Good people, good food, good prices. I think I can safely say this is literally the best corned beef hash ever. So over the top good with homemade corned beef. I wanted more. Banana River Cafe is proof that the smell of bacon can make you forgive almost anything…read more First, a fun fact: they're operated by a CIA graduate. No, not that CIA. The Culinary Institute of America. Our daughter actually graduated from their Baking & Pastry program in San Antonio, so we were already inclined to give the place a try. But I digress. The moment you walk in, the smell of bacon smacks you right in the face. In the best possible way. So. Dang. Good. We stopped in on a busy Sunday afternoon. The dining room was hopping. A few tables could have been bussed a little quicker, my chair needed a quick swipe-down before I sat, and there were a few chips hanging out on the floor. Normally I'd notice those things more, but then the bacon smell hit again and suddenly none of it seemed quite as important. I ordered two perfectly cooked over-medium eggs, sliced tomatoes (instead of potatoes), and a biscuit. I chose the biscuit over toast or an English muffin with absolutely no intention of eating it. My plan was to take it home for one of the kids. Then I took one bite. Friends, this was THE best biscuit I have ever eaten in my entire life. I don't throw around statements like that lightly. If you visit Banana River Cafe and order absolutely nothing else, order the biscuits. They deserve their own Yelp page. My husband got what I think was called the Power Bowl--a delicious-looking pile of rice, beans, carnitas, and all the ingredients that make a great burrito bowl. Our son absolutely housed his French toast. Our daughter ordered the Rosemary Chicken Salad Wrap with pasta salad. I sampled the chicken salad. It had a whisper of rosemary. A polite suggestion of rosemary. A rosemary cameo appearance. If you're going to call it Rosemary Chicken Salad, I'd personally vote for a little more rosemary. My daughter loved it, though. She also loved the pasta salad but wasn't a fan of the Parmesan sprinkled on top. If Parmesan must be involved, let's keep it to the kind that comes from a block and not the green plastic shaker. Just my two cents. The staff was friendly, service was great, and soda refills appeared before we even had to ask. I also loved the local artwork displayed throughout the restaurant. Every piece has a price tag, so if something catches your eye, you can literally take it home with you. Great food, great service, incredible biscuits, and enough bacon aroma to improve your mood instantly. We'll definitely be back.

Location is honestly perfect, it's one of the only breakfast spots directly on the beach, besides a parking lot the ocean access is like 200 ft from the back. 9:30 on a Sunday, there was about a 10/15 min wait because limited cook staff. The menu has some really unique items. I ordered the scramble but honestly was intrigued by the tacos, perhaps next time. The sorbet mimosa was interesting, clearly fresh but maybe too many seeds for my liking. Our server was nice, but overall the organization of the restaurant reflects in the service. Many waitresses were just all over the place and it just was not being run very well. The wait to get the check was a bit much. Perhaps on off day but I'll definitely be back.

Morning Glory has an old diner vibe to it with its retro decor and outdoor patio to enjoy the warmth. The wait staff is nice enough and was accommodating when trying to change an order. The food itself was good if not a little small. The eggs Benedict left a little more room in my stomach than I would have liked for the price and I fear that this diner is another victim of shrinkflation where the prices stayed the same but the portion sizes shrank. Either way it was a nice enough experience and good for a small quick bite to eat.

From the outside it does look a little run-down, but inside the place is nice and clean. Decor is the usual beachy/fishy themed artwork/signs that seem to be popular at non-chain restaurants in this area. I used the ladies room and it was very well-kept. I opted for a bowl of oatmeal since I already ate more than my fair share of pancakes this past week. I think it was about $4.00, but it was a generous serving (the cup size would have probably been sufficient.) It was served with brown sugar, milk, and raisins on the side. It's hard to mess up oatmeal, but this was pretty great! I also had a scrambled egg. It was one of the better eggs I ate while I was in town - it was not at all greasy, oily, runny, or dried out and rubbery. It was Just right. My husband ordered a Belgian waffle. I must admit it wasn't the prettiest waffle I've ever seen, but he said it was actually awesome. He also got turkey sausage links that were also great - I know this because I snagged half of one from him. Lily's was a little bit more expensive than the other local places we tried during our stay, but it was definitely one of the better experiences. We will be back!

Richard took my research of local @restaurants to go to Le French tonight for dinner. It turns out…read morethe restaurant was walking distance from his condo. He didn't know it was there. It is a small cafe run by a man and his wife. The husband is the chef and the wife handles the front. Richard was not familiar with French food by now he is. We started with sharing tender ramekin of escargots that were cooked perfectly with butter, garlic and fresh parsley. He never had it before but he did try one then grab another then I taught him to take the crusty French bread and soak up the garlic butter. We both ordered the beef bourguignon which is my favorite French dish. We both enjoyed it but it was not as rich and flavorful as I have had in the past. For dessert I had the chocolate mousse which was yummy and could not finish it all. Richard had the perfectly cooked and well presented lava cake which I will get next time when I come. The icing on the cake was that a family was eating dinner with grandparents, sons, Daughers and grandchildren. As the grandmother went to the restroom she stopped by to say what a joy it was to watch the two of us talk and enjoy each other. The grands who were 7 and 5 also chatted with us and asked me lots of questions about the places that I have visited. The son and DIL were from the country of Jordan. They were all delightful. He gave me some advise about Poland. When we left the restaurant, there was a full moon over the ocean which added a special accent to the day. At 10:20 tonight there is a SPACE X rocket ship blasting off from Cape Canaveral. We will watch it from the beach!!!!

The food was PHENOMINAL! My friend had the tomato basil quiche and I had the pepper jack chorizo Benedict--both on their specials of the day menu--and both were the best we've ever had. To our surprise they had split the order into two plates for us. That rarely happens and we appreciated that. The omelette was stuffed full, the home fries had a nice crisp to them. I asked for brown sugar for my grits but was told they didn't have any. But they were able to provide honey for me to satisfy my sweet tooth. Very good and if you haven't been there yet just go! I'd love to review the food, but I've never actually made it that far. The "bartenders" seem to operate under the impression that customers are an unfortunate side effect of working in a bar. I spent a decade behind the stick myself, so I understand bad shifts, shitty customers, being slammed, and wanting to throw a bar rag at someone. But these people appear genuinely offended that you had the audacity to walk in, sit down, and attempt to give them money. Management might want to consider a controlled burn followed by a complete rebuild. Seriously, if your resting facial expression says, "I fucking hate you and everything about this place," maybe hospitality isn't your calling. There are plenty of careers where interacting with humans is optional. And spare me the "restaurant business is tough" excuse. Sandbar manages to employ people who don't look like they're serving a prison sentence. Long Doggers somehow finds employees capable of making eye contact without conveying pure contempt. So apparently it can be done. At this point, I have no idea if the food here is amazing, terrible, or prepared by a Michelin-starred raccoon in the back. I'll probably never know, because I can't survive the first line of defense long enough to order it. Maybe management should stop worrying about getting people through the door and start asking why the people behind the bar seem so pissed off that they came.
