How I wish we had yelped this "hell hole" before going there for lunch on Monday! The only thing it had going for it was the view--and what a waste on this place! After 12 hours on the road to get to our resort, we did not do our research before eating lunch here and did we ever pay...what a nightmare experience all around! We were seated by this 16 year old referred to in previous Yelps, who tried to seat 5 of us at a 4 top and told us it would be fine, huh?! For who?--ODD, warning #1!
We too waited quite some time for drinks...2 beers and 3 waters. The 16 year old waitress had no clue what kind of beer they had and I had to actually ask her to find out for us, so we had already waited for a while to even order a drink--RED FLAG #2!
When we ordered the food she did not know any of the sides and ignored me when I asked her to find out what they were, so we basically chose from the few she threw out there which she thought they had! HELLO...I waitresses for 11 years through my BA and 2 Master's...make yourself a list before going on the floor! Basic common sense! She swore the lobster was broiled, my husband even went after her to double check because he did not think they were going to be broiled and she confirmed her original answer! Placing the food order--nightmare/red flag # 3!
The 1st thing to come out were my 14 year old son's nachos, which was his lunch, so should have been served with the other 4 lunches...it arrived long before our lunches, odd, and without the guacamole. We asked and she informed us they were 'out of guacamole.' Better late than never to find that out. I must say, the nachos were not bad.
Then, much later--my son had finished his nachos--and with very little attention to us between the order & food's arrival, our 4 lobster entrees arrived. Of course, NOT broiled! The side dishes were cold and tasteless: the roasted potatoes were still hard & unseasoned, the corn was like cow corn--tough & dry--, & the fries were cold. I called the "manager" over to tell her about the "broiled" mistake and then mentioned the other issues we had encountered, as well. Oddly, she defended the waitress to the death, contradicting herself in the process! She told me this 16 year old girl was new & had to be put on the floor on day 1 of training due to someone calling out. The place wasn't that busy and there were 3 other servers on-huh!? Then she said that she had been running food for them for a long time...so shouldn't she at least be familiar with the sides? Then she said they just opened 2 weeks ago, then she said that their sides change...whatever! Give the girl a list! Clearly this waitress was working on 6/24 if you read the other reviews, unless they start a new, never worked before, 16 year old waitress daily! She took my lobster away for me, claiming "no one boils them on the island!" Fine, just tell the wait staff that! A little while later the cook brings my lobster back, why??? The tail has been cut off, taken out of its' shell, and cut in half. Thanks, I think, but it is still NOT broiled, despite this older-middle aged, blond "manager" and her cook claiming that it was. Do they know what broiled is? Or did they just think we are really stupid? She was very snotty, claiming they just couldn't please me. RED FLAG #...not sure what number that would be, I lost track at this point! The only one who really ate from the other 3 lobsters was my husband, so as not to waste them. My other 2 kids were totally turned off from their food, service, attitude, etc., etc., etc. at this point and just wanted to leave!
As my husband is eating, our waitress asks him if we wants the check...doesn't that usually come when everyone is done eating? No mention of dessert, no apologies, NOTHING any other restaurant would do under these circumstances! Then she brings my husband the check and tries to hand it to him, while his hands are full of lobster and he is still eating. There are no words for this lack of common sense! I took the check so my husband could finish eating.
I noticed she did not charge us for the beers, so I called her over to tell her. She looked very confused as to what to do and asked me if she could add them! Well, yes of course! I gave her 15% to be the bigger person, why I am not sure!? On the way out I told the "manager" about the beers and that we had told her about the lack of charging us because it was the right thing to do, despite the fact that we felt something should have been comped/taken off the check, OR we should have been offered dessert, something, anything, even an " I'm sorry about that!" She was VERY snotty and claimed to be in the business for 30 years--WOW, takes her a long time to learn the basics! Clearly I was NOT going to get anywhere with this woman! We left and would NEVER go back!
What a horrid experience!!! Don't ignore the other warnings, it's all true! read more
