I also ordered a pastry, that was fine. When I returned to tell the cashier the extra hot coffee was cold she walked to the kitchen and asked if she could give me a free hot coffee. Just wow. This was my first time here and my last. I took the coffee she fixed and my pastry and walked out. The overall ambience it's a nice coffee shop. Krema is my Downtown Plainfield regular when I am out and about…read more The menu is genuinely fun. They rotate creative latte flavors like honey lavender, chocolate cherry, and lemon honey and I am always down to try whatever is new. The espresso itself is mild, which works as a base but I personally wish it had a little more backbone. The iced lavender matcha is my personal standout and I will not be taking questions. They also let you build your own combinations, and a recent banana brown sugar iced latte I dreamed up was exactly as good as it sounds. The food punches above typical coffee shop fare. The Beyond sandwich with its sweet heat chipotle aioli is a genuine win, vegan or not. The brown sugar bacon gouda is a household favorite for my family. The baked treats are decent but honestly priced a touch above what they deliver. They are the only coffee shop in the area so the pricing reflects that reality more than the competition. The space is your standard coffee shop Joanna Gaines-esque rustic, warm and comfortable. They feature local art on the walls which I love, though I wish they rotated it more frequently. Easy way to keep things fresh and support the local creative community more actively. Staff is kind, genuinely engaging, and this is a queer safe space, which matters and is always worth naming out loud.

Sparrow Coffee is amazing -- great coffee, pastries and other items. Their avocado toast and even…read morePB&J are good. Their pastry selection is always so interesting. For example, during our visit, they had sweet basil rhubarb muffins -- you might think that this combo wouldn't work. Wrong -- the muffins were delicious! Staff are always pleasant, despite having to handle large crowds, especially on weekends. Pro tip: order ahead and the items will be waiting on a pickup shelf. The vibe is modern industrial and many tables have places to charge devices. We've only been here on the weekends, and as another reviewer pointed out, it would be challenging to work here from a laptop during this timing, due to the noise. We always look forward to visiting Sparrow Coffee.

They do have an online ordering system making it convenient and quick if in a rush. The space is large and I noticed a lot of people huddled up with laptops. There's also some outdoor seating as well. My order was ready at the estimated time given and I tried the honey lavender latte. It was a little too sweet for my liking so I may try something different next time. My husband got an iced mocha and I preferred his drink. The mocha tasted authentic and not too sweet. I loved how rich it was.

After a few minutes, there was yellow stuff that floated to the top which I'd never seen before as an everyday oat milk matcha drinker. As I kept drinking it, there was this weird after taste that made me feel a bit sick. The yellow stuff that floated on top again turn me off so much I couldn't finish it. My boyfriend got the iced cafe de olla and they made it so light with milk it looked like Dunkin' Donuts. He also couldn't finish it because of how milky it was. I also got a muffin from the rack they had, I had no idea what flavor it was since they were not labeled. I assumed it was a banana nut since it had nuts but I did not taste banana and the muffin was so dry. I spent $20 here for two drinks and a muffin just to take a few sips of both drinks and toss the rest, and had to share the muffin since it was so dry. Staff was friendly, but for the price you pay for the mid food products was not worth it. I would not come back, unfortunately.

I wanted to like this place, I really did, but after two visits I'm done…read more My first visit was back in January so I was unfamiliar with the ordering process. When I approached the counter no one acknowledged me so I said hi and an employee said hello back but didn't offer to take my order, so I assumed I needed to order at the tablet which is located before the seating and counter area. While placing my order, multiple people walked past me and ordered at the counter, so that was a little confusing. Those people were eating inside, though, so I thought maybe you need to use the tablet for take-out and order at the counter for eating in. To be honest, I'm still not sure. I assume if a person approaches the counter the employee should do more than just say hello and keep working, especially when I had to say it first, so that was a bit off-putting. I had perused their menu before my trip and wanted to try the breakfast pizza but when I saw it in person it looked old and dry so I decided to try the rice crispy treat instead. Well, it was so hard I had to microwave it when I got home just to be able to eat it. While it didn't taste stale, I don't think you should serve a rock hard rice crispy to someone and ask $4.50 to boot. All that said, the iced latte I ordered was exceptionally good, so I kept that in mind for the future. A few days ago I went back and ordered the same exact latte (via their app this time), just in a larger size. It tasted nothing like the one in January. Not only that, but after taking a sip and inquiring about getting some packets of sugar, I was told there were some around the corner from the counter. All I saw was fake sugar in packets and Sugar In The Raw in an open container with a spoon. Maybe I missed where the regular sugar was, I don't know. The whole area felt really disorganized and dirty which was a turn-off. For what they charge I expect fresher food and a consistent drink experience. I want to support small businesses but this place makes that hard. I won't be back.
