I don't even know where to begin. So lucky to have this inconspicuous farm to table restaurant outside of South Bend. Lydick is an unincorporated community of 1400 residents. When you pull up, the outside is just like any other small town bar & grill. The food, being farm to table, is ALL homemade. They have a cocktail menu too. I had lunch at Pejza's. A basic cheeseburger and fries. It might be the best cheeseburger and fries I've ever had. The sandwich was well seasoned, homemade pickles, hand cut fries with ketchup made in the restaurant. It was delicious. The service was exceptional! Do not sleep on this tavern! It doesn't look like much from the outside, but inside you'll find true farm to table cooking and homemade EVERYTHING (including the ketchup.) We recently relocated to Indiana, where the official state sandwich is the breaded pork tenderloin. As newly minted Hoosiers we wanted to try one, and heard this was the place to go. We were not disappointed! Michaela was welcoming, attentive, and friendly. We liked the farm-to-table menu that actually identified which farms provided which foods. The sandwich itself was delicious. The pork overhung the tasty bun (meaning the pork was large, not that the bun was small), and was cut thick which kept it juicy. The pickles and sauce in the sandwich really brought the flavor together. We also tried the basket of fried mushrooms as a side and found them delicious as well. Took my parents out for dinner tonight and we decided to try Pejza's! The place is very well lit and has a plenty of booth and table options along with a long bar full of high top chairs. There are a few tv's scattered about the bar and the overall aesthetic is very warm and welcoming! Our server was very nice and always checking up on us. We ordered the bacon jam burger special along with the house made tenderloin sandwich and the Bluegill dinner. The burger was charred to perfection atop a perfected toasted bun with super press lettuce and garlic aioli! The tendering was seasoned will and breaded to crisp perfection! Allowing the pork flavor to shine through every bite! The Bluegill was also fresh and tasty! The homemade pickles on the sandwiches were a nice touch hint of lemon to them and the ketchup we were served tasted homemade and semi sweet in a tangy way. We also ordered a piece of Carrot cake to go which we were told is made in house and it was fantastic the house made frosting was as fresh as can be! Came in early on accident to this tavern because we got an email with the wrong time for our drink and canvas event.  We ordered food while we were there, my husband got a burger with fries while I hot the club sandwich platter (comes with friez, coleslaw and a pickle).  Unfortunately their truck with fries had not come yet so she gave us waffle fries instead.  Honestly, the waffle fries were AMAZING.  Crispy and fluffy at the same time, just prime dive bar fries.  I would highly recommend the waffle fries when you come in, even if it is the only food you get. Canvas painting was a ton of fun and my husband is already wanting to attend another as soon as possible.  I would 100% recommend this location for an evening out. read more

South Bend, Indiana. This is the place in North Certal/ Northwest Indiana. I finally made it to Pejza's Lydick Patio. 9 out of 10. The tenderloin was awesome. Maybe the best I've ever eaten. I ordered two more to go. As you can see, it was slightly bigger than the bun. About 3/4-inch think in the center. The only thing holding it back was the small portion of fries. I would highly recommend coming to Pejzas. I want you to know it's a small restaurant but it's totally with the wait. For an appetizer, we tried the four cheese pierogi, the potato pierogi, the fried mozzarella and the Parmesan fries. The pierogies are about the size of a hot pocket and they are fantastic there deep-fried and serve with different sides to go on top. The pan, fried mozzarella and the four cheese pierogi for the two favorites of the group. Nothing against the other two they were great. They just weren't the absolute best. So I picked the lake perch. My wife got the blackened Ahi tuna over a beer salad. My son got the pork tenderloin my daughter got the cheeseburger. The pork tenderloin is wonderful hand breaded ham pounded season to perfection served with homemade fries lake perch is your standard bar fish very tasty, but nothing out of the ordinary, the black and Ahi tuna over beet salad it's just the start of the show. UPDATE: My husband got a private message on FB calling my husband an a**hole. This is hopefully not the kind of restaurant you would enjoy going to. See photo attached. We have been there many times, the last two were bad but tonight was THE worst. Lousy service and took FOREVER to get our food (unless you were friends with the server) I have NEVER been talked to like that from a server like that in my whole life!!!!! Granted I was a bit vocal but it was all true). And we could tell we weren't the only ones that waited forever to get our food. This place has gone down hill. Ordered onion rings as an appetizer which ended up served with my husbands hamburger. To top it off they were $6 and had about 7 onion rings! Guess we will see how long before they close. The food is absolutely delicious. We stumbled in one day looking for a good place to eat not far from home and also a place that was locally owned, not a chain. We were pleased to find that the owner is a chef who bought the pub so he could spend more time with family. He is there and does prep and cooking of many made in the kitchen items such as homemade ketchup,pickles,soups and one of the best pork tenderloin sandwiches I've ever had , bluegill fish. Well the list goes on. It kinda has that cheers ambiance. Staff is great and don't be surprised if you see the chef who is delightful. This is definitely a favorite. You should try it . If you've never been here before then give it a try. Food is standard fair. Nice big parking lot. If you are headed here because you enjoyed it in the past, and are hoping for the same experience, you are better off choosing another spot. Despite the new owner keeping the family name it now has much less of a welcoming and comfortable feel. Some of the employees are nice and professional but one in particular, apparently with full support from the new owner, is exceedingly rude and even told customers while I was there that he had better things to do than wait on them. read more
