A few of my close friends and I ate breakfast here yesterday morning. Our server was Hunter. He was so much fun! We are a loud group of 4, and he took to us pretty great. I had the Fancy Goat. It. Was. Amazing. I am sorry that I did not get any pictures....I was ready to eat! I had the Gouda grits as a side, and they were phenomenal as well. I also tried my friend's brisket and grits and apple bread. They also get 5 stars! I will DEFINITELY be back! Also, the red velvet cheesecake is awful. Do not order it. Just leave it there and I will come get the whole thing so nobody has to worry about that mistake. I have been going to this restaurant since I was a child! This place is such a home-y, loud and fun restaurant! It is a small little house that was turned into a restaurant so it is a bit crammed but it makes it all the more fun! My favorite dish there is definitely the wild ass fettuccine! It was not on their menu but if you ask for it, they will definitely know what you are talking about. It is a spicy fettuccine Alfredo! Beware it is definitely spicier than you expect, so if you like spicy foods, it is a must try! The margarita pizza is also always made to perfection! The Wild Olive is one of my favorite spots to go to when I'm in town visiting. I have been on multiple occasions and every time my experience has been excellent. The food is wonderful- flavorful, fresh and hot, nothing on their menu is bad, the people are friendly and perform superbly, and the atmosphere is casual and inviting, in one word- homey. I will continue to come back and highly recommend anyone who is in town to stop in. read more

This is probably one of the few places I actually like in the Panhandle. It's a bit small in my opinion, but it's very cute. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating. I recommend outdoor when it's a bit more cooler. They have a selection of dessert for you to look at as you come in. Their selection on the menu is a little small, but it's good overall. My favorite things would probably be the tuna dip and the olive oil concoction with their bread. That thing taste... AMAZING! I could eat that for the rest of the night there. Delicious. Wow. Needed a quick place to stop for lunch. I was hungry, looking for a hot sandwich. I got a table quickly, sat down and ordered a coffee. After a quick exchange, I ordered their premier smoked ribeye sandwich... The rest is a blur. A delicious, succulent, tangy and smokey, light and fluffy, blur. I was blown away. This place is a big disappointment. I ordered chicken parmesan and got a small piece of chicken with an overwhelming amount of soggy spaghetti. Olive Garden does it better by 100%. Wife ordered Southern Fried Chicken and got Southern BURNT Chicken. Complained to the waitress who took the burnt coatings back to the chef. Came here for dinner for a friend's birthday and the ambiance was really nice. I would definitely recommend coming here when the weather is nice so that you can sit outside on the patio for dinner. The staff was super friendly and helped me surprise my friend - I came a few min early with a cake and asked them to bring out the cake after our meal. When our waitress brought out the cake, the candles were all lit and looking nice. As for the food, it was pretty good. We ordered the fried green tomatoes as an appetizer and I ordered the jambalaya as my entree. The fried green tomatoes tasted really similar to onion rings (it was my first time trying it) and the jambalaya, while tasty, was a bit too salty for my taste. What was really good was the salad that came with it - I got the house salad with dressing on the side. The salad was fresh and the bread basket was hot. Overall, their menu was relatively simple and while the jambalaya didn't blow me away, I would come back for a drink if I could sit on the patio! read more

Glad we found this place while we were in town over night. Building inside and out is very quaint. Menu was on the smaller side with a good variety. We both had fish and it was amazing. The blackened grouper with Gouda grits was probably the best I've had. I mistakenly ordered the wrong side and the kitchen immediately made a new one. First time going to the Wild Olive. We had seen the high star rating through Yelp and all the positive reviews. Yet when we go out we always go south from Defuniak to Destin/Miramar/30A. Glad we finally decided to try the Wild Olive. If by far exceeded all expectations! I had the 12oz Ribeye and it was cooked to a perfect medium rare and my wife had the salmon in which she most thoroughly enjoyed. The staff was very accommodating, attentive and friendly! What we really liked was the BYOB because we were able to bring a wine and share it with our friends that we know for a fact is amazing and not hoping the wine is good when ordering from a selective and overpriced wine list. We will most certainly be back ourselves and bring friends there when visiting from out of state. Good Job Wild Olive! You just earned repeat customers! read more

One of my favorite places to eat. My girlfriend and I had our first date here, and now we've been together for more than two years! Naturally, we come eat here very often. The menu is always a delight. It seems like they rotate out some items and are always giving new things a try, which makes it fun every time we visit. I'm a chef myself, so I love trying what their guys love enough to put on the menu. And then, come the desserts. I imagine these are one of most people's favorite reasons to come visit The Wild Olive. I don't know who is making their desserts, but they're definitely doing something right. Just simply the best. There's not even a close second in the county. Oh! And of course the staff has always been very friendly as well. Never had a bad experience at The Wild Olive, and I doubt I ever will. We are traveling and staying along the interstate highway for one night. This restaurant was a great find! We got takeout and brought it back to our hotel room. It was ready when promised in 30 minutes. The Cajun shrimp and grits dinner was perfect. The Mediterranean salad with grilled chicken was fresh and delicious. I have only been to The Wild Olive once so far. I was a little put off by the prices, although I do understand that it is a more upscale restaurant than what we typically have here in the View. I ate the spaghetti & meatballs (nice and saucy, which I LOVE, although slightly bland for my tastes), roasted red pepper soup (DIVINE!!), and of course the bread. I was surprised that the bread wasn't served with the seasoned oil I have come to prefer when eating in an Italian food establishment (and slightly disappointed, too). I will definitely try eating here again some day, and will be trying the three cheese tortellini the other reviewers have mentioned. :) read more

If you're into good fresh modern food, this is the best place in Crestview. It deserves to be at the top of the list here. We were on a work trip from DC all week and after working our way down the Yelp list eating deep fried this and that, we were one meal away from a heart attack when we finally stumbled upon the Wild Olive. Despite being BYOB (there's a CVS with wine nearby anyway) the food was excellent. The bread always indicates whether or not a meal is going to be great. The bread here was fresh, warm, had some delicious savory spices on it, and came with spiced dipping oil with cheese in it. It was awesome, and a good sign of things to come. The Greek salad was fresh and delicious - worth the $2 upgrade. Our table shared a fried green tomato appetizer special, which was a nice start to the meal. Everyone at the table enjoyed their meals. The prime ribeye was amazing and had a really tasty sort of dry rub on it. The fish special was really good as well. The fried grit cake was creamy and delicious. The veggies were well seasoned and cooked nicely. The mahi was a big hit as well. Service was very friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. My husband's boss is retiring so she picked this place for her retirement dinner. We've never heard of this place before in the 6 months we were living in Crestview. Food is amazing. I had the oven roasted chicken and it's to die for! The mustard grain sauce was the perfect addition to the potato, mushroom, and asparagus hash and I don't care much for mustard! My husband had the shrimp alfredo and the sauce was creamy without being overbearing. Also, the peach salad was wonderful. It paired great with the apple vinaigrette. And you got to get the desserts here! The Oreo cheesecake was the bomb dot com! I was so stuffed. The server we had was wonderful. I didn't get her name but she was super sweet and attentive. I came here for dinner after a business meeting and was very pleased. The service was very good, showing no impatience while we waited for a member of our party to arrive. I had a very good Caesar salad, really enjoyed the bread and olive oil. We ordered the jalapeño appetizer, which was also delicious, as were the fried green tomatoes with spicy mayo. This is not a place for the calorie conscious. I ordered the special, a soy-glazed mahi mahi with coconut rice. The mahi was great, but the rice seemed to be soaked in thick coconut milk.
