Overall dissatisfaction with everything. I walked in made a latte order and a regular coffee my latte was perfect. The coffee, that was meant to be extra hot- came out cold. I also ordered a pastry, that was fine. When I returned to tell the cashier the extra hot coffee was cold she walked to the kitchen and asked if she could give me a free hot coffee. Just wow. This was my first time here and my last. I took the coffee she fixed and my pastry and walked out. The overall ambience it's a nice coffee shop. But I am not sure who owns it they just need to do better overall with attentiveness to your clients. read more

This one stop shop for specialty coffee and wine bar is nestled into downtown Oswego. Parking was a but difficult as there is only a lot in the back of the building but the extra effort is very much worth it. Oak + Bean source their own coffee beans to create a wide variety of coffee types and flavors. Browsing the list, there were plenty of offerings that intrigued me to come back more than once. They also offer teas, snacks, baked goods, and other soft drinks. If those aren't enough, they double as an evening wine bar offering all wine types, mimosas, and some beers. I loved the murals all over inside and elevated design otherwise. They have monthly events to engage the community. Oak + Bean (which I keep wanting to call Oak + Brew) is located in the quaint downtown of Oswego. There's a parking garage nearby, which is very convenient. There aren't really any fun shops nearby, but there is a very nice park just a short walk away. That's a nice place to enjoy your coffee, although the interior of Oak + Bean is very nice. Plenty of seating inside with nice chairs, plus outdoor seating. We ordered a cappuccino and an iced ube latte. The cappuccino was served a bit hotter than normal, so I had to be patient before sipping. However, the milk foam was great, and the coffee tasted pretty good as well. My wife enjoyed the ube latte. Pricing was reasonable and service was friendly. read more

What a nice surprise in Oswego tonight. Went for the Wednesday night wine tasting and was introduced to a rose that was offered at $7 for their Happy Hour. Great menu as well, the fresh pasta on the Caprese with egg sandwich was sublime. Will be going back for breakfast to try their coffee. Everyone was so nice and knowledgeable about the wine. Love having this coffee shop in town! The French Madeline latte is so delicious. It's on the sweeter side but it's so velvety smooth and tastes just like a madeline. I tried the goat cheese spinach egg sandwich and it's really good. The pesto tastes great and bright and is a great option that feels both healthy and indulgent. Had some time to kill before church. Wanted to sit in a coffee shop to enjoy the morning sun while getting my coffee fix. Remembered this place was near where I was at and decided to come check them out. I was helped out right away and my order was taken immediately. Coffee, a muffin and a relaxing and cool vibe. Exactly what I wanted. I ordered an iced vanilla lavender latte. It was delicious. My coffee was strong and it had a hint of sweetness. Exactly how I like my coffee. The banana and chocolate muffin was delicious. They warmed it up and the chocolate chips melted into gooey goodness. The shop is bright and airy. I had no idea that they are also a wine bar. My cortado was great, we tried a couple sandwiches and toasts and everything was great, and the banana bread tasted fresh and delicious. Our server was friendly and helpful, the seating was cozy and plentiful, and the vibes were chill. They have a bar area and serve alcohol too, which is a great idea in a place like this. Stopped in here with a few family members for coffee and breakfast on a Sunday morning. The line was very busy, which is to be expected. The coffee and food tasted great, however, upon receiving our items I noticed we were missing a bakery item. I asked the barista about the item and she seemed irritated no one gave it to me. Also, I would avoid coming here when there is live music. It was so loud I don't even know how people had open books or laptops. The singer also was singing about her deep hatred for men, which was obnoxious. Numerous times in the chorus all we heard was "yeah I hate men" about 5 times. If all customers are going to have to listen to someone sing at the top of their lungs, it should at least be enjoyable music that doesn't degrade large groups of people. Love the vibe here but the 2 people on staff at the front counter today were not welcoming at all and made us feel weird even trying to order as this was our very time here. There were two of us and the guy that took our order literally had to asked each one of us a second time if we were eating in. Then they call our name and I ordered caprese toast. When I went to pick up my toast, they inform me there are no tomatoes. They need to buy some. I literally had pesto on toast with mozzarella, a basil leaf and some balsamic. He said he'd credit us, which I do appreciate. I'm not going to lie, the toast was still good but what would have happened if I would ordered bruschetta toast? Mozarella and balsamic only on toast? First time here, will definitely try it again, but first impressions are important. Disappointed this time but hoping for the best the next time we try it out! read more

This place is great! Wonderful place to get together with a friend to grab coffee, tea, or even wine. The staff are super friendly and knowledgeable about the options. 2 items were new on the menu. Honey Lavender Latte with Macadamia milk and I had a sweet roll. Let me say, when you have the option of Macadamia milk this is not your average place. Definitely a gem in the area. Every time I stop by they are busy & the dining room is usually more than halfway full. Lots of seating. There's a mix of high top bar seating & normal tables. Not a lot of 4 tops but there are some comfy chairs and a patio that's got tables for 4. Every latte I've tried has great flavor and not overly sweet. I have been wanting to try the new coffee shop in downtown Oswego for a while. The outside looks so inviting and the inside is trendy and clean. I ordered a hazelnut coffee and lemon earl gray scone. The coffee was warm and robust. It paired perfectly with the scone making an excellent combination. The scone was warm and soft. It got a little crumbly, but I still enjoyed the texture. The lemon was bright and the tea flavor added a bit of bite. I didn't know they also had wine tastings as I have mostly seen Oak + Bean referred for coffee, but that was an interesting touch (and now I know where the Oak comes from for the name). I would like to try their wine sometime too since the coffee was so good. Their breakfast sandwich looks amazing as well! I will definitely want to try that next time. Good espresso with a variety of flavors along with seasonal drinks. I've had the egg and cheese breakfast sandwich which is very good, a nice change to commercialized corporate coffee shops. It's clean, spacious and has a modern decor. Staff is friendly and polite. Would recommend giving this place a try if you're looking for good coffee. It's pricy, as most places are now, but for a once in a while splurge, it's great! read more

The food and quality of drinks are a premium, however, service continues to be a challenge at Oak + Bean. Ordered two drinks today, after one of the baristas continued to say second drink is ready and call out the name, I mentioned my drink should have been iced. Someone else that was extremely rude and short said this is not your drink, and called out someone else's name. I get it, the coffee shop was busy and clearly this woman was working on the espresso portafilter that was causing issues, however, it was not necessary to be so rude. Please coach the employees to double check the drink names before calling them out, and allow the customers to choose whether or not the drinks should have a sleeve. The sleeves are placed so tightly on the cups that it makes it difficult to pull down. Having managed my own coffee shop, the service is what sets apart small coffee shops. I do not appreciate attitude or the accusatory tone that the barista made a mistake, and you blame the paying customer. Here's a tip Oak + Bean, take the time to properly train employees to double check names and accuracy of orders before calling out names. Last thought, spend the extra money and get branded cups, and be considerate of the environment not placing sleeves on every drink even iced drinks! read more
