The service was quick and friendly. I ordered Miso Soup ($2.00), which was warm and served as a nice palette cleanser. Baked Mussels ($8.25), loaded with spicy mayo, masago, green onions, and eel sauce. Probably my favorite dish of the night. Vegas Roll ($10.25) is your typical deep fried roll. My partner ordered the Rock n Roll Baked roll ($12.95). We did have to ask for soy sauce and wasabi, as those were not provided. Overall, the food was delicious, I would revisit and recommend.

The restaurant wasn't that busy for the lunch rush, and the waitress was very attentive and helpful. The only downsides I experienced was that there was no hot water running in the bathroom that I could tell, and no paper towels were available to dry my hands or open the bathroom door with. I also had a small fly hovering around me while I ate (I was inside). Thinking about this experience a little deeper however (after the bill) changed things for me a bit. Was the food okay? Yes, I think... Was it noteworthy? Not really. The stacks of premade rolls sitting on the counter made me think twice about ever eating here again. I paid around $45 for lunch after tax and tip. I ordered 6 pieces of nigiri, a tempura roll, a small bowl of miso soup, and an iced tea. I don't consider this anything crazy or over the top. Given this price point I expect hot water and paper towels in the bathrooms, especially if employees who are handling our food use those facilities. 1-star, won't be back... oh, and the soy sauce bottle was literally stuck to the counter. I had to pry it off.

But that was only until their front counter host, Mariano, hooked me up. I told him my dilemma and he was super helpful, upbeat, knowledgeable, and kind. He listened to what Ibsaid and suggested the most amazing bowl I've ever had. And it was ALL his recommendations. I had the teriyaki bowl but added green dragon sauce, spicy teriyaki sauce, green onion, a scrambled egg, chili flakes, and avocado. HOLY Flavor Explosion, Batman! Wow. It was out of this world. I would never have ordered it like this. It was thanks to Mariano. I worked in restaurants for many years, and Employees like him are more valuable than gold. I can't imagine they're paying him well, yet he was enthusiastic and genuine and truly had passion for the food and helping his customers. Mariano single-handedly converted me from not wanting to eat at Tokyo Joe's, to a huge fan of the food- all in a single visit. This guy should be made GM at the very least. Yeah it's a chain, but it's run like a mom-and- pop establishment. It's "healthy" food in that there are no French fries or greasy meals. It's rice-based and is essentially proteins and a TON of mix-ins and sauces. It's well done. All in all, excellent dish, even better customer service. This is how an eatery should operate. Kudos. Food: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Atmosphere: 4/5 (your basic modern lunch place.)

Amazing service as always (there was a bit of a glitch on my account, but they worked together to solve it and all was A-Okay.) I ordered the Thai Noodle Bowl. It was my first time trying it, and I really enjoyed it. It was a bit on the spicy side, which is noted on the menu board and overlooked by me (oops), but I like spicy food. You could probably request that they hold off on the red pepper flakes, or.use a smaller amount. Tasty sauce, veggies, noodles, and 3 kinds of protein. Very filling. I opted for a water cup today, though I normally always enjoy their iced teas. I so appreciate the high level of service I always receive at Tokyo Joe's locations. This one and the Surprise AZ location are my go-to's. Clean restaurant as always, with employees cleaning tables and surfaces. Groovy music tracks were playing in the background. Thank you, Tokyo Joe's, for your consistently outstanding customer experience.

I had family visiting and they were craving halo halo on their last night here, so I found Backstreet Asia and drove them out here. We ordered the calamari first while waiting for dessert, but it was too salty. I had also ordered myself an ube ice cream while the other 3 got one halo halo for themselves -- all of which took a long time to come out, and we had to remind the servers twice about my ice cream. There weren't many other customers when we were there either. The ube ice cream ended up being 1 very small, stingy scoop, and my family was super disappointed when the halo halo arrived. It wasn't sweet at all and lacked many typical halo halo ingredients (the menu hadn't listed the ingredients so we assumed it would be there). When we asked for something to sweeten it like condensed milk, they said they didn't have it and only had syrup, which I found strange. We also had an uncomfortable interaction with the server too. In the end we brought the halo halo back home and added some of our own leche flan, buko pandan, and evaporated milk. It was disappointing we had to pay what we did for the taste we got. Maybe their other dishes are good, and I do think it's neat that they have a little setup for their occasional karaoke nights, but our experience with our orders and service were 2 stars

Get your ass in the car and eat here NOW!…read more Phenomenal. FLAVOR bomb! First time trying Cambodian cuisine and wow -- totally impressed. Flavor is honestly getting harder to find lately, but this place delivers BIG on flavor and especially on spice. They actually have spice levels from 2 all the way up to 15 (yes, fifteen ). I ordered a level 5 and my mouth was definitely on fire -- in a good way. Next time I might go even hotter because the heat didn't overpower the flavor, it enhanced it. Solid vegan options . My husband tried the Cambodian pho, which was a totally new experience for us since we've only ever had Vietnamese pho., Super comforting, really well balanced. Also huge shoutout to our server -- phenomenal service from start to finish. The restaurant itself is adorable too, with handmade art pieces and even beautiful purses imported from Cambodia for sale. Casual vibe, not fancy, but the food, spice, and service absolutely make it worth coming back. First Cambodian experience = a success. We'll definitely be back for more .

This restaurant offers both Thai and Cambodian fare which I thought was cool. The restaurant is clean and nicely decorated. The server appeared fairly new but was attentive and pleasant. For starers, we ordered the mini egg rolls (Lorts). They were similar to Philippine Lumpia and really good. We ate all eight! For our main course, we got shrimp lo mein, chicken curry soup and Mongolian beef. The curry was so spicy hot that we were warned that if we couldn't eat it, they wouldn't refund. I thought the lo mein was really good and loved the bean sprouts that were included in the dish. The Mongolian beef was a little bit of a surprise for me. It was good, but very sweet. It tasted like it was heavily sauced Hoisin. But, a lot of Thai dishes are sweet, so this was an interesting twist. I thought everything was good and enjoyed our visit. I would definitely return to try the host of other dishes. Definitely a must try.

Firstly, the staff was incredibly friendly. The girl behind the counter was very sweet and even brought our food out to us. As for the atmosphere, it's fine. Nothing too fancy, but it's clean and that's all that matters to me when I'm trying to get lunch. The food came out fast and overall, the favorite among my whole group was that the quesobirria tacos were the best. They were incredibly flavorful and the birria was very warm and comforting. I understand some people here on yelp had some feelings about the texture, but as a very texture-sensitive person, I was unbothered by the feel of the "meat". If you've ever had jackfruit meat before, you will be used to the texture. For the fish tacos, my partner said texture wise, it was very appealing. Pickled onions and cabbage were a good compliment to the battered cauliflower. Easy and light. My partner was very happy with his choice. Lastly, the surf and turf burrito- My friend said it was a nice texture throughout, a good mix of flavors, and he liked the size of the burrito. Thank you for the wonderful food, Tacos Veganos. I was so glad to actually be able to share food with my partner :)
