Its a large salad you can share with a friend. read more

This place is awful! full of flies and just dirty, I do not understand how the owner/manager does not see the dirty filth on window sills and under all the tables. It makes me scared what the kitchen looks like. The bacon they use is 95% fat, but breakfast is decent otherwise. lunch and dinner are not that great , there biggest problem is they have way to many things on menu to make any great meals. Am staying at the Harvest Inn. Went into Windmill Restaurant. Delightful waitress. Did a little wine tasting, bought my bottle of wine. Got some buffalo wings. The only thing missing is I can not get SF Giants game on TV in my room. Will be stopping in Windmill restaurant tomorrow. Yummy read more

I love this place! Clean and friendly with a lot of choices. Salads taste amazing and are generous in portion. They substitute items upon request to fit dietary needs. A total plus for when I'm behaving myself. Diet aside, I've had their pastas which are better than most places in Monterey (yes, really!) The burgers and fries are off the hook! We went here for breakfast. I had biscuits and gravy and my husband had the banana nut pancakes. It was nothing to write home about. The restaurant is dated, playing Sinatra music too loudly, and our booth smelled like bo. The only reason I give two stars are because the servers were very cheerful and nice. I'm rating it 3 stars because the service isn't very good. That's the only reason why I choose to get take out because the waitresses neglect their tables too much. Just had breakfast at Windmill on our way down from sf bay area to San Luis Obispo looking for a sit down place to be served a good breakfast. We make the trip at least 4x or more a year. Jackpot. I had the Original Joe's with potatoes that were crispy and flavorful and my wife had a tasty omelet with crispy golden hash browns. $ 21.00 total and left a $ 5.00 tip. Very good. I really love this place, and I come here often with family. I would pick eating here over eating at Denny's anyday. Pros: The food is awesome. My favorite are the club sandwhich, the chicken strips, and a ham omlette for breakfast. The portions are pretty big, and I usually have leftovers for the next day. The atmosphere is nice, and I love coming to eat here with my family. Cons: Service is overall terrible. There are some days where the waitresses are attentive to our table and nice, but over 70% of the time we are waiting on them and trying to get their attention for something. The worst experience we had was when my sister ordered an all you can eat ribs type meal. We were the only ones in the restaurant, but the waitress ignored us the entire time. It got to the point where my sister had to walk up to the front and ask for the waitress to come to our table. After that, the waitress took forever to bring my sister her rib refill. She gave both my parents an attitude, and was incredibly rude once it came to pay. She was a young, thin, dark haired woman and has been working there a while I think. There have been other instances where she was pleasant, but I will forever be marked by that single experience with her. Most of my terrible experiences here have been with this woman, 'cause all of the other waitresses that we had were always nice and attentive to our table. read more

The food is good, but the service leaves alot to be desired. Last time we ate there the place was not busy by any means. 9 customers and 3 waitresses and service was SLOW. This is by far the worse restaurant in Soledad.The wait staff is slow the food comes out over cooked and flavorlese.Today I was served water in a cracked glass.When I bought it up to the waitress she was surprised as would anyone I asked for another glass of water 15 minutes later still no water.I support local businesses all around the County of Monterey.But if you to support local businesses.I would recommend the taco truck in Soledad.The food is always Awesome.I will never go to the windmill.My experience going to the dentist for a root canal was more enjoyable. read more

Last year I had two good experiences at the Windmill. Last week was a different story. I went in for dinner and the first thing I noticed is that the water smells like chlorine or bromine. I saw it mentioned on at least one other review here on Yelp, so I know it's not just me. They need to invest in a good water filtration system, or start serving Arrowhead (or similar). Also, management needs to review hand washing procedures with the serving staff. I'll leave it at that, I'm not trying to get anyone fired by giving too many details. read more

DONT GO! If I could give no stars I would. "Shredded chicken enchiladas" came out with no shredded chicken, it was cubed. Watched the cook use the microwave half the time. They leave the walk in wide open. He put my food in the window then realized he had put diced tomatoes on it when I asked for no tomatoes. Overall just terrible. disgusting! this place had more health code violations than a hooker had stds! my wife had a salad and went to use the red wine vinegar , the little bottle had more bugs than i could count! she told the waitress and she was like "oh my bad let me get another one" meaning another red wine vinegar. i just shook my head and laughed in disbelief. my steak tasted like it was sitting in a freezer for about a year, just awful! so it's safe to say i'm never coming back. read more

On my way back to the Bay Area from Paso Robles with a hungry teenager, I pulled in here hoping for a decent meal for the family. We had one of the best diner meals we've ever had. As a truck driver, I judge a diner by the coffee. Great cup of joe, especially at 7:00 p.m. Soup was comforting, warming, and homemade with tons of chicken and veggies. Dinners were enough for two people and classic comfort food. Wish we had room for dessert, but that just means a return trip. read more
