Line always out the door, one single person working register, typically a woman w reddish hair who's extremely inefficient

I don't like leaving reviews this may very well be my first ever. I live over in Madison CT and ship a high volume of customers items that come in for repair at the FedEx office and Branford ct. Fedex does a wonderful job packing and shipping. The employees are always very positive. I am originally from Guilford born and raised. I just finished my work, and I had a small item I had to ship, figured it would be safe to ship ups. So I decided to run over to the ups store which isn't nearly as far as the FedEx office. I go into the store, I see two employees, two women at the counter being helped and another two women just standing talking no where near the counter. The two women at the counter finished their transaction and left. I had the small item in my hand wrapped in bubble wrap. I then held it up and asked one of the two people behind the counter if they had an envelope, in a nice calm voice. I didnt say ups envelope but assumed he would know what I meant. As it was to large for a regular envelope. Getting an envelope is Standard when I go to fedex, figured was the same for ups. The older employee with white hair had an attitude, held up an envelope and said only have an envelope for express and if I wanted another I would have to pay. He then said what are you doing do you want to ship something. All of this was said to me with an obvious attitude. I thought about it all for a second and said I'm all set I'll go to FedEx. As I got to the door, I heard someone say what a a hole but the whole word. I poked my head back in and said this is why I do not ship here. So, I ended up leaving and as I was driving, I called the store. A man picked up and I asked if he was the one with the white hair, he responded yes. I asked who the owner was, and he responded I am. I let him know I planned on shipping I didn't care what it cost. Maybe 15 bucks??? Seriously I have never ever not even remotely been treated like this in a store. And he was the owner!!!!! I will never go back I'll continue with FedEx. read more

My wife and I buy from Amazon frequently and need to return items. This is the only UPS store in the area and Staples stores where you can just bring in the box without original packaging and they take it and give you a receipt. I really don't understand why this UPS store doesn't have higher ratings. Every single other store wants all the original packaging which usually is thrown out. The Staples store i went to told me to cancel the return and start over, I said but its past the window to return, Oh she said. Plus they have Finnegan the dog who is great. read more

Only ever had to do Amazon returns at this location, but have always had a pleasant experience. The staff here is extremely polite and patient with all customers. They take their time with each customer and helps them with their packages. All my interactions have been pleasant. Easy to do Amazon returns, only takes a few seconds for them to scan the code and give you your receipt. They also offer other services that I have not yet needed, but have seen others use and, again, be handled with care. They are great. I wrote a brief dissertation from my other gmail. Speaking of does anyone heard of having an account that they completely don't recognize associated with their Gmail account. It's like ThompsStreet@gmail or something and I just don't understand and I'm trying to add my work email and it won't take it because it's not "gmail" and it's only google all the time. I usually have no issues with this location but the woman (brown hair (glasses) who took care of me today was extremely rude, starting with the way I was called over to the counter. I was completing an easy Amazon return and she asked me to increase my brightness which I did and then she proceeded to ask- "did you even brighten it?" I get we all have bad days and work can be stressful but as a customer service representative at least some politeness would be appreciated. I felt like an inconvenience, rushed and like I was doing something wrong. read more

Been using this store for a long time now and was just there again today. They were very busy, but even so the very personable gentleman at the counter who assisted me had a great sense of humor, thanking the fellow who was ahead of me for being so organized. I had a prepaid item to ship from an eBay sale and didn't have a box to ship it in. He said, "I'll just have to charge you for a box," rang me up and said, "I got you!" Gave me a shipping box-for free. Is it a high ticket item? No, but the kind gesture didn't get by me by any means. read more

2nd experience and not as good as the first who was a nice accommodating woman, even during the holidays. Today was a grumpy dude who was condescending and snippy. It's frustrating to look up return codes because their internet is slow and so is cellular so be sure to print or take a photo of your codes before going to return Amazon items. I walked out without returning all my items. I will be going elsewhere in the future, don't need this nonsense! read more

Go somewhere else! This store is a nightmare. Two out of 4 times I have been snarled at and the other two times, they are just rude. I have never experienced such unpleasantness at any store, much less UPS. It doesn't even merit one star. read more

I had an amazon return (3 shirts) I mistakenly thought it was all under one QR refund cone, when, in fact, there were two. I gave them one of the codes and they scanned it. On the way home I realized there was a second code. I turned around went back to the store asked them to scan the second code so I would get a refund on all three items. They told me it would be too difficult to go through all of the boxes, I was looking right at the box and I had my receipt, all they needed to do was open the box verify there were three items and scan my code but the refused. This is what customer service looks like in now a very sad state, and the store at the time had one person other then myself in it, with two people working,,what should have been an easy fix turned into me having to spend 45 minutes of my time on the phone with Amazon. Today I visited this location to send a package out. Doing a favor for a friend. The young lady who waited us greeted us as we walked in. She's very polite and friendly. Because of her attitude it's the only reason why I gave three stars instead of one. She definitely attempted to resolve the issue. Label needed was missing two parts so she asked her supervisor could she still used the one we had; however the supervisor told her no and the same thing the employee told us two parts were missing. Instead of supervisor saying o us. I understand that the required parts to mail your item is missing but here's the other option especially if you don't know if the person can come back. So I had to asked her so what's the NEXT STEP. Deanna explained that since the required part of the label was missing the original her option was pay for shipping. Deanna kudos to you your have a great attitude and more of you are needed in jobs.Your supervisor was too focused and caught up on the missing parts of the shipping label instead of looking for a SOLUTION which Deanna found for us. read more

This place is like no other. Missy and Laura are friendly, knowledgeable and soooo helpful. They answer all my questions when I'm there and make sure I get personal service. Try them for mailing packages as well as sending returns to various companies. read more

I just was at this store, shipping out a package. I witnessed a very rude encounter. A woman walked up to the register next to me to pay for copies. She was older, maybe in her early 80's. The man asked her "how many copies?" She responded "27." He then said "27? For an hour's worth of work?" He then went over and checked the machine and talked to someone in the back of the store. Meanwhile, she was saying to him "there was a man before me who made copies. I don't know how many he had". Turns out - she was being honest. He cashed her out and didn't apologize for his assumption that she was lying. UNBELIEVABLE. read more

Very poor customer service at the Guilford CT UPS Store. The older guy was rude, unfriendly and bitter because i misunderstood what he was saying awhile he was rolling a cart through the door. I had a prepaid label package and i accidentally put it at the wrong spot. I thought it was a simple drop off. Go to the Clinton CT UPS store. They treat you a lot better. read more

They kept on charging me 61.00 and 59.00 for tho small (less than 3 pounds each) packages that were being sent to PR. . I kept on telling the employee do not use international rate. The manager came over and said that was the correct rate but would not explain it. They would not demonstrate why the cheapest way would be that expensive. I left and went to the post office where I sent the two packages . I ended up paying for PRIORITY MAIL $ 20.00 and $ 22.00 respectively. I will never be going back there. GH. read more

I visited this location to have a document notarized and mailed. I called prior to arriving to confirm the notary was in. When I arrived there was as a line out the door. I waited patiently for 20 minutes. When it was my turn, the notary told me that he did not have time to notarize and I would need to wait for all other customers to ship packages. I only needed 2 pages notarized which would have taken a few minutes compared to others that were mailing multiple packages. As a customer, I was treated differently and not a priority for this notary after spending my time and gas to visit this location. This notary is absolutely horrible and extremely poor customer service. I also plan to contact UPS directly. read more

1/2015 Update.. This place is still a gem. I brought in some really big boxes- forgot to print my return labels for a few of the boxes. They held my boxes (overnight into the next afternoon) during a very busy Christmas shipping time (week before Christmas- and these boxes were HUGE) No problems- no hassles. I left over $1K in merchandise there- no name, no nothing, but these people are very trustworthy. A wonderful UPS store, thank you! read more

Thanks to Sharon S. She reminded me that THIS is the store she is talking about. She has been emailing me via yelp to tell me "I flagged your post" and had it deleted. She is under some pretense I was never there (at the ups Store Guilford). Are you kidding me I waited for so long inside The ups store guilford to send a pkg. So slow. So Flash forward a month and Sharon is back. Lashing out via email.... Now I can not get Sharon to stop harassing me because You store treated a customer poorly as well as their business. I have repeatedly asked her to stop. Sharon has sent me harassing emails and threatened me over my now deleted post of this business. Bottom line It was a horrible experience that took nearly a month to get pkg. Would never use them again So now Sharon has threatened and harassed me with her family. She claims I threatened her .. She is well Sharon. She emailed me again after a month, out of the blue saying "I am forwarding your threats to my uncle who is with the FBI, and BTW, my husband is a lawyer and my brother is a CT state trooper. Have a ball. Too bad you didn't stop to think...CA to CT...interstate laws apply. Sucks to be you." So how does one deal with this? A negative review created all this anger from Sharon. Unbelievable. Guilford UPS store you know how I feel about doing business with you. Please call off sharon. It is harassment. read more

The guys there make sending a package like going to the bank quick and painless. Had a 98 pound safe today that had to be returned to the online retailer I purchased it from. And as usual they made me feel like I'm the only customer in the place and made me feel like number one. Processed the return gave me a receipt took 2 minutes now that's service! read more

I use UPS in GUilford a lot and have always found them to be extremely professional and friendly and efficient. I don't know what this other reviewer is talking about. They have great greeting/birthday etc cards too, best in town. I like these people a lot, and have always gotten great service. A bit more expensive than USPS but hardly ever a line! read more

I went in with a preprinted label for an amazon return but I didn't have a envelope for it so I figured it would take a while to get everything sorted, especially considering how long it takes for the same exact service at the post office. But I went in and the salesman took my label and asked for the two dollars for the envelope and said he would take care of it. I was inside for probably less than 30 seconds. It was such quick service I was actually shocked! read more

This UPS store is THE best place for mailing anything! I've lived in Madison since 1970 and I use them exclusively for all my packages and important documents. Super fast in and out and unfailingly friendly service. As for the 1-star reviewer, I looked at "MD"'s profile: of the 17 reviews, 13 were 1 star. I'm amazed that Yelp has not removed the post here. No specifics in that post, just nasty. read more
