Latte And Banana Nut Bagel
Steve A.

By default the best coffee shop in Oswego for lack of better choices. It certainly beats a corporate chain for sure. The Village Grind is where locals like to come to take care of boring things. Last time in one woman was being taught about investments and stock portfolios like she never heard of these before. They also have bagels and lots of other non food items like jewelry, soap, and whatever. Came in one morning just for coffee and a bagel. It seems kind of like a house. This probably was. It has the counter to order at. There's two places to go after this. One way has the general store with the things such as jewelry. They also sell soap, making an interesting but not as good as it sounds, smell combining coffee and soap. Going the other way you get to the lounge. This has a few comfortable chairs along with the harder wooden chairs and tables. I had a latte. It's $4 for a regular. They have non dairy milks and raw sugar. It was good even though it was small for the cost. There's not that much in the way of food. I had a banana nut bagel. It's $3.58 with a spread. They only have cream cheese though. It means they don't have any vegan friendly ones. This was okay on its own but it was kind of stale. Good coffee though it's small and expensive. It doesn't have much in the way of food. The other stuff they sell is okay for gifts if you need something for grandma or people who like those kinds of things.

I was in the area and had to drop off something at the post office. This was my first time in downtown Oswego and it was pretty nice, albeit small. I needed a caffeine boost and found The Village Grind within walking distance of the post office. The interior is really cool. Feels like an old house. Aside from coffee, they have cake, chips, and protein bars. They also have coffee beans you can dispense into bags for purchase. I ordered a cappuccino and a mocha moe. The milk foam on the capp was more on the flimsy side, not thick/dense how I like it. The mocha had decent flavor, but they use a chocolate powder instead of a syrup; I think a syrup would have provided a richer flavor. Not the best coffee I've had, but decent place if you need a drink. Good service and reasonable pricing. 3.5 stars.

iv been coming here for years, i got charged 15 dollars for one medium iced coffee. and one medium iced chai latte. nothing extra in them, not even whip cream or cinnamon. the chai was completely filled with ice, and for some reason they threw in "large flavor" into both drinks! even tho no one asked for anything extra. insane. i want to support small business but this is unaffordable.

We love Village Grind! (Highly recommend their Southern Pecan iced coffee with French vanilla creamer!)

There's no words to accurately describe what a special place is to my husband and I - and truly all Oswego residents. The sweetest coffee shop in our little downtown, with consistent friendly faces that feel like home. We love their iced coffee, but also buy their coffee beans for using at home in our own grinder. Also our fave place to meet friends; the cozy back room is perfect for catching up. Simply the best!

Latte but ordered double espresso macchiato splash of soy. Told them exactly how to make this and now I'm drinking weak steamed milk

I asked for a Cortado they didn't know what that was so I said a double espresso macchiato. They gave me a 12oz latte. I told them exactly how to make this drink it's not that hard. Didn't even listen waste of $5 never will I be back. 6/14 So I called them and told them about my issue and they were kind enough to issue a store credit to which I redeemed today. I went in and explained the type of drink I wanted and I was fortunate to have the owner present so she could learn and oversee the process. They made the drink and while not exactly a traditional Cortado I was happy that they were receptive to my wants and I was able to enjoy my morning drink :)

Cute spot. Sausage and egg Sammy on an English muffin hit the spot on a busy morning. Staff was friendly!

Had an Italian sandwich with everything and the voodoo heat chips…read more The good: Sandwich was excellent as usual. Warm, taste good and consistent with the other sandwiches I get here. The bad: The voodoo chips were more salty than spicy. Didn't know voodoo heat meant salt! Lol. Didn't affect the meal, they were still good but I will go back to the jalopino ones next time. The ugly: Used a tray for my food and it was absolutely disgusting. I see this at other places as well - a quick wipe down of the tray vs. washing it. It was greasy and had lettuce from a previous use. Not sure places understand that this turns people off.

My meeting ended early so I found the nearest one before I headed back to the big city. Around 11:45am I went in and it was quiet (probably beat the lunch crowd) and clean. I do not remember who made my sandwich but I got my usual, Original Turkey on Whole Grain, Provolone Cheese with the works. I always ask for extra Pickles, Oil and Italian Seasoning. This is the first and I do mean the first time someone understood the assignment! Not only were the extras on there but it was the most perfect looking sandwich I've ever had from Potbelly's. Not sure why the ratings are so slow but I'm not going to read them because whenever I'm out that way, I'm going back. Everything was perfect for me!

We ended up at Mayo Grill on a Sunday when a lot of other places were closed, and the eclectic menu…read morecaught our attention. Cheesesteaks, burgers, sandwiches, gyros, shakes, and plenty of sides; there's a little bit of everything. We ordered an Oreo shake, lemon pepper fries, jalapeño poppers, a cheesesteak, and a gyro plate. Everything was made to order and came out fairly quickly, and the owner was genuinely nice and welcoming. The food was a bit mixed. The gyro meat and steak were both decent, but neither really stood out. The lemon pepper fries had a good crisp and solid seasoning, while the jalapeño poppers seemed slightly undercooked and never got that molten, creamy cheddar cheese texture you want. The Oreo shake was a safe win, and our total came to around $50. Not cheap, but not unreasonable for everything we ordered. Overall, a decent first visit. There's enough variety on the menu that I'd come back and try a few other things, but based on this meal, we won't exactly be rushing back.

Checked out this gyros spot called Mayo Grill down New York St last night. If the gyro is any…read moreindication then it's a great new option for getting some Greek and/or American fast food. The place is really only for takeout as there's only chairs for waiting for orders available but the inside was clean and well kept. The staff are really nice and when I asked them if they had a gyro salad that I could order because I didn't see it on the menu they said they could make it. It came piled with nicely cooked gyro slices and the Greek salad underneath was loaded with fresh slices of cucumbers, onions, tomatoes and a bunch of feta and Kalamata olives. The salad came with tzatziki and packages of Greek dressing but I asked for a pita on the side and made myself a gyro with some of the salad. Even with a packed sandwich there was still plenty of meat left to enjoy with the salad. For $14 it was a good value too. Looking forward to being back the next time I'm in the mood for a gyro or any of the other tasty looking things on their menu.
