Spinach Artichoke Dip and French loaf

The Vine around Christmas is a VIBE. I highly suggest you request a reservation in what they call "The Vault" - a nice private room that is great for about 10 people or less. The service is always impeccable and they make you feel right at home. The Fra Diablo is a staple menu item that at least 1 person in my group always orders and never disappoints. Fra Diablo: penne pasta and mushrooms in our spicy vodka sauce topped with parmesan cheese + add Chicken or Shrimp You'll always catch me ordering the Filet Mignon here and it is accompanied by the starch and vegetable of the day. All steaks are hand-cut on-premise and you can add shrimp if you like. The wine selection is phenomenal and the cocktails are tasty. Overall - a MUST try if you are in the South Bend/Elkhart area!

Shrimp cocktail $18

Our waitress was awesome! The whole staff were very friendly & welcoming. Our food was very good, came out hot. We would have preferred chilled plates for the shrimp cocktail($18). I wish they offered chips as a side with the sandwiches/burgers. An itty bitty serving of fresh fruit or pasta salad wasn't an ideal choice. And I do mean itty bitty, it was the same amount that came mixed with the shrimp cocktail! I would have preferred some fancy chips to the sides offered. (FYI, fries weren't one of them nor were veggies ) There was a lot of meat on the Ruben sandwich with was very good($16). The burgers were very good as well($18.50). The atmosphere was pub style. We had a nice dinner, not sure with the high prices if we will be back. There are other options in that price range with more balanced meal options. We didn't like leaving a meal & already thinking about what we are going to have later, especially with the price of the meal. It was nice to try though.

Well spaced tables on the outside patio.

I like that they encourage virtual menus and they have a decent patio with well spaced tables. They have a nice lunch menu, light to heavy meals. I chose the soup and salad combo with cold gazpacho soup and the Vine salad. Both were very good. I did ask for bread which they bring straight from the oven, great! Buttery and crisp on the top, yum. RRR got a cheeseburger and really enjoyed it.

Baked Brie and French bread

Had a great time sitting in the patio, got the baked Brie which was very delish and come with a nice fruit spread. Got the chicken tacos for dinner which were solid with a glass of sangria, rest of the tables food looked great as well!

Ahi tuna

Walked down from the hotel and I'm glad I did. Was going to get a pizza but the ahi tuna special with rice and green beans was delicious. Had the strawberries and cream for dessert. Friendly staff and Patricia did a great job.

My Cosmo drink

I was not impressed with the Vine on a whole. I think it's very over priced. As you can see my drink was horrible. Why would you serve a drink half full. I have never had one like this any where. When I order a Martini it is full. Not half full. I think they need to rethink this. When I said something to the waitress she just laughed. Not impressed at all.

My wife and I used to go to The Vine often when it was in South Bend. So we haven't been in several years now. What the hell? Why did we not drive to Elkhart? It was wonderful! It's a cozy place, but not too small. Much prefer this type of setting to a larger one. Excellent wine, spirits and beer list that you will absolutely find suits your tastes. We started with the Asiago Crab Dip. Such good gooey cheesiness. There's an ample amount of crab meat (you don't get that everywhere), and is with some damn good bread. I had the Fra Diablo with grilled chicken. My wife had the Wild Mushroom Ravioli. The Diablo has a great spice level to it. I could use a bit more heat, but I'm like that. Great flavor in the sauce, although the chicken was a bit dry. Not a deal breaker however. As for the ravioli, wow. Just wow. Such creamy richness. If you want a lighter dish, stay the hell away from this then. If you want some comfort and a luxurious sauce, look no further. A couple of drinks apiece (very nicely done dirty Tito's martinis for me, Riesling for the wife), and we opted not to have a dessert this time. Walked out well fed, and for a total bill that doesn't break your bankroll to pieces. Top that with good service, means we will come back. Like we used to do at the older locations.

The Vine is fine. I had a perfect lunch here (December 2018) with a relative and a business advisor for a cozey lunch. I ordered the Ahi Tuna Desconstructed Taco and it was delicious. The tuna had a perfect, smokey and seasoned flavor. The prices were right for good fare. The coffee on this chilly day was welcomed and well flavored. The waitstaff and hostess were welcoming and gracious. Great atmosphere for lunch, dinner, or a small-town business meeting. When in Elkhart I will come back for dinner.

We were in the downtown Elkhart area and happened into The Vine for lunch. Not knowing exactly what to expect, we were pleasantly surprised. Our server, as well as all staff we encountered, were so nice and attentive. The interior was very warm and welcoming. It really had a small town feel. I ordered the Spinach & Shrimp salad. It was yummy! This would be especially delicious in the summer as it had a lot of fruit incorporated. Speaking of warmer weather, The Vine appeared to have a large outdoor seating area that would be delightful on a nice day.

The Vine has been one of the only restaurants in downtown Elkhart worth going to for the longest time. I grew up in Elkhart and now live in Indianapolis. The Vine is always a great option for a nice dinner when I come home. Recently, the interior was renovated with new paint and fixtures. The menu has also changed. My favorite item at The Vine since 2010 was their Bow tie pasta. It was light and delicious and the sun dried tomatoes added the most amazing flavor. Unfortunately the bow tie pasta didn't make it into the menu and I was heart broken. One item they made sure was kept on the menu was the Garbage Salad (mixed greens, green apple, candies walnuts, cranberries and balsamic vinaigrette). I went ahead and got the salad. But it wasn't served with the baguette like it used to. Overall, everyone enjoyed their meal. Sad to see some of the favorites go but everyone should still support this local establishment!

Ate here not too long ago and got food poisoning. Would not recommend this restaurant to my worst enemy. Eat at your own risk.

If you haven't been here and like Italian food, stop searching, close the app now, and drive to this restaurant (maybe check for a reservation first). I came here with a larger group and every single person loved their food. Our server Brendan was fantastic and helpful, and gave us plenty of recommendations and customized them for what we were looking for. Though I'm sure there are other great choices, we generally followed his lead and we were very glad we did. Several of the group ordered the salmon and argued it might be the best salmon they've ever had. I got the rigatoni vodka and it was amazing. We also had the goat cheese appetizer and I'm still dreaming about that one. Also got branzino which was another hit. I'm convinced you can't go wrong here. Prices reflect a nice Italian place, but they are absolutely fair for the quality here. I regret not getting pictures before devouring everything, but hopefully you get the point. Drinks were on point too. Go eat here. Thank me later.

I was Seated right away and introduced to my waitress, Taylor, immediately. Taylor deserves special accolades. She was so friendly and caring; she made my dining experience special. Thank you Taylor!! Taylor was awesome; she was friendly, always checking on me and sincerely concerned about my satisfaction. She was willing to do anything to make things right if I wasn't happy with something. First I ordered the Crab Cakes as an appetizer. Then I ordered off the specials menu; a Japanese spiced Branzino dish. The crab cakes were somewhat disappointing. Mostly filler and not much crab taste. Sometimes the taste actually resembled a tuna fish sandwich. The remoulade sauce that came with the crab cakes was really tasty. I wasn't really happy with the branzino dish. The fish was cooked pretty well, but "in my opinion" It had too much seasoning and the seasoning had an off flavor. Could just be my personal tastes. The restaurant has a lot of seating, little nooks and corners and a bar with seating. Plenty of quiet areas and areas to gather as a large group as well. Even though I didn't have great food choices today; I'm pretty sure while I'm in town this weekend, I'll go back and try some different dishes. See you all soon!!
