Visiting AZ and stopped here to eat some lunch. Located a little bit North of the i10 freeway, it is easy to get to, and it has a nice large parking lot. Definitely not used to that in CA. When you walk in you are greeted promptly by employees and a large fish tank with bright colorful fish. To me it looks a lot larger inside than it does from the outside. The staff are nice, friendly, expedient, and checked in on us several times and brought water refills without even having to be asked. The menu has plenty of food choices, but no Turkey burger option, just beef burgers. They give you free honey butter croissants when your drinks come, and they are delicious and drizzled with honey butter. We got the chicken tender salad, the chicken tenders were good but the salad was plain, underwhelming, ok, average, nothing to write home about. I got the Monte Cristo, never tried it anywhere before, but had seen it once and always wanted to try it. Wow, yum, delicious. The Monte Cristo seems to be a great breakfast, lunch, or brunch option. It is a smoked ham and cheese sandwich dipped in batter and is like a French toast sandwich, but it is covered in powdered sugar and you get some jam/preserves to dip it in or slather on, and either way it is pretty tasty. Not sure what happened to Cheddar's but something has dreadfully changed. Visited today, welcomed by no hostess (no hostess was present when we left either). Finally, a woman showed up to seat my husband and I. As we walked by several uncleaned tables, she takes us to a table way back to a dark corner near the bar. (The place was nearly empty on a Friday at 12:30pm and this is the best you got?! Weird.) When I spoke up to say we'd prefer another table she turned and abruptly said "Well you choose!" We should've chosen the exit. Though it took a while for service to arrive, our server Alan D was nice and accommodating. The take away here...Cheddar's should realize that there are many other places to choose from these days for a meal in our area. They once had it together. It seems they lost their way. This is a fun place to eat. They have an upbeat atmosphere and my server was no different. When it comes to the food, they are pretty similar to the other neighborhood diners; you know, like baby back ribs guys and the eatin' good in the neighborhood guys (although I like Cheddar's more.) My wife and I had a chicken pot pie and a salad. The salad was really good and the pot pie was not bad, not great. But the service tonight made the difference. The server was happy and the manager was engaged. I believe his name was Tim. He was out and about in the restaurant helping the other workers and socializing with guests. That's the kind of thing that made a difference between these guys and some of the others. We have to try southern food when we visit Arizona. This place met all our expectations or went above. Service was awesome, and the food was great. My favorite items are, Cajun pasta, coconut shrimps and hamburger. Chicken fried steak was in the bland side but the sides were delicious. I tried Maui margarita. It's great on a hot day. The server was very attentive and polite. She made us feel very comfortable. Can't ask for more. If you want to try southern food, don't miss this place. Walked in tonight on a recommendation. Monday night and the place is dead! Sat at the bar and was hoping to have a drink and the salmon salad. I asked the "unwelcoming "lady" at the bar if they had Drambui and she said no. I don't think she even knew what it was. She asked me if I wanted anything, I told her water. She gave me a "look." I knew it was not good and when she laid down the menu she gave me 39 seconds and asked if I knew what I wanted. No salutation, no way to work it for a gratuity. I told her I just sat down and would need a moment. That moment was for me to get up and leave. It's just such a turn off when service looks like they're put out cuz you're there. We are closer to Chandler but we're out and about in the neighborhood so gave it a try..Place was packed and we ordered the Chicken Pot Pie with a salad, my wife got the Cornmeal Whitefish with Brocolli Casserole and Baked Potato, and I tried the Meatloaf with mashed potatoes and brown gravy and a house salad. Second time here! First time was 2 years ago! I came with my friend for a Valentines Day date. The food was delicious! We ordered the queso fries as an appetizer and they were good! I orders the steak and chicken tenders! They were delicious and the tenders were nice and crispy! I got mashed potatoes since we had the queso fries already and they were pretty good, the gravy was not bad but next time I will try them with cheese and bacon. I had the ribeye as I've been dying for a steak lately but it's just been too hot to grill one in my backyard. It was seasoned nicely and cooked to perfection. The blue cheese dressing had a nice zip but the salad was mostly shredded carrots, which was underwhelming. Top notch food and fast service. This is a new restaurant in the west valley. The line is usually super long. We went during the day and had to wait 20 minutes. They have a large selection of cocktails, appetizers and main dishes. Portions are large and everything is homemade. Kids meals are only $4.99 and come with a drink. Portions are decent for kids too. I had the chicken pot pie, which was delicious. I was a little disappointed that it only had a top crust though. I came here for the crust! Lol. It was flaky and the pot pie part had good flavor. My husband had the New Orleans Pasta. It has a mix of Shrimp, chicken, smoked sausage, peppers and onions in a spicy alfredo sauce. He said it was delicious! Our kids had the kids meals. One kid had the kids junior burger (1/4 lb patty) and fries. My other 2 kids had penne pasta marinara. All of the food was delicious and served really fast. I decided to treat myself. Everything sounded so good. It was difficult deciding but I ended on the ribeye. It was really good but fairly fatty. It was marinated well though.
