Checked out this truck when it was parked at Little Woodrows on a slow Monday. Judging from the paper ticket they gave me, I think I was the third customer of the night at 9pm. Did I already mention it was a slow night at the bar? My friend thought the listed prices on the menu were high for a food truck but they seem average compared to the restaurants I've been to in third ward. Ordered a catfish basket which had a large filet and a lot of fries for 15 dollars. The catfish was seasoned well and I wasn't sure if it was swai since the flesh tasted mild. This was a last minute brunch decision and it turned out to be an excellent idea. The vibe and atmosphere in the place was amazing. Super cool, small, kind of a hidden gem. Social media hyped The Ultimate Kitchen so much I had to add it to my foodie bookmarks. The way people were carrying on, I figured this spot might just become a regular. Now, since it's a bit of a drive from where I live, I never made the trip, until one day when my hunger met convenience. I happened to be in the area, saw it, and thought, Why not? Let's see what all the fuss is about. The restaurant sits in the same lot as a gas station, but it's not in the gas station. Parking, however, is minimal, so may the odds be ever in your favor. Inside, it's pretty compact with a few tables, some bar seating and a DJ. I decided to skip the dining in vibes and just order to go. Here's what I got: oxtail sliders, sweet potatoes, and wings. Sadly, this lineup didn't live up to the social media praise. The oxtail sliders were the MVP, tender, flavorful, and worth the hype. But the sweet potatoes? Overcooked and way too sweet, like someone thought diabetes instead of a side dish. Ive never seen sweet potatoes this dark before. The wings? No seasoning, no flavor, no nothing, just wings existing in silence. When I mentioned this, I was told I had ordered the chicken wrong. Excuse me? Since when is there a wrong way to order chicken? At least I did get a refund for the wings and sweet potatoes. The manager I talked to wasn't sassy and you could tell he wanted to resolve the situation. Would I go back? Honestly, probably not. They are scheduled to open at 11AM and we had our reservation for 11:30AM. We arrived at 11:08 and they were closed. I called and they said they will open in 10 minutes, they didn't open until 11:36. We were nervous when we pulled up because it's connected to a gas station but the Food was 10/10. The bartender Tammy was so nice and made the drinks good. Our server was Alexis was very attentive and made sure we were okay the whole time we were at the establishment. Hookah was also good. Brunch with the first ladies. Small place but very nice workers. Everyone was so friendly. Ebony, our waitress was very attentive and kept our water carafe filled. The music was fiya! I drove from Tomball to this place on the other side of town because these IG influencers really be hyping these Houston restaurants up. Not worth it at all. Overhyped. Should've listened to the reviews. They also charge a "take out fee"! WTF is a "takeout fee" of 18%? Because I don't want to sit in your establishment and yell at the top of my lungs over loud music, I get charged a fee. I swear these Houston restaurants are overcharging just because. I've been eating out my whole adult life and never been charged a takeout fee. I ordered the Oxtail Sliders and the Oxtail Eggrolls. Sliders were okay. Eggrolls were trash. Extremely little for $17!!! 3 tiny eggrolls cut in half to bite size pieces. The eggrolls are literally the size of spring rolls at an Asian restaurant, then cut in half. The prices are not justifiable. Even with oxtail being a premium meat. Mac and cheese was definitely trash. No flavor at all. If I'm paying almost $50 for my food, I better not find any problems with my order. I'd give any restaurant the same energy. I have no problem paying for food and quality and dining experiences. Trust me, my tabs at steakhouses are car notes for some. I wasn't pleased at all and I won't be back. I just hate I listen to these food bloggers and waste my money. I was a little skeptical going here because of some of the reviews...but glad I didn't listen to the folks! Now one thing they did get right is the parking..it is limited. However we went when it opened and had no issues parking. We we greeted when we walked in. They had the trap music playing. It kind of gave me "locker room" vibes. Our waitress was Cynthia and she was amazing. She gave me background on how this started off as a food truck in 2019. She recommended great things on the menu. We had a Appetizer platter with sliders (spicyyyy), good egg rolls, and boneless wings. We shared the catfish and shrimp and grits because we were already full. Now these frozen sidecars yall with a extra shot of Henn got me. I start sweating and had to take a 15 minute nap in the car before my ride back to Katy. @mysouthernbrand brought me here I was pleasantly surprised because some of his recommendations are hit and miss/have mixed reviews. When I looked up The Ultimate Kitchen they had an overall four star review which is solid in my book. Food looks good not only on IG but from customers' reviews who posted pics. ENVIRONMENT/AMBIANCE Restaurant is adjacent to a gas station/convenience store on the corner. Restaurant is small. I definitely suggest getting there early especially if coming with a group. I dined solo so I was sat quickly at the bar. By noon the place was to capacity and I started to see a couple of groups waiting outside to get in. One of those groups were able to sit at the bar. The restaurant is HOT. I can only imagine how it would get at 3pm in the afternoon because I came a little after 11am. Luckily my bartender/waitress offered me her fan for like the last 15 minutes I was there so that helped. It is also LOUD. Brunch crowd singing at the top of their lungs, others conversing and the DJ has the music cranked high. Music ranged from Lil Wayne and Bobby Valentino's Mrs. Officer to Drake's Treacherous Twin to a splash of Caribbean. It was kind of all over the place and then he would mix the song early so you would only hear maybe a minute if that of the songs you liked. DJ was also smoking hookah. Not sure if that was his personal hookah he brought or if restaurant serves hookah because he was the only one I saw smoking hookah. PARKING Limited. When I called to ask about parking I was told they have their own lot which is true (shared with the gas station/convenience store) and I was also told you could park next door. However next door is a storage facility. Although I didn't see towing signs or parking for Cube storage only I was leery to park over there. CUSTOMER SERVICE What made me actually choose to come here aside from @mysouthernbrand was calling the restaurant to find out about waiting and parking and THEY ANSWERED by second ring. I was pleasantly surprised only because some restaurants will have one or two numbers posted and never answer. A guy picked up the phone and was very nice, answered my questions and his background was quiet. That alone told me this restaursnt would be organized and a good experience. DRINKS I highly recommend the Frozen Flight. It's a $25 tray of 3 oz (I am estimating) shot glasses with frozen drinks. It's like a sample and all four of the drinks were good. I am so glad I got this. I had my eye on Tiger Flight but my bartender guided me to Frozen Flight. FOOD I got the chicken and waffles and the Philly cheesesteak egg rolls. Loved them both. My bartender/waitress told me to get the chicken and waffles or the fish and shrimp with grits. I'll try the latter next time. But I am so glad I got the chicken and waffles. The waffles were hot, topped with powdered sugar and served with syrup on the side. It's a huge waffle, fluffy. You get five hot juicy pieces of fried chicken wings fried to perfection. I haven't had chicken wings that tasted THAT good since I vacationed in St Kitts and went to a place called Bobsy's Wings (best wings on that island). I would definitely go back for those chicken wings and the Philly cheesesteak egg rolls which stayed crispy even after I refrigerated them and reheated them. I was surprised. Love the filling too. Stuffed with meat and perfect amount of cheese and a touch of green peppers. I want to try their flavored wings next time: my bartender recommended hot lemon pepper and the ultimate sauce wings. BARTENDER/WAITRESS Shout out Amira! She was great. Took good care of me and gave me great recommendations! Also took the time to explain everything: the menu, how to order, how to pay which is open tab, and automatic gratuity 20% included. Thank you! I am not a fan of restaurants that charge automatic gratuity but she gave good service. HOURS FYI this is a weekend only restaurant Friday-Sunday and it isn't late night. They close at 7pm. Completely disgusting. Service and welcome started out fine but when it came to ordering the drinks and food it was downhill from there. Ordered a flight and one of the drink machines was out of order. The pay system was on the fritz and before we could even place an order, there was no dirty rice. When I got my shrimp and lobster, the lobster smelled so bad the entire table almost puked. IT was so spoiled it smelled like it was pulled from the bottom of a garbage can. There were only like six other people in the entire restaurant and it took my wife darn near 45 minutes to get a simple order of wings. I'M DONE!!!! I want to give it 2 stars because 1. the AC was not on, super hot especially when the door has to keep opening 2. food took a long time but it was good 3. frozen margaritas weren't frozen so I had to settle for only one flavor 4. hookah pipe/tube is reusable which is very unhealthy to have at a constantly busy establishment. 5. they add on texas city tax, state tax, mixed beverage tax, and 20% gratuity. my bill went from $89.00 to $123 just by adding on all of that so be prepared. 2 stars is the best I can give sadly. read more

This is a nice chilled place. Came here for three 1st time for the hubby birthday brunch. Food ok and a Lil pricey. I had shrimp, fish and grits.
