This was the only office supply store that was open on a holiday, and I'm super thankful for that. I just needed to print out some documents for an early morning appointment that I have for the day after Memorial Day. The big chain office supply store where I usually go was closed, in fact all of their branches were closed. I did a search and this place popped-up. It was well worth the 3 Mile drive to come here and take care of my business. I also received a little help from an Associate who directed me to their self serve copier and printer, and she gave me some basic instructions. There were a few customers in the store which shows that life goes on, even during a national holiday. I can't say that I'm absolutely shocked by the current average star rating of 2 stars. With the difficulty of parking, limited size of the store, general lack of customer service, and generally cold reception by the little customer service there is; it just doesn't make for a really awesome shopping experience. That being said, it's one of the only office supplies stores that's in the Bethesda Chevy Chase area, and I've been here more than a couple of times to pick up last minute necessities like notebooks, bubble envelopes, printer ink... laminating sheets... other randomness that I don't have 2 days to wait for from Amazon. In any event... my best suggestion would be to park in the county lot in front of The Writers Center. It's a adequate alternative if you don't love parking in that hobbit hole on the back of the building and using the world's oldest and slowest elevator to go up to Staples. This #staples store in Chevy Chase Maryland is a few doors down from a parking garage. They will stamp your parking ticket here for two hours of free parking. The manager is friendly & often checks on the customers. Printing services are on your right upon entering the store. Customer pick up is at the same counter. The checkout is on your left upon entering just pass the gift card wall. The usual business, printing and personal office services and products are also available at this location. This is my least favorite Staples location (and we live office supply stores). Product selection is very limited, aisles are typically messy and disorganized and poorly stocked. Layout is not very clear or logical, and while it's not a small space it still *feels* stuffy and cramped. Workers (when you can find them) are disinterested in customers - on our most recent trip (last week) we stood in line with our two items (we couldn't find most of what we were looking for, and so were already regretting not going to the Rockville location) for almost ten minutes while the three employees who were there joked with each other and talked about how much longer it was before they would be on break. Where do I start with this place??? Parking is a nightmare number 1. I went in looking for 20 multi pages copies stapled. The "only" guy working the counter was pleasant but so very slow and took his time with each customer, including me. He took my name and number and my file to be printed. He said it couldn't be done right away and asked me to come back so we agreed on an hour. Fast forward an hour and 20 minutes, the color copier is "down". I get no courtesy call whatsoever. I could have taken my order to fedex down the street had I known. He finished my job 30 minutes late but had to help another customer before he could ring me up. He had to beg the laziest girl behind the counter three times to ring me up, unbelievable! He seemed honestly sorry but offered no discount, and put no other effort forward to make me a happy customer. Oddly, included in my envelope was another ladies original ready for copy, if you dropped off pictures of a woman and her baby, and they lost them, I asked my local staples to ship them back. read more

I went there on Friday to return some things my mother didn't need, and we parked down the block (the closest we could get) so I could have a store employee carry the boxes (I would have had to make several trips carrying all that heavy stuff and I figure I've spent plenty of money at Staples over the years). I waylaid the first employee I encountered, who readily agreed to go get the boxes and he quickly obtained a hand cart. He was *extremely* pleasant and affable; a really nice (18-year-old) guy! The cashier was very sweet-natured, for another "plus". The only reason why I'm not giving five stars is because I can't comment on other aspects of the store. I came here because target didn't have the SD card that I was looking for. After a few minutes and meandering around the aisles; I finally stumbled upon the SD card that I needed. The cashier Sarah at check out was very friendly and very efficient. She had to call for someone to bring my second item because I was locked away. The first person who brought it was actually and associate. I had actually walked past him twice while looking for my items; I had no clue that he actually worked there since he just had a grey shirt on and a Tony name tag. This is a well stocked store. It has two levels which wouldn't necessarily be bad, but it was extremely difficult to find someone to help me on the lower of the two levels. The store was pretty crowded when I was there today. Waited on a really long slow line to pay for my items. You would think they would have called for backup cashiers. Bottom line is give yourself plenty of time if you decide to shop at this Staples location. The staff is friendly but super slow. 15 minutes of my life wasted in this dreadful store again... This is one of those places, that you only get more disappointed each more chance you give it. A time capsule resides off the busy Wisconsin road, Staple's Bethesda offers you a reminder of what it was like to be a shopper few decades ago, mistreated and discriminated in a nearly empty establishment. There're always more employees than they need in store, and half of them would be gossiping at the printing section right when you walk in. The rest half of staffs are always rude, and have a hard time understanding English the first time around. The atmosphere in there resembled the typical negative image of union employees. It took me less than 2 minutes to locate the Lifeproof phone case, which I had checked online in prior to going in there. When I asked a staff to open the security case and show me the item, he first stared at me impatiently, then he dared to try to ignore me?! So I insisted on him doing his job... He told me to wait and went off to help another costumer, who shared his skin tone and gender. When I looked around the store, no one with light skin was being helped, and everyone of us was looking around for help! It must be a big coincidence! Asian women don't easily speak up about racial and gender discrimination, but this incident is to the extreme, enraging to be exact. His photo will be shared here at Yelp. When you live in a place like downtown Bethesda, it's nice to have businesses such as Staples and Strosnider's nearby so that you don' t need to shlep out on to Rockville Pike or up 270. However, when going to a place like this, you often have to put up with a less-than-ideal parking situation. There is a garage under this building, and Staples will validate so that you get free parking. However, the recent addition of luxury condos and a health club (we know Bethesda needed some of those just like Georgia needs Russia as it's neighbor) meant the parking garage was expanded -- and made potentially more confusing. Essentially - upon entering the garage you can only make a right turn. Try to park as soon as you can. If you drive into the new part of the garage (which is to the left of the booth) you may forever be lost in the basements of Bethesda. When I worked from home and when I spent time in grad school, I frequented this Staples a lot. They typically had what I needed, and most of the employees are at least semi-helpful. On my most recent visit, the woman who rang up my purchase was one of the surlier cashiers I've had in a while in any store. I come to Staples because I'm either in dire need of printer paper or because I'm looking for some random office goodness on super clearance to satisfy my addiction to office products. This Staples sucks because they don't keep up with their inventory tracker. So if it's on clearance and you use the online inventory tracker, and it shows availability here, forget it. It's not here, and even if it is, it's not on clearance. Seriously annoying. On top of that, the $1 and $2 bin items are usually empty. Overall, it's a pretty depressing store. read more

I had a TERRIBLE experience with this store. I went in looking for a new laptop. They had not one laptop in the store. Like, what???? And the worker had zero interest in helping me out or working with me. I then went home to purchase one online and the website said there were multiple in stock. So I called the store back to make sure and they were INCREDIBLY rude on the phone and mad at me for calling them. Online it said I could order one and have it sent to the store so I asked the employee on the phone if I could do that. He got all angry at me for asking questions and complained about me and was just incredibly rude and wouldn't take to me or answer questions. I eventually hung up cuz I was so sick of it. read more

Total disaster. Staff and management are not implementing social distancing. No line spacing for customers waiting to get rung up. There are 5 registers with plenty of space for the 3 cashiers to spread out across them but instead they all pack into the last 3 registers, with customers packed to tether around them. This store has given me the run around for two weeks now. I tried to make a simple print order. I have never been treated so badly in my life. My mother in law just died, and the women I was dealing with would no listen to me, yelled at me, never sent my proofs, when I called they had lost my order, then gave me a wrong email, and never called to say they did not get the picture they lost. So now it's two days to the memorial and no memorial cards. Not to mention the 2 1/2 hours I spent on hold, trying to get this done. Worst service ever. read more

I bought three 70-page college rule notebooks recently and had a choice of a dozen other sizes and colors of notebooks. "Product selection is very limited"? That's just a silly statement. Well, the woman on the phone wasn't nice ... neither the first time I called nor when I needed to recall because someone mistakenly hung up on me. But, more importantly, their prices were crazy high: 17 cents/page to print vs 7 or 8 cents per page at other places. FYI, after calling around, Minute Man and Print 1 Printing were both priced well and are both in Bethesda. I thought Staples would be the cheapest and I'd have to decide if I was going to use a chain store, and save money, but feel guilty, or give a smaller shop my business. I go here on a Daily Basis for Work Supplies. They always have what I need. Like specific printer inks ect. Usually you can find someone to Help. And the prices are what you would expect? Sometimes you see things cheaper, even household supplies are surprisingly cheaper than I expected. The people that work there look like they are miserable. They are not Happy. They're not mean. I had a very disaapointing experience at Staples on Wisconsin Avenue last weekend on saturday. I went to it to buy a printer- I knew the model I wanted and so a sales associate looked up whether they had that model in stock and they did not, so the sales associate sat me down in front of the kiosk and input all of my information. I purchased the printer and the instructions were that printer would be delivered to my office on the Monday or Tuesday of the next week. Within an hour, I received an mail stating that the printer would be available for pick up that day at the Rockville Office Depot store. I immediately called the store and talked with the manager, Stanley. First he said that I had made the error and arranged for pick up at the Rockville store. I explained it was not my error. He then said, I needed to come to the store to cancel my order and request a refund and then replace an order. At no point he ever apologize for the error nor go out of his way to make me cared for. I canceled my order and decided to order my printer from another vendor. read more
