Shame he wasn't also on the menu because he looks like a snack. We started with the Empanadas with Chorizo, Potato, and Cheese. The appetizer portion comes with 5. These were very good, the dough tasted fresh like they were made to order. For our main entree we shared the Alebrije Parrillada for two. This gave us a good sampling of multiple meats and sides. Everything comes served in a hot molcajete. My favorite meats were the chorizo and the shrimp. My favorite bite overall was the toasted Oaxacan cheese. So good - I could've eaten an entire plate of just that. The rice and beans were decent, however the beans could have benefited from a little more salt. You can choose either flour or corn tortillas. My only qualm would be that there were some temperature inconsistencies among the various components. Some were borderline room temperature, like they had been cooked first; others were piping hot. Overall taste was great though. Will I return? Absolutely yes. If you're craving home-cooked style Mexican food that doesn't leave you feeling super heavy - this is the spot to try.
