I wanted to drop off an Amazon return. It was boxed but not sealed in case anyone wanted to check contents. They would not accept it without flaps being closed and sealed and would not provide a 6" length of tape to do so without payment of $1. Absolutely appalling service. This is by far the worst UPS location I have ever visited. I went to the HAMPDEN UPS for the first time to drop off a few packages, and I very much regret it. The store appeared to be run by youngsters who were rude and dismissive toward me, a senior in my eighties. I brought properly labeled envelopes, stapled at the ends, and asked the clerk (a young man with red cheeks) if he could help seal them, since I had run out of tape at home. He told me it would cost $1 per envelope just to add a tape. When I picked up their stapler to add a couple more staples myself, he made a scene and refused to accept my packages, handing them back and telling me to ship them elsewhere. The lack of courtesy and professionalism here was shocking, and I will not be returning. read more

I thought I had to leave a small box open so they see the merchandise I'm returning matches the label. They refused to tape it for me. I had to walk back to my car a block away to bring my own tape. I had to send some important visa documents that had to be delivered by UPS. The staff was incredibly helpful with all my questions and requests. They did everything quickly too. I was pleasantly surprised by this UPS store. The facility is clean and everything is in order. There's plenty of parking space around. work people are nice and super respectful, but each time i ship, whether under my name, or my dependent son goes to ship, i am supposed to get a discount, and they continue to not give it to me. The discount was because I had a mailbox there for my business. Well, no more. I canceled the box today. They are also supposed to seal the boxes for me as well.. and had to pay for that as well. So, be weary, when you have a mailbox, they come up with reasons why not to give a discount. First time, oh we didn't know. Second time, your son's name is not on the mailbox, but he was SHIPPING for me. Whatever. Be weary. read more

Located near Bethesda Row this store is my go-to when shipping Amazon products back. The parking lot offers 30 minutes of parking for free which is perfect for dropping off packages. There's usually two or three customers in the store but this location always has enough staff to make sure you aren't waiting around. They offer printing services that I have seen people utilize but the prices are somewhat high. Keep in mind they are closed on Sundays so don't wait to run your errands here then. read more

I don't understand all of the negative comments left for this location- maybe they motivated some much needed change in recent weeks? Overall, I had a very pleasant experience here dropping off a Poshmark item I was selling (already with a shipping label attached) and three other documents to be shipped to different addresses. Brendan was kind and patient, despite having to enter in three different addresses at a time when there were several other costumers in line. The store was clean and there were three employees, 2 working the counter and one guy manning the phones/ packages in the back. 4 stars is for the cost of shipping my documents (all going to places on the east coast)- $12/each for ground shipping for a few sheets of paper in a large, bubble wrapped interior mail envelope. Pretty steep prices for this, but unfortunately I was short on time and couldn't shop around to other stores for better prices. Of note- there is a parking lot out front (shared by all of Bethesda row) with a typical gate/ ticket taking process required. There are also meters which I could recommend, as it is easy to park there and I'm sure it ends up being cheaper if you're just running in for a few minutes. read more

Employees are entitled, lazy and boorish. There were three in store and just me. They told me they were too busy to notarize a doc. This takes under 5 mins, they advertise and charge for the service. I asked how it was they couldn't do this. They said I should call to see if they had time to do it before coming again. Height of nonsense. PNC did it for free in three minutes. I used to have a box here and forgot why I left, their service continues to be terrible because of the people providing it . read more

I have had to do several complicated long-distance mailings of fragile heirlooms to my sister on the other side of the country. I thought there was no way they could get there safely but UPS at this location has several times packed and shipped everything so that it all arrived immaculately intact. I really appreciate them. I use the store for a lot of other things too, including getting passport photos, and they've all always been incredibly helpful and polite. I give it my highest recommendation. read more

Horrible service, immature, unprofessional, rude and incompetent employees. The wait times when busy are easily rectified if they had competent staff. All the stores in the common parking lot will stamp your free parking card for 30 minutes to give you more time so you won't have to pay if they are the cause of your delay and wait times are exorbitant except this store which reflects their lack of customer care or service. Most of them look tired, bothered and unwelcoming from the time you walk in. They overcharge for repacking , tape and basic boxes. Clearly the owner thinks nickel and diming customers and hiring cheap labor is a way for them to put more money in their pockets but doesn't care about the reputation they are noted for in the community from word of mouth and the many reviews I have seen. Avoid giving them your give business. UPS HR should look into this shady store. read more

Absolutely the rudest people, ever! Avoid this place if you like good service and courteous staff. UPS On-line estimate to ship my 3 counter stools (taken apart to be compact) was $263. These useless men told me to unload my shipment so they could measure and weigh it. They watched me unload my SUV, bring in the stools piece by piece, to give me their estimate of $850++. They were trying to charge over $400 for two cardboard boxes and some bubble! When I told them this was outrageous , they said they are an independent store and can charge whatever they want to charge. I get it....but why wait until I had unpacked my entire SUV? When I told them I would post about their poor service on YELP, the guy said, "I don't care what you do." What is this world coming to? I had an excellent experience getting some framed, glass-covered artwork shipped across the country. Spoke with 3 different employees by phone and in person, and all were professional and helpful. I appreciated that Enrique the manager gave thorough and forthright information about shipping, the ins and outs of insurance coverage, and expectations. The items got to west coast 2 days sooner than expected, and the packing was perfect, as well-packaged as any specialty art shipper could have done. I thought the price was fair compared to the exorbitant amount a specialty place would have charged. Will definitely go to the Bethesda location again if I need to. read more

I came in completely disorganized with a large return shipment, and Jen calmly and patiently assisted me while I figured out how to correctly package my 5-box shipment. I appreciate the thoughtfulness in having only two customers in the store at one time, but due to Covid I feel that the service could be much smarter in terms of dropping off packages. Online orders have increased tremendously and returns are very necessary. To drop off a package, when you already have a printed out your return, should not require standing in line for more than 10 minutes! This is the 21st-century, they have scanners; there are multiple ways that they could be more efficient with their time and customers. A designated line for those who already have printed out and the box is ready to be shipped would be a great first step. You need not even go inside! Think outside the 'box' please. read more

*Do Not Go To This Store!* I can't even begin to describe how terrible this store is. First, as you walk in and look around the store, you are assaulted by signs posted everywhere telling you about additional fees that they charge or things they do not accept: "No Personal Checks" ; "$1.00 charge for packing peanuts" ; $1.00 charge for tape" ; "Don't Leave Packages Outside the Door" ; "$5.00 minimum credit card charge" and on and on. How welcoming!! My horrible experience was when I tried to drop off a small box with a pre-paid UPS return label. I needed two small pieces of tape to seal the box. They wanted $1.00 for this. I've been to other UPS stores and have never been charged for tape, so I asked why they were charging for tape. The rude employee directed my attention to a sign that was posted on the door telling you that they charge for tape. (If you look at the door, you would find at least 4 or 5 signs taped to the door telling you about things they don't do (see above). I was astounded and I refuse to ship from this store again! As if this wasn't bad enough: The employees here are extremely rude and could care less whether you ship from them. I contacted UPS customer service to complain about my experience, and they said that all UPS stores are franchises and can run their stores as they like. I find it hard to believe that UPS cares so little about the image their franchies project. After all, it's still their brand. I simply have to speak out against a abuse of customer service and good will at this location (Hamden Rd in Bethesda) that I cannot let it go. Yesterday I brought a printer cartridge to be sent back to Canon, and one small part of the box was opened. It needed about one inch of tape to seal it. I was told by an obnoxious clerk (Brandon) that I would have to pay $1 to UPS for the use of one swatch of tape! It was not the money but the attitude of this clerk and his store manager: take it or leave it and if I never see you in this store again 'so what!". They were disrepectful, utterly cold and dismissive. Almost amused by my outrage and that to the customer before me who (mercifully) went to her car, got out a roll of Scotch tape and helped me seal the one inch opening required for UPS to take back my cartridge without my paying them. I will never darken their doors again. And the irony of it is that this UPS store doesn't worry a bit about harming its customers, humiliating them and telling them essentially 'to get lost'.... read more

I love this UPS store. I buy a lot online And return at least 50% of it. The guys who work there are kind, efficient, and fast. They also do USPS, sell stamps, have cute cards and packing material. Parking is free, plentiful and easy. I am there at least every other week. read more

I had an excellent experience here. I needed to return something to Comcast and the guy working there was extremely helpful in the process. He gave me some tips to take pictures of the bar codes and some other info that could seriously help me in the future if Comcast tries to pull anything sneaky- which they are known to do ;) But this isn't a Comcast bashing post, it's about the UPS store. The lot over here is pretty large and they have all of the services you could need inside as usual. I walked here, but I'd definitely drive if I didn't live close. I'm selecting one star because I can't give a -5. There are two other UPS stores in the area, go there. Anywhere else. Went with a bag of things to ship to California, ready to box it and arrange it myself. The person that "helped" me said, HE had to wrap everything, I couldn't do it myself, repeatedly insisted that he had to rummage through my bag and look at my items, and THEN told me I should just throw away and re-purchase all of my items when I return to CA... as if that would save me money? I didn't ask his opinion. He also said that I would have to buy large amounts of packaging supplies because everything is so "breakable" (they weren't) and that UPS would just throw everything around. Good to know. Enrique was SO patient with me while we tried different templates and formats and eventually helped me get exactly the result I wanted. Without them I would've been really lost-- thanks so much guys! This place does it all. It's my go to place for shipping packages. They are located close to my work so I have gone here a number of times to print promotional materials. They are very helpful at explaining the wide array of marketing tools they can help with as well as answering any questions you might have. With only a few exceptions the staff is fantastic. They keep the line moving quickly and it is always very organized inside. If you have USAA Bank you can also deposit your checks here which has been a huge plus if the USAA app isn't working. I would recommend this location to anyone. read more

I went to UPS to mail a box, the size of an old hat box. It had fragile items in it so I asked to bubble wrap it and ensure it was packed well. It cost $150!! I was in a bind but $40 for bubble wrap? And the guy said, "everything that goes out west cost a lot...". I spoke with a friend in sales at UPS and he said this is a private franchise and a total rip off. It's a ground shipment. They used bubble wrap and a box. Should not have been more than $40 - total. They are making money off people in the area. I will never go here again. Stupid me for not walking out! But, I will never walk in again. Go someplace else. I'm sure the government run post office would have been a better choice. read more

Went there after work yesterday. Dropped off my Amazon return (free of charge) to the first guy I saw (who looked up from what he was doing, stopped, and addressed me immediately). Asked for a receipt/tracking number, all provided with professionalism. Went home, had dinner, and got an email from Amazon that they had already started processing my refund for the return.
