Called this location today because I arrived after hours on Saturday and found I could not access my box without a code. Saw a woman enter, access her box and leave. Today, I was told that that service was not available. I said okay and asked that name of the person I was speaking to. I was told something that I couldn't make out. I said "okay. Thank you." Then hung up. I got a call back and didn't answer because I felt it would be something messy and wanted to leave the whole situation behind. Good thing I did. This store is conveniently located and open on Sundays. I arrived at 3:15 pm on a Sunday and only one young man was working. (This was 45 minutes before closing. He was great and professional, but the store was understaffed. They need to hire more people. The man in front of me needed several notaries completed. By 4:00 pm. There was still two people in front of me and 8 behind me. This was unfair to your employee and customers. I hope they bring on new team members. read more

As a business supply clerk who orders supplies, receives an email stating that the delivery cannot be delivered due to address information not being correct. Rechecked the mailing address on the order print out it is correct. Logged on to UPS Store the delivery address has a zip code for Vaivere, Kaarma, Saaremaa, Estonia. AMAZING!!!! Mailbox service here is *pricey* - leaps and bounds more than mom & pop offerings. When I was filling out the forms, I wanted to do it as the nonprofit (acting as an authorized agent of the business), but I was instructed to fill out the form with my individual information as the boxholder, since I was presenting a passport as a form of identification. This move turned out to be calculated, I later realized. More on that in a bit. The employees here are super nice. Like greet-you-by-name nice, and in a genuine way. It was almost always a pleasure to pop into the store to pick up my mail and packages. At times, this store can be overrun and busy. Definitely around the holidays, but even randomly at other times, the line will be out the door. Scheduling is a mess and leaves these poor employees short-staffed at times. Speaking of management, the owner is *wholly unreasonable*. Yes, I'll leave that sentence all by itself there for emphasis. Getting back to the putting *my* name on the contract. . . As I mentioned, I intended to rent the service in the name of the nonprofit. I'm not the only one who gets mail or receives packages. The first time another member of the organization received a package, the little slip in our box had a question mark on it, and when I brought it to the counter, they told me the person's name wasn't on the list. They told me it was an additional $10 per month to add additional names. What?! I'm not going to add everyone's name and pay $10 per month per person. That's insane. I was then informed that that was the only way, unless any package was addressed to both the organization AND bore the correct box number. OK, that's a bit of a pain to make sure you always get it right (and that shippers always get it right - because sometimes they address gets jacked up on the sender's end). That's a pain, but it's (somewhat) reasonable. Fast forward a few months later, and two packages arrive for our Communications Director, over two consecutive days. We didn't get a notice, but we were expecting it, so I knew to ask. That's a symptom that either the box number was missing, or the company name was missing, and they're about to give me grief about it. Sometimes, even though you put a business name in your order, the shipper will neglect to include that, or they'll munge the unit number etc. This was one of those times, and the business name wasn't there. The few times that's happened, I was reminded of the requirements, and then they formally log in the package and print the slip and have me sign it. On this occasion, the gal just gave me the package and told me to just take it without logging it. I thought that was odd, but I later figured out that she probably didn't want to get in trouble with the raging boss. When the second package arrived the next day, I got a call from said raging boss going on about how too many exceptions have been made, and that I needed to formally add our other names to the box. I went to the store, and long story short, the woman basically held that package hostage, and insisted I pay $10 on the spot to add other names to the account (and $10 each month), in order to release the package. She was being entirely unreasonable and unaccommodating, insisting that I was never told something that I was - and something significant enough that we (as an organization) made changes to the way we order things. What I found even more astounding was that this woman (who it turns out is the Franchise owner), would rather bicker about $10 than have the actual business. When I told her that she was being unreasonable, and that we weren't inclined to renew our contract, she still stayed her course. Yes, that $10 was more important to her than the $600 for the renewal. I guess math is different for some people. When I relayed this story to our team, one of them tried to call the next day to have a conversation with the manager/owner. When she finally got hold of her two days later, the owner ranted a bit and then hung up. My teammate turned to me and said, "Holy S---! That woman is completely psycho!" Oh, what happened to the hostage package? The crazy owner refused to release it and returned it to the sender. I could not be more relieved to disassociate with this business. When I turned in my key a few days later, I said goodbye to all the cool employees and apologized if they saw the frustrated side of me. They reassured me that it was fine, and that they completely understood. I added, "If she's like that with paying customers, I can't imagine how poorly she might treat her employees." One person whispered, "It's not easy", but the forlorn looks I got back said it all, and I knew that it must be a toxic environment. I was awash with even more gratitude for the pleasant demeanor they had all shared with me each time I came in. If I pass by this store, I may wave to the employees to say hi, but there is no way I would ever spend another penny at this business. read more

I notarized and sent legal documents last week, all via UPS at this store. The package was delivered to the wrong address in the same building, and in their brilliance, they could not locate the package for another 5-7 days. Given that these were legal documents that needed to arrive on time, I requested a refund for the notary and shipment, a cost of over $75. I was told no refund would be given until the document was located. So, to recap, I missed the deadline. I am out over $75, and they could not be bothered to contact or update me regarding their lack of service. Even though I was told I would be updated. My advice is to avoid UPS. There is no customer service at the store or at the 800 number. read more

I can't believe I'm reviewing a UPS store, but if you've been waiting for a UPS package from the Oakland distribution center, you'd understand why. My package was sent out for delivery on June 8th. It is now July 9th and I just picked up my package. Grrrrrrr. So basically, anything going into Oakland's main hub is completely backed up. I'm talking weeks of over 30,000 packages (as of today per the employee) backed up. Crazy. My package was purchased in early June for Father's Day, which has obviously come and gone. I got really tired of the "Out for Delivery" status every day and decided to redirect my package to a smaller UPS store. I chose Piedmont Ave.'s location because Grand Ave.'s line is usually ten deep. Piedmont Ave. was practicing social distancing, friendly and most importantly, FAST. I was in and out in a few minutes and on my way with my package. Hallelujah. I'm likely not using UPS again anytime soon but if I do, you can be sure I'll have it redirected back to this store. read more

I've had so many mixed experiences at UPS stores in general so coming here I was not expecting much. But wow! The staff was SO incredibly kind, patient, and understanding despite it being close to closing and a super busy time in general with people coming into the store and a delivery driver coming in and out with packages. It was two guys and they were both incredibly patient and just kind. It makes a huge and noticeable difference when the staff knows what they're doing and are accommodating. NEVER EVER GO HERE. EVER. Unless you're doing a hands free Amazon dropoff. This is an INDEPENDENTLY OWNED STORE. I needed to return an Amazon item. There is a print shop. I mailed the packing slip to print, which is 0.35 per page, 1 page. I was quoted that price. When I arrived, it took them forever to find the email. They then printed it out. Charged me .35 and AN ADDITIONAL$5 handling fee for shipping cuz I had it printed out there. Further, I wanted to ship a 4 oz item to New York. I asked for the CHEAPEST RATE. I was quoted $26.00. I repeated asked for the CHEAPEST RATE. The item cost $14 with shipping. Online, the cheapest rate is $10.15. So, unless you are doing an absolute FREE dropoff for a return, DON'T GO THERE. Whomever owns this franchise has opted to capture profits by being not honest to customers. read more

This is a store that I felt would be neighborly. I went in and was waited on by Susan who was in a bad mood. I informed her she should watch her tone in how she respond to people it's not professional and friendly. She then said nothing is wrong with my tone and became argumentative. I came in for a quick copy but had to pay for bad unprofessional customer service. Then the rep next to Susan by the name of Mace had to say that she has a language barrier. I told her it's not her language barrier she is having a bad day. Tonicity, smile and coutesy Mace goes along way. Mace than wants to go back and forth with me argumentatively while she is waiting on someone else telling me to let it go and drop it. Mace you don't throw a log into a burning flame. You and Susan are very unprofessional and discourteous to customers. Apparently all the negative reviews this store gets says it all. Shantel as a manager you should want better for your store and train your employees on good customer service and not to be argumentative so that you can have repeater service and steady revenue. read more

My son dropped off his computer to be returned for warranty repair. Ten days later I call the company and they have not received it. Tracking the # shows that a "label was created but never shipped". I go to the store and they confirm this. They start a "tracking" of the package which will take 8 to 10 days. I hadn't told my son to get additional insurance so we have their minimal coverage. I will update if they find the box but not holding my breath. read more

Come to find out it was mixed up because the the Arizona person contacted the person it was supposed to go to in New York!! And facilitated getting the box to them. This store has lost my Amazon returns twice and refuses to take any accountability. Shital, who claimed to be the owner and I found it she is not, was so rude and nasty it was truly unbelievable. With my first return on December 1, the store claimed they didn't accept it, however, it took 10 days to reflect on my Amazon account, so indeed they did take my return. A staff member even looked at the camera footage to confirm that I was in the store and made returns and still said they didn't accept my package. Yesterday, the same thing happened and while it was my responsibility for losing my receipt, when I asked Shital to look at the camera footage to confirm the return was made, she told me the cameras are not working. I was told, "If you lost your receipt, that is your problem, not ours!" I would rather drive 20 miles to find another UPS location than patronize the Piedmont Avenue store. read more

If your response to all of the many negative Yelp reviews is "I do not think we did anything wrong", then I think you might have done a few things wrong. Asking a nonprofit to pay extra per month per volunteer is outrageous. My packages were confiscated and never returned to the sender, so I can only assume they were stolen, as I never received a refund from Amazon. We were looking for a package delivery service, not a theft service. Also, if you continue to treat your customers like garbage, you won't have any. You can continue to be defensive or you can change and maybe people will want to work with you. Choose your own adventure. read more

I dropped off a package with important documents on 8/16/21. So far the service was good and friendly. At this point the problem started: tracking the package did not show any progress for several days, the online tracking screen showed "label created". Several days later I called the main UPS number asking about the package, alas, I was told that the "return address" was wrong. What does that mean? I have no idea. I asked that the package be returned to me. Several days later, still, no progress. I called the addressee, who told me that nothing had arrived. I then came in to the store, asked to talk to the supervisor, Shital. The exchange with her was quite miserable right from the onset. She was defensive as we started the discussion. I told her that I had no criticism of her personally, that I was frustrated with the overall process of the simple action of sending documents. She said things like "you don't understand", which is simply not courteous. One does not talk like that to customers. When finally the documents arrived at the UPS store, we talked again, I simply asked her again what had happened, why the "return address" was wrong. At that point I was unclear that the package had been delivered and what I got was the returned documents that I had been waiting to received for so long (10 days.) Instead of saying nicely that she was unsure what exactly "wrong return" address meant, Shital raised her voice. I again told her that it has nothing to do with her personally, that this is just frustration with the overall service. It did not help, she was still rude and not cooperating with a frustrated customer. So to wrap it up: there was nothing wrong in the process with the local UPS store, it was a poor handling of the package in the big picture. It was the supervisor who had no answer to any of my question, and her poor demeanor. Very frustrating. I will never return to this store. read more

Everyone I encountered is pleasant except the Indian lady who has the henna on her hands. We were informed that we don't have enough document to get things done in our 2nd trip here, and it's fine. But she was just terrible from the beginning and it's just unnecessary. We have brought dog to this place multiple times and there was a dog when I was there. But when my husband came in with the dog, she immediately kicked us out. We I hope she will be able to find a different job that she can enjoy better. read more

Ever since started I started shopping and returning items to Amazon I have really appreciated "my" UPS Store on Piedmont Ave. Here are a few of the reasons: Easy/quick to drop off Amazon packages. They accept all those Amazon bubble pack envelopes for "recycling". (They can Not be put in city recycling, only trash) I found out today they have a mail drop box for USPS mail. AND they sell USPS stamps!!! If anyone tries to use the Piedmont Station Post Office you know you need to allot 20-30 minutes to wait in line .... and unlike UPS they are NOT friendly and courteous Everyone at UPS is helpful, friendly and courteous. UPDATE: As you can see in the reply from the store, just below my review, there was a promise to reach out to me and refund me 50% of the cost. Well, just over 3.5 weeks since the store replied with that comment they have not reached out to me, they have not refunded me, nor have they returned my message about how I can receive the refund from them. Again, don't go to this location. There is a much better location, with significantly better customer service just around the corner at: 5627 Telegraph Ave, Oakland, CA 94609 tl;dr version: they charged me an arm and a leg for 2-day shipping, never scanned the package into the tracking system so was unable to have updates on its progress or tell me where it was when it went missing, package arrived 9 days later, refused to refund me, lied about UPS corporate policy around refunds I paid for the 2-day delivery of a package, but it arrived 9 days later, and was not showing up in the UPS tracking system for the first 4 days after paying and shipping. When I was communicating with the staff at this UPS location about my concern, trying to figure out where my package was, they were unable to provide me with any information because it never got scanned. When the package finally arrived at the destination I reached out for a refund and staff at this UPS location told me that they would not be providing me with a refund at this time, citing policies around the Corona Virus pandemic. They also told me that if I had concerns about this, I could reach out to the corporate UPS office and ask them for a refund. Which I did. When talking to the UPS corporate office I was told that because the UPS location was a franchise that the refunds would not be honored by UPS corporate, again, citing pandemic reasons. But I was also told that the franchise location had the right, and the ability, to offer returns at this time if they chose to. Ultimately, I contacted the Piedmont location one more time to see about getting my money back and they told me that I was wrong and that even if they wanted to offer a refund there was nothing they could do about it. They once again told me that UPS corporate would not allow a refund to be provided, which I now know not to not be true based on the conversations and information provided by the UPS corporate website and the phone call I had with them. read more

While it was a frustrating circumstance, the customer service I received from Ana at this location was absolutely phenomenal. She was incredibly patient, empathetic and proactively followed up with me to ensure I was kept in the loop. She truly went above and beyond. read more
