I really wanted to enjoy this place, but unfortunately the food was a major disappointment. It honestly tasted like something pulled straight from the freezer and warmed up in the microwave. For the price, I just didn't feel like we got our money's worth. The croissants were complimentary, but even then, they were dry and underwhelming. I honestly would've preferred some warm cheddar-baked biscuits with little bits of cheddar throughout, brushed with a little honey butter. Now THAT would've been something! The ambiance didn't impress me either. The one bright spot was our waiter--he was absolutely awesome, attentive, friendly, and gave excellent service. We were out pretty late and looking for something that was open till at least 10 and we came across cheddars. We are pleased to see a bar and told it was open seating so that was a plus because there were people waiting to be seated.. service at the bar was friendly and we had drinks really quick. The Croissant rolls are too yummy. The Wisconsin Cheese Bites are a good choice for an appetizer. I selected the Fall-Off-The-Plate Baby Back Ribs with Red Beans & Rice and Green Beans as my sides. The taste of the green beans grew on me. A full rack is definitely two meals. The other orders were Steak & Chicken Tenders with Red Beans & Rice and French Fries, Fish & Shrimp with double Red Beans & Rice and Shrimp Alfredo. The Fish & Shrimp was enough for one meal. Ok, I don't know about these reviews here. I personally came with a family group and had a great time. Our server was by far the best I've had in a long time. I was shocked how many times he not only check on us, but the fact he carried all six entrees with him. He was on top of everything, funny, and just great at his job. Especially with how busy the night was. I was not expecting the croissants in the beginning. Like who decided to make some of the most complicated breads? They were light, fluffy, buttery, and sweet. Kind of reminded me of the taste of sweet bread with a crisp from the layers. I think it's genius of them to have this as their bread identity. I ordered the corn meal crusted white fish with red beans & rice and broccoli. It was a hefty plate and I definitely had leftovers. I loved the steamed broccoli and it had garlic sauteed with it. It was our first time trying this place out and it was okay. First impression is something that we notice when trying new places. The host seemed friendly but not welcoming when entering. She sat us at the bar where they had tables/booths there. I think the server assigned to our table was also the bartender. While waiting we played a trivia game on the kiosk on the table while we waited for our order. We didn't wait too long for our order and the service was good. Once we got the bill we noticed that we were charged for playing the trivia game, what?! I thought wow thats a tricky move by them. Just know if u do try this place out do not touch that kiosk as they will charge you. When we walked out there was three employees at the host table and didnt say anything to us which was weird as most places would say something like "thank you" or "have a good evening" which they did not. I tried it and thought it was just ok. He liked and enjoyed it so that's all that matters. I ordered the country fried chicken with country gravy. The chicken was crispy and juicy. It was really good. The gravy and mashed potatoes were delicious, the green beans could've been seasoned they were kind of bland. There was a piece of Texas toast under the chicken which I thought was unnecessary. Their croissants are melt in your mouth yummy! Casual and clean and it wasn't too busy when we arrived. It got a little busier before we left. The food took quite a while to come out. Not sure if that's normal or not but our waitress was super nice and attentive. The food is not the best but not the worst either. We tried the cheese curds and spinach dip as an appetizer which were great. For our entrees we had the BBQ ribs with broccoli casserole and corn, as well as the chicken pot pie. To be honest...Marie callenders frozen chicken pot pie is far more flavorful than cheddars. The ribs were ok, the flavor was great and the price was great but they were rather dry. Overall our experience was great because our server Ethan made it quite an enjoyable experience for us, as quality service is hard to come by nowadays. On this recent occasion we went to celebrate my birthday. The young lady who waited on us was neutral, not friendly but not rude well at least not until we were ready to leave. I asked her for change for a $20 since I like to leave cash as tips. She informed me I would have to wait for a while to get my change. Ok. I figured maybe a couple minutes. After watching her walk past us several times without any acknowledgment I press the service button. She came to the table with an attitude and said "do you need something?"! Yes, I need my change. We came in early evening on a Saturday and got a table right away! The hostess and waitress were very attentive and kind, giving us their full attention every time. I ordered creamy garlic tilapia and shrimp with seasoned rice and Cole slaw. It was a great combo!! The sauce paired the shrimp very well and the tilapia was crispy to the bite. The rice was a bit too salty in my opinion, but it is seasoned rice, so maybe that's normal. The ambiance is similar to your neighborhood restaurant chains. However, it does feel newer and cleaner. I was finally able to make it here and try some of the food , We had quite a large party and I would say the wait time was pretty good for showing up last minute they were able to get us in pretty quick. We were able to get are drinks and appetizers pretty quick. For apps we got the Onion Rings which were a good quantity but a little soggy for me I definitely prefer the beer battered type, We also got the Wisconsin Cheese bites and they were really good and came with a good amount. Now for the entrees I ended up getting the Monte Cristo which was good but different since it is like fair food and fried in batter but had really good flavor. We also got the Lemon pepper chicken with vegetables and I will say the chicken was amazing such good flavor and so juicy. I also forgot the complimentary croissants which were so so good definitely a nice addition upon arriving.We also got the Top Sirloin steak and ribs platter which my daughter said was so good and definitely a really good portion of food , needless to say there was plenty left to take home. Food: 3-stars - My friends and I had a pretty big order for take-out. We had 6 entrees and 4/6 were messed up somehow. My wife's chicken and broccoli Alfredo was dry (hardly any sauce), the chicken was rubbery and broccoli was soggy. Also, her garlic bread was soggy and had a foamy texture. My country fried chicken should have included fries and a side of broccoli but the person taking our order put down a baked potato instead of fries. My friend's Cesar salad was DRENCHED in dressing even though we requested for the dressing on the side. Another order of country fried chicken did not receive its correct sides. But apparently the T-Bone steak and cheeseburger meals were prepared properly and tasted pretty good. So overall, would like to give them another chance when dining in, but definitely did not like our first experience with from this Cheddars in Goodyear. Service: 3-stars - The person taking down our order must have had a tough time hearing our order over the phone because they messed up on quite a bit of details. Although our order was pretty bad, we called back to voice our complaints and the manager was able to give us a refund for 4 of the 6 entrees. I'm sure the manager was just fed up with hearing about our complaints, and offered that as a quick resolution; the manager was not apologetic and did not voice any sympathy. And when I said thank you, the manager just hung up. Pretty sure he could use some managerial training, but I get it, we're all human and can get irritated in the hospitality business. However, stellar customer service does still exist in this industry and it's unfortunate this place does not embody that. So 3 stars is pretty fair for my experience. Ambiance: Cannot give a fair review as we ordered for take-out. So will be giving update once we have a chance to dine in. Overall: 3-stars.
