Whoever runs this store is out of their damn mind! Roughly quadruple the price to purchase a box and pack a box of what any other nearby UPS store charges! Some $85 to buy a box and pack it, not including shipping costs. Absolutely laughable. I did not transact with them and packed up all my stuff and went back to my normal UPS store. I've never experienced such rude treatment in my entire life. Though she had no problem flirting with the guy ahead of me. How in the hell is there service disruption towards the place my package was going to when the lady on the phone told me which address it was going to and it was correct, but still it got to the town and still didn't deliver & sent back. I walked In this morning to a very rude very sarcastic disrespectful old hag named Mary . I had to go somewhere else she seemed incompetent or was just acting like she was . Told me that she couldn't do magic for an email I needed . All I needed her to do was her job not work a miracle . Came in for a notary I never got it had to go to another location on burnet rd just for the Manager to tell me he didn't have his tools to do a notary and send some mail so I just went to (Pak mail )instead they were very fast and courteous and nice on Anderson ln because of Mary I will never return to ups. The evening of October 24th (5:45pm) I stop by the store at 8120 Research Blvd. Austin Texas. I went in because I was dropping off 6 packages that already had shipping labels on them. The woman that took them from me seemed a little angry or frustrated but I didn't think anything of it. However, as I went out to get the rest of my packages I noticed that she was purposefully throwing and dropping my boxes. I had not had any interaction with her except to state that I was dropping off some packages. When I noticed her rough handling of the packages especially the ones that were marked fragile I asked if there was some thing I had done to offend her. Her reply was no I'm a 65-year-old woman and it's difficult for me to pick up these packages so they get handled roughly and anyways they need to be able to withstand 40 pounds. So essentially she was saying her excuse for doing this was to ensure that my packages could withstand 40 pounds. I have been to the store before and this woman has been quite pleasant, I so I'm not sure what was going on this evening. It was really disappointing just from a humankind perspective and though I will continue to use UPS for my business needs, I will not visit that store again for fear that my products will be damaged before they even make it to my customers because of the employees taking the packages and purposefully handling them roughly. read more

Easily the best experience I've had at one of these places. It may be a fluke, but today's experience was superlative. I needed to make an Amazon return and wanted to find an option between my office and my house, without using the crowded, sometimes unpleasant UPS franchise near my house. The UPS locator suggested this location. I came in right around five in the afternoon and had my transaction done in less than one minute. The employee was friendly and efficient. More importantly, there were several other employees present. Again, it may be a fluke, but with this location being in a less residential area, it may become a go-to option for shipping things after work. read more

Mary Is rude and unhelpful. I've been in the customer service industry for 15 years and I'd never speak to someone with that disrespect. I understand having a bad day, but it isn't the customers fault. It's barely 9:30 am and she seemed to be inconvenienced by me calling to ask about a package that has been rerouted to this store. She didn't let me explain the situation. She did t even try getting tracking info or info of the package. She just took my name and number and said she'd call me if the package came in. I gave her my name and she said i only need last name, not your first name. I needed to ship some clothes to my friend. The lady I talked to was extremely impatient and almost rolled her eyes when she saw that I didn't have my things boxed up. She sighed so loud as if she was trying to let me know that she didn't want to do her job. She didn't offer to help pack things up for me, and instead found a huge box (much bigger than what I needed) and told me to pack things up myself. This was a much different experience from what I had when I shipped with Fedex, where the employees proactively let me know that they would take care of the packaging. The huge box resulted in a huge shipping fee, $186.15 for ground shipping. Bit too much for some clothes, eh? read more

I hope I'm reviewing the UPS Store on Anderson Square and Research Boulevard, because other stores and a review of a dry cleaner's seem to have come up on the same page. This store is understaffed and understocked, and the only clerk behind the counter didn't seem to know what she was doing. I work near this UPS Store and went there on a fifteen minute break to mail a letter certified or with tracking depending on the price. First two problems were more a problem with staffing than the person behind the counter. When I got there the customer at the counter was sending a small package oversees. This required fifteen minutes all by itself, with extensive questions and six different forms to complete and sign. The woman could have applied for citizenship in the same amount of time. Next customer in line pulled two items out of his pocket he needed to ship in a box. He didn't have the box, nor so much as the address written down. She had to get the box, pack the box, get him to spell out the address and his information, then change it when he found out what the purpose of a return address is. !!!!!!! Three more people got in line before I even reached the counter. UPS needs more than one clerk at this store. I also noticed that for instance no forms sitting out in a rack so I could fill out my certified mail forms in advance while I was waiting. Finally I got to the counter. I said, how much is certified mail and electronic tracking only. She asked me how much the letter weighs, weighed it, weighed it again on a different scale, and then told me what first class postage would be. I repeated my question. These prices should have been on a poster on the wall or taped to the counter. She looked them up on the computer. She really struggled with that computer. Then she said she had to phone someone. She didn't know how to find this information. Probably didn't know how to send certified mail either. I grabbed my letter off the counter and walked out. I don't know if it is more true that this woman is an idiot or that UPS hasn't trained her and provided the proper resources, like the postage price list; seems like it must be both. read more

I have been going to this place for my shipping needs for almost 2 years now. They are super friendly, always cheery and eager to help out. Today even the lady that runs the place saw me came over looked at what I was gonna ship and just had everything ready for me by the time I filled out the address label. I would like to start out by saying this store used to be great! Nick had everything handled, all of our packages were always there, and easy to find. In the last few months there's been many different people in there. Sometimes they don't have a sign out packages sometimes they do. They can't ever find all of our packages at one time. When Nick comes back to the store everything run smooth. The owner has now moved in town. She very rudely explain to my wife that Nick is responsible for all of the problems that happened in the store. Which is far from the truth. I can tell you Nick is not causing any problems, he is fixing them. She needs to show some respect to the ones running this operation and to the customers that see it on a daily basis. The owner also lied to my wife and said that she did not just move down here. I talked to her daughter a few days ago, she told me they did just move down here. read more

Wow, shockingly bad customer service. My Dyson vacuum needed a repair, so the Dyson rep faxed my info to this UPS Store--they have an account with Dyson to send broken vacuums free of charge. The next day I took the vacuum to this UPS store. There was only one person working that day, despite it being a busy lunchtime. She had never heard of the Dyson arrangement. She actually asked me to come back another time with the vacuum!!! I told her no way, I'm on my lunch break and just drove miles to get here. She fretted and tried calling the manager, but the manager never picked up the phone. Finally, the employee found the fax from Dyson. Despite the fact that the fax contained DETAILED instructions regarding the shipping arrangement (including how to ring the shipping info into the cash register), the employee said she wasn't comfortable making the arrangements. I left the vacuum there, and she promised to email me and/or call me to confirm that the vacuum had been shipped. I waited two days and never heard a word. So I called the UPS store again, and while I was attempting to ask my question, another employee rudely interrupted me, saying "Can you call back in an hour?" Uh, WHAT? I said, "Why? I just have a quick question and really need an answer." She said, "Well, I can't help you right now, so you have to call back in an hour." I pressed her, and finally got the info out of her that their computer system was down and she could not look up my info at that time. I calmly said, "I think it would be better if YOU call ME back when your system is up and running." What kind of company tells a customer to call them back like that!?! Unbelievable. This place is a perfect storm of terrible customer service. UPDATE: Sure enough, they did not call me back when their computer system was up and running. I was forced to call them myself a few hours later. UPDATE #2: Someone finally did call me back late this afternoon to let me know that it had shipped. She provided the UPS tracking number. Had an item shipped with 2 day shipping scheduled for delivery on March 17. Checked the shipping status on March 18th and it says delivery attempted at my house at 4:15pm on March 17 but "customer not home". Not only was I home but my front door security cam shows NO ONE from UPS ever came near my door. They outright lied. The tracking status showed my package was then dropped off for pickup at UPS location at 8760 RESEARCH. I arrive at this store at 3:15pm only to see a hand printed sign on the door saying "MGMT" decided to close at 3:00pm. Their hours are until 5pm on Saturday's, and that's exactly what it says on their store hours website. I'm freaking pissed. Since they're not even open on Sundays I'm stuck with no way to get my package because these incompetent morons decided to cut out 2 hours early on a Saturday with no notice provided on their website or phone voicemail. read more

Does my stuff, mailed from this UPS store, always show up per the recipients, looking ok? Yes. Has anyone there ever called me a low down dirty skinny white boy from Long Island who wears too many tshirts even though he has to crawl under desks every other day? No. In fact, the owner calls me 'sweetie' whenever I mail stuff from here. Can you mail stuff to places from Austin cheaper than the UPS store? Sure. If you're sending something of inconsequential value and this is the closest place, you can disregard this review. Everyone at this store is very polite, and you should be in and out fairly quickly. If you expect to be compensated for any damage that occurs to your package if it is mishandled by UPS, go somewhere else. I've been selling on eBay for years and have shipped packages of all sizes all over the country without incident. Shipping one package through this store ultimately cost me nearly $2K. Further, their incompetence is well matched by their inability to communicate. You wouldn't think that last part would matter much. However, if a package you ship through their store is damaged, they will be your proxy throughout the damaged claim process with UPS. Your claim will be denied without explanation, twice if you're tenacious. Don't bother complaining to the owners. This is far from their only store, and they don't live in Texas. Your concerns will be received as a mild irritant, if at all. If you've ever wanted to feel completely powerless while a giant corporation robs you, this could be your chance. read more

Went here yesterday to drop off a pre-printed, paid and packaged ups box. I simply asked the guy for a 12" piece of tape to attach the label and after he held me up for a minute to verify the label was correct (which I knew it was), he then told me he wanted $1.50 to tape the box. Freakin robbery! What a farce this store and other UPS stores are! This is a scam of high order and they are obviously run by individuals vs. UPS. I'd rather spend $4.00 on gas to buy my own tape than have them charge me 1000% markup on an almost free amount of tape! SO shifty and obviously calculated ripoff. read more

IF YOU VALUE YOUR MAIL, DO NOT RENT A MAILBOX AT THIS STORE. I've had boxes at many different UPS stores all over the country, and this one is a some kind of cutting-edge research lab funded to create new levels of incompetence. TL;DR: They're impossible to contact via email or phone, have held my mail hostage for months at a time, refusing to forward it to me, and most recently informed me that they've been returning my mail to sender for over a year because they thought my box was expired. Details: I rented a mailbox at this location back in 2011 so that I could have a place to receive mail while traveling. Every single time I've tried to get my mail forwarded to me it has been a massive hassle, taking at least 2 weeks and between 3-20 emails and phone calls. They are always understaffed so they often refuse to talk to you on the phone. They'll claim to call you back, but never will. They'll tell you to email, but don't know how to read/send email and never respond. Most recently, I was again in the regrettable position of not having checked my mail for a while, so I started to process again. I emailed and got no response for a week, so I brought this up with the UPS store head office -- magically I got a response after that. Unfortunately the response was that they had been returning my mail to sender because their "records" showed that my mailbox expired over a year ago. In reality I have over 5 months left on my rental, but they demanded that I take more of my time to prove that their records are false. What happened to all that mail? I'll never know. What evidence did they have that my rental expired? They refused to say. I'm now in the process of trying to present evidence of my actual rental agreement so I get at least get a refund for all the time they've been just throwing my mail in the trash. Of course, they're now especially hard to reach on the phone because they don't want to refund my money. "I'll call you back in one hour" -- nothing, so I call back in 1.5 hours -- "I'll call you back in 30 minutes" -- nothing, so I call back in an hour and "she's on break". Of course they all claim that mistakes were made by someone in the past that no longer works there -- seems like nobody works there for more than 3 months, I wonder why? read more

Everyone at this location has always been friendly and helpful, even though I've only been in to drop off packages with prepaid labels. My only complaint - and it is a fairly sizable complaint - is that the hours aren't posted on the door. According to the UPS website, this location is open until 5 on Saturdays. In actuality? They close at 4. I found this out today when I showed up at 4:30 to mail a package. If they had hours posted, or correct hours on the UPS website, I would give it a few more stars. read more

You want to talk about awful customer service, unreliability and irresponsibility? The owner(s), management and employees of this store epitomize it all. I took a valuable wall hanging there to be shipped to my brother. I explained to the employee that the photos in that hanging were irreplaceable. It needed protection. I bought insurance on it. The hanging arrived at my brother's in LA demolished. There was no bubble wrap or other protective packing material in the box, only the picture itself. The box was not stamped "fragile" or "glass." When I went to management about it and files a claim, they lied and told corporate in the claim that I had packaged the picture myself, so of course the claim was denied. I had to contact corporate again to get things corrected. I had to threaten to take the owner(s) to small claims court to resolve the issue. Regardless, that would not replace the very rare photos that were destroyed. I would never advise to use this store for anything. I will never set foot in there again. Awful experience. read more

Do not go to this store. We had a box package for a 3 business day delivery with required signature. The guy asked what was in the box, and knew it contained a diamond ring along with ray ban glasses and electronics. They weighed the box in the store and placed the sticker label on the box. We paid extra for a safe delivery being it contained a very valuable family diamond wedding ring I was to use next year. The label was either removed or reprinted and placed on someone's envelope to show a delivery made. We received someone else package and our package has not been found til this day. We asked management to review cameras. It's heart breaking that a business you trusted and paid could have internal workers that would Commit a federal crime and just steal your package. Nick has not returned our call as he said he would. I've called the office and no one has answered and mailbox is full. Do not trust them with your items. Now I have a mess of stress and reports to file along with writing this review I hopes it helps prevent this from happening to someone else. I wish these reviews gave a zero star option. read more

I went to the UPS Store at 8760 RESEARCH BLVD, A, AUSTIN, TX, 78758-6420. I had a label stuck on the box with the address where the package is going. The guy that was working entered my work address that was not even on the label. He has me sign a receipt that had the incorrect address which I did not see. The box got shipped to my work and when I went to tell the manager at the store that she said it was my fault for not checking the label and the their fault for entering the wrong address. The Manager said I would have to pay for all of the cost for the shipping even though its both of our faults. I said no lets split the cost and she said No, I can't do that. BUTTOM LINE they do not know what they are doing so Please find a different store. read more

Reading the other reviews, I guess different people have varying experiences and opinions. Here is my experience over a multi-year period: VERY GOOD! I am in this store several times a week, and have received probably more than 1,000 shipments there. They have never lost a one! Personnel are always friendly and cheerful. This is not the closest mailbox service to my house, but I have continued using this business because of the good service. read more
